Yea Forums here, I do

how couldn't i like the best metroidvania of all times

The Hollow Knight is so fucking hard, any way to cheese it?

I'm a fucking shitter and can't even do the first pantheon with all bindings

Pure completion never

I didn't care much for it, but it wasn't because I thought the game was bad, I just suck at video games and couldn't get very hard.

I prefer Hornet much more actually.

Couldn't get very far*

Goddammit.

Why would you want to do all binding pantheons anyways? How many people can even beat the last pantheon with all bindings?

I wish it had better music, or music at all. If you're going to rip off Castlevania at least out music in the games.

It's fine.

This game made me realize how far behind Metroid's fallen in keeping up with the 'metroid'vania genre. Samus Returns was like a puddle, while Hollow Knight was the fucking ocean.

You have to be either deaf or just bad at the game to miss the best pieces of music

You mean outdo Castlevania in every aspect? :)

I liked it, but the combat needs serious work if I'm going to buy silksong. Contact damage in melee games is super shitty, 90% of the time I get hit by enemies is if they jog forward or suddenly jump, instead of getting guy by their attacks.
That said, I have massive respect for the devs.

I used to like it, but now that it became successful, critically acclaimed and popular, I think it's fucking garbage

It's not that, I just want the lifeblood for the final pantheon

I still haven't unlocked absolute radiance either

There was music here and there, but it all sort of blurred together into an indistinct mass sometimes.
Greenpath was pretty good, City of Tears was pretty good, Nightmare King Grimm was pretty good, but I literally could not pick out an individual boss theme if I heard it.

sorry to break it to you but you have shit tier hearing

This but unironically.

>getting guy
had a stroke, meant hit

yeah, music was pretty shit except a few tracks here and there

cringe

you mean pure vessel?

you don't have to respond to every user that isn't a fan of the music, you come off as a bit of a fanboy

No, the one you fight in the black egg temple.

Can you plat the game?
The pantheon thing is that hard?

I like it. any other recent metroidvania games anons want to recommend?

the pantheons are very hard

Ori

Is Ori metroidvania? I'd have just described it as an action platformer or something, I relate it more closely to Rayman Origins/Legends than anything else. I've never taken much interest in metroidvania games but I really enjoyed Ori - it was lovely to look at, and the platforming was fun.

Please no, just no. That's nowhere near as good as Castlevania.

And most of the game doesn't have music.

/thread

I absolutely fucking love the aethstetics in the game, and silksong is more than likely going to blow my dick off.

HEGALE youtube.com/watch?v=71gVMmYvuZc

based retard

It's more platforming focused but it is 100% metroidvainia

Attached: Metroidvanias.jpg (2000x8200, 3.5M)

Yes, except for the map system, so shitty.

What's the third game?
Super Metroid, Sotn, and...?

Could you explain what metroidvania actually means then? I clearly don't understand the term well enough.

the only problem with is Fog Canyon

Any cheese method to do the last pantheon?

>Metroidvania games generally feature a large interconnected world map the player can explore, though access to parts of the world is often limited by doors or other obstacles that can only be passed once the player has acquired special items, tools, weapons or abilities within the game. Acquiring such improvements can also aid the player in defeating more difficult enemies and locating shortcuts and secret areas, and often includes retracing one's steps across the map
just from wikipeadia

Learning by heart

La Mulana

Hmm. Was all that stuff in Ori? It's been a while since I played it but I remember it as an (effectively) linear platformer, I mostly went to each place once and in an order the game set out for me - or have I misremembered?

Zero Mission should replace Super Metroid.
Played both
Movement is better on Zero
Gamefeel is more fluid
challenges are more refined.

I love the game, but Steel Soul, the speedrun achievements and Godmaster are just bad content. Locking endings behind the later is just awful and lowers the quality of the game for me from "nintendo-like polish" to "good game with typical shitty indie filler"
I'll gladly replay the game, but I don't want to touch that shit. Don't "get good" me, I enjoyed NKG and Path of Pain, dream rematches and Colosseum of Fools, endurance modes are pure autism

>game has content that is not for me
>this is objectively bad

I think it's overall good, one of the better Metroidvanias, but the people calling it the best in genre are insane.

