Bungie is now self-publishing Destiny 2 on Steam The base game is Free-to-Play and is monetized with sales of expansion content, similar to The Elder Scrolls Online
So now that we're going to have a loot shooter with good gunplay, is there any reason for Borderlands to exist?
The game uses a centralized account system. If you own Destiny 2 on battle.net you're going to be able to access your account through the steam version. You'll also have access to any expansion content you bought through battle.net
Dylan Roberts
Never mind the thousands upon thousands of rpg maker games.
Easton Perez
>steam even more fucking stupid decisions from Bungie should've been Epic Store instead since that's the future where pc gaming is headed
Blake Barnes
This is based beyond words.
Matthew Wright
>the future of gaming is a store that's going to shutdown before 2020 because everyone just pirates the exclusives and there's no other reason to use the store please don't bait the newfags
Ethan King
Is this the dedicated Destiny 2 shilling thread? So in order to have all the content, I need to buy Forsaken right now then wait for the annual pass to come out right? This reads like trying to make me buy the game twice mr marketer.
Christian Flores
Anyone here still play? Last time I did I used nameless midnight/positive outlook/origin story. I'm wondering what the newer weapons worth getting are since I'm way behind the times and don't really know where to look for this info anymore
Jason Brown
>Epic >the future of pc gaming thats not Stadia
Lucas Phillips
if it was free right now I could have considered buying the upgrade when it came out sept has other releases
Joseph Davis
>This reads like trying to make me buy the game twice mr marketer. I did a googling and apparently everything you have bought in the battle.net version will carry over to the steam version you don't need to buy the base game again either since that'll be f2p
Owen Ward
Everything that's free is the cancerous garbage part of the game. If you want the content that turns it from trash to mediocre to perhaps good, you have to pay a ridiculous amount of money.
Jason Sullivan
Future of my pirate voyage
Blake Cruz
>So now that we're going to have a loot hsooter with good gunplay, is there any reason for- I just got Borderlands 2 with ALL THE DLC plus a whole extra game I'm not going to bother with for $4.79. I'd still have to pay ~70 goybucks just to get the DLC for Destiny 2. Plus I can mod Borderlands 2 for varied and different experiences each time I play.
Jaxon James
We now are able to equip special weapons instead of being forced to use two primaries. That is, you can now use a loadout like a pulse rifle (primary/white ammo), a shotgun (special/green ammo) and a machine gun (heavy/purppe ammo). You can delete enemies much faster this way. Also, fusion rifles recently got huge PVE buffs (something like 40% damage increase across the board).
Mason Jackson
ESO isn't free to play
Landon Powell
It's only like 40 burgers for the rest of the content silly
Camden Anderson
>is there any reason for Borderlands to exist? Does offline play count?
Zachary Cook
Oh hell yeah I was unaware of that change
Jason Jackson
>similar to The Elder Scrolls Online I don't understand where you dumb fucks come from
Jayden Wood
There are also kinetic special weapons so you can have something like a kinetic sniper rifle, energy hand cannon and a heavy.
Tyler Thompson
What sort of load out do you think most people run with? The one you mentioned?
Liam Allen
>similar to The Elder Scrolls Online
Is that really the first example that comes to mind?
Nolan Ramirez
You can't read can you. If you have only Destiny 2 now you effectively own nothing come september. If you own Forsaken/Annual Pass then you'll have those when it transfers. If you have none of that, then all you need to buy is Shadowkeep, since the base game is free and Forsaken/Annual Pass will be irrelevant.
David Stewart
Big if true.
Austin King
Yes that's a typical loadout. Scouts and autorifles unfortunately underperform nowadays, and it's all about hand cannons and pulse rifles for primaries. There is one SMG that is dominating. Shotguns dominate special weapons but with the new fusion rifle buff we might see more of those. Heavies are best with MGs.
There are of course a lot of exceptions in exotic weapons and some pinnacle weapons but there is a decent amount of variety to go through.
Nathan Morris
>if you want content that makes it good
Most of Forsaken/Annual Pass updates and improvements were rolled into the base game. When the game goes live on Steam you can just buy Shadowkeep and skip all of the old shit if you don't want to play it.
Connor Morris
It as auto aim.
