Either is fine. The EE version is not better than original version outside of no loading between areas. It fixes some bugs and exploits and introduces some new issues (mainly the shit GUI).
I hate it when they announce a game and have nothing to show. Just don't announce it, leave it for next year or something.
Play either OP, both fine.
Enhanced edition looks like shite that someone would have spray painted gold. The outline around the characters is horrible.
EE is Fine just dont play the nu dlc
You kill yourself for not having played them already
>Why do you stand for this?
>Why do you submit to the flesh, when death is bred in your bones?
>Do you realize the power you might hold?
>When the world of flesh is beneath you, even creatures mysterious and magical will fall!
Original BG1 with Widescreen Mod and GUI Mod and NOTHING else
Original BG2 with Widescreen Mod
That's it
Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.
1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).
2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.
3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.
4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.
5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
That's why you deactivate it you retard
I'm current playing through the enhanced editions with EET to connect them all together like one game. EET also installed some basic mods like the popular quest expansions, content restoration, inventory key ring, and so on. Nothing major. I had to do some ini file tweaking fuckery to get it to install (I used Big World Setup), so at very least this method isn't easy.
The EE games are just fine. I've come to learn that most people here who complain about them have never actually played them like this faggot
Who doesn't know that character outlines are an optional feature that is off by default. Most criticisms are either easily ignored or not a big enough issue to affect your enjoyment of the game. Of the 3 new companions added to BG1, one is well written, one is about average, and the other is questionably so, but if you like her personality she's not that bad. Besides, just recruiting certain other companions makes her leave anyways, not to mention you don't have to recruit her in the first place. That portrait is ugly though, I'd replace it.
That being said, people aren't lying about Siege of Dragonspear. It's bad, but you should still play it because it bridges the gap between the games.
They're going to show more at PC Gaming Show at E3

>Illithid invasion
Now this is a plot I can get behind.
I like the TB combat in Original Sin games, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the story and the setting.
Now I'll just have to play through the original two BG games...
Hope so user. If it was only an announcement without gameplay, I'd be annoyed.

hi grandpas
Thanks, but I'll try the original versions first, provided I won't have to install some chink spyware to make it work on a modern machine, like I had to with Planescape: Torment.
play the originals, the UIs in the enhanced edition are dogshit and SOULess
I have some questions.
Will it be turnbased or real time?
Will it have coop?
And can someone tell me why illithids can come out of humans?
Wrong flag.
fuck
>And can someone tell me why illithids can come out of humans
That's where they have always come from, although I don't think it's supposed to happen that quickly.
>Will it be turnbased or real time?
we don't know yet
>Will it have coop?
yes
>And can someone tell me why illithids can come out of humans?
yes, thats how they procreate. The brain gets eaten first by a tadpoles which then takes over the body and transforms it. Lore wise that takes longer then shown, though.
>respondents
oh boy
Just know that the originals lack some Modern convenience features that you you'll miss tremendously which would provide you a lot of ease-of-use if you had. One such feature is the quick loot. In the original, if you want to pick up items after a battle, you have to mouse over every individual dead body or piece of loot, click it, and look at that inventory, picking and choosing what you take. EE gives you the option to turn on quick loot. This lets you display all the loot in a general area around you in a single bar, from which you can scroll and take what you want. I use it literally every single encounter and it saves me A LOT of time and tedium.
Maybe such a mod exists in the originals, but I have no idea. If it does, I recommend it.
can they eat my dick asking for a friend
Thanks.
>lack some Modern convenience features
I'm 30, I'll manage. I played NWN, PS:T and Fallout. I just barely missed the BG games.
They can, but they don't. They just suck it.
I wonder if more aberrations and Far Realm denizens will make the appearance in the game? Like aboleths or uvuudaums?
Also, did they retcon aboleths originating in the previous universe and surviving its end in the later editions? That part of their story was so cool in 3.5.
So it means the huge thing in the background was from a dragon, I suppose.
Original with mods, honestly.
The Lord of Murder shall perish
I stand corrected. The outline is on by default in Siege of Dragonspear though and since the UI is all over the place I assumed it was not something you could toggle. Still, I gave it up because it's written by a bunch of monkeys flailing randomly on typewriters.
can you disable dlc?
Doesn't look like a dragon to me.
The DLC is an expansion. If you don't want to play it, just don't import your character.
Okay dude. Is there an expansion that I should play?

wtf is the games not on sale on steam?
>"The mind flayers have rediscovered the secret of nautiloids," Larian founder Swen Vincke tells PC Gamer. "Those are big problems! If you know D&D lore, especially Volo's Guide, you'll know they used to rule the Astral Plane, but they lost it all and had to flee to the Underdark or they'd be exterminated by the githyanki. They want to restore their empire, so we see the mind flayers invading a city, with a nautaloid, so you can imagine what might happen. But it's not what you'll expect!"
>so you can imagine what might happen. But it's not what you'll expect!
They think it be like it is but it do.
I feel BG1 is better played as originally intended, rather than with all the BG2 stuff that completely fucks with the balance.
I'm a nostalgic boomerfag, so that's probably a minority opinion though.
nope, they aren't going to show anything
they'll just "talk"
they won't even talk about combat system, as Swen already said that info is for "much later"
Dreadnought's baby.
I hope they take their time. I want a good game. It's fucking BG.
Enhanced Edition for BG3 hasn't even come out yet
>trailer is someone turning into a mindflayer
UNDER-FUCKING-REPRESENTED.
Beamdog probably still has the licence over the 'remasters' so they set the cost. I'm glad that Larian took BG3 though, fuck Beamdog.
>there's a dyke vampire companion in BG2EE
So, like, is she overpowered as fuck like the rest of those level-draining cunts in the game or did they actually somehow balance her against the rest of the cast?
What's the astral plane like user? Tell me.
Pirate the original version and play that with mods. The enhanced edition has issues with mod compatibility and also has tranny/socjus pandering.
I SERVE THE FLAMING FIST
lol
It's Hell out there.
Sven says it like quantum phyiscs world.
play the original with easytutu, bg2 with ease of use, and both with the widescreen mod. also console in a bag of holding at the start of the game, unless you're a pervert who wants to spend fifteen hours of game time playing Inventory Manager 2â„¢
you aren't getting one bucko
W-will we see jon?
I want an elven waifu. I don't care about anything else.
They will totally go with that "elves are trannies" take from MToF for BG3, won't they?
>spoiler
is that was pnp is like nowadays
>inter-planar adventure featuring aberration enemies as the main antagonists
That's the perfect scenario for a D&D adventure module right there. How is that Larian instantly understand something that the player want, while none of the previous Forgotten Realm licensees had the brain power to muster anything beyond a generic fantasy plot on the Sword Coast?
Larian will be the next CDPR
nevuh wunted Baldehs Geht, nevuh will
I'd be happy with that, out of all the CRPG devs at the moment I trust them the most.
lol no, the next BioWare. It's what they were trying to do, go full retard and mass market appeal before they went bankrupt and had to beg for money on Kickstarter for DivOS1. They're just repeating the process.
bald dicks gate is okay.
but there are better out there
Name 10
I guess it's an astral warship, but it's suprising that they can mount such an invasion without Vla'Kith throwing a tantrum and murdering them.
