Tressa is cute and innocent and funny so I might start with her.
Also please post some Tressa

crack when?

>$60 for a console port that looks like it was made 20 years ago
Meh. I'll wait until it's on sale for like $10.

not anytime soon, denuvo is kicking ass lately

or you could just pirate it once it gets cracked.

I just tried to click on the first preview image in OP haha holy shit

Attached: DhsvozqVAAAOJxr.png (399x493, 250K)

once you get the 4 divine sub classes in mid game the game is easy as shit. the only fun you will have is Galdera, the final bosss

I rather play Live a Live desu

FOCUS == UNPARALLELED

This is weird. When I type in the name it doesn't even give a popup in the search bar and even though I am signed in I can't add to wishlist or anything for it.

Regional pricing is bullshit. Fuck you nintendo, i'm not buying this game for your insane price

I don’t want to shatter your illusions but the plot sucks ass. Good musics and good gameplay that’s all.

B-bros, what's she whispering to her?

Have fun, PC bros.

Speaking of ports... Is Phantom Doctrine a good game? It's coming out on Switch next week, 20 euros is pricetag but 30% off for me.

>60$
>denuvo
Square always finds a way to fuck up

>Who you starting with?
It's hard to tell what I'll be doing in half a year, when the game is $30 as it should be.

>looks like some low effort indie game
>costs 60 fucking dollars

And you retards support this shit.

The pleasure of being cummed inside.

I'd rather wait a few months until it get cracked to be honest.

Was really excited until denuvo got revealed. I've been looking for an excuse to replay it as it was my favorite game from last year, guess I'll wait a week for the crack.
Also protip for new people: Tressa chapter 2 is the casual filter of the game.

One of the most boring and tedious rpgs I have ever played, I don't understand what the hype was about except for the charming 2d graphics.

This. Square is delusional

>60 bucks for a year old game with 0 new content or features
Yeah, I don't think so.

this
there's literally no reason for it to be $60 other than hurrdurr it's a pc game.
This shit could run on a 3DS.

It's not awful. The core gameplay is kind of a simplified version of nu-XCOM with some quirks (for example, it doesn't use hit percentages), but with a much greater emphasis on stealth (which is pretty fun but super exploitable once you git gud). The strategic layer gameplay is much more involved than XCOM's, but doesn't really add much depth or complexity.

If you liked the nu-XCOM games I would say $15 is a fair price for it. If you didn't like nu-XCOM, don't bother.

It’s just that at that time they had nothing on Nintendo Switch. Look at how excited they are when a 20 y.o game is released.

I spent like 30 hour on this game waiting for something interesting to happen, expecting it to get difficult or the story to go off the rails, but it never did.

IDK why this game even exists.

Thank you, user. I was afraid of that.
I think I will buy Hard West, then. It's 50% off atm. Or just pirate Left Alive on PC, I want to see how bad it is.

I never understood this game, even as a Switch owner. What the fuck is the point if the 8 characters they advertise don't even interact with each other?

Attached: 1436430735859.jpg (272x252, 9K)

Protip: take tressa or that thief guy as your protagonist for easy items/equipment and money.
the second class shrines are all visible on the minimap, just walk to them.
the hidden class shrines are visible as well but require a boss fight, which you probably aren't prepared for until endgame. Only 2 out of 4 hidden classes are worth it tho (the sorcerer and the warmaster or whatever it was called)

>Denuvo
Fuck off.

^this, holy shit.
If they released the port at 30$ like any normal devs I'd buy it day one.
Now ill wait for 75% just to spite them, my backlog is bloated enough to not mind the wait.

Attached: a3MWJWYA_700wa_0.gif (540x540, 262K)

I SAID POST SOME TRESSA

They do interact with each other? Just not really in a meaningful or interesting way.

She’s telling her that she’s into girls now and that Tressa is cute. CUTE.

Disgusting footfag. Those feet aren’t even cute

Banters suck. There’s no great plot like in FF6 for example. And the individual stories really suck. Generic and boring.

Have fun pc bros, it's a good game

Nah 5 devs in the passed years that released their ported game for half-price on steam.

Fuck y-
>60 yuros

>great plot
>FF6
Pick one.

Switchfag here. Pirate or wait for a sale. It has some unique ideas but it's ultimately a boring and flawed overall package. Hopefully the sequel fixes the story, character and gameplay issues.

I summon Balogar, mightiest of mages!

Can you get wrapped up in the stories?

Some of them are pretty good. Tressa is like a 90's anime about being a merchant. Scientist/Professor dude is pretty fun as well. The other ones are average at best and boring at worst.

Oof, I already got it on steam.
I was interested in seeing what it was like in 1440p but not for that much.
I imagine it'll drop down to $30 soon enough

Just pissed off pedo weebs that there isn't more fapbait in-game. They want a lesbian make out scene or something.
Great game well worth full price, though I do understand why PCJews would be upset when they're used to pirating everything. Hopefully no one cares enough to crack it and people are forced to pay for it. Honestly not even sure why Square bothered porting it.

