fucking gross dude why would you make that??
they removed hit dice misses.

FUCK RPG CODEX!
fuck you!
GOG-
Role-playing - Real-time - Fantasy oh boy it will be RTWP
God bless
Turnbase fags seething
is there a source of your information?
well let's hope that it is the case
"One of the modifications: Misses from dice rolls. “The very obvious one would be that you tend to miss a lot when you roll the dice, which is fine when you’re playing on the tabletop, but it’s not so cool when you’re playing a video game,” Vincke said. “We had to have solutions for that.”"
venturebeat.com
No. Larian will not let us down. THAC0 is a shoe in.
was this series always as eldrich as 3 is looking like? If it was, i wish i had known.
D&D is fucking terrible for videogames mate
it's designed with tabletop in mind, if there's no DM removing all the stupid it doesn't work
Does he serve the Flaming Fist?
this is just disqusting
the greatest turn based combat system put in a videogame was designed with D&D in place you stupid retard
and tabletop rulesets are absolutely perfect for videogames, since tabletops are usually built with no limits to the imagination which allows for a lot of cool shit that can be implemented in games - the most notable example of this being magic in BG2.
boy, that is some consistent terribleness.

>"It is, as they say, your funeral."
Not anymore
As long as Beamdog trash is not considered canon by Larian, it will be good
what would be the point then?
>Larian will not let us down.
nothing they made yet qualifies this as more than wishful thinking.
That's not how turning into a mindflayer works.
>5E
>not isometric
>aberration-based campaign
It's going to be shit.
What’s gonna happen to THAC0?
Bros?
So... what would a "miss" look like under that system? minimum damage? DEX and AC just become indirect hit points for attacks?
Should I get the enchaced editions? Who are the tranny npcs so I can kill them early?
the tranny is only in the beamdog expansion
>Beamdog
lmao they got btfo so hard by WotC. I remember 2 or 3 years ago when there were rumors they were working on Baldur's Gate III. They lost their license to fucking larian.
>THAC0
Way too complicated for zoomies
Original portraits are way better.
Well Divinity Original Sin 2 has an accuracy stat. So they could still incorporate misses, it might just not be a die roll vs ac
you have no choice if you want to play the original games. They are only sold bundled with the enhanced edition. Unless you pirate, of course.
why do you think they would trust the dnd license to literal whos? enhanced editions are normally outsourced to randoms
It uses the novels as canon so probably not.
if theres some better versions I can pirate then I sure as hell will, tell me
>It uses the novels as canon so probably not.
Proof?
Now to hope that NWN gets some love again someday.
They aren’t.
The best part was them insisting on SoD success.
>not getting a classic BG collection off ebay in a nice jewel case
>Illithids
Globe of Blades, ez
>>not isometric
Source on that? That would be stupid.
then Don't play, faggot
>That's not how turning into a mindflayer works.
It takes longer, generally. But that's how it works. Tadpole enters the host, eats the brain, and then the body metamorphosis into a squid. And magic is part of the setting, so it happening faster isn't out of the question.
the original games can be easily modded to become identical to the enhanced editions. The best mod imo is Baldur's Gate Trilogy that combines all the games into one, making it a standalone game.
Wasnt there a small gameplay snipet at the Stadia 's clusterfuck of a presentation?
>tfw Dilating CODEX is seething
End yourself, falseflagging 40%
this is super lewd I hope they let us side with them and force feed some qts illithid tadpoles
I don't get the teaser. Do Illithids turn people into Illithids? I thought they were like super xenophobic, seems weird if they are just transformed from other races...
No fucking way they will. There's too much that can go wrong
Just taking a great game's title won't make your game good. And then there's the colossal feat of modernizing it and somehow still appeasing oldfags. It's impossible for a studio like Larian, I liked their games but they're nowhere near that level yet.
It will probably be an okay game. Baldur's Gate level game? No fucking way.
they seems to be happy
rpgcodex.net
Yes, of course. The ones crying are beamcucks like you.
I just wanna play the damn things normally on my modern machine. Im not looking for ULTRAHDHUGECOCKS4K texture mods or any rebalance bullshit.
>not isometric
So could it be similar to DA:O as far as perspectve and gameplay goes?
Those portraits are awful
everyone looks like they haven't washed for months
BG2's magic system is horrendous
spells are always completely overpowered, and because no equivalent system exists for melee they're fucking boring
and the greatest turn based combat system? don't make me laugh a single slav working in his basement managed to make a better turn based combat system than anything d&d related
>Larian game
>But not set in the dogshit Divinity universe
Absolutely unironically based. Gameplay of Larian shit is great but the Divinity setting is garbage, don't reply to me.
>5th ed
Failed before they even began.
Have you tried the MMO? It has Minsc and loot boxes.
Gee, I wonder who could be behind this post.
Illithids implant people with their tadpoles. The tadpoles eat their brains, take over their bodies, and then they metamorphose into mindflayers.
Dude, pirate the original games. You can find them easily on piratebay or similar. Download the trilogy mod. Install and Play. What's hard about that?
>Liking Larian, ever
I agree
but user-kun they should be filthy they are adventurers
replying to you just because you said not to
what version did you expect them to use?
Nope, I saw enough drama about dlc for it years ago. I just enjoyed nwn2 a lot and wish WOTC would give it some proper love. Loved all the old D&D pc games.
Name a better developer for the job than Larian. I'll wait
3.5
Obsidian, obviously.
You just know that the 2rd row from the top, 3rd column from right, was some some desk lady told to sneer menacingly.
good joke
If you had played Baldur’s Gate, you wouldn’t ask this question, swine
I trust Larian to an extent. I don't trust WotC necessarily. And why call it Baldur's Gate, when the story has nothing to do with Bhaal? I'm not getting my hopes up. I hope they would at least give us likeable companions and pretty waifus and not turn the game into IWD-style create-a-party scenario. Because that would be much easier for the implementation of the MP they seem to love so much.
the guys who made pathfinder
So they are racists despite using other races for hosts and therefore needing other races, I guess there's some sort of meaning there.
kys zoomer
larian doesn't even make games with rtwp and that's a staple of the baldur's gate series. In my opinion between obsidian and owlcat they were the strangest choice.