Considering all waifus were elves in BG2, there will probably be at least one
Who is the most powerful in Forgotten Realms? Not really tuned up that much with regards to lore, just from what I know from previous D&D games.

There's a cut version somewhere? Why would it exist?
>tfw your elven waifu turns into a guy after having sex with you.
Thank you WotC. We didn't need this to be canon.
What would even be cut?
80% of it? This trailer is gruesome as fuck. Cut trailer doesn't have the teeth vomiting and him growing tentacles for instance.
>negative armor values means the armor is better
>Cut trailer
I mean, where is such a thing even uploaded? For whom would it be cut? Think of the kids, etc?
Can I fuck the elf again for another gender swap?
Puritans and Chinese I'd wager.
First time playing BG I bought leather armor for my fighter since it had higher armor. I guessed it was because how people were complaining about iron was shit in the region and plate armor quality was garbage
No true BG/IWD fan would argue that BG3 should be turn-based. Those people are DOS2 fags in disguise.
The few remaining Netherese liches like Laroch tend to be the most powerfull creatures on Toril. Slakrethel the kraken and Klauth the red dragon are also quite powerfull. Then you have all the archmages and chosen of gods like Szass Tamm, Elminster and Gromph and Quentel Baenre but as far as I know they all lost quite some power during the spellplague. Silverhand for example is only a level 18 mage during 5e. Acererak also visited the realms recently, but fucked off after a while.
It's once per day. You are stuck with a dude in the meantime. No, really it's all canon. It's a blessing apparently.
janee
How does that affect pregnancy?
RTWP is trash and has always been. TB is literally, objectively, factually superior.
The fuck? I haven't kept up with D&D in general since 3.5, is this true?
BG2 is my fav RPG of all time and yes, I would say that it needs to be TB.
youtu.be
BG2 wasn't even supposed to have real time combat, it was a fucking accident because BioWare was making an RTS that got cancelled and they didn't have time to implement a turn based system so they just adapted the real time from the RTS and slapped a pause on it.
A literal abortion of a combat system.
>tfw your elven waifu turns into a guy after having sex with you.
Huh, who? I don't remember that.
Enhanced Edition has content in it that was not in the original, including dialogue not written by the original writers, as well as entirely new characters written by new, shitty writers.
For the pure experience, play the original versions. If you're specifically playing through them to prepare for "Baldur's Gate 3" then you might just enjoy the shitty writing and forced identity politics.
play enhanced
avoid the new npcs or outright kill them
don't bother with siege of dragonspear
>didn't have time to implement a turn based system
Unlikely. Real-time combat was hot shit at the time, and TB D&D was associated with the Gold Box series that just got canned for low sales.
Mordekainen has a passage that states that in very few cases an elf is born with a form of blessing from Corellon Larethian that allows them to switch gender once per long rest. Genderswapping elves has been a thing since at least 2e, as part of the cult of Ellistrahe.
Original without mods is fine too.
Just don't play with EE for your first time, since it will affect the story part of your experience by inserting characters written with a very different intensity and quality to the other characters.
oh, or play EE with a mod that removes the new characters, that should be fine too.
Then there's just the clashing gameplay issue of bg1 where you have access to kit classes.
Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. D&D 5E. It's canon. It's a retcon written by the flaming faggot in charge of D&D lore, who needed some virtue points.
Don't ask so many questions. WotC is busy virtue signalling. Oh, and drow can do that too, now.
>close your eyes too!
Changedance in actually noncanon. It was part of Greenwood's magical realm that fans latched onto. It's never mentioned in any official book.
They are bringing back obscure Spelljammer stuff? No way, user. This is too good to be true.
>"RTWP has always been trash"
>"It needs to be turn-based"
>BG is one of the best received RPG series out there, spawning many (attempted) influential successors over more than two decades
It's best received despite its combat system, not because of it, dumdum.
It's pretty empty, but has some weird things floating around
>Enhanced Edition
Unfortunately beamdog trash is canon, because this bitch appears in comics.
How much does charisma affect in 5e? Also is the only class that uses it sorcerer?
What about space? How ships are even flying there?
This is not the bitch in question. She just looks similar to her.
>Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. D&D 5E. It's canon. It's a retcon written by the flaming faggot in charge of D&D lore, who needed some virtue points.
Oh I don't really delve into the lore that much outside of games. I thought you meant in a BG romance, I was going to ask if it was from the shitty expansions Beamdog did, I haven't played them.
Yeah, but Minsk mentions Neera in comics, so she is a canon companion of Abdel now
As a kid I was never able to get into Baldurs gate because it felt like a cluster fuck.
happy bad
sad good
>cringe
yikes
Normal people should play tutu but I recommend you the EEs.
Swen is a fan of Spelljammer, so he is BASED as fuck
Magic, what else?
Abdel is an even worse character than any of the beamdog guys, so who cares.
Get all the BGs and install the triology mod.
Least he's a true fan.
He loves spelljammer shit tho
At least he knows what Spelljammer is. Beamdog kept fucking up the FR lore constantly.
That video made me actually more confident because it showed how much of a D&D and Baldurs Gate fan Sven is. And if he brings more obscure older stuff from Faerun and other planes back all the better.
And as a RTwP fag I would be fine with turn based if every combat is meaningful and they don't throw trash mobs at you (but I still want a RTwP system more).
what does the french have to do with anything?
That was my main problem with BG. You either fight trash mobs or bosses, not much between. Also the times where you fight a balanced adventurer group like yours is very low. I hope turnbased fixes this. Even if it's not turnbased I hope they still fix this
What is Second Sundering and how it will affect the story?
Isn't turning into a Mindflayer a somewhat slower process than shown in the trailer?
Ok so for Baldurs Gate, originals +mods. What about Icewind Dale and Planescape torment? Originals or EE?
all Originals
EE for Planescape
It's a giant in-universe retcon that was supposed to revert back all the changes made to Faerun in 4e back to how shit was in 2e/3e, while adding completely new shit on top of that. The side-effect is now 5e lore is a complete mess and WotC has a rather stron "pick your own version of events" attitiude. Nobody can tell which version of Elven pantheon is canon now in Faerun, for instance, because both SCAG and MToF contradict each other.
gothca
I think taking over the brain is slow but not sure about the body transformation
They said that it's accelerated in a video.
the guy didn't exactly look like his brain got taken over at all previous to the transformation.
Mind flayers skull fuck your brain and impregnate your brain with a tadpole, which you wont remember if they wiped your memory.
Are all illithids mages?
As far as I remember, yes, and they use pets or slaves for fighting
But.. Why? One of them is easily missed, and the other one you can just let get murdered there and then. If there's more than those two (in 1 anyway) then i missed them.
