It lets you complete one of your hand's sets by claiming someone's discard when you already have the other two tiles towards it. Pon (three of a kind) can be claimed from anyone, chi (a three-tile straight) can only be claimed from the player on your left.

The downside is it exposes the set so everyone sees it, that meld of three is locked and you can't change it or discard any of those three tiles, and it opens your hand so you can't riichi or get any of the other closed-only yaku.

The solution is a new board all about mahjong. Games, anime, discussion of real pros, organizing online tournaments, talking about playing in real life, there's a lot of material. People can discuss other variants too, maybe one or two people actually like jewish mah-jongg and want to talk about it.

Nope, this game is extremely jewish. The devs don't even give away items that can be used towards stardust, everything is locked and only used for bond points. As a gacha its the worst.

If you donate enough you get a summon scroll, which has a 5% chance of returning a character. Odds are it will take hundreds of games to get a character.

The Max set has bigger tiles and the accessories are higher quality. In both sets the tiles are perfectly good though.
I have a Gabin and the point sticks and stuff are really cheapo, but the tiles are great. I use my own dice and bought a separate set of colored point sticks so it doesn't really affect me now though.

Max tiles are slightly larger, as they are the size of an automatic table set, which is slightly larger than the Japanese standard tiles.

I don't have a Amos set, but I have a Japanese set, and I can tell you that if you have big hands, pick up the Max set. Otherwise, compare the prices between the regular AMOS and the YMI sets. Would probably still recommend the AMOS.

The one on the very bottom is the one my friends and I play with irl. I don't personally like how small they are. However, every single one of my other friends say the size is perfect.

Yes they can, speed has nothing to do with it. If you declare chii and someone declares pon right after, your chii is ignored. And if someone declares ron after the pon, the pon is ignored.

That user forgot to mention that Riichi is a yaku by itself. This means you can win with literally any 4 sets and a pair if you keep your hand closed until the end.

Discarding either 8m or 9m means you decide not to do anything for both. 8m discard first because 9m is safer to discard later.

It's closer to minmax trade. If you choose one of 89m block to be discarded, later on you'll have to discard the other tile. After that, the next question is which tile is safer. 9m is terminal tile, so it can be safe tile and it's better to keep.

Of course the wall can act like a bitch and give you consecutive 8m draws that would have made a triplet, but that's unlikely scenario compared to other cases like completing 455m and other blocks.

By playing more than 3 rounds. How did you remember all the Pokemon?

Think of yaku like combos in a fighting game. You don't learn all of the combos at once. You play the character, learn the basics, and your "bread and butter" (the most important combos that are flexible and can generally do damage). Moves for more niche situations are learned over time, as you learn more of the basics.

My best advice to you is to keep your hand closed unless you have a yakuhai (dragon, round wind, or your seat wind triple). Closed hands have another very easy yaku to get, pretty much the only "bread and butter" yaku you're missing, pinfu. It is more about what you don't have than what you do have.

Grabbing it from the draw is tsumo. Winning anything with tsumo from a closed hand gives you the "fully concealed hand" extra 1 han.

Ron'ing from someone else's discard is still possible with any hand that has to remain closed, it will just be worth 1 han less than if you drew it yourself. Always press the button though

i kinda dislike this idea of giving advice to focus on the "easy" yakus
the thing is, many yakus are very similar to each other
like, you have a sequence of 456 in any suit
if you have the same sequence in another suit, say 345man and 345sou, that's a yaku
or if you have that same sequence twice in one suit, so 334455man
or having the same triplet in different suits, like 777man 777pin
and so on
these yakus kinda make sense once you think about them in terms of "fortunate coincidences" like ok i have these combos but they have this special thing about them and the rarer this "special" occurrence, the more valuable the yaku
like, you have a hand that consists of 122334man 678pin + wind triplet + dragon pair (sequences of 123man, 234man, 678pin)
you know what'd be rarer? if those number tiles were all of the same suit, so you had 122334678man. That's a yaku for you.
Rarer still would be if they also didn't overlap in sequences, so they were like 123456789man. That's another yaku on top of the same-suit one. But man, you know what would be even rarer? If even the wind/dragon tiles were also numbers of that suit. Hot damn, let's change the 2 dragons into 11man, and the 3 winds to 555man. Now, you have 11123455556789man (11 pair, 555 triplet, 123 456 789 sequences). THAT is rare as fuck, and it's a whole lotta fuckin yakus.
it kinda makes sense to me in this way, and you can generally see patterns that lead into yakus pretty well like that
even if you don't remember the specific name of some yaku or if it even exists, you just know that having 123man 123pin 123sou looks kinda special, so it probably is a yaku
this may just be random ramblings but it's how i made sense of it when i learned

The word you're looking for is intuitive, they're intuitive. Which is why they aren't that hard to learn. I still think it's good to have a good foundation of a few yaku to test waters at first. Just don't include pinfu, cause that's rather complicated.

But generally when building, you can just spot some abnormalities and go from there. "Oh look, my hand almost completely of one suit, I'm sure that's something" or "man, I have a lot of pairs and triplets"

Even considering all that, you don't have to learn that many yaku at first. Some of them are just pure luck, then others are upgrades of cheaper ones and a lot never occur. You only need to learn 11 yaku if you want to win a hand.

Or it could just sit in dead wall for the rest of the game. With chiitoi you can make very strong and unexpected wait. The one above isn't one of them.

Guy opposite of you would've probably dealt into the guy right to you if he draw a 4. You can't even be sure about his hand, let alone that a fucking 5 would flow over. It looks like a (full)flush, so the chances of that are small. You also seem to forget that there's a dead wall with 14 tiles you'll never get.

And the two who discarded a 5 could've also had something like 455 and cut 5 for the better wait, while still keeping one.
