>you will never experience the comfyness of 2004-06 runescape
>you will never come home from school to hang out with your friends in varrock
You will never experience the comfyness of 2004-06 runescape
So much soul..
Real men played MapleStory back then.
These old MMOs are literally just GRINDGRINDGRINDGRINDGRINDGRINDGRINDGRIND
You were just too much of a retarded kid to understand back then. If you still play Runescape today, may god have mercy on you.
Also this
>tfw played Runescape but wanted to play Maplestory but computer couldn't run it
Who else here scammed noobs in Lumbridge
this era of runescape looks better than now era of runescape
I thought it was just me. Why does it all feel so comfy?
>not playing OSRS in the /vg/ cc
Still pretty cozy
because it was, I mean, immersion at its best
the vast amount of things that you could do with the environment gotcha sucked into the world immediatly
will miss it
gonna miss thinking i was baller for training up on the normal sized rats in lumby while my friend went and mined the shit to make me full steel armour and bought me a red cape
i thought he was so fucking cool
cyan: wave: > > > >
Parade is the most nostalgic feeling. Take me back bros :'(
youtube.com
Ur go to scam?
>yesterday was the 13th anniversary of the fally massacre
Where does the time go bros...
You've got it all wrong. It wasn't 'grind' and people weren't spazzing out about efficiency. You just did what you did to get better while in between you would hang out with people sometimes strangers for fun because screw efficiency. Game is about fun. As you get older though, life makes you focus too much on getting everything right and that transfers over to video games. The worst of it all.
*ruins your game*
I mean there is OSRS
the huge amount of skills and activities you had made most of us not even try to max and just play for the fun
the grinding came mostly from gold, and since practically training every skill could make you profit, you would end up leveling everything without even trying, just for fun
Nigga, just because you were fucking ignorant back then doesn't mean it didn't exist. There's literally no content besides grinding. The "social interaction" parts literally only came because people were so fucking sick of grinding they needed literally ANYTHING else to do. That's all of these MMOs.
Ya'll niggas look back on everything with rose tinted glasses and remember when shit was "simple" but it's just not the case. I'd GREATLY prefer a game where even when the smoke and mirrors are pulled back it's still fun to a game that's only fun when the grind of obfuscated by ignorance.
Just go play Monster Hunter. If you have a PC, go play Monster Hunter World.
it ddidn't turn into a faggy grind until they added skillcapes
until then it felt like a gentle sandbox with no rush to reach whatever level, you just played how you felt
then skillcapes came along and the whole game shifted, suddenly earning the most xp with the least amount of wasted time was all people gave a shit about
who gave a fuck about like 2/3 of the skills until skillcapes came out anyway, the only cape that mattered back then was the blue cape in f2p or the firecape in p2p
yeah, because it was so much fun to wait for 12 hours to sell your tuna
Yes, it was. You had to interact with people who were also waiting even though they looked AFK, they would respond.
listen retard, every mmo had grinding, the point is that it was FUN, because you could always do a lot of other stuff if you didn't want to grind
>blue cape
>not purple cape
that's right
>Just go play Monster Hunter. If you have a PC, go play Monster Hunter World.
>rainy day outside
>rain hitting the window
>comfy osrs music playing
Nothing like it
Quests in this game are masterrace. Some of the pre 06/07 quests though are cryptic as fuk and pretty much only autists could figure them out without guides.
Started OSRS last year after not touching RS for more than half a decade and it was absolutely comfy. Finished RfD at around 72cmb, feelsgoodman
Yeah because it was great when OSRS first launched and auto typers were rampant in west Varrock. There was so much fucking player interaction with the massive amounts of fucking TEXT SPAM to try to sell/buy anything.
You're a fucking retarded purist that doesn't understand that this is what it was back in the day and what it will always be as long as autotypers exist. This isn't player interaction. Going on a forum and looking for someone to sell shit isn't player interaction. You trade goods for gold and then you fucking walk away and go back to doing literally anything else.
You literally have to stop playing the game so you can sell some shit so you can go back to playing the game. You retards will never understand what its like to actually sit in a spot and try to sell something for 20min-40min at a time. This has never been player interaction. This will never be player interaction. You don't sell someone something and become best friends with them. You see more interaction with faggots that fashionscape at Vwest alching and roleplaying being straight, not buy saying "I'll give you 210 gp for those iron bars instead of 230 gp". That's not fucking meaningful. You don't make friends that way, and you never have. God you cunts are so dense.