Protip. Not a single game past, present or future has or will ever beat Hordes of the Underdark when it comes to top notch D&D experience.
going for Illithids is the next big step
We had mad warlords, gods and now we have interdimensional aborations who controlled the multiverser at one point that even gods fear
bonus points: its not by modern Bioware. I have some issues with Larian wacky reddit humor but Im so glad right now its not Bioware, I cant care right now
It's a damn shame best elf waifu is in Pathfinder
oh boy I cant wait
I wonder if Mindfucker still enjoy being raped by summoned lvl1 Mr Skeletals
You have to fuck around with some cloak which means she can go out in the sunlight with reduced stats
no, they are natural born psykers
they can learn/use magic like any other race, though
Can't wait for all the mind control shenanigans.
>expect the cutie in the inn to be the vampire
>it turns out to be a nigger
Why
Best elven waifu is in Deadfire, ironically. It's just Obsidian is braindead and they don't realize that.
Just play enhanced and ignore all the extra content. You can distinquish it easily by aggresive doses of reddit humor.
This reminded me there was a psychic class mod for BG. Shame I never got to play it
>if you close your eyes, you won't see the problem
*ahem*
Technically, Beamdog is no longer a problem - they have fuck all to say about BG at this point - they've lost their licence, thanks to some spectacular fuckery with Siege of Dragonspear, I guess hiring a raging SJW that's more concerned about politics than writing a good story to write a game that was supposed to show that you can deliver a good product kinda backfired. It seems that Beamdog was too SJW even for woke as fuck current WotC.
the combat has charm it is fun to play the game the story is good but not fantastic
cringe
name a better combat system
>woke as fuck current WotC.
I hope this won't affect BG3. Larian is known for big-breasted women.
Because you interact with them regardless if you want to or not, and if you haven't played baldurs gate before you may not know which the new character is at first.
Asking players to shut their eyes and just treat the interactions with those characters as a flashing screen saying [IGNORE THIS, THIS IS NOT CANON] is worse than modding them out or just playing the version that doesn't have them in the first place.
That's why.
You are so naive.
You'll learn.
Will Minsk take a jab at the GamerGate controversy again? I also hope Mizhena returns.
>and if you haven't played baldurs gate before you may not know which the new character is at first.
You'll know. You have to be completely braindead not to notice. The entire game pretty much screams: THIS IS A NEW COMPANION, SEE HOW COOL HE/SHE IS? LOOK, YOU TOTALLY WANT YOU TO TAKE THEM WITH YOU. Beamdog are not to particularly subtle about their additions.
BG1 is full of the 1998 equivalent of Reddit humor, though.
Why do people act like EE is the only way to play BG1 with 2's improvements?
pocketplane.net
That's honestly just autistic if you ask me. Just like in real life, you'll meet people you really, really don't like and will ignore. Unlike real life you can just have them murdered too if that's your deal.
I can only imagine it only sold double-digit numbers, if that many. I mean $20 for a mod to a 20 year old game? That was a ridiculous idea from the start made all the more pitiful when you look and realizing BG2 had better FREE MODS 15 years ago compared to the paid DLC siege of dragonspar.
>a total conversion mod that turned the game into a totally strategy & combat-oriented campaign
>a large mod to redeem Yoshimo, starring Lulu from FFX as his mortal enemy and also his waifu, and you fought a million zillion ninjas to break the geas Irenicus made over him
>a large mod about that motherfucker Cyric throwing his dice into Bhaal's game to subvert it, and usurp Bhaal's energies for himself
>other mods i don't even fucking remember anymore
TROLL'D
because its by far the easiest and most convenient way to play the game
I prefer BG:Trilogy myself.
But do you really expect your run-on-a-mill fan of 5E and Critical Role to be smart/or determined enough to bother with complex BG mods like this one?
BG:EE does that for them.
>50 years old dude and a reddit humor
cringe as fuck indeed
>people willingly praise a 60 hour game despite its combat even though a majority of that time is gonna be in combat.
okay retard.
>cell phone mode
Can she appear in BG3?
Too sexist.
Due to the Blessing of Corellon, she is now an androgynous guy using they/them pronouns. If you don't like it you are a bigot.
What's the difference between TUTU and the other one where you can combine 1+2 together?
>the entire reason why the dialogue zoomed in so close was because her tits physics ate up all the system resources and they couldn't render anything else
Tutu and trilogy? *
>In 1437 DR, Baldur's Gate suffered a major undead crisis. Although this brought all the dead back to life, it did not bring the Elfsong Ghost back to life, but instead brought its song back, as the ghost had been brought peace. The song continued to play regularly under the administration of the aged bartender.
She is dead.
All in all, Baldur's Gate Trilogy offers seamless experience. You start the game in BG1, end in BG2:ToB.
TuTu simply converts BG1 into BG2 engine, but does not combine the two games together like BGT does. Apparently, thanks to that TuTu is more stable and less easy to fuck up if you install additional mods on top of it.
>trilogy
>he actually wants to play siege of dragonspear
you do know they made the trannies unkillable right?
The fuck you are on about?
BG Trilogy and EE Trilogy are two seperate things. BGT uses vanilla games as a basis.
Is there a mod in the Enhanced Edition that removes the additional gay ass self-inserts?
What does SoD have to do with it?
based /pol/ turd talking about thigs he klnows nothing about
New players might be braindead, or just not focus enough to think about it too much, they might assume that character is more important because her big intro and feel compelled to keep her around even.
Your analogy is non sensical and is just a poor excuse to use your favorite insult, autistic.
We're talking about playing a game of in ca 4 different ways where they have their own pros and cons. The inclusion of video game characters in some of these versions is not equivalent to people in real life that you may not like.
I want to kill Drizzt again. Is he even alive by the time of BG3?
Point is, you're not forced to bring them along, hell, you can just avoid even firing off the event for them to begin with.
Modding them away is just a roundabout placebo for the exact same shit you can basically do ingame. Might as well start devolving the graphical resolution limit because it's too big compared to the original.
He and his whole party is
Yes. He's a drow. Apparently, his teammates are also alive.
What really shocked me was the fact the Quile Veladorn is apparently alive - and the fact that that's dead as shit was a big thing in 4e. I guess WotC is bringing everybody back to life in 5e willy-nilly and consequences be damned.
Yes. He got killed about a dozen times in between, but he was recently helping to defeat a demonic army rampaging in the Underdark and through some deus ex machina nonsense defeated Demorgorgon.
You can't. You HAVE to bump into Neera and Rasaad. They are positioned in such a way that it is impossible to avoid them - like right next to an inn that you HAVE to enter in order to progess. And then they trap you in a dialogue whether you like you or not.
Dorn is even worse - the traps you in a cutscene when transitioning to a new map. You can't avoid it.
he's kinda right, they're annoying as fuck since original npcs just king stand there and hang around wile beamdog's npcs go out of their way to advertise themselves to you. neera is especially infuriating with her unsippable cutscenes in both BG1 and 2, they were so fuckjing proud of her...
that being said i liked dorn's quest and bealoth is a lot of fun, not everything about them is terrible
Game being focused on Illithid probably means we will also have tons of Gith, right? Hated those faggots in bg2
>Point is,
you're forced to interact with them.
> you can just avoid even firing off the event for them to begin with.