Don't care for it. There's so many little things that make it feel tedious to me, everything seems so dreary between the visuals and music. Having to find the guy to buy a map, having to sit on a bench to update the map, having to wear a specific pin to see where you are on the map, only being able to change pins at benches, Dark Souls currency loss if you die, it all just added up.

Locking story behind content that should be optional is the bad part. Doesn't help that said content is straight up filler, with only like 10% of new gameplay on it

The gameplay is decent but I loathe the story and the repetitive simplistic character design. Crypticness doesn't make up for an uninteresting plot. 6/10

It is optional.

I'm not Yea Forums but I do like Hollow Knight.

Attached: 1551852950762.jpg (717x598, 82K)

How? There are endings locked behind it. If you count that as optional, then the entire game is optional.

This is why the only way to save Metroid is to get Deer Force back together to make sm2

It's not required to reach the end of the game.

Skullgirls had a soundtrack comparable to Castlevania. Hollow Knight does not.

You know what I said, I don't need to repeat myself
I hope Silksong doesn't pull anything similar, I'm really looking forward to it. And I hope you can turn off voices, because Hornet's screams will get old fast

Literally 1 of 4 you fucking headass

>I shouldn't have to struggle to get all the endings :c

absolute state

>Don't "get good" me
>I enjoyed easy content

Don't fucking act like you're good at the game if you can't fucking do the challenging shit. If you think locking an ending behind content only 0.8% of the playerbase can achieve is a bad decision, fine. But don't act like you're only unwilling to do it because it's autistic and not because you just aren't good enough. You'd happily do it if you had the ability to sit down and clear it right now.

>Yea Forums likes this overrated game?
It's almost like you are a newfag or something.

I literally just got as many upgrades as I could and tanked him while hitting him with the fully upgraded nail.

Nigger, I haven't even tried it. I stopped playing as soon as I beat Radiance after clearing everything else. I just don't like endurance modes that just make you repeat the same content. Make the boss fights 10x times harder but don't make me waste my time repeating 10 minutes of boring shit before trying the new stuff again if I fail because I didn't look at guides before trying it.

It's pretty amazing actually.

you've looked at the guide though. I mean, you beat the game before, so it stands to reason that you've killed all the bosses. All you have to do is just kill them all again, one after the other.

I know I'm going to get a ton of hate for this, but I'd love to see the Knight make it to Smash Ultimate. Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games of all time, due to its despairing nature, saddening music, and gloomy play style (yes, I always play it when I'm upset).

Nah I gave up after 20 minutes or so

I know, and I know only the last one is supposed to be hard, but the concept of the mode doesn't appeal to me at all. I've ignored boss rushes on every game I've played, no matter how piss easy or hard they are

>wants the slightly modified ending
>shit at the game
No, its for people who are good only. Steel Soul is fine because even if you're bad you can quit the game and be fine.

I'm at Hollow Knight and according to the menu I'm at 90% completion. Can I continue playing after I beat him or should I go back and explore more? I've found all the caterpillars but I'm missing two mask shards, a soul shard, and presumably a notch or two.

>Can I continue playing after I beat him
yes, it'll just be like you never beat him

You can continue. Defeat him before you get Voidheart or you'll miss out on an ending unless you restart the entire game again

It's not about difficulty, I know I can do it, nothing about the game has been particularly hard for me other than some bosses at the beginning. I'm allowed to critizice the fact that story content was locked behind stuff that has been historically extra content, I'm not expecting you to agree with me

All right. Thanks. He's giving me a hard time, gonna keep trying a while.

I did enjoyed it

Phew, just beat him. Good fight. Second hardest for me after Lost Kin.

Congrats. I remember it being a fun fight

I have no idea what’s even going on in the story. They really didn’t need to copy Bloodborne’s cryptic lore that you need to watch some 2 hour YouTube video to understand anything.

Hes fucking easy af if you get the void cloak. You can just iframe through most attacks. Watch for the spikes that shoot from the ground but everything else is pretty easy once you learn the patterns. Just be patient