What year was skillcapes? 2008? 09? It was such a long time ago that I can't even remember.
Wrong, real men played Nexus
>autism the post

he's right tho
>tfw come back after a hiatus and this comes out
>go to world 1 varrock to buy some stuff
>there's absolutely fucking nobody when generally it would full
>thinking what the fuck and that runescape had died
To this day, I still have no idea where everyone went. Hundreds of people don't just disappear in that world. If they're not in Varrock they have to be somewhere.
based
maybe they're playing the game
Reminder we're in the golden age of runescape right now, enjoy it while you can
You didn't wait though. You made posts on the forum and interacted with people or you sought out the worlds and cities that likely had buyers, interacting with people. It was part of the immersion. Grand Exchange was one of the first steps towards muh assembly line theme park faggotry that other MMOs were doing.
This kills the nostalgia fag.
blue is the cape of champions, user
>golden age
>less than 10% 2009's playerbase
how?
I don't know man. I walked throughout the world looking for survivors. Even passed by Draynor and no one was even fishing there. Coincidentally, Lumbridge bank had people.
all the shit mods quit
no, but the music will always exist, and thats pretty alright
OSRS can't send you back in time
>many foolish kids playing back then with rares when they were much cheaper
>super easy to lure them off the forum marketplace to edge or varrock wildy
Those salty tears were delicious.
okay cunt, tell me what's autistic
sitting at vwest for 20-40mins at a time trying to sell your shitty goods with an autotyper or throwing your shit in G.E. and going to talk to a few people while you get rid of some alchables and maybe talk to a few new people doing a little bit of bank standing?
You're a fucking retard because I'm telling you the real truth of what the game is instead of your shitty rose-tinted glasses of what you think the game is.
G.E. doesn't force you to be efficient, it's just a tool to help. The same way the G.E. can be used for you to bank stand some skills and possibly talk to people being retarded at the G.E. It's literally a gathering hub for people to do whatever they want, but your autism and social ineptness is so ingrained into your pathetic fucking head that you get nervous typing "hi" to someone you don't know in chat. You need an icebreaker like "selling tuna for 100gp ea" for you to even muster up any courage to even face another player's direction. You pathetic fucking worm.
Efficiency ruined old school, prove me wrong
I used to sell lobbies 200 a pop you lil bitch
OSRS or are we talking old school. I mean runecraft runners was efficient and cool.
>You made posts on forums
>part of the immersion
people ASKED for GE, if everyone that actually liked the update was still here commenting just like you fake purists are, in such a faggot way, then you would realize how the thing actually improved the game and made it more fun
as some other user said, player interaction never came from trading
the only ones crying about GE are those who enjoyed scamming noobs
You mean RS2 as old school was always about efficiency. Also no shit anyone who has retired from Runescape knows this.
I can't because I only play 3
>Play Runescape in early 06
>Meet someone named tking or something like that
>Asking me to join his world
>Didn't know how to switch

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
spotted the babby who couldn't haggle
>tfw lost my beret this way
That thing cost me like 300k or whatever price it was back then.
>Buy goods at world 2 falador park
>Go to world 1
>Sell it at a higher price in west varrock bank
misplaceditems.com
>OSRS is so popular it has overtaken RS3
>this faggoty stories of perceived solitude when in reality you're just some enormous faggot.
And you're as broke today as you were back then. No one cares what you sold shit food for.
Spotted the retard who thinks autotyping central, where the chat moves so fast you can't even read it, was any place to haggle
Get fucked, retard.
Using an autotyper is autistic, but so is grinding just to repeatedly interface with an automated auction house screen. What they should have done is integrated the trade bulletins in a more immersive way. For example, people selling fish should post at a bulletin in the fishing guild, and buyers could reach it some other more interesting way. The whole point is immersion after all. Grand Exchange is about as immersive as leaving the game to post on a forum.
>that gang of people with their phats and crackers in falador park every time
>talks about classic runescape
>posts screenshot of the 3D update, not the original with the sprites
fuck off zoomer
>Grand Exchange is about as immersive as leaving the game to post on a forum
how can leaving the game be equally immersive as having the thing in the game? you purists make no sense
>tfw rs1 is so underrated no one even remembers it and even calls RS2 as Runescape.
>Have shitty but obscure item
>Buddy offers to sell it at a stupid high price
>Stand on the other side of the bank offering to buy it for an even higher price
>Retard buys it expecting to flip and we world hop
Because it's a fucking gay automated system that just exists without properly fitting into the game lore or encouraging people to think about the setting you faggot. "Duh magic channels and shiet" is not a proper integration.
