How does rdr2 look so amazing? When I play it on ps4 it looks like the best game I’ve ever seen. Is it some kind of trick/effect they use?
How does rdr2 look so amazing? When I play it on ps4 it looks like the best game I’ve ever seen...
Yes.
The lighting is just really good. It reminds me of paintings.
Woah... Amazing....
A very clever depth of field effect that sort of glosses stuff in the background without you realizing it
30fps
>PC wont EVER get RDR2
but but but the rumors............
I own it on PS4 but I want it on PC for 60fps and mods
Rockstar really knows how to use DOF and lighting to make things realistic, but the most important factor is your distance from your TV, you're probably about 10x further away compared to a computer monitor which makes a huge difference perceiving quality
you are used to sony shitty aesthietic
it doesn't look so hot when compared to horizon 4 or horizon 3, or horizon 2 from 2014...
They put a good deal of work into making sure that almost every little bush and tree actually has a low poly sprite in the right location no matter how far away you are which keeps everything looking consistent and does wonders to reduce the jarring pop-in that plagues open world games.
Also Rockstar seems to understand better than most that rocks and land-forms should look like they formed naturally and have weathered in place since their formation.
it looks terrible
Screenshots never do justice
Looks great in 4K. The major thing that makes RDR2 look fantastic is it’s lighting, they ducking nailed it
The entrance to the braithwate estate in lemoyne looks amazing
>ducking
cringe phoneposter
You might be going blind, RDR2 looks like absolute shit on PS4.
To me it looks like a high budget GTA 5 mod
You know you can have your phone accept your c*ss words if you ask it nicely, right?
Screencapping this for the e3 RDR2 pc reveal. Will post on your suicide livestream.
Trash bait faggot
Damn, that's a nice looking thumbnail.
>only 2 1080p screenshots so far
>they both show how bad the game looks when there's no distant scenery to save it
at least put some effort in, consoles.
damn you really proved him wrong with this 99% dark screenshot
bruh ive completed gta 5 about 4 times. It looks like a highly polished gta 5 mod.
I haven't played it yet but it looks like they didnt go full retard with the depth of field. DOF can actually look good, just dont amp it up like you have near sightedness, like most fucking ENB mods for GTA SA. Shit, remember those?
Does the PS4 not even run the game at 1080p or some shit?
What's with the upscaling?
>braindead fag doesnt understand fog
fogfag
> 4K
> RDR2
user...
>braindead fag thinks posting a night time screenshot with fog is a good way of showing people how good the game looks
Okay but what about the advanced MUD TECHNOLOGY
>Rockstar at e3
First e3 for you hmm?
JC4 looks like shit up close but it unironically shits on RDR2 in draw distance.
Funny how a console game looks better than anything ever released on PC.
No shit PC gaming is dead as fuck and for third worlder poorfags
It does run 1080p, but I'm pretty sure that they use some kind of trickery that makes far away objects be rendered low res than the others.
i miss old mgs TECHNOLOGY threads, someone do one for rdr2
Yikes Nintendo are so fucking embarrassing
It's 100% the lighting and specular mapping. The texture work is detailed, but low resolution, but there's a lot of details where you pay attention to.
this is the most zoomer post ever kek
It is a pretty game
Nice N64 texture on that rock.
Its a funny game zoomer. I'm 25, started with gta 3 at 5-10 fps on my pentium 3.
because rockstar isnt just worried about making things look realistic, they have actual artists working on this, the lighting and effects arent made to look real all the time but to look good while still being believable.
basically soulful realism
It truly is a beautiful game. More impressive that Rockstar was always sort of known for having average to poor graphics in their games for the sake of scale. RDR2 is both wide in scale and mesmerizing in detail.
yuck
It's a great looking game that's unfortunately terrible to play.
