Stuff like Elder Scrolls and Halo are great. Maybe some of Destiny since Marty worked a bit on that. Can't think of many others off the top of my head. Western devs are just uninspired these days.

There's nothing wrong with background music though, music created for a game needs to complement it and not be annoying to listen to after a while, which is something many Japanese soundtracks, especially JRPGs fail at doing. Best example of that I can think of is Skyrim, every time I modded the game to have soundtracks from elsewhere, even when the people who made the mods "carefully selected" the music being used it always got grating to hear after a while, something that never happened with the OG Skyrim soundtrack.