>“You’re going to be given tough challenges. You’re going to be given a world that reacts to the decisions that you make. You’ll be asked to make very tough decisions. You’ll have companions to deal with that will have opinions about those decisions. than in Original Sin II — to fool around with and experiment and exploit, and hopefully to You’ll be given many, many systems — moreexterminate the foe that’s trying to go after you. That’s pretty much the philosophy. We want it to be so that you can play in either single-player or in multiplayer, like we did in Original Sin II. If you play it in multiplayer, each of you should be a hero with their own story. It’s very much the party as a whole that’s going to be the focus of this game. That’s probably the biggest difference between Original Sin and Baldur’s Gate 3.
>“The slogan for Baldur’s Gate III is ‘Gather Your Party.’ The party is very central to it.”
Did anyone else notice the coat of arms that was on squidface? It was the Flaming Fist.
because it takes place in Baldur's Gate
They are malevolent parasitic psychic squids from outer space.
Baldur's Gate II is my favorite game of all time. I've played it at least once per year since 2000. It pains me to see its corpse trot out for a completely pointless and unnecessary third entry.
The story does have to do with Bhaal. Takes place shortly after Bhaal comes back to life, about a century after BG2. Some 5e storyline stuff called the sundering. There’s an interview linked higher in this thread that mentions it.
you can want races as slaves and breeders but not like them lmao
Fucking OBSIDIAN.
They're the only ones aside from CD Projekt Red who probably have a chance at delivering. Bioware and Obsidian and Beamdog are trash.
Not even saying the game is going to turn out good, I would have honestly preferred it if BG stayed dead.
That it's being put in 5e is honestly the worst part.
Baldur's Gate 2 takes place in Athkatla. ToB takes place in Tethyr. The city was never that important. Player's connection to Bhaal was.
Removing hit is fine, just incorporate bad rolls into enemy defense(dodge, block, parry, weak blow bounces off the armor = miss) and have random attack animations.
my nigga i replay the game also every fucking year i feel like retard that i have so much fixation with game but thats what it is for me the holy grail of rpg
Larian are trash, fuck their gay boring games
Here is your main writer, user
Beamdog of course. With Amber returning to write the whole plot and world!
I only don't get one thing here, what "MP" stands for ?
I'd take Larian humor over Obsidian's SJW shit any day, thanks
It is absolutely the best WRPG, nothing even comes close. No other game packages that much content with a good story and solid cast and voice acting. Every single character is great except Cernd.
reminds me of something
well now that he's back he's probably been smashing thots like mad to make up for lost time, maybe you'll be the second coming of Bhaalspawn
YAGSBARO
So it's a sequel in name only right? Can't imagine they'd expect everyone to go back and play a pair of two decade old games to get caught up.
>Larian humor
Actually it will fit perfectly in Forgotten Realms world
Zoolander?
>not isometric
Alright I got a little bit more interested in this game.
Inxile
Go back to your fedora website, codex shitter.
its hundreds of years later and they'll probably recap anything thats relevant to BG3
so illythids or whatever they are called are some kind of parasites that grows out of your body just like the aliens?
My problem with that is - 5e Forgotten Realms lore makes absolutely no sense. Greenwood started wrtiting about the Second Sundering and wanted to faithfully portay the world of Faerun in 5e. But halfway through, WotC went "fuck that noise" and dropped all the plans for the metaplot. Now FR is this weird "pick your own canon" setting that makes no sense when you think about it. The lorebooks have a cute habit of conradicting each other (MToF and SCAG) for instance.

>Gameplay of Larian shit is great
It's not tho, their gameplay has been shit since after Divine Divinity.
At least he doesn't have have pronouns in his bio.
Thank god for small miracles.
>mfw it will be TURN BASED like all good RPGs should be
Why I am not surprised that Larian adores Spelljammer?
Forgotten Realms is also dogshit
not even that, but the fucking source material is turn based. I am hoping for a solid story with the gameplay of ToEE
what's wrong with it?
>the greatest turn based combat system put in a videogame was designed with D&D in place you stupid retard
You're full of shit.
nothing, he was just showing the writer for the game.
they're aliens yes
I'm going to play the first two and actually finish them before 3 comes out.
Any suggestions and recommendations?
>about a century after BG2
So no Imoen? Dropped.
Important question, but will we get evil Drow tsundere as party member?
Far less dogshit than Divinity, get real.
ToEE's gameplay is shit.
At least DDO had the sense to use the superior official setting, Eberron
If it's not RTwP, then it's not Baldur's Gate
You're shit, faggot.
>what's wrong with it?
>writer of Diablo 3, Numenera, Wasteland
Yep, nothing wrong here
MC from BG is canonically dead I think. Some interview mentions that the story takes place after a campaign in which the Bhaalspawn is killed.
Install Tutu for 1
And NPC Project too if you don't care about experiencing the vanilla game and want your companions to have more personality
Larian dev here, I'll tell you but only if you give me the source.
They slowly eat the brain of their host and take its place before transforming the body into a Mindflayer, yes.
>reading that comic
I really hate lawful good/paladin types.
If you're not the progeny of your BG 1 & 2 character I'm out. There needs to be a background option for each possible place your child was born at the end of Throne. Mine would be a half-elf growing up in hobbiton because his dad fucked off to become an evil god.
havent heard of these aging cuckolds since the old tortanic
retarded larianigger shill projecting hype in these threads with the same 60 people bumping them
it's quite pathetic but not surprising , pic related
probably is into larian's excrement as well
You get a Drizzt cameo. That's about it.
>beheading a perfectly good drow
whats the point of bg3 the story was complete
>You get a Drizzt cameo
What about Elminster?
degenerate..
They made a game where you are a dragon with a jetpack on a zeppelin. Of course they fucking love Spelljammer.
Isn’t this that comic with the accompanying porn game?
what was the point of making the hobbit movie a trilogy? the book is short as fuck
They've made real time RPGs and RTWP is basically a half-assed real time game where you don't bother to pace the micromanagement time and just throw in a pause feature for convenience.
Sadly i only remember valen and soulasomething
>what is Temple of Elemental Evil
I remember showing no mercy and Cloudkilling Drow children in the Underdark got me Good points in BGII. I wonder if BGIII will have similarly woke morality.
Isn't BG3 taking place 100 years after BG2. Dunno if he's still alive then.
Because BG and NWN are the only names anyone positively associates with D&D video games. If they made BG3 but called it something else, no one would give a fuck.