THIS IS RUNESCAPE
So instead of just having a trade complete instantly I want you to go through the effort of looking at hundreds of offers of the same item, in the hopes you find something you want. Then I want you to hope that the item is still available. Then you're going to PM someone and going through the process of hopping worlds, finding a meeting place and then finally making your interaction. Oh wait, you have to worry about dudes scamming you in-trade screen when you finally get there.
No cunt, you're autistic. G.E. is a tool, because you got merched like a little bitch doesn't make it evil. You're so fucking stupid. You're so fucking insane to think this is good in any way. This isn't fucking player interaction. This isn't fucking meaningful connections with real people. Holy fuck you cunts put this idea on such a high pedestal that you never actually went to castlewars/clanwars/any minigame and made friends that way. You're all too busy autotyping your way to 10k. I literally still talk to a dude I played soul wars with back in 2010. I bet you can't say the same with your "pLaYEr iNTEraCtiONs"
Early RS2 was much better than classic ever was.
>that hud
Soul.
people who actually play runescape
>ge is pretty nice of convenient
people who played runescape for one hour back in 2006 and one hour in 2013
>REEEEEE
the graphics remind me of a comfy cabin
I swear these "Where Boys/Men/Legends do X" are some of the funniest image macros, they just make me giggle at how silly they are
Everyone was already leaving the game to trade on market sites which were made up mostly of bots.
Classic was a steaming pile of dogshit compared to RS2, anyone that thinks otherwise has some of the most rose tinted goggles in existence.
Ignore the "player interaction" people. The G.E.'s biggest flaw is that it perpetuates this stupid efficiency meme. It trivializes so much content its crazy. I voted yes for the GE on OSRS and if I could go back in time I would vote no.
It should simulate how it would work in such a setting. If you don't like it then fuck off to another game. But I fucked off from all MMOs around 2009 because I realized no one really gives a shit about simulation and they just want to grind and appear wealthy in a video game to strangers across the web.
I had a lot of fun playing it in about 2002 but didn't ever get past level 40 I think. I really wanted to play Ragnarok but it was insanely huge for my dipshit ISDN connection (7kbps...)
reminder that runescape is an actual good mmo and not just nostalgia bait
t.never played it until a year ago
>muh lore
I didn't think you faggots could stoop any lower, but you do.
And the Bank of Runescape somehow has your shit safely stored and is accessible at any location as long as its a bank.
Runescape is based off of magic, its literally in the title of the game. It's as believable as anything else.
Oh and don't get me started on the concept of bank notes, and the fact that monsters drop noted items. Does the bank just spawn these notes spontaneously? Does the bank have infinite items? What are notes really?
Please fuck off.
Because someone plays efficiently doesn't mean you have to. What does efficiency have to do with you? Just play the game how you want to play it, faggot. No one is judging you for the shit you do. No one cares. Just play the fucking game.
>PEOPLE DONT PLAY THE WAY I WANT THEM TO PLAY
You are so autistic.
G.E. allows you to play with the concept of efficiency or if you want to just fuck around you can. This is what's wrong with you cunts, you hate the fact someone is playing the game trying to be the best, you want everyone to be a scrub as you are. How about this cunt, just go be a scrub. There are so many of you clueless cunts, you can find plenty of people to talk to. What business is it of yours how someone entirely separate from you chooses to play a game? Oh wait, it's not. No one fucking cares that you suck at runescape. Just play the game.
>/vg/ cc
this is a joke right? that cc is nothing but beta faggots and the literal trannies they spend all day jerking off. you might as well join herb nation if your standards are that fucking low.
You don't know true 'Scapekino unless you joined in early 2001 and were to see the game grow from the size of a mall to the comparative behemoth it was even by late 2001. The Wilderness update more than doubled the size of the world. RuneScape 2 was a much better game, but it was still quite the journey getting there.
that player owned house stuff they had planned was way too ambitious
>autismo 2.0 the post
...
>Ghost Town
The fuck
>intrigued by edgeville being called ghost town and not the fact they intended for players to have an actual house in varrock
What should I do next bros? I'm getting 75 range so I can finish DS2 and then I might go for a fire cape?
Go do construction and throw a house party.
99 Runecrafting
>No one is judging you for the shit you do
How big was the smirk on your face when you wrote this?