That's cute n all but this is the out of bounds area in the game and it has this level of detail
Because Sony paid for it to not be released on PC, it would look way better if it comes to PC
Here's a repost
>sony paid
Lmao faggot rdr2's budget was 900 million dollars they dont care about sony's shekels. It didnt come to PC to deter piracy. Will release in 1-2 years like gta 5.
its native 4k on xbox one x. how many times must you people be reminded?
>hoofs stands on the gaps between the planks
nice details basedstar
Why do the horse animals look so meh though. When you ride the horse it’s like it’s pitter pattering
Just like GTA5 amirite
>Will release in 1-2 years like gta 5.
Probably but it’s boring as fuck rdr2 is not as good as rdr1 I can’t help feeling anyone wishing for this on Pc is about to get monkey pawed
Heavy use of low quality textures + fog.
Wow, so they wasted resources on pointless areas and half assed the areas you do actually see.
Bravo Rockstar, good to see those sweatshops in India are really paying off.
Game is console exclusive:
>10/10!
>PC EVER EVER!
Pc port announced:
>Its fucking shit anyway
>You about to be monkey pawed lmao
>The prequel which isn't on PC is better!!
Pathetic
>all look like shit
When did consolefags standards drop so low?
>PC EVER EVER!
No just no! Rdr2 is tedious and held back by awful mission design wait and see your monkey paw is on the way
I like the snow.
You're trying too hard here a (you) for the road.
it's probably great and you're just talking a lot of shit. can't wait to play it..if it ever comes out on pc..if i ever have a pc which can run it..
..if it does ever come out on pc..
might as well just get a ps4..
looks great
looks fucking awful
so, which one is how the game looks like?
Are you retarded? They are dufferent games
oh that's the first game? never played either as a pc fag.
I said it is probably is coming to pc but the mission design hasn’t improved since rdr1 except now it has tons of pointless busy work like gun cleaning.
The sun beams make the land look really good
once you beat the game there are missions left so the game gets better, free roam is amazing
Saint Denis at night is gorgeous
Shouldn't they try to get RDR1 first?
How well does rdr1 run through emulation? It’s on xbone but if you want it on PC there has to be a way
account.xbox.com
I dont know on what potatoes are you playing on but it looks dozen times better on my screenshots.
I figure this is the best place to ask but what's the best plan to get a new horse. I got killed in a random encounter and my horse never spawned back and now I'm stuck with a shitty two dollar one until I can raise another few hundred bucks.
Virgins buy horses. Chads break wild ones.
fog make dark?
It’s insane how much the graphics have improved
The lighting engine is GOAT. Eveything else is pretty low-res.
None spawn near Saint Denis and I can't be fucked to move far from there with a shit horse. I feel like I've been thrown into a rut with the game now
Your pic looks like shit though, anglo ape
Yes lets compare the world with the 180p textures.
>Inb4 its meant to look like that.
>not wanting RDR2 on PC to unleash its full potential
>wanting the game to be forever gimped on a plastic underpowered shitbox
off yourself
So take a coach to Valentine
Feels good mayn!
I will admit that landscape shading looks nice but i can imagine it only looks good in that overcast condition as that helps disguise the shit draw distance.
Lighting is the most important thing to make a game look good
>Roger Clark, the VA of Arthur, says he'll go to E3 this year for a big announcement
>This isn't indicative of something happening
Rockstar also announced GTA 5 at E3
Yeah, no shit sherlock. If the lighting wasn't as spot on as it is the game would look like absolute trash on console.
The game also has a beautiful starry sky due to the lack of light pollution at the time
no other game comes even close to looking this good
holy shit you can go to armadillo?
also, red dead redemption 1 is still one gorgeous looking game even now.
It's kind of a trick. It's a combination of a few things
>Actually good tonemapping/realistic color palette
>They figured out how to make LOD trees look good
>Shadow distance is near infinite.
