>Premeired as a teaser for Stadia, which is trying to court the normie audience who doesn't normally play console games. >Already a large marketing compaign being it, which means big investors who want big returns. >Larian promises the game will be "much bigger" than the Divinity projects and scoffs at how oldschool D&D, Infinity Engine, etc is outdated. >Larian was only granted the rights to make the game after a formal presentation to the board of Hasbro, not WOTC, on why it's a good investment for the corporation. >Made to be a spinoff/promotion for WOTC's upcoming Descent into Avernus campaign. Has nothing to do with the original BG game story. >Game is set in a city that has already been invaded/destroyed, meaning the game is battle-centric, not roleplay-centric. >Being made from the ground up as a couch co-op game. >"We want everyone to be able to play our game."
BG3 is going to be a AAA abortion that has nothing to do with the gameplay or feel of the original BG games. Don't get your hopes up.
None of these are bad signs, the original BG games were fucking garbage even for their time and are probably the most overrated games ever made. Infinity Engine and everything that tries to emulate it are dogshit.

I'm fearing >Game takes place entierly within the city >Is closer to Divinity 2 than the Original Sin games
Kevin Myers
All the shilling and big names around it make me really nervous. Still, I won't judge before I see some solid amount of gameplay. Then I decide if I pirate and buy.

>"We want everyone to be able to play our game." Are you under the delusion that DnD is complicated or hard to play?
Nathan Young
>Infinity Engine, etc is outdated. So facts?
Colton Phillips
Why is Yea Forums always seething about any- and everything?
>>Being made from the ground up as a couch co-op game. >implying tabletop RPGs as a concept aren't basically couch co-op
Nathaniel Hall
Thanks for sharing that info with us, bro. You saved me a lot of time and mental health.

>scoffs at how oldschool D&D, Infinity Engine, etc is outdated. This is fact. >was only granted the rights to make the game after a formal presentation to the board of Hasbro, not WOTC Fuck yeah. Cuck those WoTC shits. >Has nothing to do with the original BG game story. Uh oh. >meaning the game is battle-centric, not roleplay-centric. Same with the original games then.
Cyberpunk goes to Poland and Baldur's Gate goes to Belgium, what is the USA doing!!!
Carter Nelson
>>"We want everyone to be able to play our game." OH NOOOOOO!!
Lincoln Lewis
>>Game is set in a city that has already been invaded/destroyed, meaning the game is battle-centric, not roleplay-centric. that make it intresting to me. I always wanted a game that was based just in one massive fantasy city. Witcher 3 Novigrad was a good first taste
Caleb Hill
Yeah that's a little concerning. If they make it an upgraded BG Dark Alliance, I'm gonna be pretty pissed off. I'll still play it just to say I did, but making it into a casual action game would be fucking stupid.
Dylan Cook
>BG >not normie game what the fuck am I reading?
Wyatt Sanders
>meaning the game is battle-centric, not roleplay-centric. Yeah like BG1 and BG2. Both have Mass Effect 2 tier roleplay.
Christopher Lee
>implying baldurs gate was some secret niche series BG2 was the skyrim of early 2000s
Jack Rodriguez
reminder that there is no such thing as a good rtwp game

Please god let it be turn-based

Of course it won't be good. Video games have all been shit since 2010
Bentley Garcia
sounds like they're doing the same thing that dragon age origins and dragon age 2 did

DAO combat was good as I remember. With broken Blood Mage

crpgs are boring as fuck and once you have played one, you have LITERALLY played them all, couldn't they made Divinity 3 instead?
Ayden Gonzalez
>normies dont usually play console Stopped reading there. OP a gay.
Gavin Reyes
>Obshitdiots trying this hard Either that or Jewdog (is guilty of many...) crying

Kotor is turn based.

>the gameplay of original original BG games The gameplay of all CRPGs is shit. I just got done replaying through BG, BG2 and NWN and the gameplay is pure fucking trash. The coolest part was being a cleric and buffing the shit out of your skeleton to be a god, but thats more of a flavor thing instead of a gameplay thing. Gameplay in basically all CRPGs is just a means to an end thats never fun because they all jerk off over DnD esc combat and are rtwp like its any good. The only good part of DnD combat is the way you can interact with the DM to do cool shit but you can't do that in a video game. Larian is the only CRPG devs who've made the combat actually fun, they just need writers who aren't shit but you can say all the writers in the industry now are dog shit and no one would argue with you. I just hope you can make custom modules like with NWN in BG3 because they did that GM mode shit in DOS2 but you cant write character dialog out to make it its own module, you got to actually DM it.
Ayden Martin
I'm sad that a lot of the modern rtwp games haven't adopted the the tactics option from DAO where you could have the AI respond to certain conditions with certain spells or behaviour changes Deadfire's the only game that I can remember that actually used it