An adventure module for Dungeons & Dragons created in 1985 by Gary Gygax and Frank Mentzer.
>torment, zero fag, diablo 3
holy fucking shit, the epitome of degeneracy
He is an immortal wizard
I hope they get rid of rtwp. It doesn't feel like the tabletop game at all.
>lawful good/paladin types
unironically my favorurite archetype to RP. depending on how smart the paladin is, you can legit play him as evil because he doesn't realize that's what he's doing
of course, it's a bit harder if you have a literal god watching over your actions and judging them by an in-universe objective standard of good/evil, so it's hard to do that with an unaware/stupid paladin, but it can still be done if the paladin has high enough int to rationalize it
these characters also lend themselves to very extreme behaviour, which is great for drama.

He is the Gandalf of FR, of course he is
Fuck I love how intense 3.5ED battles in Icewind Dale and infinity games are.
Have you taken the no-savescumming pledge? 5th ED is something I've never looked up and hope it'll be good.
I understand where mind flayers come from, but where do elder brains come from?
A piece of shit that belongs nowhere near the best turn based games of all time.
Did they fuck the neckhole?
isometric != top-down view. Even Fallout wasn't isometric (it's cavalier oblique). Get fucked, nerd.
That got a videogame adaptation that implemented the best party-based turn based combat in a western cRPG to date.
Shamefully the actual game was trash in terms of everything else.
3.5 zoomer get out
Isn't elminster like the gandalf of forgotten realms?
None of the Infinity Engine games use 3.5. IWD2 uses 3.0 and it is worse off than IWD1 for it.
any torrents for originals?
FUCKING WHAT SOURCE
5e is good if you're actually playing D&D. Paizofags will tell you that it's too casualized and made for babies, but they're just salty that Pathfinder 2 is going to be complete shit. The real question is whether 5e can be reasonably adapted to a video game, and the fact that no one has tried until now is an indicator of how challenging that is.
He is Ed Greenwood's self insert
if you use qbittorrent just use the search feature.
He’s like a thousand years old or some shit
play the EE there is no reason not to you will yourself hastle with resolution etc
it's fucked, isn't it
>the best party-based turn based combat in a western cRPG to date.
Get some standards. ToEE is a broken pile of shit even divorced from the garbage that is the game's encounters.
Play Dungeons and Dragons
Bunch of Illithid brains merged together.
Death isn't much of a problem to casters
I want to but the people who play it are all faggots and I dont want to be near them.
>elminster
Soon thereafter, while he was still a young adult, Mystra transformed Elminster into a woman to strengthen his bond with magic and to know what it was to be a woman. This change also allowed her, now called "Elmara", to move within his enemies' circles without their knowledge that she was in fact the last surviving prince of Athalantar
I am playing it on saturday with friends actually
>2rd
both easytutu and the trilogy mod have high-resolution mods by default.
Price of Freedom comic from ArbuzBudesh. Nameless is cute.
I have. literally nothing comes close to ToEE's combat. If it didn't have the cancer UI, shit companions, story, pathing, quests, and literally everything that isn't combat, it'd be up there with BG2.
From action economy, to combat pacing, to solving the central issue with turn-based games (encounters flow too slowly) with the "concurrent turns" option- ToEE did everything right when it came to combat.
Delete this please. Drows are for gentle loving only!
I'm playing through pic related right now. That's the best I can do.
This makes me angry.
Also, alignment is often poorly handled. If you actively engage in evil or dishonorable acts, that's evil. There's not much fucking wiggle room. It doesn't matter if you're acting by some edict or in the name of your god. If your actions are vile, you're not lawful good.
Must be quite the disparity between the minds of devs and players if someone sees that on a resume and thinks "yeah, we want this guy"
true words
Once played a pali who was the most nicest and selfless person ever, so long as you were a good race. He was also running concentration camps for evil and using these camps to research a spell that would neuter/kill all drow, kabolbs, and orcs.
It's a fakeout. She survives.
Temple of elemental evil is better than BG and there's nothing your autism screams can do to change that. At least for Planescape you had the argument that its hurr durr too narrative focused, not enough balance between story and combat.
Eat shit.
>“Those were great games for their time (baldur's gate, icewind etc), but next year is 2020 and you can’t do the same things you did back then. No one would want to play it. Well, people would want to play it, but it wouldn’t meet the expectations of a modern video game” says Vincke creator of Divinity:Original Sin 1
Are you ready for another "we want the X audience" episode?
I would but I don't have friends. That's why I play crpgs instead.
Campaign I used to play in had a player with a Saurial PC. Used a Dragonbait figure for him. Always thought the sword looked awfully silly.
i don't have friends
Will she appear in BG3?
Nope. Keep on the Borderlands is an improvement on ToEE in every way and the combat still fucking sucks. 3.5 is a garbage system for tactical combat and you are too dumb to ever understand why.
got a torrent for that bro?
If they go for the novel canon I'm going to kill myself, there's no way they would fuck everyone who loves baldurs gate over by having a canon bhaalspawn who was a complete bitch that ended up being killed in a level 1-5 module right?

I always thought it was a mace until I looked at it more closely.
better than the world of warcraft current edition
lol
inexile is making tee2
They literally can't - the very fact that vidya Minsc is a canonical character in the comics and 5e lore prevents that. Book Minsc never joined Bhaalspawn. Also he was a redhead with a beard.
There’s also a game based on the comic. Feels like it was inspired by infinity engine games, but it’s kinda jank and really incomplete.
Some art peaked at 3rd edition, the most obvious one being Dragons.

DnD lore scrub, does illithids "reproduce" by infecting or mindfucking other races into their own or what exactly is happening in the trailer?
Why did Sven dodge the question then user
I mean 3E dragons are the standard upon all other dragons are judged on.
Multiplayer?
Yes. It just usually takes longer.
read the thread
Brain impregnation.
>Mind flayers use other creatures to reproduce. They implant a juvenile illithid inside a victim's skull, where the tadpole shaped offspring eats the creature's brain. The progeny's Far Realm essence irrevocably alters the creature's form, turning it into an adult illithid with features that hint at its former occupant. Some mind flayer cabals search out specific vessels for their young, believing that a powerful host body makes for a strong illithid.
I still have the 3.0 rule book lying around somewhere, the art was fucking great in that book.