Its not a grand, sweeping epic. They are 8 separate short stories that are all a small piece of a larger post game conclusion wrapping up in a super boss several orders of magnitude harder than the normal bosses.

During 1 character's story, the other characters don't interact with it, but they will comment on it.

Fuck this gay bullshit. I'm going to reinstall BG instead, the non EE version.

First 80 hours 6/10 difficulty, mostly because all the stories are self contained.

Last, LITERALLY final boss, UNIRONICALLY the last enemy in the game
Difficulty 15/10

Why do games do this?

Attached: 1502598730865.jpg (436x413, 81K)

Last boss is too hard. 2/10

You guys should try Absolute Conqueror fight in The Last Remnant.

>more like Octomom: Travel 'er? I barely knew 'er

Useless. Sorcerer break the game on it's own.

Only a problem if you're bad at the video game. Which happens a lot because people get suckered into this erroneous idea that you shouldn't grind or a bug will make the game impossible. That was a bug only present on the XBOX 360 version of the game and it was patched. But this hogwash warning is still repeated so people end up fucking themselves by playing the game incorrectly.

I'll buy octopus troubadour when it goes on sale

>Absolute Conqueror
Still easier than white conqueror or lost.

>$60 for a fucking ROM

I'll pass

I don't play rpg maker games.

Attached: 1558706429109.png (770x438, 492K)

Yeah that price is nuts. I bought DMC5 Deluxe Edition and Monster Hunter World for that same amount.

mega cringe

For people who like job and battle systems. Story is irrelevant, this game would be 100% better if they took out what little there is currently.

which one's the femdom or the cute shota char?
that one

Sora Shiina

H'aanit for femdom and Therion or Alfyn are both very youthful, but are both adults

Cyrus is best boy and I love him (no homo).

I thought his story was pretty neat. It might have had one of the least interesting final boss fights, but the conclusion to the story was excellent and the Alfyn might have had the best chapter 2 as well.

Whats' the probability that i will like this if i loved Bravely Default?

Attached: 740bc2ff58a040838da6ea218baef937.jpg (569x600, 255K)

I second this, how similar is the power system or whatever it's called in Octopath to Bravely default's brave system?

Pretty similar. You can't go negative though, meaning you cant go hogwild turn 1 on random encounters to end them instantly. You can also customize skills to a similar extent.

It just confused me, it doesn't really start until chapter 3 and he walks from one end of the continent to the other twice, without a clear reason.
Yeah sure he wants to help and cure people, but why did he have to walk from one end to the other, wouldn't the neighboring village have sick people as well?
His second chapter just feels like they didn't actually know what to do with him and had to fill an event for the seaside town because everywhere else already 2 events going for it.

Once you meet that other grumpy apothecary it's fine.

Hm... I dislike Bravely D., never played Second, love Octopath. But then, again, I prefer FF Four Heroes of Light over Octopath.

Hope you enjoy it user's, my main team was Thief, doctor, merchant and hunter

Check out green man gaming

Classes are less flexible but every single one of them is useful. Every character has a base class and can take on another class. Its dual classing, not subjobs, ie your character takes on the appearance of the second job and can use all weapons and armor from either job, so you can have a heavy armor wearing sword wielding Scholar. There are also 4 advanced jobs that are super powerful, but you need to defeat them to use them, like asterisks. BP are slightly different as you don't get 4 separate actions, you can increase the potency of 1 action by several times. Equipment matters a lot more but its not exactly difficult to get. Money is extremely valuable from start to finish. Random encounters go from dangerous to minor nuisance and back again very quickly. The metal slime/cactaur/chomper of this game is the Cait, which looks like Cait Sith from ff7.

Doesn't have a 'no encounters' button but the 'reduce encounters' trait is extremely easy to get and cuts it down so you have perhaps 1 fight per screen. Dungeon design is pretty much the same but with more 3D tricks to hide shit from you. Difficulty scales a lot better. Final boss is absolutely monstrous compared to Ouroborus or Providence.

With sufficient knowledge of the game it folds like any other JRPG would, speedrunners can do Final boss runs in 5 hours while my first playthrough I didn't even find the damn final boss till ~80 hours in, let alone put a scratch in the boss gauntlet before him.

Honestly, it's not a great game. The story is almost non-existent and the combat gets stale fast. Wait for a sale if you really want to pick this up.

no, that's what made it boring

If you like turnbased jrpg battle systems, this one is pretty good tbqh

Cyrus is the undisputed best starter from what i've seen

the combat is pretty fun desu and the music is really good

Underrated post

Funny way to spell Tressa.

