Game of the Generation
Game of the Generation
Pretty much yes
NOOOOOOOOOOOO THIS GAME SUCKS
Here you go, everybody can go home now
Uh, that's gonna be a based from me
>set difficulty to the highest level
>turn off the music
>skip all of the cutscenes
then it's good.
OP is pretty based today.
totally right
wrong pic i meant to post bloodborne
yes
what other game gets goty awards two years in a row?
wish we would get more games in the witcher universe
Sorry, wrong pic again
not even game of the month when it released kek. it's a 6/10 at best
>set difficulty to the highest level
Okay yes of course
>turn off the music
Wait no what the fuck are you-
>skip all of the cutscenes
Just play fucking DMC or Souls
The trifecta of overrated garbage
>terrible combat
>worst horse controls ever
>boring story where you just look for one person
t. nincel locked in a copecapsule since 2015.
It's fucking trash
SEETHING Bloodbourne fag
that's not Kat's game.
I feel like I should theoretically love this game, but the combat is so fucking bad and I cannot do the bloody baron quest i killed by the banshee thing every fucking time fuck this shit
Cope.
Maybe if you're a retarded zoomer with garbage taste in games
>Caring about paid awards
Yep, that's gonna be a yikes from me, dawg
Yeah
its better than caring about some seething anonmyous on an image board.
>This game is good
>No it's trash
>Cope
>Seethe
>ad infinitum
There, I summed up the thread for you
holy fuck just checked steam and its still that high
is this the highest rated game on steam?
because im polish i get strange looks when i tell people i dont like this game
Fallout 4 wtf
>is this the highest rated game on steam?
No. Curiously enough the highest rate game on steam is - or at least was last time I checked, Factorio.
Yeah but the highest rated Game/DLC on Steam is W3 Blood and Wine.
Indeed
I wanted to say Factorio too but nope, I bet it's close second though
Refunded after half an hour. Game of the year my ass.
3rd after Portal 2 and Factorio.
The generation isn't over. Cyberpunk 2077 could dethrone it and i'd like to say that Divinity:Original Sin 2 should be sharing the throne.
>Euro Truck 2 in top 10
Pretty based to be honest
Funny, 2 on the top 10 are niche-market Czech games.
I am fine with this
I prefer 2.
RE2 remake was more fun desu. Quality > quantity
OP you posted the wrong image that should be Kingdom Come up there.
Nothing is comfier than Witchering around in the woods with your daughteru using companion mods.
Heart of Stone should have been Geralt taking Ciri under his wing and them witchering together.
Sup dudes, I have some extra money this week to spend on a game. I've been avoiding this because it looks like your typical overrated AAA casualbait, but you guys keep making these threads, so should I give it a go?
For reference, I didn't like Skyrim.
Wait for sale you can get the GOTY edition for like 10-20 dollars.
so did you play it?
k i'll just buy groceries then

Your only argument is that "journalists" liked it? Aren't they the same people who bitched that Sekiro should have an easy mode? Lmao
Gaming "journalists" hate video games. Good rule of thumb is to listen to what they say, and believe the opposite of it.
>so should I give it a go?
Yes, it's probably the best gaming experience you will have.
I personally liked Skyrim though.
Not with those clunky controls.
Why wouldn't you have just pirated it by now? It's an ok game that's it. You'll enjoy some bits but other bits will drag on so it's just overall ok.
I've literally never seen anyone praise the actual gameplay of this game.
I'd be enjoying it more if it wasn't choppy, mostly noticeable when I move the camera.
>Spent ages the other day trying to get it be smooth
>Try changing settings and some other shit
>No dice
I don't fucking get it. An RX480, i5 4690K and 16GB ram should be able to play this just fine.
Pirating is against the law
That’s what you get with amd
Some people actually like good stories and well-done cinematography. Not everything has to be this obscure story that doesn't make sense like Dark Souls.
>Kingdom Come
Kingdom Come is good, but feels small, cheap and short compared to TW3.
Honestly the DLC is better than the base game. So you have to complete the 40 hours base game worth to enjoy the best part.
Open world environment is honestly the star of the game. It is pretty comfy and still looks nice if you have the rig for it. Gameplay is below mediocre, and exploration is not very useful because gear scale with your level. So the optimum way once you figure out the scaling is to not loot anything in the open world until you're at level cap otherwise you will just pick some trash gear that will become obselete pretty quick.
