A lot of these issues would be fixed if Sakurai and Nintendo talked to Third Parties and asked them to co-developed Third Party packs. That way the characters submitted and made would be by their owners. And the pressure wouldn't just be on Sakurai's team alone. Of course each pack will have it's own price and probably a pack containing characters from Square Enix will cost more than Capcom's set of characters. But you get the general idea. That way less people come out disappointed.

Like it or not, Kirby is a very alive and supported series, but Smash treats it like it hasn't had a good game in over two decades. It's the only first-party series represented that has this problem and only seems to be happening due to one man's stubbornness.
Adeleine happens to be my first pick for a Kirby newcomer, but really the Sakurai-era curse has to end one way or another.