Dropped
Aaron Peterson
If you use M/KB it does not, actually
Elijah Ward
(You)
Justin Adams
Obviously. But since Forsaken is not included in the pre order offer for Shadowkeep, its best if one never bought it to buy the complete collection for 40 bucks rather than 99 right now then get the annual pass, which will go apparently for, you guessed it, 40 bucks IIRC. The pass being unavailable right now. But if you want the preorder content you have to buy on steam for 60 even when its a waste of money if you already own the previous expansions minus Forsaken. Now I don't know why anyone would want the preorder content but this is the way they sell it.
No I can. They are trying to sell the game twice.
Christopher Clark
>He didn't experience the bullshit of QBB during Forsaken
Jose Sanders
Not looking forward to all the casuals crying about how they can't get some of the best weapons in the game without actually working towards it.
Isaiah Bell
Mountaintop and Recluse will be nerfed by then.
Justin Adams
Hand Cannons do have some auto aim even on M/KB.
Evan White
Buying Forsaken if you intented to wait till steam release is entirely you *choosing* to purchase old content so you can experience it for whatever reason, be it the story or to access the raid for weapons/armor. If you own all that shit, then you don't have to buy anything but Shadowkeep. Just wait until you can transfer your data over to steam and then you'll have everything.
Weapons have projectile assistance. Some have more than others, QBB had the bonus given to Linear Fusions combined with a stacking bug that gave it essentially 40 percent extra. All it really does it make the targeting hitbox slightly bigger.
Christopher Mitchell
is destiny 1 worth playing before getting this?
Carson Perez
I don't even remember heavy MGs being in the game. Thanks for the info user I appreciate it
Isaiah Rodriguez
I'd recommend watching a story summary if you want (though there is one in the game). Much of the lore can be found on www.ishtar-collective.net if you want to just flip through it.
Benjamin James
They were added back in with Thunderlord, then two were introduced in Black Armory (one was for christmas and then it was gone). Gambit's Wild added another, Opulence added two more.
Luis Harris
>tfw reading the new Calus lore I am scared for our future, that dude is batshit insane and I used to think he was a cool dude.
>man sticks his dick in darkness juice and becomes a nihilist when he used to rule an entire arm of the galaxy
what's his fucking endgoal man
Jason Torres
Speaking of which if I buy forsaken or the new one amd I going to get black armory or opulence or whatever the fuck seasonal content they had?
Jordan Johnson
Forsaken gives you the forsaken story, dreaming city, tangled shore, raid and all that stuff.
The Annual Pass is separate and gives you Black Armory, Gambit's Wild and Opulence which just released. This only really matters if you want to play now, though.
Andrew Ramirez
His endgoal is to be the last living thing in the universe before "the end," and our guardian will be the second last. He is absolutely convinced that there is no stopping whatever it is that he witnessed, to the point where he will exterminate 90% of a civilization to "liberate" them from the pain and suffering. He is hellbent on enlightening (forcing) everyone else to live in the present and endulge themselves in their desires because there is no hope for a future.
The only reason we are allied with him at this point is because he will help us in our fight against Savathun, and because humanity and the Awoken would be wiped clean from existence if we were to fight him.
Luke Butler
So do you think it's worth it to get any of the seasonal stuff in addition to the expacs?
Nicholas Myers
wew all the epic shills ITT
Cameron Nelson
>Epic shills >implying it's not console shitposters pretending to be PC players
Kevin Ortiz
That trash at least has some soul
Brody Howard
>similar to ESO user people actually play eso now they know that's not true
Brody Price
I been trying to get a dirt cheap deal on Destiny 2 and all it's DLC, but now they're just gonna raise the raises on Steam. I'm not even gonna waste my time with it anymore.
Wow, that game I played the demo/beta of on battle.net two years ago and was very generic and bad is now coming to steam. But hey I already grabbed it while it was free on battle.net last year but have no reason to play it.
Parker Miller
Why though? Destiny and its sequel are grindy console trash, there is no pc fanbase to be driven off.
Hudson Morgan
Do you want to have access to all the armor and guns and exotics present in that content and bring forward into the new stuff? If so it is. The community as a whole is about to get a whole lot fucking bigger too.
Well I know all that, whatever he saw must've really fucked him up considering who he was before.
>game gets even cheaper to get into >"its more expensive, fuck"
What
>huge pc commuity >no fanbase to drive off
Grayson Brooks
They're eliminating grind in Sept, or at least it will be very minimal. They want people to be able to get into the game quickly, where the "endgame is the game".
Also out of the 104 teams that cleared the recent raid in the first 24 hours, only 1 team was on PS4. The rest were on PC.