>Using POM to make textures look more three dimensional
yes, the entirety of new austin is in rdr2 as post-game and it looks amazing, actually feels like a desert this time
there's no mexico though
>He said he'll be there for an announcement
Proof?
there's also TAA covering everything which makes it harder to notice that most of the fidelity is being rendered up-close
Yeah but there's fuck all to do. New Austin is a cool addition but it really feels like an afterthought.
its fine as long as nothing is moving cause then good old sub 30fps kicks in and ruins everything
>we'll never get rdr1 remade into rdr2's engine
>Rockstar also announced GTA 5 at E3
No they didn't you lying zoomer retard, they announced it on their own website and had a countdown for the trailer, which they released like a week later.
KYS.
>PC Beggars STILL waiting for RDR2, 2019
the special effect used is called SOUL
>welp guys sorry to disapoint we uhh "lost the code" (we dont want to do that because we would only make like five times instead of ten times times the investment, so fuck you nerds)
It has soul, something Nintendo could learn from
why would you want that? just let it be as it is, there's no reason to remake it in the rdr2 engine, not only does it still look good, but there's something to be said for leaving things as they were at the time as an artifact of that time.
God tier global illumination and lighting design
it felt that way the first time, the cactus dotting the landscape. also the locations really felt pulled right out of westerns.
>Wanting to play an open world shooter above 30fps with a mouse
Haha yeah how pathetic
cringe
so hang on, what was that desert location seen in the trailer, with the lizard?
also is the map pretty much entirely northerly?
New Austin, it has desert-looking areas.
No,theres plains,swamps,forests...even a area with volcanoes n shit
>volcanoes and shit
what? where?
SOUL
Cotorra Springs were the legendary wolf is and a treasure quest
Geysers aren't volcanoes.
no, but volcanic enough. also i didn't america had geysers anywhere...well there's that one national park..
The weather makes my dick hard
so comfy
Are you talking about the place with the geysers? I guess that's technically volcanic, but there aren't any actual volcanoes with lava and shit, are there?
Poker is literally better than the rest of the online, even with how slow it is.
i must have this game.
also, can you swim now?
i know why they did it in the first game, to close off areas of the map.
I remember thinking RDR1 looked amazing too, those beautiful long range vistas, seeing the cloud shadows lazily rolling over the plains etc, good shit
Rockstar just know how to world build, they hire wisely and maintain a high level of standards...at least in some areas
Unlike Bethesda where they view fans as gullible faggots who'll eat anything they shit out, Rockstar view their fan and popularity as a fucking standard they need to keep hitting I.E they don't take shit for granted
yes you can
and also fish
Yeah you can. There's a running joke in the game where the other gang members take the piss out of John for not being able to swim too.
Yeah. And the gang makes fun of John's inability to swim.
Arthur can swim. John can not. This is consistent between both games.
The standards were always low, just slightly nudging the quality up keeps the consumer happy as they will alway be content with something they honest to god think is the best option.
RDR1 still looks pretty insane for a 9 year old game
>When did consolefags standards drop so low
how young are you?
Don't you remember the circlejerks about horrid crap like Unchartd 2 being PHOTOREALISTIC
shit has jaggies bigger than my dick
Yet it looks better than anything on PC really makes you wonder lol.
Same as God of War and Uncharted, literally no PC games look as good and impressive
great plains is by far the best area in both games
tards always and forever say that, see:
I hope it does that FPS mode needs a good KBMing
Pretty sure he meant that they announced the ps4 version at e3
Agreed
I’m talking about Uncharted 4, nothing on pee cee even gets close
I'd like it if it were as wide as the entire map currently is. As it appears in the game, though, it's just so small I can't enjoy it.
What gets me is the toxic green fog. Is there a lore reason to it? It just looks like botw takes place in a dump
I like RDR1 Tall Trees
Literally most AAA games look better on PC than those games. The only thing those really have going for them is character model detail and animation. If you're talking about environments, like I said most PC AAA games win.
>Any DICE game
>Ubishit
>Tomb raider games
>KC:D
you get the gist.