>game is the best thing ever when it's a nintendo console exclusive
>suddenly a ton of people call it mediocre or the worst thing ever when it gets ported
Really gets the noggin joggin'.

Attached: ryukochew2.gif (189x189, 144K)

>Can't wait for the pusy leaks I'm so excite.
?

its the opposite. now that its on PC its ok to like it

Pick Therion because you'll always need his skill in dungeons. Tressa becomes unbelievably OP at some point if you build her that way. Also as someone who 100%ed it don't do it because it's not worth it at all.

Why is it more expensive then a physical switch copy in Canada?

lol... no, no it hasn't. Rage 2's early leak that had denuvo was cracked same day. So Beth turned around and removed denuvo from the game shortly afterwards.

The only games that haven't been cracked are games that most people don't care about.

Just do Cyrus > Tressa >Ophilia, and you are covered

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that. If it's not $20 in a year then I just won't play it. not gonna pay full price for some fucking late ass half assed port.

If you turn off the voice acting, then maybe. Greatly improved the game for me but I still can't really get into it, even after ~40 hours.

Attached: sora1558450466441.jpg (1656x1242, 436K)

I own the game for Switch but never beat it due to the grindy slow pace of the combat. I might buy it again for PC if there are mods to speed the game up.

>a few actresses had some uncensored set photos leaked a few months back
Oh really? How? What? Where? Who?

Its a proper final boss that requires you to understand game mechanics and punishes you for playing like an idiot

I'm excited for this just because there might finally be some more threads on this game. I really enjoyed it and hope you PCbros do too.

Just save yourself the trouble and play ff6 again. This game is desperately trying to be those old ones but isn't near as good

Therion was my starter, but I went to get Cyrus first after him

you can not denuvo is uncrackable

>still shilling this garbage

>I want to suck your cock

Already played it back in the day, but good to know other people can play it
It's exactly like those old rpg from 25 years ago but with nice artstyle, so if you love that kind of stuff go ahead and have fun
The funny thing is that it's more ff than ff right now

I'll wait for PS4 port.

PLS BUY THIS GAME. I WANT BRAVELY 3, EVEN IF ITS MULTIPLAT

How many hours of gameplay do you think is fair per dollar spent?

It was the first Jrpg i played in the last 4 years and it was pretty decent.

Some of the stories were pretty good some just medicore.
The optional boss was pretty hard . I liked the artstyle and the fact i had many options to play the game with different characters.

Yeah, turn based

Man, I'm still on the fence with this release.
Was planning for a while to get it and play it on the side when E3 conferences are streaming but I don't know.
That was before I completed Persona 5 and started to dip my toes into Shin Megami Tensei. I don't think I can stomach more than one turn based strategy game at a time and I"m torn between going deeper into SMT with games I already own or paying full price to start a game I might run out of steam early on.
I'll probably just wait for release so people can report how good the port is. It's not like I need the wallpaper preorder and the file size is small enough I don't need to think about preloading.

Apothecary has an Elder God Tier ultimate ability. The Priest ultimate works very well together with mages and the merchant's Hired Help in the mid game.
If you struggle with money very early on, you can collect money with Tressa's passive quickly by sneaking around high level areas. There's a level 40 cave in her starting area, too.

Don’t worry, Money. Your money is all that moneys.

>octopath is just the last night with every palette turned into a mix of beige and brown
Objectively wrong. OT has every shade of color you can think of in the game. But clearly you're probably more interested games like nu Pokemon just overlaying assets on top of each other and calling it graphics rather than hand crafted 2dhd pixel work

It will frustrate you big time because its job system is insultingly shallow.
The story is all over the place because 8 paths meme and the only interesting fight that also happens to put some reason in the entire world building that seemingly kept going nowhere is locked in post game and hidden so diligently that you are very likely to not experience it unless you follow a guide or re-explore every location for no reason.
Also, Bravely Sword died for this unfinished proof of concept so sincerely fuck this game.

I'm starting with Tressa. I know basically next to nothing about the actual game aside from the protagonists and the stuff that was in the original reveal trailer, so I'm pretty excited to find out just how good this game is.

Tressa's the cutest! Admittedly, her chapter 1 is probably the most dull of all the travelers, but I theyll pick up steam fast. You should recruit Olberic as your second character, since he's right next to Tressa's area anyway!

You just outed yourself as a fellow footfag

Tressa is fun but her story is one of the weakest, with maybe only Alfyn being worse

You've made an excellent choice in main character.
I'm not even talking as a waifu-fag.

Only if you do it right and do Tressa's chapter 4 very last

The whore girl has one of the better story lines, might want to start there.

>60 dollars for a PS1 game

Just keep switching characters around, but try to have at least 1 or 2 "mains".
Your equipment has more influence on combat quality than levels.

£49.99
lol no

Some of them are pretty good, some are boring.

I'd buy it on steam if Square showed willingness to make use of the engine for future games. I'd much prefer this look over the Bravely Default low poly look.