I also like the 5th edition in your pic tbhwy.
Tadpole is laid inside your mind, it eats your brain and eventually transform your body
> "Paladins are not stupid, and in general there is no rule of Lawful Good against killing enemies. The old adage about nits making lice applies. Also, as I have often noted, a paladin can freely dispatch prisoners of Evil alignment that have surrendered and renounced that alignment in favor of Lawful Good. They are then sent on to their reward before they can backslide.
>An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is by no means anything but Lawful and Good. Prisoners guilty of murder or similar capital crimes can be executed without violating any precept of the alignment. Hanging is likely the usual method of such execution, although it might be beheading, strangulation, etc. A paladin is likely a figure that would be considered a fair judge of criminal conduct.
>The Anglo-Saxon punishment for rape and/or murder of a woman was as follows: tearing off of the scalp, cutting off of the ears and nose, blinding, chopping off of the feet and hands, and leaving the criminal beside the road for all bypassers to see. I don't know if they cauterized the limb stumps or not before doing that. It was said that a woman and child could walk the length and breadth of England without fear of molestation then...
>Chivington might have been quoted as saying "nits make lice," but he is certainly not the first one to make such an observation as it is an observable fact. If you have read the account of wooden Leg, a warrior of the Cheyenne tribe that fought against Custer et al., he dispassionately noted killing an enemy squaw for the reason in question.
>I am not going to waste my time and yours debating ethics and philosophy. I will state unequivocally that in the alignment system as presented in OAD&D, an eye for an eye is lawful and just, Lawful Good, as misconduct is to be punished under just laws.
>Lawful Neutrality countenances malign laws. Lawful Good does not.
-Gary Gygax, On Paladins
If the novel is Murder in Baldurs Gate then yes definitely it is based on that
well even in 5e canon bhaalspawn is called abdul and is killed in a level 1-5 module which brings bhaal back, it's just a spit in the fucking face

Out of all the nu-CRPGs, Larian are the only ones who have managed to make one that have actually been improvements and not just shitty attempts at recreating the old ones like e.g. tides of numenera, or wasteland, or pillars did.
If it was obsidian saying this shit I'd mentally label this game as fucked before it's even out, but with Larian I at least have some hope.
>The non-combatants after a siege would likely be judged as worthy of death by a LG opponent force and executed. A NG opponent would likely admonish them to change their ways before freeing them. A CG force might enslave them so as to correct their ways or else do as the NG party did. CN and LN opponents would likely slaughter the lot. Evil opponents would enlist, enslave, or execute them according to the nature of the Evil victors and that of the survivors. Enlistment would be for those of like alignment, slaughter for those opposite the victors' predisposition to order or disorder. Enslavement is an option for any sort of Evil desiring workers.
>An assassin could never become a paladin, although a paladin could become an assassin. That is, one of evil nature can never expiate their former wickedness, but any character can fall into evil to become the nadir of wickedness.
>Lawful Neutrality countenances malign laws. Lawful Good does not.
>A paladin is qualified to be judge, jury, and executioner.
>I am not going to waste my time and yours debating ethics and philosophy. I will state unequivocally that in the alignment system as presented in D&D, an eye for an eye is lawful and just, Lawful Good, as misconduct is to be punished under just laws.
>If the foes of these evil humanoids are so foolish as to accept surrender and take them prisoners so they may one day eventually go free and perform further depredations, your "Good" forces are really "Stupid." Neutral and Evil PCs would indeed accept surrender of humanoids, enlist them to fight on their behalf, and thus they would die for the profit of their masters. Thus, when I am DMing, humanoids do usually fight to the very last...
>With regard to pacifism, that is apropos, also with regards to athesim in the FRPG where there are active deities. Only idiocy or mental derangement could explain such absurd beliefs in such a milieu.
-Also Gygax
How they gonna use Spelljammer, if it's not suitable 5th Edition?
what a fucking mess why would they do this, that module shit all over the games
>those first edition orcs

1e and 2e stuff is pretty nice. I love the black and white drawings you’d see on the pages, and the covers for 2e manuals are some of the genuinely best art D&D has before it all became photoshop digital paintings.
>tfw you'll never have a method acting steel dragon waifu
Just vault my shit, famalam.
>Tell wizard to cast spell which harms your entire body, like lightning
>Tadpole gets fried and dies while you just take some damage easily healed
Just gotta be quick about it I guess.
Illithid tadpole can fail to devour the human brain while still turning the host into an illithid, right?
That would've been a pretty interesting way for giving you a playable illithid as a class choice.
What i'm really worried about is that it will look like total puke, like Dinivity Original Sin I and II
Gygax dropping the big, fat, stinky redpill all over the DnD community and subjective alignment. How will they ever recover?
Some facts about Illithids:
- They live in hives
- The center of the hive has an Elder Brain
- All Illithids in a hive and within a wide radius around it are interconnected, share all thoughts, knowledge and information, and obey the Elder Brain
- Illithids have thralls, humanoids whose brains have been fried by repeated psychic assault.
- Illithids reproduce by placing tadpoles into a humanoid and letting it eat the brain.
- Excess tadpoles are normally fed to the Elder Brain. If a colony dies, the tadpoles go battle royale mode between them and only one emerges alive. The tadpole winner turns into a Neothelid, a gigantic worm with psychic powers able to sense every living being in a 1-mile radius. You don't want to encounter one.
- Occasionally an Illithid becomes an alpha specimen and gains independence from the Elder Brain. It then takes half the colony with it and migrates to a new area, where it sets up a new colony and becomes a new Elder Brain.
Oh also:
- Illithids were once the dominant species worldwide, but their slaves rebelled.
- No one really knows if the Illithids were slain or if they teleported somewhere else or what the fuck happened to them.
- There is a big chance that time travel fuckery is involved.
I hope Baldurs gate 3 is just Divinity Original Sin 3 in all but name, mechanics and all, just to piss off all the Dunces&Dickwads boomer nerd manchildren clinging to their dead setting lmao.
Only zoomers would think this.
What about their spaceships?
It doesn't get more fantasy than that.
Mind flayers, fucking awesome.
You can add bg1npc project

I really don't get the praise DivOS2 got. Worse UI, characters, story is still shit, inventory is still aids, combat got worse, fights are still a clusterfuck because of ground effects
Should I buy Art & Arcana?