Ah yes, something the first time player would for sure know about.
>Modding them away is just a roundabout placebo for the exact same shit you can basically do ingame.
???
This makes no sense. Stop trying to trick people into hanging out with Coldsteel and Saerilith tier characters.
It doesn't have the same result as killing them in game, through doing that you've already interacted with them.
It is a very straight forward way to play EE and not have the fanfic characters in the game, play the game with the mod that removes that, if you for some reason find EE easier than just playing the older versions.
>Might as well start devolving the graphical resolution limit because it's too big compared to the original.
If you want that there's the original baldurs gate versions unmodded, that's an option to.
Just don't play EE straight and you're good.
The important bit is to not have the fanfic character in the game.
>add containers to the game
>only way to get a gem bag is on neera
Yep, that's THAC0. You take your THAC0, subtract the target's AC and that's the number you need on a d20 to hit.
So if I have a 15 THAC0 and you have a -1 AC, I need a 16 to hit. The math is the same if you just invert the numbers.
In 3.5 terms, a 15 THAC0 is a +5 to hit, and a -1 AC is a 21 AC. You still need a 16 to hit, it's just done in a way that isn't ass backwards.
>that being said i liked dorn's quest and bealoth is a lot of fun, not everything about them is terrible
I'm not against people exploring that stuff after their first playthrough, but I think the first playthrough should be just with the original characters, just like you shouldn't have a mod that adds new characters to your first playthrough.
Don't even get me started. As Minsc would say:
Po oczach go Boo. Po oczach.
Seriously? You're triggered by MERELY talking for less than a minute with them because they're not OG characters? This is some extreme levels of nostalgia faggotry. You'd probably be furious if Edwin was new too.
>This is some extreme levels of nostalgia faggotry.
Not as extreme as your goalpost movements
>they won't even talk about combat system
We know from an interview with Gamespot that it's Fifth Edition rules.
I'm not gonna keep you from being triggered by literally few words, nor force you to save the girl, but you're seriously being extremistic about it.
>talking for less than a minute with them
Neera forces you into a combat with three heavily armed fighters and a mage that you have to participate in, even if you tell her to fuck off. Also, Dorn has entire loooooong cutscene with him showing off how badass he is. Rasaad is better about this but his intro dialogue goes forever.
There is no conflicting info. Only nostalgia retards prefer the originals.
There are engine bugs and limitations in the originals that cannot be fixed with mods. The EE fixes all of them.
I don't think I'll be able to really enjoy bg3.
I'd be okay with 5th edition or even 4th edition rules in a video I think even though they may not be ideal.
I kind don't like faerûn as much since 4e though, got a bit too comic booky.
>Dialogue? In a hardline RPG?
>NO THANK YOU WHERE DA FIGHTIN AT??
>We know from an interview with Gamespot that it's Fifth Edition rules.
so? we don't know anything. Swen already said they "adapted it" whatever the fuck that means. They made changes, so it's not 5E. We don't know if it's turn-based, real time, real time with pause. isometric, 3rd person... we know fuck all.
>why won't you like my waifu I created for the new version :(
>in the directors release of the movie we decided to add a scene where an unimportant character shows up, literally shits on the screen, then is never seen again
>some people have had a problem with this, but I think they should get over it, it's only there for a minute

You don't get what I'm saying right?
>EE Companions are not such a big deal, you can easily avoid them.
>Oh, stop being triggered by their short introductory dialogue, you nostalgia fag
>It's an RPG, what's wrong with them telling you their entire life stories and forcing you into combat?
Look, motherfucker, I just don't want to deal with them. You are the one moving the goalposts.
Like what?
Why even bother with rolls when you can roll forever until you get the best?
>get book of strength
>getting 18/100 made meaningless
>only 87
not at all
>The EE fixes all of them.
Such as? Because the only real glitch that the game had was the "this character is busy" bug, but patches fixed that in the original edition
>get book of strength after completing 95% of the game
Which is 0% of baldur's gate 2
How do I get dungeon be gone to work with the enhanced mod? I installed it but all I get is invalid options when I speak to the teleporter person.
aw man I didn't know 3 got announced
very naicu
Don't act like something only being there for a brief moment invalidates it's awfulness
Quick question:
What's the correct install order for following BG1:EE mods:
>BGNPCProject,
>BG1 Unfinished Business
>SCS
>Viconia Revamped (adds sunlight sensitivity for better immersion)
>Tweaks Anthology
>BG1 Questpack
>Lvl 1 NPC (I want Dynaheir as a sorcerer - if there is one more efficient mod, lemme know)
>BG:EE Classic Movies
>Disable EE NPCs
inb4 - no I am not using SoD.
Thanks in advance.
5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
always start with scs
HAHA LOOK MOM I POSTED IT AGAIN
>OG still has more key customization than EE
you already lost the license, beamcuck
>not playing on a trinitron crt monitor
Pretty gay, honestly
The biggest Beamdog crime is this:
Siege of Dragonspear breaks the mod compatibility on all platforms (GOG, Steam) but their own.
but doesn't it feel nice to know that beneath that 19 strength there's a layer of muscle of 18/00 strength?
I can only imagine the faces of their employees as Larian cucked them out of it. It gives me warm feelings even though I'm not looking forward to 3 at all.
>implying BG1's castle wall exterior UI isn't he best in every single IE game
The UI improvments and zoom feature are too good.
The TuTu mod or something sounding like it is awesome. You can play BG1 on BG2 engine and play it straight like a grand adventure. I might be misremembering the name of the mod though.
They didn't even notice/realized that. They are too busy sucking each others cocks and talking about their sex reassignment surgeries on discord.
What's the difference between tutu and bgt?
Baldur's Gate Trilogy.
It is great - just a bitch to configure properly. Because it takes forever to install all the mods you need.
Also IWD2 needs to be fixed and updated, arguably the game that needed TLC the most (and was the Infinity Engine's last game) will never get it because the source code is lost and Beamdog won't spend a penny on reverse engineering.
you don't understand
those games needed to be fixed
Can you give me an example of modified text in BG1?
tutu includes all of the fixes patches and little mods and you can choose one by one if you want them
I am the only one excited that Ascension 2.0 has been released? It's actually much less prone to fuckery with other mods now.
>There's a lot of jokes at women's expense. Or if not a lot, there's a couple
The absolute state of that studio
i sometimes forget that a lot of devs are essentially glorified modders in terms of mentality
ive just finished playthrough with classic ascensions on EE and havent encountered any problems.
David Gaider was just a modder for BG before being hired by Bioware, so you're not far off.
Nah, modders actually care about the game they are modding.
Amber Scott was a social activist-turned-writer for Paizo-turned- SoD narrative designer
Oh hi Myrkul
All characters in BG1 weren't developed that much. What he is even talking about? Besides, did he just assume, that nagging wives (or husbands, whatever) don't exist?
colorful nothing
very few floating islands and dead gods drifting that may or may not be converted into githyanki cities
Are you ready to fight other illithid themed creatures as well?
That's a she.
A very politically charged she.