>I’m talking about Uncharted 4, nothing on pee cee even gets close
but that's exactly what your ancestor tards have said for literally all other uncharted
Truth is your brain turned into mush due to console gaymen, it's not true
Delusion
Y-yeah, fuck those PC losers am I right guys?
PURDY BOIAH
Ok you fucking retard
I actually played Uncharted 4 on a PS4 Pro in HDR. It looks great, it really does. However apart from animation and Nathan Drake, it just looks average.
>yadda yadda
Go right ahead and prove that PC has anything worthy to show, because it hasn’t
remake looks nice
>implying I don't own RDR2 for consoles and wouldn't sacrifice your left nut to replay it on PC at higher detail, 60 fps and with actual decent aiming
>Go right ahead and prove that PC has anything worthy to show, because it hasn’t
I've had this convo 10s of time throughout the years with your tard forerunners, no matter how striking is the difference they are either unable to or unwilling to even see clear differences
Hell you could post an actual picture to them and they will still screech about Uncharted looking better
You are mentally ill
And see
Check out any of the major AAA games on PC ultra. They're not really optimized for consoles like Uncharted, so on the same hardware the exclusive looks better.
>Muh racing games
GT and decades ahead of the froza series.
Modded. But nice try.
>b-but opmization that’s why
>m-m-mods that’s why
As expected, literally no reason to own a PC
>sub 30 fps
Just fuck my shit up.
lol
I feel sorry for the 40 million Xbox owners that have to put up with 864p lmao
>that one barrel has been sitting there for several decades
BRAVO
Found the CrapGamer zealots. KYS
>People coping and saying it looks like trash
the tippest of toppest of keks
Greatest weather effects in any vidya.
>Mods don't count
Talk about fucking delusion
PC fats and Nincels coping about their pathetic life choices
Literally nobody is saying RDR2 looks bad.
I have a ps4 pro and Xbox one x and PC. Rdr2 on Xbox one x and uncharted 4 look fucking great.
However, they don't look as good as an off the shelf AAA game maxed out on PC. It's just a fucking fact.
>those power lines swaying.
what are you delusional schizos blabbering about?
>Modded. But nice try.
it's not even modded
>As expected, literally no reason to own a PC
go right ahead
>maxed out on pc
>implying that good graphics = purely technical
I'd assume more for shit referencing 2 and Arthur, since in rdr2 the only known gang members are
>Dutch
>John
>Bill
>Javier
>Uncle
And I guess Abigail but she was just the communal cumdump. I know they try and explain John not mentioning Arthur due to not liking to talk about him but considering he was also like a son to Dutch and a brother to John.
This is all console plebs since the 1990s:
youtube.com
watch the whole series
>get ambushed with empty deadeye and horse dies at the same moment i die
>max bonded Arabian gone, even though i took the precaution to buy horse revives
>not motivation to play anymore, since that could happen again at any time
Is it me or the game, Yea Forums
Red Dead is great but SPIDERMAN and all of Sonys games look better, even Infamous from 2014
>It's not even modded
Unlike you I actually played and replayed crysis at release. I know it's modded. Original crysis doesn't have that foliage shadow resolution or density.
And even if that isn't modded, it's not exactly impressive. God rays are 2007 technology.
It looks amazing, but I honestly didn't like the visuals that much, it looked kinda grey and boring. It also looked kinda grainy at certain moments, I don't know why.
The Witcher 3 impressed me way more overall.
That's the thing though, Everything still holds up when you look close in RDR2
I'd rather just give you a free (You) and move on.
too bad the gameplay sucks
witcher 3 is ugly as fuck
>Unlike you I actually played and replayed crysis at release.
it's not crysis schizo tard
The time jump from 2's epilogue and 1 is 4 years
Is it Kingdom come deliverance? That screenshot from before release that had a developer recently say they had to scale back forests and vegetation density because they couldn't get it to run at acceptable framerate on pc?