>drow cosplayer
I didn't ask for this
5E is literally the most videogamey edition they've ever made. It'll work great.
I don't get the hate for DOS visuals. Of course it's not amazing but I wouldn't call it ugly.
It's alright if you want to see a bit of D&D history, but otherwise not that interesting
is there anywhere I can get the original Baldur's Gates?
I know you can get it on GoG but that would involve paying the miserly bastards, beamdog that is.
I want to buy some books with an old DnD art. Can you recommend something good?
>"Saerileth will be the official charname romance"
I fucking love larian now
>- Illithids were once the dominant species worldwide, but their slaves rebelled.
How does literally brain crippled slaves rebel? It's not like in rome where they were simply caged, punished at will and sold as goods. They were still normal people with functional brains and bodies.
heh time for a bit o' the rough and tumble
Piracy or expensive as shit collections in amazon. Beamdog removed every way to buy the original without paying to them.
Sure love the idea of having Fighters either be shit, be gimped spellcasters, or be centered around using shitty, uninteresting maneuvers that they get to use four times before they have to take a nap. Fuck 5E. That piece of shit has the worst Fighter I've played over six different editions and you have to be trying to be worse than 3.0's Fighter.
Awesome looks pretty cute, got any more art of her?
Different company, different developers, different decade, different edition, different game, same name.
>but they're just salty that Pathfinder 2 is going to be complete shit
I hope they will brring her back as Viconia
>Saerileth
Neverwinter?
That depends on how intelligent the gods in the setting are. Or how intelligent your GM is.
That's an one-off.
I'm not aware of any others except art & arcana sorry
Illithids (like Aboleths, the dominant species before them) like to eat brains of high intelligence and not just dumb ones
That's why they bit off more than they could chew
Also some of the slaves turned to higher powers for help, for example the Duergar dwarves turned to Asmodeus for help.
aye thanks. seems to be a new version of scs that claims it reduces install time but we'll fucking see about that.
There were some psi resistant individuals that started the rebellion, like fantasy spartacuses.
RPG CODEX fux u!
If you want something on the cheap and including some boobs look up the art fantastix books of Clyde Caldwell and Elmore. Both did lots of DnD art during the 80s and 90s.
SO THEN I KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD TILL HE WAS DEAD NYAHAHAHAA
SO THEN I KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD TILL HE WAS DEAD NYAHAHAHAA
SO THEN I KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD TILL HE WAS DEAD NYAHAHAHAA
SO THEN I KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD TILL HE WAS DEAD NYAHAHAHAA
Lmao how are mindflayers even a threat nigga just use chaotic commands haha just summon skeletons nigga just don't have low INT
The slave race were the Gith, who developed psionic resistances over generations and are no slouches at magic/psionics.
Because Swen is walking on eggs here so gotta be extra careful with what he says.
A bit more D&D art by Clyde Caldwell.
Will I be able to cuck illithids with skeletons and berserker rage this time? What a bunch of pushovers for the chad evil dwarf and some summons.
He looks based, but if I had done any writing work for Diablo 3, I'd try my hardest to hide it. The story in that game was probably the worst ever told in any video game, not just inadequate but offensively bad.
Dungeons and Dragons Art and Arcana: A Visual History
You can buy it online or just get it for free in pdf form somewhere.
That's not Kui Ryoko's work, is it? Style's pretty damn similar.
How can they potentially make MC a special snowflake given the focus on Illithids and maybe Far Realm?
Heya!
That's cool, I like it.
Yes it is.
>everyone to go back and play a pair of two decade old games to get caught up.
beyond using the name, that's not target audience
what the fuck is that?
They are like Goblins, but they fuck men too.
Fuck this shit. Why the fuck do they need to bastardize one of the best games of all time. This shit is gonna be terrible and you all know it.
I dont recognize the skull/hand over a V painted on the wall at the when the shot cuts to the flaming fist guy.
This spell is about to end the Illithid's whole empire.
>tfw no Dragonlance game for more than 25 years
It is
I'll bet cash money that the Githyanki play a big part in the game as well. The protagonist will get the the Mind Flayers and the Gith to battle it out.
>implying they'll have it
>implying they'll implement all the spells
kek
you know shit is going to be cut or massively scaled back because "balance" and "we couldn't implement it properly"
The most annoying npc in Baldur's Gate
this guy understands justice
A force of nature.
They have a link to their jobs site in the BG3 web. I predict like 2 or 3 years until they release it.
>Level 8 spell
It's hard to top the Krynn series anyway.
be ready to be fucked
see
i think year or two they already working on it for two years
Noober was an OG shitposter.
>there's going to be a pantaloon quest
>newfags wouldn't know what to do with it
>will Larian deliver?
It will be what Fallout 3 was for the Fallout series.
one of the things I miss about the IEE games, they had lots of rad spells and weren't afraid to put them in because they were broken. even PS:T had some pretty cool magic.
modern CRPGs all have boring as shit magic. it's all just MMORPG-tier shit with neatly defined, well-balanced cooldowns and damage numbers and it's all constantly iterated upon to make sure nothing's broken or out-of-wack.
I guess D:OS does have lots of broken magic, but it's still all just different-coloured fireballs that leaves different coloured fire on the ground. it's cool and all I guess but I find myself craving something more
I went from hyped as fuck to what the actual fuck are they doing in a few minutes.
is the pantaloon the one that changes your sex when equipped?
>you need to import your BG2 save imported from your BG1 save to access it
At least it won't be Brotherhood of Steel, we're lucky.
For the love of god I hope they somehow decide to drop the novel’s as source material, making a defined Bhaalspawn that died like a scrub is bullshit and killing any hype I have.
Githyanki are essentially posthumans living on top of dead gods in the Astral Sea locked in an eternal crusade against the Illithid.
NWN2 has a fair amount of involvement with the them, and one part of MotB has you saving a Mindflayer stuck in a nightmare being chased by Gishes.
It's the only way it should be implemented.
This. This is all I care about. Fuck Larian redditors and all their piss poor tastes.
I want to impregnate Aerie again, hope we are having more impregnation options
It's going to be streamlined for the masses akin to usual Larian since OS.
I'll keep to Kingmaker and future PF adaptions, these slav devs are the only ones in the market who could have done BG3 justice.
