Scaffolding. You're able to climb it like a ladder, but it's 5 times less likely to get you murdered, and you can easily stop in place to plant more down. It also has gravity and can stack up like sand in order to create a stable building frame for when you have enough blocks to fill it in.

Slime blocks have a much better use in redstone than being your safety net. Scaffolding takes less time to take down en masse than slime blocks, and can easily be slapped down to bridge a fairly large gap in between mountain cliffs. Besides, bamboo is not a scarce resource in the slightest.
You wanna know what's really fucking useless? Pandas. Those shits just give you bamboo. Kill one for a crop and watch as you get several tons of bamboo within 1-2 days.

I use polished andesite with stone in a checkerboard pattern. It actually looks pretty decent.

i'd like more cave exploration stuff also. i like how it combines with the destroy the environment thing minecraft has. easily one of my most favorite things to do.

It's also fantastic for exploring places like the nether and actually gives you a reason to excitedly find a jungle biom or loot sunken chests. One of the best blocks ever released

Unfortunately the aquatic update showed just how baren nearly every other environment is, and that update wasn't even particularly amazing. Hopefully it at leasts raises the standard of what normies are willing to swallow

diorite is good for checkerboard floors with other blocks, andesite can be used as a poor man's smooth stone