RDR2 is the best looking game on consoles
Witcher 3 has a better artstyle imo. Slightly more stylized
I just picked up RDR2. No denying it's a good looking game but could you imagine if it got a proper PC release? This game would look amazing with Anti Aliasing at 4k, especially if we could remove the blur filter.
Well how are you arguing that Uncharted 4 is the best looking? It's got a plain realistic art style and it's merits are purely technical. That's why, when it comes to environments, it loses to DICE and cryengine games maxed out on PC
No Nu-gow and Spider-Man hzd look better. But hey that’s just like my opinion man
when it comes to PC, and it will come to PC, it will be the best looking game for a very long time. not even factoring in things like graphics mods/ENBs either.
You mean RDR2? Yes, I dropped it after like 5 hours. Shit feels like manual labor most of the time.
It looks way better than RDR2 imo. It has an artstyle and doesn't go for pure realism. RDR2 is impressive up to a certain point, but there's nothing interesting or memorable about it.
It has anti-aliasing at 4k on the bone x. What it really needs is a high frame rate, because just like every other video game in history the image becomes an unplayable blur the moment the camera movies even a smidgen
both of those games have nowhere even near the amount of fidelity, and RDR2's lighting outclasses pretty much any game that isn't RTX-supported
Rdr2 doesn't go for realism either retard. It's art style and lighting direction are on a-while-nother level
Very true. RDR2 is like fucking black magic.
Howdy
>implying rdr2 has no artstyle
literally the entire visual inspiration for rdr1 and rdr2 is old west paintings, brainlet
lmao looks like arma 3 and that's ancient
What kind of AA, friend? I''m assuming it's a very performance friendly AA?
This. It's obvious for anyone who actually looks at the game for more than a minute, especially in RDR1 (which still manages to look great today despite its age). Sunsets and storms are right out of a painting.
I miss the threads the first few weeks this game came out.
and movies of course. rdr1 in particular is being in a western movie.
PS4 and PC owner here. The game is GARBAGE. Good graphics is all it's got. The gameplay is fucking slow trash.
>Is it some kind of trick/effect they use?
100 hours of labor every week.
Woah, looks like peasant tier Polish trash.
Base White American Quality.
yeah they were comfy af
now people just want to shitpost about it or shit-talk RDO some more lol
So, is there any point to donating, gathering ammo and food for the camp? I just started, so the camp is still located near Valentine.
Beautiful screen. Gonna use it as a wallpaper.
it would look better if they fixed the fucking HDR on xbone x
These paintings, with their bright yellows and abundant primary colors in general, look like TW3 rather than RDR2. RDR2 is surprisingly devoid of bright colors for a game that takes place in some of the sunniest places on the planet.
RPCS3 and Xenia are both trying to run it
Xenia runs it faster for now (20-25fps)
If you want the upgrades sure. But otherwise not really. The donations are a plot point later on though.
Not really, you get more supplies at camp and some moral points, that's about it. I only donate so they'll stop bitching about it.
I know what you are trying to say. But I still feel like it’s artstyle is kind of bland.
First thing that jumps out as exceptional, aside from very good surfacing & lighting work in general, is that still draws shadows on things even very far in the distance.
Most current gen games are using all dynamic shadows which are expensive on the GPU, so to compensate they cull them for everything that's not close to you. This makes like distant vistas look like ass because they get completely flat lighting from the sun. In RDR2, even cliffs miles away look like they're shadowed correctly, which makes a huge difference.
Technically, I'm not sure how they can afford to do it, since no other current-gen game really can. Maybe the artists mark up large objects by hand as having high shadow importance, so the engine knows not to cull their shadows from a distance? Just a guess.
no I meant the witcher
t. didn't play the game
Those are not the paintings rdr2 emulates. Once again, retard.
Hahahahhahahahhahahahhahha
I'm not sure how to properly reply to an outright false statement.
