The MW2 75th Ranger missions are unironically some of the best and most kino missions that I've played in a FPS. I don't care how unrealistic it is to have Russian's invading DC those missions made my American dick hard.

Which is fuckong stupid. Russia had a defensive military doctrine. They could not invade all of Europe and then cross the Atlantic unnoticed to invade the East coast.

The reason the Russia got away with the invasion of America is that they shut down America's surveillance system and sent out a bunch of false positives to keep the Americans busy before the actually invasion force hit. Europe either sat on their hands because they assumed the US was at fault for the airport attack, or the Russians went through the arctic.

The only reason the Russians got away with their invasion of Europe was Makarov's massive chemical attack.

The only thing that would be really annoying is if Russia did invade the US today. You'd see Trump supporters siding with the Russians instead of defending America.

MW2's main war plot really only makes sense if they hit the west coast first, maybe Seattle, could've had some good Canadian mission. MW3 could've been when they got their way to the US East coast. Could've been decently cool.