The game is a technical masterpiece despite the obvious graphics downgrade and bullshot marketing, but level scaling, gameplay, narrative structure can do better.
lol faggot
yeah you should.
see you in jail bro
The gameplay is nice. I like reading the bestiary and planning ahead of the fight, even though it doesn't really make much of a difference.
Why not watch a movie or read a book at that point? If the gameplay sucks it's not a good game.
hes right you know
It’s mor a game about preparation and preparing for fights. I mean yeah people won’t praise the movement directly but they will probably praise stuff like making alchemy and bombs
Turn off hairworks, put shadows to medium and foliage distance to high. Main offender is foliage distance.
>Why not watch a movie or read a book at that point?
The narrative is only good as a game medium. Pic related sums out the Witcher game. It is incredibly frustrating if you watch the story unfold 1-1 in movie/passive medium
In a movie or book you can't stop to move the camera around and look at the gorgeous open world
There’s something hypnotic about just walking around the world. I can’t really explain it. But it’s just fun to play.
>otherwise you will just pick some trash gear that will become obsolete pretty quick.
I got that walk on water monk sword too early :-(
>but they will probably praise stuff like making alchemy and bombs
Honestly this feels even more braindead in 3. In 1 at least you need to find the ingredients and brew the consumable potions. In 3 potions regenerate after you meditate once you find the recipe, so you just equip whatever suggested and plow through the monster
>but they will probably praise stuff like making alchemy and bombs
I always wondered why the Atelier/Witcher colab when? It worked for Monster Hunter
You don’t have to beat the base game. You can start the DLC immediately. At least on GOTY edition
Why because there aren't constant mini quests telling you to take out groups of drowners? Wait you weren't one of those fags who missed out on the entire story and still wanted the sword back right? Geralt and his whores don't come close to the emotional wave in Kingdom Come.
Already tried it. Had everything set to low but it's still not smooth.
I'll just try fucking with it again later.
"Bad" games can still be fun and entertaining, same thing applies to movies and books
Help me out here, Yea Forums.
I bough the Game of the Year edition of W3 on GoG a little while back. I haven't played the game yet, but I assumed it included all the DLC.
Today I realized that might not be the case. Can anyone confirm this for me, and if so what's the DLC I need to buy to get the whole thing?
Its ok but nowhere near GOTG.
The gameplay is honestly terrible and the story is rather bland. The DLC's are fine though.
Witcher fanboys are the worst fanboys after undertale fanboys
Yes but if you care a smidgen about story, it made no sense that you're trying to find Ciri but had this whole detour to Southern France for reasons. Also doing DLC would make the main story obselete level wise because if you take quests that is 5 levels lower you barely get any experience
>obscure story doesn't make sense like dark souls
Yeah I hate it when stories aren't just put in front of me like a children's book or like the Witcher. I really like those moments when they pause the story to sum up what's happening because usually I'm lost.
In open world games, I’m honestly not looking for typically “good” gameplay. If I want great action I’ll play DMC or Dark Souls. If I want great challenge while navigating I’ll play a platformer. The main appeal for open world games for me is just playing through the nice world and being immersed in it. I don’t really understand this notion that every game has to have such complex, impressive gameplay. There are a lot of other games for that.
wheres that greentext its the greatest thing Yea Forums's done in year
Thats a movie not a game, Mr Cuky
Unironically this, don't like wasting my time on some pseud shit because the developers think they're deep or are actually so fucking lazy at story telling that they try to mask it with "muh obscure story"
Hands down
Christ, just kill yourself, being a boring faggot with dogshit taste and no talents to speak off you might as well already be dead.
Why has there been an increase in Witcher 3 bait threads recently?
>Game of the Year Edition
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition brings together the base game and all the additional content released to date.
- Includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine expansions, which offer a massive 50 hours of additional storytelling as well as new features and new areas that expand the explorable world by over a third!
You've got pretty much everything. Make sure you're running the latest patch and if you really want to there are some cool visual mods that are appropriate for a first run.
There are also complete gameplay overhaul mods that make the combat a lot deeper and completely remove levelling(so only equipment, preparation, and skill matter), but you might want to save those for a 2nd run or at least after you've beaten the tutorial area and have an idea whether you like the base gameplay or not.
