Don't fuckin rush it.
The leveling experience in Classic WoW is the greatest among any MMO ever created. That's why it became the king of MMOs.
Don't ruin it by going full autism. Do the hard quests - group with people.
Group up for the dungeons. It's fuckin glorious

Best part of vanilla is it can be enjoyed in countless ways, some might find it fun to take it slow to 60 while others might find it fun and more enjoyable to rush to max level and farm resources/pre-raid bis and clear MC asap.

Is it even a good idea to just pick a realm on day 1 and go? What if you end up on a realm with a 20:80 faction balance, or one with tons of streamfags or a really low populated one?

Pretty sure you get to reserve a name the week before, should give you enough time to see what servers streamers are on.