Brody Myers
But can I say fuck the primary and special ammo and wield three green guns at once?
Christopher Baker
I really like destiny 1 and can't wait
Jack Lee
>Do you want to have access to all the armor and guns and exotics present in that content and bring forward into the new stuff? Point taken. Thank you for the help user
Brandon Powell
The third slot is always heavy but the first two can be green if you want. But yes you can have two shotguns/sniper rifles if you want (there are also heavy shotguns/sniper rifles so you can technically have 3). On the flipside you could go double primaries again if you want for some reason.
Problem with that is your ammo economy will be tough since green ammo is more rare than white.
Bentley Foster
You can wield two green and one purple if you want, though that would be very ammo inefficient. You start by splitting the base, and any green ammo you acquire will be split between both weapons unless one is full.
Wyatt Evans
Destiny 2 was hot garbage. One of my biggest regrets.
Adrian Jackson
>he plays destiny Top laff
James Reyes
I've done the 3 shotgun meme before unironically in Last Wish, it works because of raid banners and also since there's not too much trash to worry about.
Jonathan Clark
keyword here is: was
Hunter Ortiz
>bought the Legendary edition a few days ago for 30 dollars. Fml
Julian Cook
>base game free >cant find it on steam ??
Benjamin Russell
17 september
Michael Peterson
Comes out in September you dumby
Justin Barnes
>just like, buy more stuff bro it makes it all good no
Cameron Richardson
>releasing a month before death stranding
another great call bungie
Gavin Ross
I dropped the game after Forsaken, before the annual pass content started dropping. I own Forsaken, is it worth jumping back into yet or do I wait for September?
Owen Ward
no tux, no bux
Joshua Morales
Epic store doesn't have hunt and snare so I don't care.
Parker White
I see no problem with releasing a game a month before a movie comes out
Daniel Davis
>releasing a pc game one month before a ps4 exclusive movie oh no whatever shall we do
Brayden Ramirez
Anyone who does not own the game is meant to buy now, then keep on buying later. For a game meant to go free to play, this is scummy. Anyone who wants to actually get the future content right now and already owns everything wil have bought the game multiple times over, even rebuying old content they already own. This is the same thing they have been doing since the beginning, making people buy the game multiple time.
Gavin Lopez
Of course you dont see a problem, you're defending Destiny. Those blinders are on tight.
BA was okay, worth going through forges for weapons and also the raid. JW was dogshit, I skipped it. It's a bit too early to tell for Opulence but so far I like it. Menagerie is really fun with light raid-like mechanics, and the new raid is fun but difficult.
Leo Nguyen
>can only buy Shadowkeep but not Forsaken on Steam This is all really confusing. I have the game + season pass but not anything else, I have been waiting on a deal on Forsaken because I don't want to pay full price but they keep glossing over it in favor of Shadowkeep, so I'm lost
>expecting a PC crowd >not a dota, moba or mmo Yeah no
Alexander White
>destiny 2 >loot shooter >bullet sponges >good no
Adam Ramirez
Why don't you read the product description before posting. Fucking retard
Chase Martin
What the fuck are you talking about. If you own everything now you aren't rebuying anything, you dumb fuck. If you don't own the game now, you can CHOOSE to pay for OPTIONAL SHIT. Everything relevant when the game goes free to play and Shadowkeep drops costs either NOTHING, to play the base game and do stuff or 35 dollars to go RIGHT to current content, skipping everything entirely.
Aaron Robinson
>bullet sponges With Forsaken's weapon update you can delete big yellow bar enemies quickly. Not nearly as spongy as Borderlands enemies.
Jaxon Ross
>35 dollars is a ridiculous amount of money
Christ, get a fucking job.
Julian Lewis
buying forsaken is only necessary if you want the exotics/stuff in forsaken, otherwise you can just get Shadowkeep. Forsaken will be outdated content but because it cost a lot to make and has a lot to it they feel its worth to keep a pricetag on it.
David Turner
I'm richer than you and don't throw money at shit.
Grayson Parker
aren't the only bullet sponges bosses? Doesn't each elemental type actually matter so you can destroy shields or whatever in a few shots? I haven't played since release
Jason Parker
I don't. Is it worth it at any particular price?
Ryder Cox
I'd really rather talk about ESO desu
Evan Thompson
Everything's been decent, but slow. Lots of good weapons and stuff to find too.
Logan Young
I'll pick it up once my college refunds me. Thanks, user.
