I think the big problem is for Origins, they took like 90% of the setting from a Song of Ice and Fire. Specifically, this game was written before A Feast For Crows came out, so the only books they had to work with were the best ones.

Then they tried to do their own thing for 2 onward, and, surprise, Bioware's writers aren't as good as George R.R. Martin, who would've thought, right?

Only ever played Origins before, and recently got DA2 for almost nothing on sale. As soon as I'd finished that, I saw that Inquisition was on sale so I figured I'd just chain it through.

Morrigan just told me about the mirror, so I'm currently trying to clean up any side quests I still care about before marching into some elven ruins to stop Cory.

I couldn't play through the game because it's a steaming pile of shit, but from the part I've seen is pretty accurate. The tranny issue is blown out of proportions on Yea Forums, but even without it the lore additions aren't that good. It's also the weirdest choice to give the race with the most rigid caste system the tranny, who decided that shit. If they figured out that humans are to alike to medieval humans and noone would buy a tranny in a human company, just give the trany to the dwarfs. They were never vocal on the issue as far as I remember.

Origins had some desire demons actually making you bargain with them.

I'm playing a female elf to absorb the Well of Sorrows and see how the Solas romance ends up in Tresspasser. The fact that you keep schematics and collectables has made the questing tolerable and switching things up to make Loghain show up has been entertaining.

There are a few lore tidbits in the main game that are decent, but its just not worth it to suffer through a 60 to 100 hour playthrough for them

Inquisition is a damn joke compared to origins

Dragon Age makes me feel so damn sad to think about where it is now. I'm one of few people who didn't mind 2, I know it had a shitton of problems, but I still enjoyed it.
Then Inquisiton was more bad than good, but Trespasser saved it and make me interested again.
Now we hear about how it's basically being made into an EA cash cow and it makes me so sad and angry.
I just want it to be good again.

I don't understand how DA: Inquisition is more appreciated than ME:Andrómeda. I found Andromeda pretty enjoyable despite its flaws while Inquisition bored me to death.

I think they kind of succeed and fail in different areas. Andromeda got more flak because it was much worse on launch. Countless bugs, awkward animations, just a lot of general jank amidst everything else.

Inquisition worked fine as far as I recall. It was just really bland if you were a completionist and tried doing every single filler fetch quest to the point where it became a singleplayer MMO.

As far as general writing goes, it's a bit more of a mixed bag. I think I liked two or three characters in Andromeda, and everyone else was a diet coke version of older fan favorite characters. I liked more characters in Inquisition, they just didn't have much payoff. You pretty much had to buy the real ending separately, and couldn't even do that for all consoles.

I've tried to get into it like five times now and every time I gave up on it. It's just such a fucking drag, man. The combat feels like grindy trash, levelling up is simplified to the point where it's insulting and you can't do that thing where you give your part members complex lists of orders to follow. Like, the option's still there but the depth has been removed. everything about this game is so shallow.