Remember, it you don't have nothing to complain about, quickly invent a problem.
What is a phlogiston tho?
My body is ready.
played Enhanced, it's easier to jump into
read the Baldur's Gate 1 manual to understand the combat system and character classes.
make some character that you think is a pretty cool guy
after you leave the starting area, follow the advice you were given and go to that tavern
then when you've met the people there head south for the mines, which you should have been told about by a pair of people you meet.
the mines are the tutorial dungeon and you can learn how not to die.
quick save often and don't be afraid to explore areas.
Before you leave Friendly Arms Inn, go east into Peldvale and quickly secure Viconia, BG ultimate waifu. She's actually slightly above your level.
I've actually missed her first time I played BG1.
I was 12 at the time.
FYI, you have tweaks mod installed which enables you to do that. You can't do that in vanilla game, have to wait till you get a quest to go there
And Viconia portrait was literally a copy-paste photo of some porn actress. I guess those incels from Bioware watched a lot of porn in the 90s.
>quickly secure Viconia, BG ultimate waifu
I can't, because my char is neutral good.
it kind of bothered me that she looked like an east european slut and not "elf like"
>an east european slut
Hush, user. Zdeňka Podkapová is super hot.
Um, no? Unless it's BG:EE thing. I could recruit her in unmodded BG:EE right from the get-go.
Unless it's a vanilla BG1 thing - I literally played it ages ago.
got you
I only wanted her name all along
Enough with the excuses. Dick some good into her, goddamnit.
But that's impossible, because she is evil
She is, but she's not very "elf-like". Or my standards are fucked.
I thought every cool boy were saving themselves for Imoen in BG2
EE, obviously. Just ignore the new content if you have autism about it.
She just wants to be loved.
Should I draw you a picture how you should dick her into goodness? Do your neutral good duty.
Nope, I was there for Viconia. Her portrait was awful, but her Polish voice was pure sex. Unlike Imoen's.
Too bad Viconia's Polish actress died of cancer some time ago. Playing through Polish version of BG2 in general is a sad experience, when you realize how many of those actors are already dead.
You wait until September and buy the Switch version to play it on the go along with Neverwinter Nights, Planescape, and Icewind Dale.
They haven't sold out to EA yet.
>They will totally go with that "elves are trannies" take
How did you read "elves can be a mix of both genders just like your japanese futanari hentais" and immediately think "tranny"?
>those beamdog cucks
No, thanks
>OLD GOOD NEW BAD
Someone sounds triggered
This doesn't sound any better.
Then you don't belong here, election tourist.
Where can I get that GUI mod for BG1?
All mods I found were for EE
We were until we discovered she's your half-sister and denied the childhood friend route.
you know the meme doesn't work when it's a factually true statement
Well, that was an improvement. Originally, she was supposed to die in Chateau Irenicus, to give player additional motivation to go after Irenicus. Bioware changed that once they realized how popular she was.
Why do you think Nalia is a spitting image of Imoen both appearence and class-wise?
>you know the meme doesn't work when it's a factually true statement
Your fine no matter which way you go since its not the dullest RPG of all time. Each attempt Obsidian makes to create their own universe rather than simply deconstruct a setting made by others, has been more disastrous than the last. Aside from the outdated gameplay and lifeless cities, Pillars of Eternity's only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of combat mechanics, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Sawyer vetoed the idea of making anything at all innovative or original; he made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable nostalgia pandering to ageing Baldur's Gate fans. Pillars of Eternity might be anti-casual(or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Divinity series in its refusal of spontaneity, fun and excitement.
>a-at least the writing was good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the narrative was terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time I engaged in dialogue with an NPC the game presented me with a Wiki-page style infodump instead of anything resembling actual human conversation.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time this was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Sawyer's mind is so governed by obsession with pointless minutiae of the lore that he has no other style of writing.
Later I read a lavish, loving review of Pillars of Eternity by the same David Gaider. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kiddies are playing Obsidian games at 17 or 18, then when they get older they will go on to enjoy Dragon Age II." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Pillars of Eternity" you are, in fact, trained to shill for Bioware.
BASED
Billy!
posting this in an unrelated thread makes you the butthurt nigga
I'm a bit buttmad about this.
The narrative was never what made me remember BG and (especially) BG2 fondly.
If anything I think most old players tend to vastly overstate its quality.
>not playing with the actually half-decent romance mod that lets you threesome with Aerie
The god-incest just makes it better
IIRC spelljammer is based on ptolemaic concepts of crystal spheres and shit and the spelljammer ships sail the stuff the spheres float in via magic
Lmao
There exists a perfectly servicable PC version, you know.
Those games run on a fucking toaster.
Why are people waiting on a console release with those?
to play on the big screen while sitting on your couch
19' laptop will do that for ya.
Because PC games are a dead medium for fags and retards now.
Too bad BG 3 is a PC exclusive then.
no idea
Tell me more
play original with mods
And?lol You just proved my point
Original with mods is the only correct answer if you have them. EE adds nothing of value and actively makes many things worse. And it doesn't fucking work with ascension and shit right? Which are mandatory.
controller support
I once made a palading with 18 in all scores except int. Boy that was fun.
I mean, imagine an 18 across the board with 3 int character. It was pretty fun untill the mind flayers.
It actually does work with Ascension. The only problem is installing mods on top of SoD if you bought your game on GOG or Steam. SoD directory is fucked and WeiDu mods don't install properly. But seriously, who uses SoD anyway?
Who will go /pro-illithid/ here
No. They don't have waifus.
Seriously, the boobs wither and die during ceremorphosis. Why bother?
FUCK THE SELDARINE AND FUCK TREE NIGGERS
I volounteer to take one for the team and fuck the tree niggers.
just google imoen romance mod. it used to be a cringeworthy mess of godawful fanfic but someone salvaged the whole thing a few years back and turned it into a pretty good deal. also gives her some actual dialogue and reactions to things, and you can just be friends/siblings if you're some kinda weirdo.
>a few years back
fuck it's probably a lot more but i don't want to think about how fast time is going
All the portraits in bg2 were done by redrawing actors and models.
Good thing too, this is what they were going at first.
me likey hairy elf bussy
>Beat BG2 just now
>Start Throne of Bhall
>Can recruit Sarevok
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Who are you going to kick out of party for him?
Vaconia of course, minorities deserve the rope.
Can't even spell her name right, but I mean you taking aerie or what? Clerics are a relatively important class lad
faggot
why did you save her in the first place then
What do you do in Baldur's gate? Is it walking around and fighting dudes?
Charmane and Serevok spitroast Imoen while Viconia schlicks on the sidelines...
Good ending.
no you go around sucking big ogre cocks
All elves have shaved pussy tho
wtf no they don't,they are like nature and shit and hairy pussy is nature
Wwoag..
Or just use the portaits drawn by the Dungeon Meshi managaka.
She's gonna fuck Cespenar out of spite. Just you wait.
Neither because both BG and BG2 are massively overrated mediocre games. BG1 is especially bad.
I like my squids boiled and cooked. Also i've red the Drizzt and the Icewind Dale books so i really dislike them.