Not as much variety in how classes play, but the BP system is a more aggressive version of the Brave/Default system eg. you "Default" every turn.

Pretty good:
Tressa
Olberic
Cyrus
Therion

Boring:
Ha'anit
Ophelia
Primrose
Alfyn

I''m going to wait for a mod that makes every character get exp at the same time. Fuck managing 8 characters.

Started with Alfyn. Amputate ruins everything and you always have an element to break on hand. Therion and Primrose being nearby let you abuse their debuff/buffs hard.

I agree with the low poly thing. Bravely's models/bestiary were extremely boring with that low poly look. OT's boss enemies are delightful to look at.

Attached: Helgenish.gif (250x254, 77K)

Is this going to bomb on PC?
I hope it doesn't.

>OT's boss enemies are delightful to look at.
They look worse than the DS metal Max games.
I've seen SNES games with better animated enemy sprites than those.

It'll probably get mixed reviews on steam due to denuvo + high price, but I doubt it'll bomb in terms of sales.

There's a lot of potential with the engine that I'm very disappointed to not see Square take advantage of. The newest Secret of Mana remake should have been built on it, though the SoM remake was made to be played on phones so maybe that wouldn't have been possible.

You realize that enemy sprites on SNES Final Fantasy games didn't even have animations, lil zoom?

nope the story is mediocre to forgettable, none of the characters stories will illicit anymore than perhaps a chuckle here and there and maybe a "i guess i should feel sad" kinda moment from you. for an rpg the story is extremely weak, the main cast forgettable, barely any character interaction. If you care more about gameplay, music, and design then it really is a must buy. A fun combat system with the ability to make your own builds on different characters. Catchy and memorable soundtrack. The art design is beautiful. Endgame is lacking though, there is only one final boss, afterwards there isn't much else to do, so it hurts replayability, unless your super autismo and want to go through the game again. A solid 8/10 rpg hope you pc fags like it.

whatever you say dude. Animation isn't the reason why Octopath's sprites are good, but because they ooze personality.

Based.

FFXV is as shitty as they get, but let's be honest, this Octopath doens't seem any better. I haven't played it, but looks like a brain-dead story-first barely interactive nonsense that's basically SaGa for the mentally challenged. Am I wrong?

have you not read the thread? it gets criticised for not having enough of a story. Octopath's main qualities is its gameplay, art and music

if it were 40, i would have bought it. what a waste

Good to see you guys are excited for it
Hopefully they'll release it on xone and ps4, third party games should be on every possible platform unless rare cases like bayonetta(nintendo payed everything) or bloodborne(sony directly had a team working on it)

>this game is not worth $60

This is just stupid and clearly made by people who know nothing about this game. This game is NOT an indie game, not in the slightest.
As a Switch owner who loved this game, let me state the facts for you:

If you do all the side and end game content, this will take you close to 100 hours to complete.
Full orchestrated soundtrack and one of the best of ANY game that I have heard. You will get goosebumps fighting some of the epic bosses in this.
One of the best turn based systems ever created. Full of depth yet incredibly easy to learn.
Gorgeous pixel art graphics which is blended with flashy 3d effects. The game is gorgeous and looks like a pop up book. This is certainly not your average run of the mill pixel based game.
A large overworld and map to explore with lots of secrets and different themed areas.
8 different characters all with their own stories. Although some would say it's disappointing it doesn't have a single overarching plot. The characters also don't speak to each other except for a few skits like the 'tales of' games.
This game felt very much like a AAA game to me and it justifies its price tag just as much as others. Please do not make your purchasing decision based on ignorance

Nobody in their sane mind would defend it. The quesiton is whether it's bad or irrelevant. We argue it's irrelevant, and whining about it is just a meme.
Of course, if in any particular game it's implemented so poorly it affects performance, getting a refund and telling everyone makes perfect sense.

I want to restart this game without using Unparalleled Man too much or the Scholar in general. Its way to easy to spend a few turns buffing his already powerful magic and nuke everything to death.

Helpful little tool to help optimize your party: octopathplanner.com/

Just make sure you keep most of your bases of damage dealing covered and have at least 1 person who can heal the team. I usually kept 1 as a priest and 1 as an apothecary for a secondary healer.

Also I found it easier to keep maybe 1 or 2 people in your party always so they can carry your lower level members through their story missions. Otherwise You'll have to deal with more grinding than is really worth it to make sure all your party members are the same level.

Thief is broken early game because you can steal gold, armor and weapons instead of paying for them like a chump.

try solo Alfyn, it has that FF5 challenge run feeling

that's interesting, but where are the hidden jobs?