And you can easily find places like that in RDR2 if you're in the right biome, time of day and weather.
Nice cope pc faggot
you should probably actually play the games you shitpost about before making embarrassingly and easily verifiable lies
I played it on PS4 Pro on a top end 4k TV and the game looked like blurry trash.
>RDR2 is surprisingly devoid of bright colors
lol wut
>When I play it on ps4 it looks like the best game I’ve ever seen
I beat the game and not once did I have this experience.
>Is it some kind of trick/effect they use?
Judging by your reaction I'd say you are likely biased toward the setting or are under 25.
imagine being this retarded holy shit
Name 5 games that look better, fatty
lying PC fag detected
Witcher 3 has a painterly look, I would not say RDR2 does. I still like how it looks though. But it doesn’t really look painterly
The game itself is fucking boring and there's not even ONE mission that is difficult.
The only difficult part of this game is not switching off due to the sheer boredom. So, in that sense, is like a "classic western movie" where you get a lot of wide shots and basically no tension.
Wind Waker and Okami. It's more important to have a distinctive art style than "realistic" "graphics"
>look better
No. I thought my reply made it clear I'm not a child with vague constraints.
>once again trying to imply the game has no artstyle after you got BTFO
embarrassing
Rockstar is actually very competent at their technical department.
A PC port of RDR2 could reasonably happen but I'd mainly want it for the gameplay mods if there could be any.
nah the swamps are
So fucking maaad, please find Jesus.
Part of the game user, keep on playing
Show me the paintings then. Most of the time, RDR2 looked like it was taking place in fucking Norway.
It's not an artstyle then. Artstyle is something that should be present at all times. Skyrim looks cold and grim even when it's sunny, TW3 looks colorful even when it rains. RDR2 doesn't have that unique look. It doesn't have a uniform color pallette or even a tone.
Don't you see the cool hue of that grass?
I play my PC on the same TV I play my PS4 on, trust me it just looks damn good no matter where you view it from.
Look up Hudson River School
That’s because they have the Sony Soul
Literally not mad at all. I enjoyed RDR2 quite a bit. I just never had a
>omg most beautiful game ever
moment and I expressly remember this because I expected one. What the game did do impressive visually was all the redundancies for collisions.
It's a realism art style.
The exact same thing happened to me holy shit
RDR2 looks pretty
That's what I was saying. Realism.
Did you use hdr? I used it on my tv and it looked like garbage so I turned it off and it was fine. Maybe a bug or something hdr on ps4 at least isn’t great. And yes I calibrated my tv.
What We do in the Shadows is fucking great.
the HDR in this game is known to be dogshit
they "fixed" it in the latest patch but it still looks like shit
yeah and all those bright colors lol
Turn it off then I don’t think any games with maybe the exception of hzd actually look better with it on.
RDR2 is a great game graphically and I don't even know how that fact is up to the discussion.
The game is a boring nightmare and a total time waster. You would spend your time better watching a real western movie instead of this poor parody.
rsr2 look like a ugly game lol play like a bad game too. gay game for retarts. peace
How do you guys take such good screenshots? Mine always have pixels in then
Yikes have sex
Unironically this. HZD has more of a unique artstyle
Seething. Literally game of the generation. With Nier Automata.
your screenshot is bugged, user
New Austin is so fucking comfy I love it.
too bad you can't go there as Arthur anymore
Nah. There cold, snowy mountains, windswept alaska-like area, temperate oak and pine forest, mesas and dry plains, dusty southern town with cotton fields, swampy louisiana like area, a tropical island and desert.
RDR2 is pure /comfycore/
killcams are the best thing in this game
Comparing one of the best open world games ever to some shitty generic racing game. Surely you're not this retarded
Right Soul Left Soulless.
Something similar happened to me with my American standardbred, it got shot to shit by bounty hunters who were being very aggressive, they shot the shit out of my horse, and were shooting me while on the ground. I got up and tried to rin for my horse and take a health tonic and got gunned down along the way, lost my horse then.