P.S. Drow priestess orgies are the best.
More or less. And fucking cute drow tsuntsun waifus. It's a fun game. You should try it.
Best evil laugh ever
I will miss Keldorn, Haer'dalis and Aerie...
>Drow priestess orgies are the best.
Eilistraee drow priestess orgies are cosmic. And there is a big chance that after the orgy, drow priestess will cuddle next to you and go to sleep instead of trying to sacrifice you to her goddess.
Should I try BG1 or the new Pathfinder EE. Torrenting either way.
Why didn't they bring back Xan in BG2?
This is one of the reasons why I never purchased the EE and I never will. Holy fuck why would I even THINK about buying this shit for graphic's overhaul when the game itself is changed from it's original intent and story design in favor of a PC interpretation.
Aerie looks so stupid. She is like the ultimate low-hanging fruit.
Because they decided to bring over the worst companions and kill off all the others.
Are we talking vanilla BG1 or BG:EE?
Because vanilla BG 1 didn't age well at all and is incompatible with all mods. BG:EE needs a few mods - like BGNPCProject and Disable EE Companions to be really fun.
But overall I prefer BG to PFKM. It's a more coherent game. Kingmaker is great, but it's a bit too much in terms of mechanics.
DOS1 has 4 companions, DOS2 6. Wonder how will they handle writing something like 20 companions for a BG game
>a big chance
Unless you are unlucky.
Both tutu and ease of use are outdated.
Then they will ravish you sexually. It's a horryfing fate, I get that, but it's still a better deal than having your heart ripped out. You just have to take it like a man.
youtube.com
If incels of WotC are so protective of BG franchise, why in hell they allowed beamdog to make that atrocious interquel?
Go away. She was my first videogame waifu when I was a kid. I have a soft spot for her.
Aside from quick buck from an easy nostalgiabait?
Because they sweettalked them into it. They have a bunch of old Bioware alumni in their company. Trailer looked vaguely promising. And I can guarantee that Beamdog promised "more diversity" and WotC loves that shit.
Then Amber Scott started "interacting" with fans. And everyone realized how fucked they were.
do not ever play remasters, they are always inferior to the original
There's also a good chance that the hot elf priestess you went to bed with is a dude in the morning
Just ignore the EE content and you're set.
They are dancing naked, right? That's kinda sexist.
Curse you Crawford for shoving that fetish into the books.
>ignore the EE content
Good luck with that. Tell us how this worked out for ya.
Explain
>Ah yes, I heard you require 20,000 gold coin for an enterprise.
>I just happened to have a job paying 20,000 gold coins !
>Don't recruit Dorn, Rasaad, or Neera
Done. You'll never, ever run into EE content outside of possibly running into Adoy once.
>hot and pleasant drow ladies who want to spread love and joy and live in peace with surface races, so they fuck surfacers indiscriminately, dance naked under the sunlight and perform ritualistic orgies
You know what? I can live with them being mite sexist.
This. Blind haters need to fuck off if they don't know what they're talking about. Don't support Beamdog by buying their game, but don't detract others from pirating it for your own stupid ideas whose source is mostly ignorance.
Elves are canonically traps in 5e. I shit you not.
Something something the religion was dying so the all-female priesthood started accepting male priests, on the condition that they magic themselves into women for certain rituals.
I thought elves don't have body or facial hair ?
>hot and pleasant drow ladies who want to spread love and joy and live in peace with surface races, so they fuck surfacers indiscriminately, dance naked under the sunlight and perform ritualistic orgies
Who came up with that stuff? Sounds like a virgin wet dream.
That's not how it went. Eilistraee clergy used to be female only - period. Males were warriors, mages and hunters, females are priests. Greenwood once wrote a non-canonical lore tidbit that if a male drow wants to become a priest, he can magic himself into female as a loophole. Eilistraee won't mind.
It's not revelant to 5e anyway, because in current times Eilistraee allows for both male and female clerics.
This one is Ed Greenwood. Pranking is fine for some obscure Drow cult, rather than some intrinsic ability all elves have; Greenwood only does it beccause he's a big pervert.
Papa Greenwood. He was a fun dude and Eilistraee is his cherished waifu.
He once turned Elminster into a chick because he wanted to write a lesbian sex scene between him and Mystra.
>Who came up with that stuff?
probably a virgin
>Papa Greenwood
What a based virgin. It's too bad forgotten realms are not allowed to have fun anymore.
At least Greenwood admits that he's a pervert. Crawford thinks he's woke and progressive.
I game over'd because of the Neera encounter event which surprised me with a somewhat difficult fight.
I don't know about the rest, but I think I can ignore them just as well.
>However, before the Second Sundering, males had to dance the so-called Changedance at least once in order to become priests, by spending time shapechanged into females (including in everyday life, not only in rituals) to gain insight into the other gender. Generally, this wasn't perceived negatively, as many priests felt the need to spend more and more time as females to feel and cleave more fully to the nature of the Dark Maiden.
What part of that is a loophole?
lets be honest whole Forgotten Realms
are shitshow i still enjoy it but boy reading the novels is like reading fanfiction
>I LIVE! FLESH AND BLOOD AND BONE! I AM ALIVE!
B-but you don't HAVE to interact with her. It was your fault that she trapped you in a cutscene and forced a fight onto you.
im thinking of playing BG1 for the first time, anything i should know going into it? any recommended builds?
FR is whatever, the holy trinity is dark sun, planescape, and eberron. honorable mention to spelljammer
Turning yourself female via magic in order to join an exclusively female clergy sounds a bit loophole-ish.
They're not doing it surreptitiously, the goddess decreed that men can join under this condition.
Which play style you like the most? For BG1, Sleep is insanely powerful and makes 90% fights trivial, make one of your casters learn it asap. It becomes useless very quickly in bg2 though
Could someone share their complete BG:Tutu folder so I don't have to bother with EE?
What are the chances of having an Eilistraee worshipping waifu as a companion in BG3? Eilistraee was always a fan favourite.
you can't deactivate the sprite blurring shit they added, there's no way to make 2.5 look like 1.3, they fundamentally broke the graphics, i'd source more but i'm on mobile. i've spent too many hours fucking with bgee mods/versions, 2.5 is cancer, you need to pirate the original gog releases of enhanced editions (1.3).
not much reason to play og versions since you can remove all the beamdog shit from ee no problem
Just checking that basedbro posted this.
you cast web and then you cast stinking cloud
congrats you can beat bg saga with any character now
sleep spell op
>What are the chances of having an Eilistraee worshipping waifu as a companion in BG3?
0%
Turn based games should have died once computers could actually handle shit. It's a byproduct of its time and shouldnt exist anymore gramps.
I should've guessed.
Gay dwarf it is, it seems.
I always thought web just stopped movement and did no other penalties whatsoever.
It stuns them completely, you can also cast multiple web spells so they have to save check multiple times
That druid spell similar to it only stops movement
i've been doing some research and while i like spell users more, everyone says berserker is best for first time players
Wait, how can Elminster be a sex god, if he is an old fart?
t. casual gamer
he has a magic wand
been playing since bg1 release, zerker is a great pick, very fun and strong and easy to fully utilise. i like 2h sword but anything works. dual wield warhammers is pretty beast
He looks like Sean Connery. And Goddess of Magic is his waifu. How do you think?