I never could figure out what the fuck I was supposed to do. There was some other quests, like that letter from some lovers.
brotherhood of steel was a fun little game.
hey, brotherhood of steel was really good man
it just wasn't a good fallout game.
5E's magic is tame compared to AD&D magic so good luck with that.
this art is problematic
It's completely 100% fine.
The melee classes are more for if you don't feel like microing your mages and even then melee classes start to get lots of abilities and items to use later, you don't actually need them. Play multi/dual classes if you want the best of both words or just go back to Fortnite like the good zoomer you are.
>on last leg
>throw out a freeze spell with a 13% chance to hit
>quicksave and reset until you get it
>beat the boss
There's literally zero logic as to why a game designer would think this was a good system.
In previous editions there were powers like shatter mind blank, but psionics isn't properly implemented for 5e.
It's a common spell like fireball and magic missile.
>saving during combat
lmao
'Morally gay' moral relativists absolutely CRUSHED
Based, miss chance is an awful mechanic
Ah SERRV th' FLAYmin' FIST!
Swen said that the upcoming D&D book, Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus will precede the Baldur's Gate 3 story.
The book hasn't released yet, but from what I've gathered it begins with the premise of entire towns disappearing into nothingness, probably being pulled into the Nine Hells, just like the players will. I think they said you get pulled in at like level 4.
Of course no one knows what the story of the book is about or how it ends, all I know is that once in Hell you get to drive around on a big ass Max Max-style vehicle.
Because it's designed in the context that you don't get a reload.
When the battles take fucking 45 minutes like in Divinity, yea, that's probably necessary.
>They unironically want D&D and real time with AP
you wanted to say the art is perfect
Yes, that's precisely why it works for tabletop.
You're welcome.
Nice picture, shit resolution. Got that image in wallpaper size my dude?
Not really tame, it's all relative. 5e magic is so dumbed down you will probably just abuse only the same handful of spells during the entire adventure. Over and over again.
Shameless attempt to cash in on the name
can I get a qrd on Murder at Baldur's Gate?
Probably some "lol funny xD reference" to some event in BG1 and BG2 and that's it.
the same thing can happen in games though
see XCOM and its seed system
I never understood why people who play the IEE games for the first time today whine so much about THAC0. Baldur's Gate 1 came out in 1998, so I would've been 11 at the time when I played it as a non-native speaker, and I was able to quickly figure it out. It's not that fucking complicated.
Not that I'm saying they should keep it just to keep it, but man it annoys me how the alleged obtuseness of the system keeps getting brought up.
No, that was a belt.
unironically based, drow deserve to die
Yeah that's why crpgs are literally easy mode unless you play ironman.
Thank you, I can confirm Drows are in the game but I can't talk about party members just now.
>The real question is whether 5e can be reasonably adapted to a video game, and the fact that no one has tried until now is an indicator of how challenging that is.
I can't imagine it being that hard. 5e took all the zillion status effects/variables/conditions in 3.5 and basically boiled it down to "you do/don't have advantage on x/y/z" and called it a day.
Just use EE/Shadow/SwordcoastKeeper to hack items in and change stats.
People bitched about the save or suck spells, so they took up out. Now it's just suck and suck. Everyone just throws different colors of the same vanilla paste now.
Plebs will never understand the value of imbalance. It gives games charm.
THAC0 isn't even an issue anymore, the current system of ab vs ac is far easier.
I wasn't expecting them to go 2e but I certainly thought they'd try a faithful implementation of current rules akin to Kingmaker with PF.
Actually, I didn't, which is why I already knew it was going to be dead the moment Larian announced it was under their care. They have zero experience making actual cRPGs based on tabletop.
Oh no what will the orcs do if they catch whiff of her
Ah AYM the LAWW!
>problematic
What does this mean? I don't speak Hebrew.
Yes, and people who quicksaveload to get decent rolls are ruining the game for themselves. One of my personal biggest complaints about XCOM is that it should be designed in such a way that iron man mode is required, or at least the default experience.
The easiest way to make this work is to adapt 4e's mechanics. They're terrible for tabletop but almost completely streamlined for video games. And don't limit the races to PHB, I want to be a motherfucking bugbear.
Want to replay the games. Was the mage slayer still a shit class?
>cheating
That belt is so sick. I grinded it out for days with my guild and finally scratched off the winning lottery ticket, now i'm +2% more effective at grinding for a couple more levels!
Heya
Looking at the anatomy here hurts my brains.
I seriously doubt they won't make a BG game that doesn't have the tabletop rules. It would be ridiculous
Hype level reduced to zero, well at least now I can't be disappointed
Stop user, I can only get so hard
no it was overpowered (and fun) as fuck
It's Larian.
I doubt it will even have classes because muh streamlining, too complex for zoomzoom!
Fags were already crying because Kingmaker had base classes, kits and prcs.
I'm playing through BG1 EE for the first time. I never played the originals. I'm surprised how well they aged. The only thing I dislike is when my party gets confused or whatever and run around like idiots while getting picked off.
Anyway how does the "create full party" thing work exactly? I plan on doing that on my next playthrough. How does that work with the members you pick up in the campaign?
guess you wont be playing it lmao
RTWP is literally just "turn based combat except you pause and unpause every fifth of a second to micro manage turns".
I've beaten Superhuman Ironman X-COM and I had much more fun when I wasn't playing Ironman.
Is old D&D kino art gone forever bois?
it kinda isn't tho
yes, and that's a good thing. it's sexist as fuck.
RTWP: Making /tg/ cry since 1998.
>“We started with a very rigorous port of the ruleset. Then we started looking at what worked and what didn’t work. Because obviously, it’s a video game, so not everything translates very well. We modified where it made sense to start modifying,” Vincke said.
>venturebeat.com
They are gonna change the rule system, which was perfectly fine, according to what they think is """""RIGHT""""". Probably to suit casuals. This game is dead on abortion, it's going to be shit and I won't fucking play it even for free, god forbid paying a single dime for it. I hope whoever thought it was a good thing to shit on this series memory dies of cancer.
Most RTwP game also have random encounters for filler/padding, while a turn based game like OS1/2 don't have any random encounters because fights take way fucking longer
Yes it is.
See if you can find a PDF (or buy) Art and Arcana if you want a really nice collection of the classic stuff though. I fucking love thata book.
Pls no bully, but what does 5e mean? I guess it means fifth edition of D+D but I don't get what that means.