Achievement diaries are a good way to get goals done as an aside from quests. Even getting all hard tasks done should probably keep you busy for a month.
I've done all easy and medium apart from Kourend & Kebos and the Western Provinces. Mory hard is the only hard one I've done so far.
>What does efficiency have to do with you?
I mean for starters it has huge economic implications.
this
No smirk at all. No one genuinely cares. Ironman was probably one of the better updates to come out. People autistically doing barbfishing don't go to Catherby to scream at them for fishing lobbies. When you see people doing something stupid or wearing something retarded the first thought people have now is he's either a total noob who got back into the game because of mobile or it's an ironman. Even if its the former, people are willing to give you money to help get you started. No one fucking cares. You'll get the occasional autist making fun of your gear, but its because you're cb 100+ without basic shit like barrows gloves. No one cares that you're doing slayer without a cannon. No one cares that you waited until 99hp to start doing wintertodt. No one cares that you're bank standing without skilling so you can talk to strangers. No one cares that you're attempting to kill bosses solo when you're underleveled. No one cares that you're playing castlewars. No one fucking cares. This is what these autistic cunts. They're under the impression they're being judged for every click, when in actuality no one gives a fuck. People will give you advice on how to do things better, but in true fashion, they overreact to even advice. If someone is bothering you, you put them on your ignore list, and its like they don't exist anymore.
I don't understand how anyone could get bullied in that game. Even if someone crashes your world, there are so many worlds now because of RS mobile that hopping isn't even a big deal. These faggots are so sensitive that they're too intimidated to play a game because someone might give you advice on how to be better.
>what are Venezuelans.
The best methods will always be expensive, regardless of efficiency. Efficiency is also the reason why dragon axes aren't 1m-3m like they used to be 9 years ago. They're affordable. It goes both way.
You should probably work toward elite void, or void at all if you don't have it. Relleka hard is a really good diary to knock out, same with karamja hard because it's a good tele to shilo village and Duradel is a really good slayer master.
how did you guys pay for the subscription while being a kid.
I really wanted to play runescape and tibia as kid but even hinting the idea of paying monthly for a video game made my dad either laugh super with slight anger or just anger him
>mom, dad can you buy me membership
>okay son, get up the good grades
Mailed jagex my allowance
Runescape was never a good MMO. Only poorfags played it.
I always wondered if this actually worked.
What was the last era with soul here?
till 6th grade I was top tier taking first places but the only online game we ever played was counter strike, I wish I could buy money from my parents with my grades. fuck
cyan:wave2: stfu noob
For me, it's Lunar Isle
>you will never experience the comfyness of 2004-06 runescape
>you will never come home from school to hang out with your friends in varrock
uh actually i did zoomer faggot. while i missed out on vanilla wow's glory years, i spent those times playing peak runescape 2 in 2004-2006. pure fucking comfort.
I recall coming home from Medieval Times (murrikan knight entertainment, google it) school field trip and asking my mom if i can play runescape. then i saw my friend there and we larp'd some of the shit from there
good times
The one thing it had going for it was three hitting
>the sheer terror of seeing a nigga in monk robes, ruby amulet, iron large helm and rune 2hander
cousin and aunt bullied my mom to buy a sub for me.
then later i did chores.
what do i do next? i got quest cape yesterday
01-05
early zoomer was the beginning of the end.
I don't have void at all yet. You think I could beat DS2 or Jad now I have 75 ranged?
holy shit based aunt and cousin.
were they this much of runescape fans
I hated this shit. Like you fucks spend $30+ on alcohol most weekends but you are somehow surprised at my $5 monthly sub fee? Providing me with 100+ hours of entertainment?
Fucking boomers. If my future kids get into vidya I'll understand. At least now subscription fees are normalized with Normieflix and Hulu and shit.
slayer and grind clues.
my friends got membership
i didnt however
i really just walked around the game for several years doing nothing really
i was just walking around now that i look back on it trying to get some of the most trivial items but for some reason i made a whole adventure out of it
pretty sure i only got as far as mithril armor on my first account
Anyone can do basically any content in the game with blowpipe+dhides
just got a master clue that i don't have herblore requirement for yet. thanks for reminding me user i know what i can be doing now
white:wave: SELLING SANTA HAT 20 MIL
>tfw didn't fall for 'oldschool' Runescape or WoW 'classic'
>tfw kino memories are just as fond as ever
>tfw "muh efficiency" and "muh xp/h"
>tfw slayer/bossing retards and retarded decisions made skilling irrelevant
Did runescape unironically teach anyone else here to type?
