I need to decide between one of these two titles, which one should i buy? can you give a recommendation?
I need to decide between one of these two titles, which one should i buy? can you give a recommendation?
left, not even a choice
One has Kirby, the other does not. Is this really a difficult decision?
Pokemon is almost always worth the value.
But, one of them isn't out for half a year
We still have very little information about Sword and Shield, so the game might be unsatisfying, and Kirby is already out.
Buy Kirby
OR
Try Sword and Shield at E3 if you're there by any chance
OR
Fucking wait
not a factor
so the other then
Let me ask my future self from the end of the year if Sword and Shield are good, I'll get back to you.
kirby is complete derivative shit for toddlers, at least the new pokemon is trying some different things
We don’t know if Pokémon will be good or not yet while Star Allies is one of the worst in its series.
One has less than 10 hours of content, the other has more than 10 hours of content
Kirby because it's good and you should never, ever trust GameFreak to make a good product.
>while Star Allies is one of the worst in its series
gonna be a yikes from me, it's easily mid-high tier and the co-op is sublime.
we will have giant pokmon
t. seething kirbyfag infant
It's very much a factor because there is no way you can only choose to buy one of them, buy Kirby now and buy Pokémon when it comes out, and play a shitload of games in between too
is it really that bad? it seems comfy
Star Allies is worth it for coop alone.
Both games are excellent if you think their respective game devs can do no wrong.
was bad at launch, all the free DLC makes it great
Compared to other kirby games, star allies lack challenge and feels pretty soulless desu
Are you a kirbyfag? get star allies
Are you not a kirbyfag? get pokemon
Kirby. Pokemon Sword and Shield will most likely fall to the same formula of gen 6 and 7 where it's a game for babbies even if it tries not to.
>it's easily mid-high tier
Not with that awful campaign it isn’t. And no, playing that same awful campaign over and over again with recolored bosses and new characters doesn’t fix it. If the foundation sucks, everything else just topples over with it. The DLC characters would be great in just about any other Kirby game and it feels like they’re a waste in this one. Co-op is part of the reason feels so empty too.
Both are shit, play Mario or Zelda instead
We don't know much about Sword/Shield, but I was really disappointed with the 3DS Pokemon games. If you felt the same, then pass. Wait a year for them to announce the third version. You know they're gonna do that again.
Kirby is fine if you manage to find it at a discount and have someone to play co-op with. The main story is pretty bad, but the post-game stuff is great.
People will tell you the DLC fixed it but in reality it just puts a band-aid on a flesh wound, it can’t fix the base game. The fact of the matter is there isn’t much to DO with the new characters they added, because the game was almost definitely rushed by Nintendo to fluff up the library for Spring 2018, and the result was a very half baked Kirby game with a lot of ideas that never reach their full potential or in a lot of cases any potential. Play Robobot instead if you want a good Kirby, it’s one of the best in the series.
POKEMON
Kirby Star Allies was a broken, unfinished mess upon release. They needed patches and DLC to make the game serviceable. Only buy that game used, don't support HAL rushing out unfinished game.
If you're a fan of Kirby, Star Allies. Campaign is ridiculously easy but the post-game has a lot of meat to it after all the free updates, and it controls great.
If you're not a fan of Kirby, look up footage of SA and see if you think it looks good. If you have somebody that isn't very good at games that wants to play something with you, it's a decent game to play with them since the story simple and easy.
Don't get Pokemon.
Neither
Both will give you buyer remorse. You've been warned.
I’m convinced it was Nintendo pressuring them to rush the game out. I’m not saying you should buy the game, it isn’t very good, but it was a very out of character move on their part.
Even as a Kirby fan, Star Allies is hard to recommend despite all the updates. It's short, it's easy, it's derivative, the core gimmick isn't very entertaining, and the "meat" of the game for Kirby fans is the ability to replay truncated versions of the main campaign again with any character, not something that would appeal to your average joe.
The Kumazaki interviews where he talks about getting the motivation to put out all the free content probably supports this. Him and the team probably didn't like that they rushed what was essentially Kirby's big anniversary game.
Star Allies is fucking trash. If you have a 3DS just play those Kirby games.
This, HAL Labs will just do whatever Nintendo says, even if it's not a good idea, and they probably listen to nintendo to rush the game
That’s what makes me furious because the game has so much untapped potential. There was obviously a lot of love put into it without nearly enough time. The fact that you’re kicked off of Popstar by the third world sounds like such a cool idea but in reality there’s only four worlds in total, with the final levels left as what was once definitely meant to be an entire world as two smallish levels. Not to mention the 4th world is just recolored levels from the 2nd one to save even more time. I’m hoping we don’t see Kirby until next E3 at the very least. Let the next one cook in the oven for a while.
Star Allies is actually out and Pokémon won't be out for months yet, how is this even a dilemma?
Kirby is just Kirby, Pokémon will just be Pokémon, you should know all you need about which one is for you on that alone, especially since they aren't even the same Genres.
I have a feeling Star Allies will get hoisted with a eventual NINTENDO SELECT "sale" though and get like 20$ cheaper if you hold off until the next bug Sales event.
I fucking hope they do the Selects thing for Switch. There's some games that I'd rather get for $40 than $60 even if I have to wait, but Nintendo first party titles almost never get discounted. It's weird that they let Ubisoft put Mario + Rabbids on such deep sales so often.