Gone in the wind, just like Jim Hensons puppetry and clay animation.
I'm afraid so. The old artists are all in their 70s and 80s now.
What, you mean with something like tabletop simulator?
>mod npcs
>no tashia
Confirmed for absolute shit portrait pack.
5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons. Each edition is new rules for the game.
>waaahh waaaaahh
It means there are multiple editions, and this would be the 5th one.
>took 5 of you fags to kill me
She doesn’t die though
El Puente de Baldur
El Portal de Baldur
La Puerta de Baldur
o el Portón de Baldur?
It is, the only difference is your "turns" are defined by when your animations end, and because those are nondefined you're forced to fish for the endpoints by pausing and unpausing constantly. This is only exacerbated by the fact that you party acts simultaneously, meaning you need to do this for multiple people at once. It's a bad system, and theres a reason it fell out of favor.
Release date fucking wen?
You create another characters besides your main. No dialogue, quest of personalities. You can create a full party or just 1/2/3/4/5 and add normal npc along the way.
Wizards in old art always look like the most smug motherfuckers
2020
I don't play XCOM on iron man because I don't think the mechanics are competent enough to allow for that sort of restriction. If the game gave the player more information, such as things like enemy movement range and clearer line of sight calculation, I think it could be viable. I agree current XCOM would be terrible for a required iron man mode, but the best XCOM experience would require iron man mode with mechanics that made you really feel responsible for every decision you made. The game currently cannot deliver this. Playing with save scumming enabled ruins the experience in the opposite direction.
La puerta de Baldur.
>pausing every fifth of a second
>not playing a full caster party, real-time, without pause
Do you know how can I tell you're a basic scrub?
>Larian bends the rules slightly to make D&D better fit a videogame
>This is bad
>BG1/2 bend the rules heavily and make the game RtWP instead of Turn Based like normal D&D
>This is fine
???
puente means bridge
Portón is the most accurate one, but puerta and porta are also acceptable.
Well, if you manage to become a 5th+ level wizard in 1E and 2E you deserve to be a smug motherfucker.
>saving a Mindflayer stuck in a nightmare being chased by Gishes.
Does that even register on the radar for a Mindflayer as a debt towards the savior? Wouldn't it be much like a Skaven just stab you in the back at first opportunity after professing some crocodile-tears like bs due to being disadvantaged?
>Plays full caster party
>Calls others scrubs
But that's so far into the fut-
>2020 is 6 months away
fuck
It shouldn't have taken 5 max. level adventurers to slay one tiny green winged lizard.
>Saitama.
What a surprise.
>another campaign against the hordes of the underdark
can the underniggers stay in their fucking caves and do not disturb the civilized surface world?
>but the best XCOM experience would require iron man mode
Fuck no it wouldn't.
the snail attacks again
I also don't get it, it's a city so I guess "Portón" o "Puerta" could be correct. For spanish/latino /tg/ anons, is there an official translation for the name of that city?
>This is only exacerbated by the fact that you party acts simultaneously
So it is, but actually isn't?
right. it's turn-based except the turns happen dozens times times per second of 'in-game' time instead of once every few seconds.
reason it fell out of favour is
a) people making these games now are idiots who simply copy archaic designs from 20 years ago instead of innovating, and
b) only old people play these games now and old people's brain and bodies are slow and lazy and can't keep up with RTwP
instead, they'd rather sit through 5 minutes of END TURN to kill one enemy that's running away from them and that would've taken seconds in RTwP
games like e.g. Aarklash: Legacy prove that you can do RTwP just fine and have it not be shitty or frustrating like it in retrospect now feels in the old IEE games and the modern games like PoE that dogmatically copy them, you just have to have non-retarded designers involved
Not quite. RTWP is made with AI scripts in mind. You're expected to let most of your party fight by themselves while you just control your PC, occasionally taking direct control in an emergency.
Basically, RTWP is the casualised version of turn-based. Imagine if you had to wait while the AI took all of your party members turns for you. It would take forever. This is just it sped up for the attention-deficient.
>forced to fish for the endpoints by pausing and unpausing constantly
jesus... you just awful at this game
>spells are always completely overpowered
that's mages in general tho
One of D&D 5E's official campaigns has the players go into the underdark where shit's fucked.
Speaking of old fantasy art...I still haven't figured out what the hell is going on in this M&M 6 piece. Are there 2 teams? 3? Is it a death match with a dragon?
Why do the complaints always boil down to /pol/ shit for you retards? Get back to your containment board.
Is anyone surprised younger people don't know games that were out before they were born? The posts that go "wew get out zoomer!" for not knowing this and that doesn't really feel justified in any way.
have sex
>OS1&2
>anywhere near the complexity and build depth of NWN1&2, Kingmaker
The Dragon's perspective is wrong, he is clearly meant to be above the corpse, in front of the three characters to the right who are aiming at the dragon
Iron man mode with mechanics that didn't fuck you over and allowed you to own every decision you made such that the only potential failure was due to your own incompetence. Yes, this is the ideal XCOM. Into the Breach has this on a very small scale, where you reset after one failure. It feels absolutely fucking amazing from a mental strategy angle. XCOM would benefit from a revision to player communication and a removal of save scumming.
>Can't prove him wrong
cringe
They're all fighting the dragon. The artist was just terrible at perspective.
>can't stomach real time combat
>has to pause 10 times a second
Maybe you should watch a flick and rewind every now and then to catch up with what is going on :^)
>And why call it Baldur's Gate, when the story has nothing to do with Bhaal?
Marketing, you stupid retard.
None of my complaints have anything to do with /pol/. What the fuck is wrong with you?
Looks like the plainest possible interpretation of an adventuring team in mid-fight with a dragon. Its lair on the left and the town/castle which have been plagued by it on the right.
I can't wait for the inevitable
>Larian buffs Martials so they aren't worthless dogshit and purists piss their pants over it because that's somehow a bad thing
Ye the dragon is supposed to be in the middle of them after killing thte guy, the perspective is off obviously.
We need the good races to go full Hitler on their asses and exterminate them once and for all. And not just kill them, but punish them. They deserve to be tortured and broken before allowed to die, like the Nazis did to undesirables.
