Well, U4 and Gears 4 are both 2016, but I find the overall attention to detail and texturing/materials far superior in U4. From my point of view, most Sony exclusives seem to be of higher quality this gen.

Forza definitely looks very good, but alot of it has to do with the fact that it is a racing game. Even on the Xbox X, pop in is quite noticeable, but the games do a great job at LOD management. Racing games are also much more static (barely anything is movable save for some trees, fences, clutter, and signs) and do not require performance heavy alpha effects like explosions, particles, and so on. Attention to detail is also lacking as you are always a big object that can't really get up close to examine something.

Forza screenshots are also deceptive, as they utilize a non realtime renderer to generate screenshots by cranking up the resolution and all of the other effects as high as they can go.

Gears 4 was alright. The core gameplay is still great. Sucks that the multiplayer was riddled with lootbox aids, and the story couldn't find a compelling way to make us care about anything. When compared to what 343 did to Halo, Gears is in a much better place.

The wood stock on the Gears 4 Lancer was actually pretty rad looking. I appreciated carrying it throughout the entire campaign gave you an achievement.

I think the stock takes away from the uniqueness, but it is not the biggest blunder of the new lancer. For one, look at the handguard angle, how the fuck are you supposed to hold that comfortably?!?!? The angled mag well makes no sense either and makes it just look like one of those kids toys with messed up proportions. The position of the ejector also makes no sense on the new one, how is it so far behind the action?

Why is the video game industry specifically so lenient in getting weird trannies that tear their brand down? Every other industry wouldn't even allow these people to bust into entry level roles, let alone senior level and management.
