Honestly was disappointed to see the gameplay because Strife looks and sounds fucking cool. But that was when i thought this was the sequel to 3. Now that i know an actual sequel is coming out and this is just a spinoff, im actual excited because it looks really fucking cool.

Everything I've read and watched implies you only play as Strife and War is a follower.
Darksiders has never really been a dungeon crawler before this new game - it's a real change of genre. Looks interesting and fun, though.
Darksiders have basically been a Zelda-clone until now. Overworld, dungeons, bosses, upgrades that help you beat the bosses of those dungeons, etc. It's probably the best series to emulate the Zelda formula, so if you like that, give it a go.