>Can't stomach real time combat
>So he plays a genre with a safety net for whenever his brain overheats
Keep up, gramps
He's probably a schizo.
ay yo he dabbin
You're literally retarded if you think divinity gameplay is bad. Their setting is pretty weak but more importantly their story telling and character design has been weak. But only a brainlet or someone who hates Isometric RPGs would say their gameplay sucks.
youtube.com
Would you have played it?
Would it have introduced BG to a wider audience?
Martials will be fine in BG3.
Martials in combat are not that bad in 5E. It's the out of combat situation that is hopeless.
But video games do not allow thinking out of the box, so the weird things you can do with spells may not be entirely allowed.
Martials also benefit greatly from magic items, and video games tend to drown characters in magic gear from the start.
>NW2
>Complex
xaxaxaxaxaaxaxaxaxaxxaax
There is no need to proof anything, your posts show exactly what you are.
>cringe
Nice try. And stay cucked.
I reiterate: fuck no it wouldn't and I wouldn't play it. I beat the original game on Ironman on the hardest difficulty. I came close to beating newCOM on Ironman but got fucked over by the teleporting Sectopod bug causing unavoidable squad wipes repeatedly. At no point after either of those have I ever felt like the game would be improved playing on Ironman and I never will.
>STILL can't prove him wrong
yikes
oh, I get it now. the dragon isn't enormous and standing standing by the mountain, but is relatively small and on a smaller mound right in front of the fallen warrior
if the horsedude's spear had just gone behind the dragon slightly it'd have been very clear. instead, on first glance, it looks like the horsedude's closer than the dragon is
>mfw i'm not beamdog
>... and that's a good thing
I'd argue the Dark Alliance games did a better job at bringing BG to a console audience.
The game is easy, that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of choices to build your character.
You're the only faggot in this whole thread discussing the game that said anything about /pol/ shit. You're the true cancerous one
>yikes
Again, nice try. And again, there is no need to "forced to fish for the endpoints by pausing and unpausing constantly" so, you are just a pathetic player. Stay cucked.
>play newfangled d&d 5e with my niece and her zoomer friends
>make a hulking ass fighting man
>str 18
>roll 93 on percentile since I’m a warrior class
>nobody knows why I rolled percentile for strength
>check phb
>there’s no mention of percentile str
>whatever
>get started with campaign
>nieces friend who is GM’ing is apparently Todd Howard because I start in a prison cell
>decide to break out of jail because I’m ripped as fuck fighter
>roll my bend bars lift gates
>roll really well, surely have succeeded
>”strength rolls are done on a d20” Todd tells me
>look back at character sheet
>bend bars/lift gates isn’t a thing
>roll str
>it’s a 1
>start cheering
>everybody looks at me confused
>niece has her head in her hands out of embarrassment
>Todd tells me that was a critical failure and I injured my arm in the process
There is literally no way that a game based on 5e could ever possibly be good, and you are all idiots for having any hope for this dumpster fire of a game. It has been dumbed down beyond recognition and bears no resemblance to the thing I cherished from my childhood, a fate certain to be replicated in this abortion of a sequel.
what is he supposed to prove dude? that you don't HAVE to do a thing you don't HAVE to do? may as well ask him to prove that water is wet
I'm starting to feel bad for these guys. I know they're useless, but still.
Fishing for end points is objectively stronger that whatever you're doing, sorry sweety
Maybe one day you'll be good enough to optimize your turns
Yeah, they'll be fine having their damage drop like a rock from BG1/BG2 standards while monster HP gets the full Dobson treatment and even when it doesn't martials suck shit at clearing out a horde of goblins or some other scrub shit, which are now threatening at the vast majority of level ranges as opposed to threatening until you pick up a suit of full plate. Fuck you.
Beamdog are the true successors to black isle. Theyll get the IP back once this fails miserably.
You're all in a place petitioning epic level daemons. Given the Mindflayer likely would wish to retain their services starting shit in their chamber is probably not the best move.
most memorable part of that game is unironically the tits
the drow tits were pretty great too
This is the most boomer thing I have read in a while.
And I have played AD&D in my childhood.
>bend bars/lift gates
lmao gramps
you have strenght 18. should the add your modifier instead of it being a critical failure?
>needs a game to be synchronous with his latent brain activity
Don't get too overworked, you might forget to keep your sphincter shut.
>wanna look at my titties?
Oh boy, I'm sure they won't fuck this up.
This game existed too
>Kingmaker
>complex
>''I want CRPG parity, all games must play the same''
numenera, diablo 3, wasteland 3.
please tell me it s not real
RAW doesn't have critical failures. So yeah he adds his modifier which is +4.
ITT:
>It won't have X mechanic, so it's bad
based boomers always uncapable of accepting anything new on the sole rationale that it's new
>will Larian deliver?
They will.
Based Snowblind Studios. The women in their games were always stacked.
>was this series always as eldrich as 3 is looking like?
Mindflayers were always that eldritch, and they are a staple big bad of DnD.
True. Demon Stone is also a Forgotten Realms game.
>sweety
You just keep showing what you are.
>Fishing for end points is objectively stronger that whatever you're doing
Oh wait... that's your argument now? At first it was "you're forced to" and now is "objectively stronger" just to maximize efficiency?. Because sorry to say but, again, there is no reason to do that "pausing and unpausing constantly" and, again, there is no "forcing". You can actually play and finish the game without doing that. Pretending that it was some sort of requirement only show the type of player you are
Have dilatation
Agreed friend
I think we can all agree the characters and story is weak. But the combat is amazing fuck off.
>But the combat is amazing fuck off.
the combat is objectively inferior to the first game's
This game was great, very fond of the 4 player co-op
If you aren't playing in the most efficient way possible you're objectively a trash player, sorry sweaty, thats just how things work. Maybe real time is more your speed, less things to think about.
>kingmaker
>not literally the cRPG with biggest amount of build choice without mods
Was it always like this?
I thought, at least, in earlier editions the tadpoles (that survived) climbed out of the brain pool as youth (or it just wasn't elaborated upon) or something.
Real time will always be far harder than turn based.
I guess that the best you can do now while trying to reflect what you really are. Also, better luck next time pretending to be not the same guy.
nope that's just the most autistic way to play.
Both tits and water physics. I miss Snowblind. Used to play each of their games with my friend during our summer break back in high school at his family cabin. Those were the days.
youtube.com
Ah I should've know, explains why you can't understand advanced concepts.
Trap options are not real choices.