>feel free to post thoughts/opinions, good job combos, parties, etc.
Tressa/Runeblade is completely broken. Make sure you use her on the final boss, it will make one of the two forms easy. I used her on the first form, but you should probably use her on the second form. She can make every character immune to physical damage for 4 turns, and give them an elemental attack when can be doubled in damage from the sorcerer's elemental aid passive. Also, ALL 8 characters should have saving grace as a passive. A good party setup is all you need to beat the final boss, which is an epic 30 minutes to 2 hour fight.

Will I be okay if I don't look into guides before playing? I'd like to get a bit of a feel for the game before I go in depth but the fact I have to immediately choose the character who is locked to the party for the rest of the run makes me think combing over resources beforehand would be ideal.
Are there any characters I would be especially shooting myself in the foot for taking? I was thinking of going with Tressa but an overview of the characters in the protagonist slot would be nice.

Attached: 1558692652924.gif (180x180, 81K)

Sure buddy, keep giving me more (You)s while you wait for your proctologist.

Have you played any of the Romancing Saga?

>Will I be okay if I don't look into guides before playing?
Definitely play it blind. The game is easy as shit on the second playthrough because you know what you're doing. For subsequent runs you'll want to do challenge runs like you would in Dark Souls to make it harder.

Rage 2 is the only thing you can point to. "Games no one cares about" lol ok sour grapes. Crack watch is blowing up over three kingdoms, fastest selling game in their series, most concurrent players they've ever had. Anno 1800 is uncracked too, it's also very anticipated and the fastest seling game in the entire series. Mortal kombat 11 is still uncracked, the second best selling video game of all time for 2019 so far. What a prime example of sour grapes you are.

You can start with any character you like, it doesn't really make too much of a difference. I had no trouble whatsoever playing through the game without any guides.

For

Cool, I'll just go in blind and adapt later.

No, but I've been interested in the series after seeing descriptions. Just waiting for a quiet release schedule to get into it.

pedOphelia is best girl

Attached: wojakcry.jpg (236x282, 14K)

Going in blind is fine, you won't be handicapping yourself with any of the characters. Just consider everyone's Talents before choosing a main character:
octopathtraveler.fandom.com/wiki/Talents
Because they will always be in your party, choosing someone with a good Talent makes the most sense. With Tressa, you will collect money on basically every screen, which helps a lot in early to mid game as money is sparce and gear is expensive.

>Cool, I'll just go in blind and adapt later.
And I'm not kidding about how the game is easier if you know what you're doing. On your first playthrough it will take about 60 hours to beat the 8 stories and 10 hours of end-game to beat the final boss. But the game can be beaten in under 5 hours including the final boss by speedrunners.

>Yeah might be co-
>$60
Nah

Probably the best RPG Square made this decade. Story is loose but the combat is pure kino.

My tip is to try and undersand Alphyn's exclusive concotion skills. They can break the game and allow you to get the Über Classes @ level 30 or something.

Yeah, didn't doubt it for a second. Given how open ended the game is it's only natural that it can be broken wide open.

Thank you, that is the kind of thing I wanted to know. I like the idea of H'aanit's monster capture system but that's probably just because I've been playing more Shin Megami Tensei and I"m sure it's pretty limited in scope given it's just on one character. Extra cash sounds nice though and I"m interested in Tressa's story.

Attached: 1559675309278.png (720x464, 350K)

Fucking zoomers can't deal with pixel art. The game is made in the Unreal Engine 4 and uses advanced Unreal Engine techniques, has about 100 hours of gameplay, and it had high enough production values to justify $60. But its pixel art so it's "indie shit". Zoomers should be gassed.

Saving Grace makes the game a lot easier, but is technically not needed when you use Cover on at least another character. The slot for SG can then be used for another damage boosting skill, which the game has a lot of.

Erm no, I traded it in after playing the first part because I didn't like it
Haven't actually touched my switch in a few months

>Has a head
Not my Celty

This user speaks the truth

I 100%'d the game after 90 hours, unless you're a storyfag that unironically likes moviegames, this game is a gem, even despite some of the flaws it has.

Prepare to be disappointed. Smash convinced me to finally get a switch, but this was another cause for it.

When I finally got it, I was disappointed. Its pretty much 8 different rpgs plotwise, but none of them are really connected. There is very very little party interaction. On top of that, only like 2 of the 8 stories are even interesting.

Im sure some people enjoy it, but I did not. I hope you do if you're set on buying it.

I'd suggest pirating it first, and buying it, if its your thing.

Remember

Concoct is fucking broken

>60€
>Denuvo
Yeah that's going to be a pirate for me then, I might buy it after if I really enjoy it though. What about the soundtrack, difficulty?

Worst premise but Miguel saves it by making Alfyn look like a dumbass and really making him to an introspective take.
Alfyn literally lets that man bleed out in the forest.

Should be 15$.

Ill pirate it Square ;)

Not him
Soundtrack is stellar, difficulty is fairly light for the most part outside of a few bosses but the endgame really tests all your skills and team building.
I’d recommend trying to interchangeably use everyone if you want to fight the final boss that’s technically he super boss.

