Some faggot will try to say Silent Hill 2, but don't listen to them. Silent Hill 2 is like Lynch if it was written by a retarded teenager.
Heh. Good answer. To answer OP, closest is Deadly Premonition, but even that is shit.
Kentucky Route Zero
Sanitarium
Deadly premonition
killer7
Max Payne 2. And only Max Payne 2, the other two games in the series don't feel very lynchian at all. But 2 just has that thing about it.
Kentucky Fried Chicken
Harvester of course
Meme pick but what can I say
itt: no one knows what lynchian is
Bubsy visits the James Turrell Retrospective
>hurr Lynchian is le dark twist and le surreal
when the FUCK is act 5 coming out
Proof you don’t know what lynchain is if you don’t consider surrealism.
>Of or pertaining to David Keith Lynch (born 1946), American filmmaker and director whose surrealist films are characterized by dream imagery and meticulous sound design.
Dead space is a lynchian game.
Only good answer so far
No game or movie has ever made me feel as uncomfortable as Eraserhead
SubaHibi, kinda
I am jazz
most of the indie hipster shit games are trying vey hard to be lynchian
Games for this feel
Not even Hellraiser?
pic related
Although you could argue it's more cronenberg than lynch
Barry?
games with this feel?
>dream imagery
Mario. All Mario games ever are Lynchian.
Deadly premonition
*ting ting ting*
*ahem"
FUCK Dougie and FUCK season 3 and FUCK jannies
Eraserhead directly taps into a lot of natural anxieties. We have literally evolved to find the stuff in Eraserhead unnerving.
your mom
Reminder that Eraserhead was simply an artsy looking Repulsion reskin.
No, fuck you.
killer7, deadly premonition, alan wake but only american nightmare, maaaaybe life is strange
fallout new vegas dead money dlc is giving me this strange dreamy vibes
Don't watch Repulsion, Tenant and Barton Fink then.
Lynch is a meme. You could take any random shit movie and then scrambled the scenes around and then release it with Lynch's name all over it. Lynch psueds would be falling over themselves to write deep dive essays dissecting every moment and declaring it a work of genius.
He's made a few great scenes over his career like OP's pic but he's about 90% meme. Twin Peaks season 3 would have been torn apart if that exact same content was released without the Lynch brand name.
>dream imagery and meticulous sound design.
LiterallyTwilight Princess
U right
I've never seen Eraserhead, but I've seen Repulsion. How the hell do you do Repulsion with a man in 1977 without making him look like a homosexual pansy? Your comment has actually inspired me to go watch Eraserhead.
>Twin Peaks season 3 would have been torn apart if that exact same content was released without the Lynch brand name.
If the same content was released with Lynch's name attached, then it wouldn't make sense outside the context of the Twin Peaks universe that it deconstructs and transforms.
too bad paratropic fucking sucks
How about if Lynch claimed to walk away from the project but continued working on the show secretly and showtime released it under the name of some nobody. It would get called a piece of shit
I like it, but it feels like more of a teaser for a bigger project than a full game in itself.
What exactly is unconventional about the structure of Blue Velvet, The Straight Story, or Elephant Man? You sound like one of those retards that wants to use their lil brain when watching a movie instead of just your eyes and ears. Lynch is not deep, just a good filmmaker
The worst thing is that even after watching this scene for the hundred time, it still gives me the creep. It must be good sound design.
Eraserhead is about anxieties of a young man married and expecting a baby unable to find himself in that situation. Everything is overdrawn because otherwise it would be impossible to recreate the levels of anxiety our brain produces in such situations.
> He never watched The Straight Story or Elephant Man
Okay, buster.
Killer is Dead
Pathologic
and maaaaaybe Turgor
>What exactly is unconventional about the structure of Blue Velvet, The Straight Story, or Elephant Man?
Nothing. Those films are basic pleb shit. Very LOW IQ motion pictures. Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire and Twin Peaks The Return are all very incoherent and no one else would have got away with releasing that shit.
>Failed TV pilot
>Film an "it's all a dream" twist ending sequence and attach it to the end
>ABSOLUTE KINO MY FELLOW REDDITORS
What other TV pilots could Lynch have filmed an dream twist suicide epilogue for. Would they be masterpieces too?
Don't even pretend that Inland Empire is a watchable flick lmao. Full self parody.
Well, yes, I know what Eraserhead is about and why the presentation is the way it is. But the visuals themselves are very effectively appealing to certain psychosexual fears. H.R. Giger had a somewhat similar style.
> He never watched The Straight Story or Elephant Man
Two of his worst films. Praising Straight Story is true ascended contrarian fedora tipper behaviour.