Summer time means increase in nigs who play AAA garbage
>some pseud shit because the developers think they're deep or are actually so fucking lazy at story telling that they try to mask it with "muh obscure story"
I get that reading item descriptions was really difficult but it's not like hideo's new trash with walking dead man. There is a very direct story there but it's told in pieces rather than one character explaining everything. I'm just surprised, most people have a grasp on the story by now.
I can't get into this game idk what it is
Because it's an easy way to get (You)'s
>I don’t really understand this notion that every game has to have such complex, impressive gameplay
>video game but it's okay if the game part is shit
Every game can benefit from DMC gameplay. Witcher 3 has nice open world, but combat ain't DMC. BOTW has nice open world, physics and puzzle, but combat ain't DMC. nuGod of War has nice story and beautiful graphics, but combat ain't DMC. Dark Souls has interesting footsie based gameplay, interesting lore, interconnected worlds, but combat ain't DMC.
There is no reason to bin DMC, Bayo and Ninja Gaiden as special class of game. They're just action game with top shelf gameplay. Any other game that involves 3rd person melee attacks, from AssCreed, Zelda, Witcher, or whatever should take note.
I beat this game three times. I love every fucking aspect of it.
But amount of bugs, crashes and other silly stuff with animation does not make it 10/10.
Sorry. It was a great game but not a GoTG.
Btw. DLC's make it a 9+/10.
haha yeah thanks for the response, but you forgot to give me a (You) lol haha can you do that???
But in games like DMC or Bayonetta you are some super amazing action hero. It wouldn’t really make sense in the context of a roleplaying open world.
Actually I did, probably copy pasting your post somewhere. That post was meant for you, now that it's clarified you can respond properly. This really is a great example of how you need everything spelled out for you.
OMG GERALT IS SO COOL WOW I CAN RELATE TO HIM SOOO MUCH GAME OF THE DECADE!!!!!!
thanks bro
Thanks man, I was confused cause the game description on my library doesn't say anything about it, but the store description does. I loved TW1 and 2, it's a pretty safe bet I'll love 3 but I haven't had the chance to play it yet.
I CLAPPED WHEN HE FUCKED THE LADY BASED POWERFUL WOMEN
>want to make fun of faggot kids for thinking edgy Witcherman is cool
>realize I was the same with Snake from MGS when I was a kid
Just let it be man. Let people be happy
Some of you faggots try way too hard.
>*Plays like a retard* see how bad the combat is.
Ryu Hayabusa is not, he's just a normal human with fictional ninja skills. Gene from Godhand is just a goofball martial artist. Even Nioh guy is just a regular samurai with in universe animal stand power. Geralt is practically a medieval Jedi, superhuman reflex, force powers, jedi mind trick power. Why can't he do things that characters in "cuhracter action" genre can't?
I don't think DMC is a good point of comparison for very long open-world RPGs because their core engagement comes from storytelling and abnegation.
Combat is the absolute core of DMC. Combat is kinda "filler" in TW3. It's there to give context to the plot and to "reward" you for levelling up and getting good gear.
I'm not saying that a shallow "press dodge, press light attack, queue up quen" system or something similar is the best but something closer to a more traditional hack-and-slash with good hitstop and generally good ~feel~ but not too complex would be better. Think Darksiders 2 rather than DMC. Ideally you'd also be able to accommodate all the various builds through skill trees and special gear bonuses so loadout variety is more important than just pure mechanical depth like DMC.
And some of you ((You) especially) are just faggots
Tranny
It does. The missions to start them are on some of the noticeboards. Hearts of Stone is pinned up on one just outside of Novigrad if I remember right.
Personally I don't think a loot based gear system is appropriate for Witcher, just like how nuGOW arpg element is not appropriate. The swords practically look all the same, why is this sword so much stronger than others? Why is the starting Kaer Morhen armor so much weaker than gambeson or hunting boots from some random jabronies? Same deal with Kratos, oh wow you put on some different shoulder pads, now you can tank more hits.
Geralt and Kratos is a character in character action game. They're already an established character before the start of the game, so arpg progression is not appropriate and I think DMC/Bayo/NG like progression, unlocking new moves and skills would be more appropriate for established characters like Geralt and Kratos.
The map in KCD is smaller and there are less things to do. I like KCD a lot, but it is a 30 hour game. The Witcher 3 is a 200 hour game.