Soundtrack was pretty good, but it's not really a big deal to me. generally when I play an rpg I'll be listening to my own music anyways as listening to the same battle tracks a few hundred times starts to become repetitive.

>3rd world country
>$65
I thought this was a bug or something, are these niggas 4real?

Attached: Bog.jpg (1000x581, 63K)

>Not realizing how broken Alfyn is
Your loss.

>but none of them are really connected.

STOP SPREADING BULLSHIT MISINFORMATION. If you actually played the game you would be aware of a few major plot things (Gate of Finis, Galdera, etc) that are brought up during the final Chapter of every stories until the final dungeon fully connects the stories together. Actually play the game before reviewing it retard.

Not him and I’m a huge fan but they aren’t actually connected as characters but their plot points build together to explain the final boss which is cool but you could see why some people would be disappointed if they expected a more typical overarching narrative.
However the fact this lets you do solo runs is pretty fun not gonna lie

The game isn't so complicated that you need a guide or autistic minmaxing to get through all 8 traveler stories.
Final boss is a bit of a challenge, though, and the superjob bosses are also challenging if you don't use cheese strats.

Tressa is a good pick. Merchant is a strong job and she's a character everyone likes.

Alfyn is really strong too, but his story and character is a lot more generic do gooder.

Price is fair
50 hour game, hand drawn pixel art(expensive and tedious), great music and charming writing.

The only argument for a lower price is marketing(more copies sold) and time elapsed...but just because a game comes out earlier doesn’t automatically mean its value is diminished.

This looks like the ultimate summer chill game, and besides what else is coming out anyway?

coping hue monkey

>$60

>Price is fair

I don't think you understand just how bland the game is.

It'll be nothing but complaining about artificial difficulty.

Is this one of those onions games that don't have an ounce of any kind of challenge whatsoever and that you're meant to play it for le artsy fartsy art style like a faggot or is it actually fun with good combat and exploration?

>Preferably 100% off
Surely you know where to find that.

>60 dollars

The former. Bye, ornery faggot

>There’s no great plot like in FF6 for example.
So you didn't finish it, then.

lmao how do they justify this shit?

It's Dragon Quest turn based combat user. It sucks.

Attached: file.png (671x268, 94K)

I was told the game is shit and 300 hours long, is it even worth a steal?

>amazing battle system
>unique visuals
>voice acting
>S-tier OST
>dozens of amazing boss battles

How many hours in the game do you have to justify that opinion, by the way?

The latter. Don't listen to retards like . Despite the game's advertising and such, the battle system and world full of freedom are its biggest strengths. literally didn't play the game at all.

>modern square enix
>game just as shit as bravely default
and whoever names these games needs to be removed

>bravely default
>shit

based retard

>literally didn't play the game at all.
I played the demo. Explain how that's not how it plays user? The stupid save up turn gimmicks were done in Bravely Default, and the weakness stuff, well, Persona 5 is a much better game than this. You get fucking healed at the end of each combat ffs

>amazing battle system

Already wrong.

>amazing battle system
GodDAMN how do you justify this?

Attached: 1557441175240.png (550x543, 50K)

shill harder
the combat and music are average at best while the voice acting is completely pointless

This glorified mobile game is NOT worth $60.

>You get fucking healed at the end of each combat ffs
Y I K E S

>$60

I'm automatically inclined to think the opposite of whatever a wojack poster says, so I'm really looking forward to how this battle system plays now.

>releasing JRPG
>on steam
Sub 10k sales incoming.

>>amazing battle system
Dude, it's a mid tier SNES battle system at best.
>>unique visuals
Yeah, it's hard to find something as vomit inducing as this.
>>voice acting
Is that supposed to be a positive point?
Especially with that barebones battle bantz?
>>S-tier OST
Nah, it's Sawano tier.
>>dozens of amazing boss battles
Pfffff, no.

Ok user, have fun.

>releasing JRPG
>on steam
>jewass price
sub 5k sales incoming

Played the demo on switch, it really isn't much fun desu and I was hype to get it as one of the few jrpgs on switch at the time and was hype when it was coming to steam but I just don't think I could have fun throughout the entire thing

Any price would seem "jewass" to the average PC user.

>I only played the demo but I have knowledge on a 60-80 hours long game's mechanics and how it works

What a retard

>battle system is bad

If it's so, then tell to me how many hours you have in the game, then breakdown and go full details in-depth on the battle system's flaws or lack of depth. I'll be waiting here.

I hate when they use ALLCAPS on the urls

60 USD is jew ass period. I wish the standard was 40

lol fag

>X is a bad price Y is a better price
If it was 40, you'd still call it jewass
Also it is a 100 hr JRPG

It's just your basic turn-based game, but you can stack attacks. I have 80+ hours.

