It's not a big spoiler, but I'll spoiler it just in case:
You get Yukari immediately. It's P3 Protag and Aigis you have to wait a bit for.

PQ2 is less "hardcore" than Nexus if that helps sway your decision. Feels more laid back than real EO games. But if you want more complexities probably go with Nexus.

Just started game (around the first boss) and for what it is, an inbetween 0 consequence fanservice game it's fine. When does Chadziodynecock and the rest of SEES come in? I'm not the biggest fan of P5's cast.

Nexus is by far the easiest EO I played, except the two final bosses, which are on a whole new level of bullshit, even compared to the previous games. Although AP can be cheesed relatively easily. Kamoshidaman on the other hand gave me a harder time than any of the bosses in Nexus. But I can't speak for balance in the lategame PQ2 though, since I haven't got there yet.
Sort of. They really toned down their raw damage output. Overexertion and Death's Edge got removed altogether, and Thunder Fist is a master level skill now, instead of a starting one.

Chad Ziodynecock's squad joins during the second floor of the second dungeon (excluding Yosuke, he joins later) and SEES does the same for the third dungeon (excluding P3 protag and Aigis, they join later)

What difficulty level are you on?

Switching between normal and easy. A lot of those special tickets drag on too for my liking and I make them easy. But when it's time to actually progress the game I go back to normal.

no. you can have a team of any 5 characters (unless you're playing on risky, they force you to use joker there)

Joker, Yu, Chie, Makoto, Yosuke is my team. I'm just using characters I like. Fucking hell I want Door and Aigis already I don't give a crap about FeMC and her bullshit

The only protagonist that is required is Joker, and that's only if you play on Risky.
Also whichever character initiates the AoA gets put in the front position (ie. FeMC was the one to knock down everything to start the AoA)
Junpei got severely nerfed, and Akihiko got exponentially buffed to be Junpei But Better. Junpei is still DA MAN though.

It's a fanservice game dude, subpersonas make everyone viable. Just use who you like.

Mitsuru, Ann and Yukari are all frail, Ann and Yukari are backrow casters, Mitsuru can go mixed but works best as a caster as well.
Mitsuru and Ann synergize through binding and your entire team is complimentary with their elemental coverage.
Aigis is by far the best tank in the game. Giving her All Guard to protect your frail backrow will stop them from worrying about their low EN and HP.
Unfortunately you can't swap Joker out on Risky, because Yu+Aigis is the best frontline imaginable, and Joker's unique skill doesn't really compliment this party at all.

All things considered, I give this party a 7/10, not the best or top tier but still a good party and will flourish with the right sub-Personas.

PQ is Etrian Odyssey for babies, and other than that it’s a shitty Persona spinoff with no English dub despite the P5 dub team being wonderful.

Wow thanks for the input, I didn't know Mitsuru was weak. I like her the best tho. I'm thinking of 3 front 2 rear and now I must switch out one of the girl. Bummer

It's a decent 7/10 game. The combat is a improved from PQ1 (especially since instant death moves are nerfed), but the dungeon designs are a bit basic (the 4th dungeon is the most interesting one, but it goes on a tad bit too long). My biggest gripe is that including three casts (and FeMC) means that nobody has time to shine and a lot of characters are forgettable outside of ticket events. The main plot is just there and inoffensive, but juggling >25 characters was a mistake.

I think you mean Aigis/Akihiko/X is the strongest frontline possible (usually a linker for the 3rd position). Yu's swordbreaker is good but not necessary since you can shutdown bosses or tricky randoms with binds and/or ailments.

Mitsuru isn't weak though, she's an excellent character. If you have to bench someone get rid of Yukari.

As weird as it is, I kinda saw this as a positive. The entire time I played PQ1 I just wanted to kill Teddie. Now there's so many people that he talks less in comparison because other people need to speak. It's wonderful.

Just got it in the mail last night, not even to 3rd floor of 1st dungeon. Hard as hell so far, but cute and fun.

Mitsuru is very strong. One of the higher tier characters. She has a good stat spread and a fantastic unique ability, and well as pretty good skillset.
Her flaws are being extremely frail with low EN and HP, and learning too many good skills and needing to drop some of them/get them on her sub.
I'd get rid of either Ann or Yukari.

I've played the Japanese version when it came out, the best characters are both P3MCs, P5MC, Aigis and Akihiko.

Akechi served me pretty well.

Pirating both would be ideal, if you're going to buy one, have it be EO.

Polite detective. He makes remarks throughout the game that imply he regrets the choices he's made. He never lets his Black Mask side show.

The worlds in Q1 seemed way cooler. They really wasted the movie theater gimmick.