>being this insecure over some people not caring for minor qol improvements
BG1 vanilla does not have subclasses. Or certain classes like sorcerer. Nor dual-wielding. That's one of the biggest diferrences between vanilla and EE.
Yeah as a first timer you'll most likely have problems with ccs, barbarians and berserkers can become immune to nearly all of them
off the top of my head
For melee fighters, you max str/dex/con at character creation obviously. If you plan on dual wielding, I suggest you stay away from Katanas for BG1, they are extremely rare and cost a lot. In bg2 you don't have much choice for katanas either, though the choices you have are really good. Still I'd stick to long swords, axes or flails
For your party always have a thief who levels up their detect traps and open locks skill. Those skills max at 100, only stealth skills and pickpocket have a use after 100 IIRC
Archers are insanely powerful in BG1 but keep falling down after that, keep in mind. There is an archer companion you can get rather early, Kivan, if you want. He'll kill enemies before you can reach them and you can combine a mage's web spell with explosive arrows for AOE, your berserker won't even have to hit enemies
Seriously though archery rapes everything in that game
For clerics command is very useful, unlike sleep no enemy is completely immune against it
How can I play fucking BG without mods or shitty lefty editions!?
this is true but even in the day i would play with tutu mod which added the kits, it's pretty common
very informative, thank you!
post more cheesy shit, I wanna replay bg2 for the thrill of adventure but actually hate dnd
by the time you finish tutorial your mages and druids can summon a fire elemental. it's immune to mundane weapons and trivializes the first few dungeons
look for a torrent of "the original saga" , it's easier to just mod out the beamdog shit from EE 1.3 though.
>no blue checkmark
>no preferred gender pronouns
>strong chin
what's the problem here
dun dun duuuuuuun, dun dun duuuuuuuuuuun DUN!
What's exactly wrong with him?
Were those games well written?
He isn't Chris Avellone
Totemic druid summons are also immune to normal weapons. If you play a non EE BG1 with kits they make the whole game trivial. With EE they are nerfed so they gain that property during BG2 levels
A Thief/mage or f/m/t can use mislead spell to stay in stealth and backstab forever. Your enemies won't look around for your mislead copy
You know how you can't set traps when the enemies are around you? If you blind your thief, you can use traps as long as the enemies aren't really close to you.
Adding to this post, glitterdust is also very powerful. The enemies will just stand around doing nothing
>Were those games well written?
Diablo 3 is shit. Numenria is shit. Wasteland is shit.
If you poke Larian enough about it you can bet your ass that they will add drow sex priestesses. They are nerds trough and trough and will appreciate the fun quests and set pieces that can be done around you sneaking around a drow temple as the elves are having an orgy.
i like chris but i'm getting tired of this meme that he's the only capable writer on the planet
>They are nerds trough and trough
WotC are nerds too tho. And they have the final say on this.
He writes only apolitical stories, which in modern world is a big rarity.
Either one is fine. The EE content is forgettable at beast, obviously meh at worst. SoD is all the 'meh content' stretched out into an expansion pack. Honestly, it's all fine either way. EE is easier for multiplayer these days but.. ehh.
i'd like to recommend a let's play if i can, by Mivsan_NT, a true bg autist who knows pretty much everything about the games. he has a full playthrough 100% style of bg trilogy, with a few mods to make the game harder. if you don't feel like you're gonna play the games but you wanna see someone play them properly, he has the best playthrough online no doubt. also he doesn't do cringy voice acting or read every dialogue out, he just says pause the vid, and gives a summary of each conversation. inb4 eceleb shit, he's small channel, only played bg.
no
Is there any way at all to get the original editions of BG and BG2 without having to buy Beamdog's cuckshit, or do I just have to pirate them at this point
That is why I am apprehensive about this game. WotC seems to be holding Larian by the balls.
Just pirate them. UnlessWotC/Larian steps in and restores vanilla versions into GoG or Steam. Unlikely that.
openpirate.cc
openpirate.cc
these 2 torrents are the best choices imo, the sarah115 uploads, they are the original gog releases of the enhanced editions, BEFORE the siege of dragonspear changes, before the cancerous sprite changes etc. it still has the new party members just just ignore them or mod them out
sarah116*
You could also not side with her or ignore the event when she asks for help, can't you?
AND THE RIVERS RUUN REEEEDDD
That's just untrue. Nowhere in the PHB does it even hint at that
Turn based is literally the most casual game play type I can think of. Divos2 being a snooze fest on tactician, only proves this further.
How the fuck do I make the portrait sizes and UI bigger in widescreen mod?
They are tiny as fuck
No kid, keep playing your brainless action
To be fair Baldur's Gate's story was never good. The RPG elements is what made it a good game.
Forget the EE. Go for old standard games + mods and fixes. TuTu is your friend.
time travel back to when os2 released and every thread on here and reddit was WTF this game is hard! surprise once you learn the tricks it's not hard anymore. nothing to do with turnbased retard
Return to your slow games gramps.
>you
TELL ME LADS
HOW THE FUCK DO INCREASE FONT AND UI SIZE IN WIDESCREEN MOD
THEY ARE TINY AS FUCK
No one was saying it was hard if you had played other hard crpgs. Idk about reddit though, but I guess you do.
widescreen mod for the original ? set it to a lower res like 720p lol. don't think you have many options but it's been a while since i used og version.
Should I use EE then with remove beamdog companions mod?
yes they were, lie all you want. i know they were because i was in every thread helping people understand how op cc, mobility and stacking one dmg type is.
What about bug fixes and actual improvements? Didn't it launch with a ton of bugs?
IMHO it's a better idea. There are bigger fonts available for downlaod but the UI will always be tiny. Also the lack of zoom feature means things like rats are like the size of a pixel
I only skimmed through your post but damn you're a fully fledged retard.
If you have a big dick, you can go human dual wield longsword Kensai and dual class into thief at level 7. Your backstabs with Kai will be doing absolutely unfairly insane damage.
You'd be vulnerable to most ranged enemies and Mages though, because your AC will be too high. Only do this if you like the high damage glass cannon playstyle. Way late game BG2 you can suddenly get a lot of AC though. You won't find another Kensai in either game if I recall.
Berserker is good all around. Paladin is also good, and in BG2 and there's a +5 holy avenger you can get not super late into the game, when your party is level 13 or so. Don't worry about going Mage. You'll get plenty of opportunities to recruit Mages into your party. By chapter 2 you'll already have 2 mages thrown at you with the chance for a third through a quest. You do need to learn to utilize magic or be fucked in BG2 though. You'll start to understand once you face some mages in the 2nd game. The defensive spells are alot better than they might seem at first.
DO NOT go wizard slayer. It's the no fun allowed class.
>BEFORE the siege of dragonspear changes, before the cancerous sprite changes etc.
What happened?
