Better story/characters and worse gameplay overall. Also Innocent Sin being insultingly easy regardless of which version you play.

It's basically JoJo except the main antagonists are God's.

P1 has HORRIBLE dungeon design. Really weak gimmicks and constant dead-ends with nothing in them. There's plenty of other Atlus games that do first-person dungeon crawling better. P2's dungeons aren't great but at least they have things in them.

That's called having different themes. I personally find the rumors concept a lot more interesting, P1's story is very straightforward for the most part.

I'd put them about the same. P2 PSP benefits from its soundtrack not being butchered.

P1 had a terrible localization, fixed by the PSP version, but it ruined the dark soundtrack.
EP for PS also has a slightly rough localization, and is the second half of a game that didn't come out in the US until the PSP version.

P1 and P2 are shit games. In fact, most Atlus games are low budget trash. Sometimes they have cool music and art but that's it.

Nothing to talk about with 1.

2's got a great story and all but I don't blame people for not being able to bear the bad gameplay.

Better story/character development instead of being mostly focused around Maki, but worse dungeons.

For the Ps3 backwards compatibility you're able to get Persona 1 and 2 for around 10$ I think

For any user wishing to play Persona 1-
Advantages the PSP version has over the PS1 version:
>Better/easier gameplay (Shows grid, dungeons are less of a slog, etc)
>Superior localization/script (No Americans, no bad grammar or poorly translated lines/Persona names)
>Snow Queen route (Alternate story, new dungeons, harder difficulty, etc)
Advantages the PS1 version has over the PSP verison:
>Superior graphics (no cut frames, no blur, better aspect ratio, UI is unique)
>Superior soundtrack (over 100 tracks compared to the PSP's 67, and the PSP's soundtrack usually doesn't fit the game at all)
>Superior sound effects (PSP version just reuses the out-of-battle menu effects for the battle menu, the Persona summoning sounds have been absolutely butchered, etc)
>Superior atmosphere (Self explanitory)
In conclusion: If you don't give a shit about the poor localization and dialogue or tedious gameplay, play Revelations. If you don't give a shit about atmosphere, looks, or music, rather caring about the gameplay and plot, play the remake.
But, truly, the best way to go would be learning Japanese and playing Megami Ibunroku.

Also, that PS1 music patch for the remake is garbage; there's still, after all, only so many songs it can replace. And the battle music doesn't play itself out.

one user managed to patch the original music into the psp version. It's far from perfect but still neat.

Good, because the encounter rates are rediculous (sans Revelations), ESPECIALLY in P2, which give maybe 5-11 seconds between each battle, depending on the situation. It wasn't that much of a problem for me, since I like the battles in P2, but they're certainly not everyone's cup of tea. P1 is a bit more lenient, but I found the battles to be more tiresome. And, of course, P1's dungeons are mazes, so it's really easy to make a wrong turn and trigger more unneeded battles.
There's a spell that wards off encounters though, but it comes later in the games. I don't think the spell is in Revelations, though.

No, that was a plot point from Trinity Soul, but it was rendered non-canon several years ago. Being older doesn't do anything to Persona ability, it's just that not using it for a while can make it weaker until you get back into it. Baofu is older in EP than most of the younger characters would be in the time of 3, and he could use one just fine. They just don't have a reason to use one in everyday life.