Yes, a few. A bit of undermining Joker's authority, but nothing too drastic. They play him pretty straight as just Crow, another member of the Phantom Thieves.

I think her healing skill is bugged to benefit from Joker's HP Recovery passives, as it fully healed my entire party every turn. If you can manage a party that fills a Navi bar every turn, you can extend it indefinitely making it so only instant death or being beat down in one turn can kill anyone.

I am in the last labyrith, I really enjoyed everything so far, the character are less boring than in the first PQ(i dropped it in inaba bullshit), The difficulty s fine, even if i would have prefered it harder at the end, instead of being unreasonable in the beginning.

The writing has a lot of funny moment and plenty of references.
Akihiko and Haru are fucking based too.

There is no need for second playthrough since you can fight the superboss directly here.

Akihiko is still le protein man but he doesn't show up as often thanks to the bigger cast size and sometimes talks about other things even if chances are its going to devolve back into protein/training.

Junpei is an excellent character in Q1 (at the very end of the game).

The game in general was just dragging too much, so shut the fuck up.

I did some sidequest to kill a certain side boss and the fusion persona unlock is 10 levels ahead of me meaning I did this super early and on hardest difficulty

left carrot is weak to fire, right is weak to elec, once you've destroyed them both then his main body is weak to fire
don't use all out attacks, he'll put up a fire wall if you do. try to juggle him

S tier is correct, Aigis is broken and Akihiko is the best damage dealing character
A+ tier is also correct, P3MC has EverythingAmp as his special skill and is a fantastic magic nuke as well as a great binder and a decent physical attacker
FeMC is the best linker and can also serve as a caster/healer with above average magic and agility which is further improved by her weapon choices
Mitsuru is smiliar to Door, except only when targetting weaknesses. Great magic, luck, agility, passable strength, good skills
Narukami is Aigis-lite, only reducing damage instead of nullifying it, and only for phys instead of elements, but he makes his entire row bulkier and stacks to cover most of what Aigis doesn't, and also hits really hard. Plus he has an immunity to Mudo
Yukiko gets Salome's Kiss without need for a subpersona and the Luck to use it, plus the best SP and fantastic Mag. Her unique skill is also usable, passive defense is always good even if it's not as good as Aigis' or Yu's.

Ever since Persona psp where Theodore debuted. He's constantly been abused by Margaret and Elizabeth, the twins aren't nearly as mean to him, even Marie isn't mean to him, it's just those two harpies.

But this game is dog shit for interactions they gave all that to Futaba, Hikari and Minako

Agreed. Q2 improved on a ton of things, but the dungeons' design just can't compare.

Hard is the same difficulty as Risky except you can run from FOEs and aren't locked to using Joker/don't game over when Joker dies.
The first 2 floors of Kamoshidaman are hard because generic enemies aren't complete pushovers and you don't have the resources to go all out every battle without needing to go back and restore SP.

So if you play as feMC, I know you get Theo instead of Elizabeth. But when did all that bullying start? Was it in Arena or something?

Do Liz and Theo interact in portable?

i've heard P1 and 2 creators wanted their characters not to be used for spinoff stuff and that's why they've seemingly been forgotten by Atlus.
Any source on this? Or is Atlus just too lazy so they respect that and use it as an excuse to never mention 1 and 2?

I heard it's more that the new writers and director don't want to touch on stuff that's not their intellectual property and leave that stuff as it was in the original creator's vision.

in the psp game no matter which mc you pick you can choose between liz and theo, and in that game liz remarks that she forced theo to eat a bunch of powder protein which theo himself mentions if you choose him, it doesn't matter if it's the female or the male. So yeah, he's been her bitch since day 1. It got worse with Ultimax which is Theo's most recent appearance and he spends that game being put on the runaround by both his sisters

Also the twins bully Theo,too I don't know where that other user said they treat him nice, in the dancing game they even dance faster to make sure Theo can't keep up with them and in that same game the other two sisters are bullying him in their dance scenes as well, Marie has never interacted with Theo so who knows how she treats him, dude's entire life is dominated by abusive women at least his alternate verse self has Minako

But Ken isn't bad though. He just needs a bit more effort to be good at links than P3P MC which is what they both specialize in.

As a linker FEMC is way better, her stats are distributed in a better way and her skills also compliment her role and stats better.

Looking at this, should I just use a broken party of Aigis, Akihiko, P3 MCs and Yukiko or can I just make whatever team and still win? I don't intend to play on Risky. I was thinking of making a FeMC, Yukiko, Haru, Akechi and Joker team.

You can play with any team you want, it's perfectly manageable. In my case I just use Akihiko because I like him, not because he's OP.

As long as you can create a well balanced and functioning team you can beat the game with anyone. Just go through the characters that you like and see what roles they can cover.
