The color/type design influence is not a hard rule.
That shade of purple could mean poison, psychic, water, ghost, or dark. Given the sheen to the belly and thighs and the fact that it is a bird, the mon can fall under Psychic, Dark, Steel, or Flying. The general "knight" vibe typically precludes Dark and something about the eyes implies it isn't a Psychic type.
So: Steel and Flying.

Except Skarmory is a bird made of metal while Corviknight is a bird in metal armor. Skarmory is almost sickly underweight in comparison to the massive crow/raven.

Dark Types are not necessarily evil. Dark are tricksters, brutes, or just plain creepy. Ravens and crows do fall under "trickster" in a lot of fairytales and mythology. They are clever, they can be thieves, lurk around the gallows, ect. Then there's the assistants or minions to gods like in Norse Mythology. In real life they can make tools and remember people.
So I can see how you could think it is a Dark type... except going by the armor it is clearly a knight and most of the time knights in child-oriented media are the good guys.

I did think it'd be Flying/Dark at the reveal. And I know that the Dark type has always generally been dirty fighting rather than actual evil. It's why Incineroar is Dark rather than fighting, despite being a wrestler since it's a heel, etc.

I'm not as familiar with the London-specific folklore. I assumed it'd be Dark/Steel but the knight influence was throwing me off. Flying would be obvious (pretty much all birds are flying... it was originally the Bird type) but I thought they might mix up new type mixes.

With folklore and fairytales aside from most European tales and variations I'm somewhat familiar with mythical creatures in China, Japan, and Korea.
With the UK I know fairytales, Arthurian legends, and various Celtic stuff. Not city specific stuff or more 'modern' urban legends.

Different eras for one, but the Celtic people were from Ireland and Scotland, England initially as well until the Romans showed up, the celtic tribes that survived there went the other side of Hadrian's wall with the Picts up in Scotland and their cultures sorta became one. The Morrigan specifically is from Irish Folklore however, hence why I said they would be more likely to go with a Morgana/Morgan Le Fay inspiration.

I don't know the exact eras of the Celtic people, but Arthurian legend is from the 5th-6th century, so in some folklore cases there will be time discrepancies as well.

Dark type is literally "evil" in japan. The prime characteristic is that they lie and decieve or are inherently violent, vicious or cruel in some way.

On a different note, I wish we could incorporate the TCG lore into the main games somehow. Collosseum games were close to the Dark pokemon from the early TCG era and I have been cucked for 17~ years out of Delta Species.