>there wont be an emulator
that sure is a small and blurry pic that you've chosen to demonstrate how good the game looks. Is this the best it can do?
>Witcherfag trying to shit on other trash movie games
>people calling the gameplay garbage
It has literally the best gameplay of any game released recently. If you can’t see that you have garbage tastes
I think the very real possibility of losing your horse at any time made me care about it's well being more and planning ahead when entering gunfights that could potentially mess my horse up by hitching it before starting shit, hopping off and telling it to flee etc.
Felt nothing about RDR1's infinitely summonable automaton horses.
not the same guy.
Look that picture he posted does look very nice. It almost looks like a painting. Even in a situation without much to see, the game looks very nice.
everything about this image is awful
As pretty as RDR2 is, I don't like how the faces look
Other than Arthur, everyone has an awkward look
>Game looks quite good but isn't quite photorealistic.
>Yea Forums thinks game looks like shit but provides no alternatives
screenshots are awful
This picture is crazy is this real?
Agreed, there’s something off about the face models. Everything else looks great
I'm replaying GTA4. Why the fuck did Rockstar not learn from this game alone that delaying actions on the screen from your button presses is just shit?
Why do mass repliers exist?
Worst horse controls I’ve ever seen. Can’t even maintain speed with the analog stick like any other game
why would you link your Xbox account on Yea Forums you god damn cosmic troglodyte
How are there so many details when you look so far away? I mean the graphics really are beautiful. Honestly the hardware of the consoles is so bad noawadays.
I am a PC gamer with a rtx 2080ti and so on. Why do we not have a game with such graphics?
Another question is, why are there not more devs using whatever technique is being used in that game to produce such great graphics even in the distance?
I remember Witcher 3 where things start to look not so nice anymore when you look into the distance.
The horse controls are massively better than any other game, especially Witcher 3. The only problem it has is not being able to maintain speed by like, say double tapping x, but turning, collisions, all that is great
wow
thats a lot of empty space for you to do absolute nothing
>Worst horse controls I’ve ever seen
How few games have you played that this can be the case?
not if you aren't retarded
I thought Yea Forums loved gta4 a hated gta5 gamey responsive controls.
>that fps counter on the top right.
Just my opinion from playing from 3 all the way through to 4 in the past few weeks. 4 feels awful.
yes, there's no way the horse handling is worse than it is in oblivion. or even skyrim.
It fits with the slower pace RDR2 is going for and makes the player more ''intimate'' with Arthur when he doesn't move in unnaturally fast jerky motions.
RDR2 is the opposite of empty and the map is full of interesting things to see and do.
Literally has the most alive open world in gaming.
I have no idea how they do it. Considering the hardware that is now five years old, and wasn't great to begin with, this game looks better on my PS4 than it has any right to. The draw distance is unreal, there is hardly any pop in and there are no loading times in game for the massive map. It really is a technical marvel.
do you ever just pity the faggots who will never play this because they're indoctrinated contrarian Yea Forumsedditors and have a hateboner for graphics and sequels?
I don't quite understand the whole anti Red Dead hate mob desu
The game doesn't really do anything that' egregiously awful.
It’s amazing how it renders distant trees so well
Pathetic Nincels seething because their toddler game is completely irrelevant
I think it doesn't, as a matter of fact you can barely see the classic repeating textures that plague open world games. I think it's just a combination of really good postprocessing filters that hide the little details of distant objects pretty well, which is extremely innovative.
That and 6 years of development and meticulous optimisation.
The power of having a 200-man engine optimization team
your shitposting is no better than theirs, captian chromosome.
