Most of my interest comes from the fact that Erdrick and the guy from DQ1 are often shown using a shield and I really like the prospect of a more defensive character that has a higher emphasis on using their shield, like how Palutena can block attacks that hit her dash attack or back air. Having magic specials and a potential female alt just makes the character more enticing.
I think it's great that the whole Smash Bros. leak saga worked out in such a way that it created two perfect enemies for each other in Banjo and Steve. Nobody was ever saying both of them would be in, it was always one or the other. You could only pick one side in this conflict. It's just the perfect story.

Joker was announced very early and also probably delayed to be near the P5 announcements. 2nd character will probably be release same-day or within 2 weeks from the announcement. 3rd character will be announced at or the week after EVO. Then you have two left to be announced between Sept-Feb with one of them probably at the 2019 VGA's.

The schedule for the Smash 4 DLC is definitely correct, but I think Joker and Mewtwo releasing in April, along with them saying they'd release all the DLC by February 2020 is no coincidence. It's probably a very similar schedule.
It's better than going off the words of some leakers that have also gotten shit wrong regarding the specific character. How come nobody seems to think a Harvest Moon Rep is possible? It's a decades long running, popular series that spawned multiple offshoot games but everyone tries to pretend it doesn't exist in favor of this dime a dozen collectathon platformer mascot.

Nobody's denying HM would be a good rep, the problem is that HM is in this weird limbo because Natsume owns the rights to the Harvest Moon title but Marvelous is the company making the actual Bokujou Monogatari (Story of Seasons) games, but Natsume is being greedy and trying to trick people by continuing to make shitty games with the Harvest Moon title in the hopes that people are uninformed and will buy those games, so a Harvest Moon character in Smash would be hard to do because you couldn't use the title of the series, and if you wanted to use someone like Jack (I think that's the old HM guy's name?) Natsume may still have some rights to him as a character too. It's all just really complicated bullshit.
