erdrick being important or whatever is completely irrelevant because he's only recognizable within the tiny bubble of people who've already played DQ a ton, which is obviously a shitty business move if they want to make Smash players get DQ.
it doesn't matter if vergeben keeps saying "erdrick" because
1. that's not what he's officially referred to as so idk what company is using that internally, especially when it's a title that more than one character has.
2. even if they do refer to 3 by Erdrick, that doesn't matter because 11 is given the title of Erdrick at the end of DQ11.

I doubt it. We got classic Pac-Man, we got Simon with his classic design, Snake with his MGS2 sneak suit. Smash tends towards classic characters and designs. DQ3 Brave is still generally the iconic character of the series. He's even getting a Bring Arts figure in the near future.

SE has repeatedly used Erdrick for merch for years straight, recent games have more references to DQ3 than DQ4-7 had. Like, why was the stage play the Hero of DQ3 fighting Zoma, not the heroes of DQ11, DQ9 or DQ8? The movie is justifiable since it's the more complex story and Erdrick has already inspired 3 spinoff stories, and still, it has DQ5 Hero from 92, not the Luminary.
