I don't understand why they did what they did with the job. They could've easily made it content relevant by making it a class with a fixed amount of slots with said slots being unique by the fact that they each have a limited panel of learnt spells that could go in with each spell in that list having a slightly different potency/castime/cd to balance it. It's stupid easy to put that in FFXIV given that they absolutely don't give a shit about elemental damage.

For example let's say they had an "AoE slot with a status effect", you would be able to fit either Blastbomb or Water Bomb in it, one would bind the enemies and the other silence them or a "Healing spell slot" that could be fitted with either White Wind, Restoral or Magic Fruit with White Wind having a 1s cast for 150 pot, Restoral a 2s cast for 300 pot and so on.

You'd still end up with "meta" builds but with a lot of variance otherwise (it still would be a fuckton more than other jobs) and a base structure that is still rigid enough to make the job possible to balance by the staff.

Why do people say RDM and BRD are the easiest when they're the only dps jobs you actually have to make active decisions rather than following a set static rotation?

It's not only for customization purposes, it's also so that you don't need to farm 47567867 spells to start playing it and yet that farm is still a huge part of the job's identity.
With the system I described you'd be able to hand out the basic spell for each slot and then the player would be able to go farm the rarer spells of each slot if they want without gimping their team if they don't have them since they have substitutes that have the same average potency.
You don't absolutely need to get Restoral if White Wind has pretty much the same potency in the long run but getting it would give you some bragging rights on top of a slight gameplay carrot in the form of extra options.

If you toss an unmend the enemies will start bunching up and running toward you which is when you want to unleash to grab aggro on the pack. Other than that always try to conserve some mp when you see the enemies are about to die so you can smoothly grab aggro on the next pack. The rest is pretty self explanatory I think, at least at your level

Gaius drops linkpearls on every city demanding their immediate surrender. He threatens all Echo-users, accusing them of being the same as beastmen because of the ability to speak their languages. Minfilia starts seething at the threats and expresses her plan to ally with the beastmen so she can use the primals against Garlemald.

The Ala Mhigan resistance comes to Minfilia for help, but she tells them to fuck off because she's not interested in sending her people to die for their bullshit. You go to help anyway because your adventuring partner is Ala Mhigan. The resistance group is all slaughtered by Gaius and you only escape because Thancred, Y'shtola, Papalymo, and Yda show up to fight him.

Soon after, Ifrit, Garuda, and Mog are summoned and must be taken care of. Around this same time, Dalamud begins glowing red. As you get involved with the primals and the newly formed Grand Companies, you frequently encounter Nael van Darnus who is obviously off her fucking rocker.

Dalamud continues to move closer and closer. Cid realizes what's going on because his father's work on the Meteor Project, which you find out has now been reinitiated. Nael has found a method of controlling Dalamud's descent, and is going to use it to turn Eorzea into a crater so that the Empire doesn't have to face the primals.

Gaius goes to Nael and expresses his distaste of the mission. He thinks it's disgusting and worse than the primals, but Nael refuses to stop. He meets up with you and Cid and begins feeding you information. Out of view he's also making moves to disrupt Nael's plans to try and stop Dalamud.

You raid Castrum Novum, which is now Castrum Centri in Mor Dhona. Nael is keeping the Lunar Transmitter, the device leading Dalamud, deep inside the castrum. You destroy it, but Nael tells you it's too late. She reveals that there's something inside Dalamud and begins expressing her worship of the thing. It's still coming no matter what you do.

Nael raises up an Allagan platform from Coerthas called Rivenroad to go meet her god. You have a final battle with her there, at which point you kill her and her aether is claimed by Bahamut. But there's still no stopping Dalamud.

As a final plan, Louisoix asks all of Eorzea to go deep into prayer. He asks adventurers to make pilgrimages to holy sites around Eorzea and gain the blessings of each of the Twelve. Ultimately, he uses this supercharged faith to begin a primal summoning of the Twelve at Carteneau so he can try and stop Dalamud.

The total reason is the high-defense/low-magic defense dichotomy for DRG's armor made them extremely undesirable for raids that continuously shat out raidwide magic damage, Jump's animation locks, and Elusive Jump easily sending a dragoon somersaulting off the edge of an open arena.