What about mod compatibility and bug fixes? Isn't this version full of bugs and mostly incompatible with mods?
yes imo, see my other post
for links to ee 1.3. the problem is fucking beamdog made shit so hard, cause they patched bg1 and 2 and ruined them, and they don't let you backpatch, so the only way to get the initial releases of ee are piracy. if you try to ask anyone on reddit or beamdog forums they will attack you for daring to imply that beamdog doesn't know what's best for you. it's actually harder now than ever before to get a solid copy running. if you manage it, don't uninstall it ever
I have them on gog from a long time ago
the old versions before they got replaced
But when I try to run it in 720p it doesn't cover the whole screen
I guess I really have no choice but to use EE since there is no way to increase the UI size
oh yes certainly, you'll be trawling through github archives reinstalling things 20 times until you get the right version
No. Just leave them in. If you've never played the game, you don't even know who they are. If you don't like them, ignore them. They won't bother you again. At absolute least, they add more world building, because more people being places doing things makes the game feel slightly more alive. You don't have to censors yourself, my dude. I promise you that if you don't like literally any companion, even canon ones, you can ignore them or get rid of them easily, and they won't bother you again.
They are a pain in the ass to fight.
>Open door
>Mindflayer
>instantly dead
Agreed. I think Neera is pretty nice. The rest are okish to horrible but Neera is decent.
She's balanced and pretty funny.
lots of changes that would be exhausting to go through, the big ones for me are the graphics changes and the menu changes, and breaking many mods. you might find the latest version doesn't bother you, if so go nuts. for someone with deep nostalgia for the game i find it insulting
They added outlines to characters, which are off by default and optional with a simple toggle.
They added their new dark UI to the games, which sure, maybe you don't like, but it's far too better to mod a different hud over latest version than to miss out on the positive features and the bugfixes they bring to the table.
Don't listen to this guy
>. If you've never played the game, you don't even know who they are
that's exactly why you remove them, so you don't get tricked into playing fanfiction
>which are off by default and optional with a simple toggle
lies and slander, you can not make 2.5 look like 1.3, the graphics are fundamentally raped, there's no setting to fix it, the linear scaling option doesn't do what you think it does. i know what the fucking game is supposed to look like after 1000 hours, and it's not that
>Baldur's Gate EE is on the play store for like 10 bucks
Should i buy it bros?
if you don't mind completely wrecking bg1's balance. then sure.
I played 2 over 13 years ago, I literally remember 0 about it. Not a thing. I just hope it's not going to be super important because I don't quite feel like replaying.
bro let's just smear vaseline over the old textures and charge 30 bucks for it. fucking GET ENHANCED MY DUDES
Did they ruin the other EEs (Planescape, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter) or only BG??
I've heard that the neverwinter nights ee breaks a lot of user-created modules.
>Don't get tricked into having fun, user!
If he runs into them and likes them enough to keep them, then at the end of the day says "I had a lot of fun and that story was great" what the fuck matters? There are like 30 fucking companions in these games and your party size is 1+5. You're not going to get the same experience as everyone else. Play however you want.
No. You shouldn't listen to the retards that tell you the EE versions are unplayable and you should avoid them like the plague. They're perfect fine. However, Beamdog is a horrible company, and you should definitely pirate them.
Sensible neutral drow mage>evil drow priestess>goody eilistrae hippie drow
i shit in the mouth of beamdog in my sleep but don't let it stop you playing bg. if you aren't able to fuck around with versions and shit just get the ee, it's only a big deal for autists like me who obsess over small details. nwn and pst ee's seemed great from what i tried of them
>hoo boy i sure did enjoy playing the witcher 3 ENHANCED EDITION 2028 (tm)
>"oh cool i played that back in the day, what's your favourite character user?"
>I LIKE JIBBLES, GERALTS TRUSTY PIXIE COMPANION! SHE'S JUST SO QUIRKY@
So, how do Eldritch Horror cults work in D&D? Are they just like any other religion or still secret underground things?
Do they have missionaries?
>tfw no Jibbles romance
Mindflayers aren't like that
Play Enhanced Edition with mods that remove the NPCs that aren't in the original.
I saw Stranger Things, they were pretty much like a big tentacle monster from another realm with mind powers, so pretty much like that
there is the cult of the unseeing eye in bg2, they worship a beholder and encourage their members to cut out their eyes. they operate in secret underground lair but have a missionary come to the surface to bring in new meat.
mind flayers have their own society, they keep humanoids as slaves like cattle dogs, through mind control/psychic attacks
In BG2, there's a cult that worships a beholder. They are directly at odds with worshippers of Helm. They have priests who preach in the open from time to time, to recruit more followers. This upsets the other temples and most people, but they can't legally do anything about it. They are treated exactly like a satanic cult. Most people deny their legitimacy, and would keep their kids away from interacting with anyone who might be suspected of dealing with them.
This cult specifically acts like many cults. It radicalizes its followers, then convinces them that to see the truth, they have to have their eyes removed, promising power and enlightenment if they survive the process. Preachers often find a few followers by down-talking the other gods and blaming daily and societal problems on them not intervening, which they should if they were real / benevolent, and promising his god is real and practical.
As for mind flayers specifically, they don't really have cults dedicated to them. They just snatch people and enslave them for power or entertainment. It is unlikely a mind flayer would want followers with any level of autonomy.
based fellow bg scholar
Wizards of the coast mindflayers aren't very lovecraftian, their horror is more along the lines of mind control/brainwashing/brain eating.
Maybe they will combine them, fighting regular sized looking dudes with tentacles on their head for the entire game will get boring, I need more variety in the tentacle monsters.
Moat of the problems in EE like sprite outlines can be changed in bout 3 seconds in the options menu, so if you're a first timer like me its not a bad way to go - that being said the UI is redone and arguably shittier.
Regardless of what version you play, expect some frustration at DnD rules - its primitive as all hell but it's not as bad as some make it out to be - I'm a dummy with the most basic knowledge of class building and the game has been fairly easy up until Durlag's Tower.
All in all, stop worrying about what version you play and worry about the game itself - it's fun.
it's probably going to have hundreds of enemy types if they're doing it properly, at least i hope so. hobgoblins, dragons, yagatura or whatever snake men are called, kobolds and demons etc, it won't be some generic shit fighting tentacle men the whole time lol
This. Also fucking Durlag's Tower should be end-game for BG1. I'm playing with Enhanced Edition Trilogy, so I returned during BG2 to do unfinished BG1 content, and Durlag's tower felt like a slog even at my level. Must be hell at the intended level.
i've been going over the version stuff for people here but yes ultimately no matter what version you play, it's better to play the game than not to. my recommendations of mods and pirated versions etc are more for returning fans who want as close to 1998 as possible for nostalgia. for first timers, the ee is great don't worry about it.
Wait, so they are just run of the mill 1950s type alien invaders then?
Thats kind of underwhelming, with the reveal trailer I was expecting more variety and a plot akin to "what if Lovecraft monsters invaded Lord of the Ring" with typical fantasy tropes clashing with unknown madness and horrors from beyond, so much for that I suppose.