This is the most tedious game I've ever played.

>Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper
I guess I'll wait a few days for the crack instead of giving them money. Not paying for denuvo aids

Difficulty mods when?

>4499 RUB in Russia
WTF are they smoking, that's more expensive than the US price

Attached: 1534969669319.jpg (421x421, 62K)

I would never call it a jew ass price at 40, that has always been my mindset and I only got into PC gaming in 2017 and have been a console fag for almost two decades. I don't care if it is 100 hr JRPG the game is fucking ass.

>I would never call it a jew ass price at 40
lol

I heard you do 8 side stories before you even get to start the game properly, how true is this?

I'm an old fart that skipped a few console generations and was having an itch for some oldschool Squaresoft (enix) turn-based rpg. This game scratched that itch perfectly. Some of the stories are weak and one would argue that there is too much dialog for the plots the game is trying to string together, but the battle system was pretty cool. I just finished it last week.

Main was alfyn. I was regretting my decision, until mid and late game. Holy shit, his concoct is so useful. But endgame is ALL about Olberic's and Cyrus's damage output when supported by Merchant BP whores.

Enjoy PC bros.

Actually terribly made games with barebones gameplay, bad story, linear hallway design, completely soulless. They're terrible games for poser normies that don't even like RPGs or know what makes them good

this game is not good and you shouldn't want to play it, nor would it be worth playing if it was free. it's exceedingly tedious, the story lacks impact due to how it's all broken up, the party members have effectively no interactivity with one another and the boss fights have more HP than godzilla. pirate it when it gets cracked, play it for an hour or two, realize it's shit and uninstall it. you'll thank me later.

>the boss fights have more HP than godzilla
brainlet detected

Pretty true, you can decide the order of things and such, but the gameplay can course of things get pretty frusterating with how much shit you have to repeat and how slow paced things are since it is going for an older feel. The stories especially take a long time to get moving and feel really weak in most areas because they basically constructed 8 mini quests without making each one satisfying.

>barebones gameplay
what? bravely had one of the best job systems out of any ff game, the difficulty of the game was effectively relative to the classes you were using, and the bravely system had great quality of life benefits like being able to attack multiple times per turn, but would also punish you if you abused this against dangerous enemies. what the fuck are you talking about?

>linear hallway design
They weren't particularly complex, but they were by no means linear. But ultimately, they weren't fucking tedious to get through, and the game usually kept you engaged by using traps and simple puzzles, so what's the big deal?

>completely soulless. They're terrible games for poser normies that don't even like RPGs
That's not even an argument. In fact, none of what you just said are arguments, there's just bare-bones conclusions you made. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't even play the fucking game.

>what? barebones gameplay wtf are you talking about
Have you played anything other than JRPGs user? Fuck even SRPGs are better than this.

>I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't even play the fucking game.

Almost none of the critics in these threads have actually played the games, user. They have the serious deluded believe that playing 1/10 of a game means they have knowledge on everything and that their opinion matters.

This isn't a game I'd sit at my PC and play. It's a portable game through and through. Perfect game for lying in bed at night for an hour or 2. You have to play it in small doses or you'll be bored out of your mind. I didn't even pay full price for it on Switch.

turn based games are complex in their own right. Just because they don't constantly supply that small brain of yours with adrenaline doesn't make them simple.

Shill harder samefag

Yeah, figures. I've come to learn that whenever someone says "it's boring, it's uuhhhhh linear, and soulles so it BAD!" There's a 90% chance they haven't played it.

eat shit

Attached: getfuckedretard.png (345x99, 10K)

>soulles

Just ignore posts that use soul or soulless all together.

>turn based games are complex in their own right
You fucking retard, turn based has nothing to do with how complex a game is. Civilization is fucking turn based. This? This is the simplest fucking shit ever, you control 4 characters and don't even have to worry about positions like you do with a SRPG.

This is Tic Tac Toe levels of complexity brainlet.

>square
>after the automata port
>after their continuous refusal to patch out malwarenuvo from their games
lol

Attached: 1484933217358.png (295x310, 110K)

I mean, fair enough, but what you're saying is very grossly generalized. And before you sperg out about how much more complex civ is, you can spare me the tangent because I've probably invest 400+ hours in civ iv, so I think I have an approximate idea.

PC + Switch here
My thoughts on Octopath Traveler are a little complex. I did everything but the secret boss and put 80 hours into the game, so that does say something. On the other hand, I think the game has a D- in execution. Theres no reason to lock your first traveler into your party; it fucks with team comp due to the unique overworld actions. Interaction is almost non-existent and what's there is shallow and unexciting.
All the unique NPCs is cool, but their quests are handled terribly. Dungeons are always unlocked, but half the time their boss is locked behind one NPC in the game you have to talk to. So it's easy to walk into somewhere on the map and waste a ton of time.
The stories themselves just aren't very good. They range from generic and poorly handled to boring and undeveloped (the merchant Tressa) to fucked up (the thief character Therion basically develops Stockholm Syndrome during his).
The artstyle and fun JRPG gameplay is what you're buying here, not anything else. Just keep that in mind. People shit all over Jason Schrier before release when he said it was no FFVI, but he was right.