School didn't teach me shit, but in Runescape I was typing the same selling/buying messages over and over and over again, learning how to get adept with the keyboard. Not only in W1/W2 trading but also for talking to people and stuff.
Jagex essentially made a fucking typing game. I wonder if the britbong educational depts. funded them.
You can definitely do Jad, 75 ranged is a good spot, especially because blowpipe is so crazy. DS2 might be a little more challenging, especially when fighting the brutal dragons and mithril. The boss is a little technical, and vorkath is also weaker than what he is normally. It's probably going to be a little RNG dependent. For the final galvek I suggest you do the classic ruby bolts into diamond bolts.
I think its a good quest for you to knock out, it's going to make dragon tasks easier, but the odds of you getting vorkath backpack are slim to none. With your levels trying to kill fully powered vorkath is going to be really difficult. You'd need the best possible BGS specs and be able to woox-walk like its second hand. Wait until 85 ranged to farm for the vorkath backpack. While you're doing that you should get salve imbued from nmz. Also knock out shit like fighter torso if you don't have it.
fuck pure fags. those fucking assholes thought they were hot shit with their gay robes. fuck give me back my whip you assholes
>Efficiency is also the reason why dragon axes aren't 1m-3m like they used to be 9 years ago. They're affordable. It goes both way.
Interesting, I look at this as a negative.
right here lad.
>tfw finally switched to dvorak
I literally got a black mark for supposedly using an autotyper trying to sell shit bank back in the day, I appealed telling Jagex I didn't and they reneged deciding they had no proof.
nice way to out yourself as someone who never played an mmo in that period of time. people played just to dick around and enjoy the fact that you could actually be connected with other people from around the world because it was still a fairly new concept
>those scrubs who would accuse me of auto-alching because i could click a mouse and single hand type faster than them
I was playing a far superior mmo
I’d pay many sheckles to play this game again.
I feel bad for people who try to rationalize missing out on golden age RS2.
No MMO compares to it.
It isn't, because the same efficiency fags are the reason why archer and zerk ring are the price that they are.
And before you start, no the casual player does not need these rings in any sense of the word. Casual players benefit more with a RoW with the passive coin pick up ability at a slayer task than they do with +4 ranged bonus which will only increase xp/h marginally. You look at it as a negative because you're narrowminded and thought DKS only money was dragon axes. You are out of touch with the game. You have a shallow understanding of what's good and what's bad. Your opinions are meaningless for good reason. With everything you could say is possibly a negative in the game I could explain to you why you're categorically wrong in all accounts that you could bring up. Just try to refute me, you will never manage to best me on a single point.
>rationalize missing out on RS
I distinctly remember my friends and I playing the game and deciding a different MMO was way better.
RS felt like a casual fest filled with BRs.
>RS felt like a casual fest filled with BRs.
so you were f2p and still think you actually played it?
>mfw resubbing and not doing shit
so sick of doing this shit. boring game, but i miss it when i'm not playing. weird.
i relate so hard
You are all over the place my dude. Its getting really hard to look past you contradicting yourself. Take it easy.
I’m pretty sure there’s no tier of payment that made the death penalty worse then losing your gear.
In Astoria your deaths were listed your deaths in your profile and you took a permanent stat hit. You literally had to re-roll your character if you did stupid shit and died all the time. On top of that, as per the genre norm, your shit was potable if you were PKd and if you died somewhere crazy, you had to do a grave run.
I just thought RS mechanically seemed to pander to casuals
>gets called out for being retarded
>doubles down
Looks like I'm done with you.
i buy the gold premier package every year even though i only play like 1-3 months in that year
i just want the option available to me
How is OSRS or even modern RS? More specifically, is castle wars still active? Id love to just recapture that feeling of 50vs50 or whatever the max number of players was again, it was such a sprawling battlefield.
I'd be willing to pick either up again if you guys that have been around for a bit still say its a good time.
Nobody does those activities anymore, it's a minmax fest where all people do is boss.
my dad never paid the subscription for me but bought a club penguin membership for my sister
fuck
i've heard that some people arrange castle wars from time to time but all minigames that dont give you some useful item are basically dead
Hearing those opening notes will never fail to bring a stupid grin to my face
Try to find out how pures do castle wars. They typically spend time there for items that are best in slot. I'm sure you could find some steady matches, but it's probably not even close to what it used to be.
ignorance is bliss
I did experience it though.
