#FE started as DeSu x Pokemon but cancelled because it's too similar with Pokemon Conquest. Then Yamagami and Ando came and bring IS since they wanted to make FE game that set on the future (awakening supposed set in mars but ninty rejected it). This is when SMTxFE first trailer came out.
IS being IS refused the crossover to be a straight crossover (an srpg starring fe heroes with smt demons). They demand the project to be a game that IS themselves can't make.
Meanwhile Ando managed to get Avex to bill the project, and then Atlus make the game based on Avex demand. And that's the story of SMTxFE becoming the game we knew today

The vast majority of the OST is absolutely on par with the mainline OST, even if a completely different style.