>To call myself a fan of dark cult surreal director is a huge understand, but have you seen the hallmark original tier movie that would even bore the shit out of your dead grandma, that's definitely worth discussing, *tips fedora*
>an dream twist suicide
What did he mean by this?
reading right now, at the middle of down the rabbit hole 2
is it normal to not get a single word of what Ayane is saying or am I a brainlet
Mulholland Drive ends with Diane waking up from her dream and then killing herself.
>tl;dr,
>he got LYNCHED
Lmaoing at your life. Get fucked pussy
P.T. also known as Silent Hills
Is this the new Yea Forums meme?
Absolutely based. S3 was a disaster.
Friendly reminder that it's been confirmed that Eddie Vedder recorded a song that plays during the Twin Peaks finale. It confirms Agent Cooper never gets his mind back. (Pic is evil Cooper)
Listen youtu.be
Silent Hill 2 is nothing like Lynch, you retarded child. I don't think you've ever seen a David Lynch movie in your life.
Deadly Premonition is great and you should feel ashamed.
Stories Untold
She starts making more sense later on. Most (if not all) of the stuff she's saying is relevant to the plot, it just won't be obvious to you yet.
Also, I hope you're prepared for the depravity coming up later. Shit's gonna get weird.
In all seriousness: the question you are asking can be more correctly translated to:
Are there any games that have elements of Magical Realism?
And the answer to that is actually straight forward: Yes. A couple. It's a very rare school to be applied to games, but there are few.
By far the most clear examples are:
Pathologic (both 1 and 2)
Kentucky Road Zero
Puzzle Agent
There are also few slightly more questionable examples from Japan:
Deadly Premonition, D4, and other SWEARY games, some could really argue even some of the Suda51's work counts though I would dispute that.
A very weak attempt for emulating some aspects of "Lynchian tone" can be seen in Alan's Wake, Life is Strange and even Firewatch teases that kind of shit, but as far as I'm concerned, they all miss the mark entirely.
Really: Check out the two first ones.
Pathologic 2 and Kentucky Road Zero respectively
you sound like you like lynch a lot. Sorry to tell you that his movies aren't that good. They are unique and they often got a deeper sense, but they aren't that good
>LET'S END EVERY EPISODE WITH A SHITTY MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
Bravo Lynch
I miss /tpg/ ;-;
I am jazz
vtmb
Flower Sun and Rain is basically Twin Peaks
> Puzzle Agent
Based. Puzzle Agent's atmosphere was spot on. The sequel was such a disappointment cause they've explained everything.
You're completely right about Mulholland Drive, half right about Inland Empire, and completely wrong about everything else.
It was absolutely based until some fags kept scouring Russian TV guides looking for spoilers to post. I had to stop going since I hate spoilers and want to unironically curbstomp anyone that posts them.
I'm all for it
Yeah except unlike movies in which it's all a dream and then the character wakes up, completely defeating the point of the dream, in Mulholland Drive the whole movie is describing to you what the main character's motivations are and why she killed the woman she loved. The scenes after she wakes up continue for at least a third of the movie after she wakes up for fucks sake.
You know the film is "Fantasy" vs "Reality" of Hollywood right?
I never picked up the sequel. Puzzle Agent was sweet but it was so god damn short that I can't in all honesty consider it a complete game.
>you will never get to stay up late to watch new episodes and lynch movies with /tpg/ again
>you will never get to watch episode 8 and the finale for the first time again
Polanski's own Tenant is basically what you describe. Well, he is not QUITE homosexual, but close enough.
Game wise PA2 is quite great, but just the story feels like trying to wrap shit up without any rhyme or reason tossing in government conspiracies. Gone is the whole tension of "something is wrong".
Also proper Lynch game would also be Thimbleweed park.
Shame those were the only high IQ episodes in the whole season.
Yeah that's the theme, Sherlock, but it would be silly to just trivialize a whole movie's plot to it's theme.
Sadly, I was not in puzzle agent for the gameplay. Puzzle games are actually not at all my style. I only suffered through them for the atmosphere and story. Which is why, after a lot of people warned me that PA2 pretty much ruins what made the first one so attactive to me, I kept away.
What's that, Zach? This guy's a faggot?
BASED
FUCK DOOOOOOGIE, FUCK S3
AND OF COURSE MOST IMPORTATNTLY FUCK LYNCH
None of the plot matters until the end. It's just Reddit-step "muh quirky dream"
>None of the plot matters until the end. It's just Reddit-step "muh quirky dream"
It sometimes just amazes me how utterly devoid of anything resembling a human some of you are.
you sound like a whiny faggot
this thread is so kafkaesque
This, unironically.
no
it's sneedian
I have never used the term brainlet before, but that's exactly what you are. Almost every scene shows something important to the character, such as how the hitman in her fantasy is an incompetent idiot because she fantasizes about how he could never be skilled enough to kill the woman she loves, whereas the one in real life just kills her after she gives him the money. It's all story-telling and character building.