Noah Perez
>There is one SMG that is dominating which smg is that
William Diaz
>Steam Why would Bungie literally choose bankruptcy.?
>bought ESO forever ago for 5 bucks >had fun but my friend left me alone >quit >now convinced another friend to get it >he gets Warden for free on top of morrowind and i don't this upsets me.
Xavier Cook
Recluse, it'll be nerfed eventually probably.
Leo Allen
>Destiny 2 >good gunplay
Lucas Evans
Bungie sucks dick at making things that aren't Halo. >looter shooter >not borderlands Imagine playing an unfunny borderlands. Jesus Christ I couldn't do it.
Brayden Adams
Name games with good gunplay.
Luis Ward
whats the campaign last boss name again?
Dylan Thompson
They should release it for Steam right now, people would unironically buy it, and the future expansion...
Nathaniel Sanchez
Yeah I do want the stuff in Forsaken, it's just I think it's too pricy for what it is and how long it's been out, along with Bnet's shit regional price. Shadowkeep on Steam right now is a fraction of what Forsaken on B.net costs at the moment and I wanted to see what the pricing would be for Forsaken on Steam but they didn't put it up. Then there's the annual pass which I don't know how it works to muddy the waters even more. Or maybe I'm just stupid.
Borderlands has always had more meaningful content than Destiny in weapons and locations and expansions. D1 and D2 water down their loot because of their terrible pvp modes.
Jordan Green
>Imagine playing an unfunny borderlands user Borderlands is already unfunny. You're 13 years old if you think claptrap is funny.
Mason Hall
no.
Charles Rogers
>looking for realistic gunplay in a game about killing bug aliens and fat aliens why
Austin King
>Epic can't even make shillbait anymore because Google is shilling their own gimmick harder Epic can't do anything right
Robert Gonzalez
They're planning on lowering the cost of Forsaken and (maybe) bundling it with the Annual pass come September I think. Basically Forsaken was a half of year content launch, Annual pass was about nine months experiment. In essence Forsaken is by itself, the pass contains in it 3 seasons worth of content. If you want the stuff for completion reasons, it might just be best to wait for a bundle or the confirmed price drop.
Jaxon Flores
gary
Joseph Bailey
You are just too jaded user, it is okay to crack a smile once in awhile. Are you so desensitized to things that only cuck porn and cunny posting makes you smile?
Justin Reyes
Yeah I guess I'll wait, It's just kinda frustrating they keep glossing over the Forsaken situation.
Adam Jackson
>Richer than me and think 35 dollars is a ridiculous amount of money
Okay pal.
Daniel Jackson
No man, Anhony Burch is not a funny guy, and they let him set the tone for the franchise. It's embarrassing to play. Playing Persona 5 is somehow less so.
Dominic Foster
>the only reason for buying borderlands is that they're throwing it out at a foreclosure sale tier of discount nice
Jeremiah Thompson
forsaken doesn't matter after shadowkeep launches, dawg. It hardly matters now, I don't know why everyone is reeing about this
Asher Bell
are they still going with that stupid-ass MO of making perfectly good content completely obsolete after new content comes out god damn
Brayden Martin
glad I never bought it, and now I might actually play it (on ps4)
But why? Story content isn't why people play Destiny.
If the new friends are expecting story content from this game........ yike brother
Owen Reyes
Because I hate the pvp and honestly I play most of this shit solo. I've never raided as well. I just really like the gunplay and the world is super interesting to me
Hunter Reyes
well youll be getting, crucible, gambit, strikes and all of the year 1 content for free as well as every raid and raid lair released in year 1
Nathaniel Collins
Then you're playing the wrong game dawg. They're moving away from releasing story missions in favor of endgame activities/ways to progress your character.
Samuel Morales
no they arent retard, bungie is splitting from activision so they have to gtfo the blizzard store
Thomas Smith
yeah the bullet sponge argument is pretty outdated. only huge bosses are that spongy anymore
Adam Cook
Ya this will definitely be the straw that broke steam's back.
Christopher Ward
That being said they are making a lot of the content solo-friendly. Recently solo players can do forges, gambit prime/reckoning, and the new Menagarie with matchmaking. There will certainly be stuff to do for solo players, but I wouldn't recommend expecting story content
Jack Fisher
God imagine all the fresh meat in crucible, thats the best news about all of this
Cameron Sullivan
So let me get this straight as somone who owns all the current DLC for Destiny 2 on battle net.
