Anyway, all the original characters were well written, from what i recall. There's a difference between having colourful characters and cringe reddit bullshit.

pasting this from the other thread in case anyone needs help with this shit --

for returning players who want the game to be exactly like it was in 1998-
you want either og versions or EE 1.3 before siege of dragonspear patch.

for everyone else who just wants to play-
whatever latest version of EE is totally fine.

you can just not take any of the new companions (dorn, the wild mage girl, the monk dude in nashkel) and not play the DLC, and you'll get 99.9% the same experience.

MODS-
for OG versions you'll probably want the widescreen patch, maybe the de-greenifier if you get the water glitch. tutu is cool but not required, tutu makes bg1 run in the bg2 engine (including adding all the bg2 class kits to the game). take it or leave it, if you are playing OG version you probably know what you want

for ee versions -
no mods required but if you like there is a mod to remove the enhanced edition NPCs from the game, so you don't even need to ignore them, they just are gone. not required though, probably will take longer to mod than to just run past the NPCs in game.

the big mod that everyone talks about mainly is SCS - sword coast stratagems - it makes the gamer harder in many ways, the main way is by vastly improving enemy mages AI (they use spells properly now and have prebuffed defensive spells up) i would stay away from SCS unless you are a pro, in which case you already know if you want SCS or not.

despite all the confusion and arguing about versions and EE vs OG, for most people (especially newcomers), you can just get the EE of bg1 or 2 on steam/gog and play it out the box just fine without changing anything, have fun. the more autistic you want to be regarding getting the game looking and feeling like it did in 1998, the more work you'll have to put in.

As long as you agree minsc is based i'm satisfied.

Its gonna play a bit like ass. Touch screens will be the mouse and you're gonna keep selecting characters, pausing and unpausing. If you dont mind that, then thats ok, suit yourself. But i bet touch screen controls are better for turnbased. Rtwp is so much pausing and better for keyboard and mouse