>No meat touching ma'am!
Looks like a Puppet Combo got incredibly lazy game.
formerly chuckian
Go back to r/Lynch then. Empathizing with some fictional slut won't get you laid. Especially a traitorous mentally ill dyke lmao
>character building.
Empathizing with some fictional slut won't get you laid lmao
it really is the closest any game has come, it has a lot in common with lost highway specifically.
Your previous post already made my point, now you are just waisting everyones time. It's boring.
You're no better than anybody else here. Especially not for watching some middlebrow sometimes there's a buggy flick.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
WHAT HAVE YOU DOOOOONE?!?
>favourite Lynch film? for me it's Blue velvet
lol
I am not claiming to be better than most people around here, but I do know for a fact, everyone is better than you.
And I find absolutely NO join in this. It is a tragic sight. A human being this devoid of dignity or self awareness... it's actually painful to see.
this fucking scene
lost highway for me
Inland Empire is his best work
Is he based?
>Highest IQ Lynch:
TPFWW
Inland Empire
Lost Highway
>Midwit Lynch
Dune
Wild At Heart
Twin Peaks: The Return
Eraserhead
Mulholland Drive
>Brainlet Lynch
Twin Peaks s1 + s2
Straight Story
Elephant Man
Blue Velvet
You should consider putting a grenade in your bum, so says Mr Stewart
accurate
>resonate with joy
It's really not out yet? I stopped keeping up, I figured it was out by now
new shoes
For me it's Audrey.
How the fuck does Lynch know exactly how to make a scene feel like a nightmare? I know it's mostly the lighting, the way everyone acts, and sense of place being off, but there's always something unnerving he does on a technical levle I can never really put my finger on
Yeah do what this dude says pathologic 2 is something else (it's a remake so it's okay if you play it before pathologic 1)
life is strange wants to feel like twin peaks but never pulls it off except for a few scenes in the woods
chapter 5 shoots to be fucking Martyrs and I loved it
Very Accurate
Same.
Droning in the background. It's well known amongst audio editors that a low frequency droning sound put in the background makes people very uneasy.
fuck I gotta go play killer is dead
>"it's all a dream" twist ending sequence and attach it to the end
if you're talking about Mulholland Drive, then congratulations, you missed the point hard
I fucking wish there was.
Imagine the levels of mindfuckery from his movies but as a game.
That jump scare got me bad cuz I wasnt expecting it at all. But then I watched it again and it was literally just a dirty bum.
Still tho, good scene, and I fucking loved that movie.
Came to post this. It’s the most blatantly Twin Peaks inspired game I can think of.
Considering the amount of callbacks to the "dream" in the "waking" period and vice versa, no, it's not as simple as "she just woke up lol." It's true that the latter is meant to come off as more "real" and yet some of the most surreal events occur during it, making it intentionally ambiguous. The initial scene in the restaurant is pretty clearly demonstrating that the restaurant is associated with dreams, and yet the protagonist returns to it while "awake," with the man from the initial scene standing right where he said his friend was in his own dream--this sounds like plain, bald-faced reality to you? For Christ's sake does a fucking monster that was something that appeared in a nightmare releasing two cackling midgets to attack her sound like it occurs in "reality"? This isn't like Jacob's Ladder which was indeed just "it was all a dream lol," it's pretty crystal clear that it's meant to be ambiguous. Hell, the whole point is to trick you into thinking it was just a dream and now she's awake.
If anything the first part of the film is an allegory for her passing into death, which obviously makes it further ambiguous by placing events afterward, not just she woke up and everything from this point is "real"
>Mulholland Dr. in the same tier as Eraserhead and Wild at Heart
????
Well they're all pleb bait for first year "movie buffs"
>Lynch at his best tier
Mulholland Dr.
Lost Highway
Inland Empire
Rabbits
>I can still some Lynch in there tier
Eraserhead
Dune
Blue Velvet
Elephant Man
Darkened Room
>Dont fucking watch cuz Lynch was being retarded tier
Twin Peaks
Wild at Heart
Straight Story
fuck you, twin peaks is good and pure david lynch
>Lynch at his best
>Mulholland Drive
TOP KEK
Mulholland Drive is just Lost Highway casualized for retards.
I've never heard anyone say "Mulholland Drive was just Lost Highway". They have complete different motifs and themes.
sh1 was more lynch, the scene at start when he wakes up in the diner is 100% ripped from twin peaks in style
Twin Peaks is barely Lynch in the first place. MINIMAL INVOLVEMENT.
source on that or you're just talking out of your ass?
The Return is the greatest season of TV