If I buy Shadowkeep on steam, it will link with my battle net profile and I will have all of the DLC?
Daniel Hall
yes
Kevin Davis
they said in the stream that all of your licenses, will carry over in september, but its unclear how this works just yet. Id wait because i bet you will get a discount on shadowkeep since you own everything already
Julian Wood
>Heavies are best with MGs >not using an aggressive frame GL with hard launch, spike grenades, velocity masterwork
Lincoln Wright
Good enough thread i guess
0-4 buy memelands 5-9 pirate memelands and seed for a year
Liam Cox
Not really. for every single good RPG Maker game that manages to be a halfway decent RPG or bend the limits of the system to make something completely new and innovative, there are 900 more shitty horror and OC fanfic games with clashing graphics, piss-poor gameplay and horrible plots. RPG maker has as much soul as Go-Animate
Joshua Gonzalez
>seeding What a cuck
Hudson Cook
they are leaving battle.net because they split from activision. anything you had before will be the same after. it might even work out in your favor monitarily
but it's been free to play for a long time already and that includes on pc.
Carter Richardson
but thats wrong cunt
Aaron Baker
At least I'm not burch or madcuck
Logan Ross
>payed the deluxe edition that game with curse of osiris and warmind >it's now free >practically wasted 150 dollars I hope they give some sort of compensation or discount the DLC
Don't think so, they have sold the base version for like 10USD though, to bait you into expansions.
Cameron King
you'll log in to the same game account through the steam version, so nothing is lost
Adam Carter
Yeah I know you can link accounts, I'm just seething that they made something free I payed over 150 dollars for. I hope they give a discount for people who already bought the game on the new expansions
Tyler Turner
>USD Well here in the land of free, that is europe, it's been free to play on pc, xbox store, i dont know about the rest, but for us yes it's free. Including expansions up until forsaken, if you want forsaken and more you gotta pay.
Joseph Gonzalez
>free to play how badly did they fuck up?
Tyler Brown
Welp. I guess that isn't surprising
Landon Foster
Did you even watch the announcement? "We need an EPIC new partner our game... We are proud to announce we are launching the game on STEAM."
They literally dabbed on EPIC
Ethan Phillips
What I want to know is what Calus will do after we kill whatever it is he saw for "the end." His entire character is based around his knowledge of that. I suspect we will have to kill him afterwards.
I used to think he was cool but the whole Match Confessions chapters are making me doubt our safety under him.
Landon Moore
You could buy the base game on console for like 10 bucks
Chase Fisher
Bungie had enough of chinese companies fucking them over
Chase Evans
Can you link it? All I'm seeing are literal whos making videos about it
Jackson Jackson
I don't really mind them making it free, as that's closer to where I value it than the $100 I spent. However, them not giving discounts or anything just means I'm not playing that shit as I've already spent enough on this garbage.
Gavin Cox
The same shit as IOI is going to happen. Another publisher will soon take control.
Dylan Jones
See
Mason Lee
Have a (You) and a PSA EPIC GAMES STORE IS CANCER BRIBERY IS NOT COMPETITION
lmao. RIP my fellow xchads that couldnt get a day 1 completion.
Ryan Anderson
No problem buddy
Dylan Long
idk about new expansions but combat is pretty uneventful you have your gun, a bomb/spell, melee hit and ultimate ability thats it from what i remember there needs to be more abilities and spells considering its a "mmorpgfps"
Charles Clark
Yeah they really...they really owned epic with that sick burn.
Jonathan Harris
>They're eliminating grind in Sept Did they not say they were making it more RPG-based? > where the "endgame is the game". This is the most zoomer fucking mindset.
Dylan Sanchez
I only played the first raid in D2 when it came out, are any of the other raids still just "get your 6 man group to spin around pat their head and say the alphabet backwards" type shit or did they actually make some interesting mechanics
Bentley Martin
Last wish was pretty good, hardest destiny raid to date
Jackson Morris
The primary complaint from me and my friends with Destiny was the excessive DLC but the game itself is great. The game jumps from a 2/10 to an 8/10 just by not having to pay for it.
Jacob Jones
I'm out, Yea Forums.
Aaron Price
we buying or nah senpai>?
Leo Scott
lmao proof??
Evan Harris
senpai
Kayden Cook
why did "ƒam" get auto changed to "senpai"?
Dylan Baker
They can't even make a Halo game anymore, the last good one they made was Halo 3.
