Generally speaking offense is just plain better due the QoL, either you win fast or die fast and sine you finish fights faster you level faster, no matter what you just waste less time and it promotes staying on your toes instead of facerolling.

But in the case of these two Shield is strikes me as more appealing. Shields are also the cooler "Weapon".

Let's be real here, it might have the highest amount of Bad Pokémon, but that is partly a product of having the most New Pokémon period since they had to for the "No Returnees until Post-Game" gimmick, honestly i think that if you put GenVI and VII together you get roughly the same ratio of bad/forgettable Pokémon, it is just less noticeable since they don't cuck old Pokémon out of the spotlight, so you can just go use Geodude or whatever.

And really, Gen V LOVED Bugs, that alone is pretty big bonus right there.

If they wanted to have a gen with "only new pokemon" then they could probably do something to try and work with that, but what they did instead was lower the QC and just put out even more than gen 1 had

I can't tell which is worse. They are easily the weakest legendaries, and I am not at all a Genwunner. The other Gen 8 Pokémon look promising, and the last three Gens all had good legendaries, particularly Gen 6. Not sure what happened.