Sorry OP, I vouch GOTG to Prey or Bloodborne.
>Bloodborne
Overrated. It was a good proto-DS3, that's about it.
No its cringey for older men to be this into a video game character
you sound upset
Yes killing hundreds of drowners really made me love those additional 120 hours. Also KCD is at least a 60 hour game. Saying there's less things to do tells me you didn't really play the game because there's no way in hell anybody could try and say there's more things to do in Witcher than in Kingdom. Are you saying there's more side quests? I don't count "oy witcha cunt go kill us some drowners" as a quest.
Well, if you look at it from a character perspective, sure. But the Witcher games were always RPGs because CDPR were big fans of classic cRPGs and you can squeeze a lot more hours out of an RPG-style level and loot progression system than a DMC style "unlock moves" system. It's much easier to make a sword with +20 damage, +12% bleed, and a crit damage bonus and then make 30 more variations than it is to design completely new moves.
As story-based games are traditionally rather long they also often use the type of gameplay that works best as filler.
Then again stuff like the Enhanced Edition mod which includes absolutely no leveling mechanics and much more skill-based combat proves that TW3 can totally work with that type of system.
The Combat in EE is also more focused on distance, timing, and precisely aiming your sword blows(you can even curve them around guards if you're fast with your mouse) rather than DMC which is combo-oriented and requires high manual dexterity.
why is portal so highly rated? most people got it for free and its like 2 hours long with no replay value
Witcher 3 fans are probably very young. It's the older people who are more jaded because they've seen this kind of game multiple times and aren't impressed by pretty graphics.
>DaS3
It was a shitty Bloodborne spinoff. A downgrade.
>Appealing to popularity contests
That's what the sheep do. Me, heh... I'm not one of those sheep.
Cope harder, 3cuck.
>according to him ds2 was the best
Oh I'd be laughing if it wasn't so insulting.
Is nu-Prey really that good? Looks like a shitty bioshock clone
There are seriously not enough enemies in KCD. After the 3rd day I had cleaned up the map of all the bad guys.
When i played this game i feel like people played other game, why is so praised? just for the story? guess gaming is not your thing if you praise this games only for the one thing you can enjoy easily in other media
It's more akin to System Shock 2 actually. It's very good.
Popular opinion is always wrong, without exception, because the vast majority of "people" are mindless fucking animals.
You are with the same kind of "people" who always have to watch the latest capeshit hollywood garbage, listen to black guy fast-talk "music," and line up every day to buy mcdonald's.
Just mindless consumer animals, eating up garbage. This is nothing new.
At the highest difficulty, the combat is alright.
The only problem I have with the gameplay is the god-awful "Witcher Senses" gimmick.
>Go to point A
>Hold RMB and follow some red footsteps until you reach point B
>Fight enemy
>Rinse and repeat
>not enough mindless bad guys for me to fight
You're a zoomer right? You love Skyrim right? Don't play games like Kingdom they aren't made for you, your bad advice can only hurt the game.
I liked SS2 the most out of the shock games but it never really got a good sequel, maybe I'll give Prey a try
based
It was the Bioshock 3 we should've had.
You brought up a good comparison in Darksiders 2. I'll also include Nioh, Nier automata, and KH2FM as arpg with decent gameplay variety as opossed to gear scaling. Yes you got new shiny sword that does big numbers, yes you got new skill that increase adrenaline point gain by +1%. Do you play any differently? Nope, the human enemies scale with you, so they tank more damage. Essentially it is a boring moment to moment gameplay, and this is coming from a person who love the lore and story of Witcher universe. Hitboxes are jank and gameplay is below mediocre.
That's bloosborne you faggot
...
...
...
Imagine being a 3cuck. It's the worst game in the series. Can't even hold a candle to DaS2, let alone BB. Cry more, it's nostalgia bait and feels like a shitty Bloodborne fanfic.
Nice bandwagon opinion, reddit. You are a dumb animal. Completely incapable of original thought. People like me will always rule over subhumans like you. Get it through your thick skull into your sorry excuse for a game. I FUCKING OWN YOU. Got it?
It's an overhyped shit.
Prove it, smart ass. Everyone's wrong and you're right, is that how it is?
>everyones wrong
No I agree with him that makes us 2 and you one. You prove that it isn't shit.
joost a shit
Samefag
Loved W3, loved BB, absolutely hated BotW.
It includes everything.