MY BLADE IS UNBENDING

>but what you're saying is very grossly generalized
Nigga you were the one who brought up turn based as a point of topic for no reason.

If you buy this for full price, you're a retard. It's a $30 game at best.

Jason Schrier claims to be an expert on JRPGs or some shit but still complains about grinding in one of the lesser grindy JRPGs there is. He's an idiot.

The switch version barely goes below 40, what makes you think it will reach 30 anytime soon?

Have you considered that what money might be worth to you might be worth differently to somebody else?

Gonna play this on my vita through streaming once it gets cracked. Gonna be a comfy time.

fuck, i'm too drunk for this site right now.

alright, that was my bad for bringing that up. i can't argue for shit rigth now.

Cringe, this game looks like shit and I love japjank games.

A fool and his money are soon departed.

It's visuals are really all it has going for it. It gets boring as soon as you reach the second act for all characters.

steam =/= switch

I finally just finished h'aanit's story, she was my last of all 8 stories.
spent about 70 hours. It was slow at first but man as soon as I started getting into everyones second chapters the game got way funner.

>these regional prices
If you aren't pirating, you're retarded

>the game got way funner

How so? That's when I started feeling burnt out.

I like this game, but I'd never pay $60 for it.

What? Did you even think about what you read?

Don't Yea Forums while drunk user. Unless all you want to do is shitpost, which is fine.

stop being from a shitty region :^)

Oh shit I forgot this was coming out

>three kingdoms

I just want anno cracked

Yeah 60 is steep as hell

Right be suse this game needs that much optimization.

>60-80+ hours long game is not worth 60$

>$60
>for a port of a console game that looks like it was made in the 90s

AHAHAHAHAHAH

no

Attached: 1553619219715.jpg (500x357, 14K)

So compared to other jrpg master pieces, where does octo path stands
Is it just a generic Jrpg or is it fun

LOL NOPE not until it goes to ten bucks

It's one of the few JRPGs that actually focuses on remotely good gameplay, explorable world and turn-based combat over storyshit

use that to decide yourself

Enjoy our leftovers. Like most pee sea games, the feel of the game will be way off because this is meant to be played on a console.

There's not really a good party. The way the game is designed, you pretty much have to constantly swap party members out, which I didn't think was necessarily a bad thing. It's often too easy to just stick with a party that works and leave everyone else permanently on the bench, so I appreciated being forced to experiment. The big problem with the game, though, is that it never really takes advantage of the fact that there are eight party members. Each character's story is entirely self-contained, and they play out as if they're doing whatever it is they're after completely alone. There are a few skits where each party member gets a cutscene with exactly one other party member, but they never really feel like a real group like, say, in a Tales game. It always feels like they're eight people traveling separately to the same places.

>90 Australian dollars
Fuck that. If I don’t end up pirating it anytime soon I might just actually fucking get it for the switch

reminder that nintendo will be a service in a few years and all the games are coming to steam and will be played how they were meant to be played

The introduction of banter, enemies starting to be more challenging, most characters stories pick up and get more interesting, you're able to unlock sub jobs.

it was the most soulless and aimless game i've ever played

eat shit, i will enjoy this free game in glorious 60fps with my f310 controller

It isn't if it's retro shit.

>60 dollars for a game that looks like it should cost 20
That's a hard pirate for me senpai.

Pirate it. Fuck SE.

thanks for betatesting, cuck.

It was pretty disappointing. What's the point of having a jrpg where the party members never interact? Why is there no explanation why a knight character is helping a scholar character through their respective storylines? What is the purpose of having 8 characters if they never interact? I just finished Tales of Vesperia and while I know the combat and other factors are different I enjoyed it much more.

Attached: 1534311616995.gif (1920x1080, 638K)

Where do you go to pirate games?

>What's the point of having a jrpg where the party members never interact?

Have you considered the fact there are more to JRPGs than muh story?

No.

It's not like Octopath had good combat so what does it have? The art style/music were phenomenal though.

>Octo on PC
Are they nuts? This thing will be pirated.

Octopath actually has one of the best turn-based battle systems. If you disagree then elaborate and analyze Octopath's battle system in-depth and explain its flaws and/or lack of depth.

It just has attack stacks, that it. Nothing amazing about it.

Nice in-depth analysis faggot

That's literally the only unique thing the combat has going for it. Nice asshurt though.

This game is beyond fucking boring. Not worth the asking price anywhere in the world.

>I don't remotely understand the battle system but I'm gonna pretend I know anything about it anyway

nice argument

a