Not being able to maintain speed with the analog is enough to make it bad
The horse controls a lot better in Skyrim. You hold forward to go, and the movement is controlled smoothly with the camera. You only have to press the dash button once and the horse starts going a lot faster still just by holding up. It’s a lot better feeling than the obnoxious tapping of RDR2. There is literally nothing wrong with the horse controls in Skyrim whatsoever, it’s perfect for the game. You can have a relaxing ride across the land whereas in RDR the controls are just distracting.
Thanks guys now I'm playing this again
>RDR2, one of the most graphically advanced video games to date runs on the xbox at native fucking 4K@30fps
>in the same fucking timeline, there are jap devs, in current year, publishing playstation titles that run at 720p@30 fps
Is there anything fun to do in Red Dead Online? I played the first few missions and it just seems like a worse GTA Online.
How is it bad in Witcher 3? You hold A and it follows the road. It’s simple but that’s all the game needs.
wow
you can ride a horse
and shoot at animals
totaly not a empty world
The graphics and world alone make me want to play the game on ultra settings and a 21:9 aspect ratio and just explore the world during chapter 2 or 3 before things go to shit.
I love how hard you try to make something good seem bad.
>hold A and it follows the road
why even have the horse or be open world at that point then? Just go hub-based or something.
Why do you need so many active markers man??? kys
Nope, it's both a downgraded GTAO and RDR2 Story mode.
There’s random events and missions literally everywhere, stop being a retard It turns really wonky and you end up colliding into random objects often. It’s not good at all
I didn't, you fucking retard. The game looks great but the trees are not rendering well. Look closer and you'll see them rendered in slices like PS2 era video games. It's just really good postprocessing filters that hide this, which doesn't detract from the game or make it ugly you dumb faggot. It's just part of the optimisation.
Because it’s fun and relaxing to ride across the world and see it. In rdr2 it’s annoying to do this because the horse is annoying to control. It’s a lot more fun to ride the horse across Skyrim than here
>There’s random events and missions literally everywhere
wow
you can shoot things at random
totaly not empty
>There’s random events and missions literally everywhere
not him but they're pretty few, or maybe I'm spoiled from playing TWC3.
The thing about RDR2 is that it's near-strict IRL simulation, so yeah most of the world is obviously, like in real life, gonna be empty. It's subjective weather that's a bad or good thing. I personally enjoy and appreciate it but the game does become extremely dull after you finish the main story and you're forced to roam a completely empty world as John. Which is a shame since he has access to Armadillo, one of the prettiest parts of the game.
You have no idea what you're talking about lmao
dynamic resolution
>because the horse is annoying to control
get an Arabian stud. They ride the roads buttery smooth.
There's about 70 random encounters.
Doesn't use it.
You've gotta be fucking with me, horses in Elder Scrolls games feel fucking awful and unresponsive, once you actually learn to handle a horse in Red Dead it's basically second nature.
TW3 certainly has more I can agree with that
Not all the missions even involve shooting, way to prove you’ve never played
Yes, it's TAA
But you can literally do the same thing in Cinematic mode.....
>70 random encounters
random encounters ala "my house got robbed, please go clean out the bandits holed in"? they're extremely boring.
>When the console fag gets BTFO and stops responding
>Not all the missions even involve shooting,
yeah the other 50% is about riding from point a to b
One day you will realise there's zero sense in these sorts of arguments. Nobody will change their mind. You can't force somebody to think 'oh yeah, I did have fun playing that game' because all thorough criticism aside, it always boils down to that.
the blur filter is the best thing about this game, it hides all the low draw distance, poorly rendered trees and textures. It's what made this game so pretty. If you think a PC will have good draw distance to balance the blur filter removal then you're probably wrong. Not even a titan SLI would probably handle that much.
Some of them are pretty fun, I like the goldpanner one
and ?
>my house got robbed, please go clean out the bandits holed in
is that an actual event? I thought I came across all of them already
Or threatening people, getting into bar fights, freeing people trapped in basements, dueling, stealth (which is actually good), robbing stagecoaches (a few can be done nonviolent), etc. the mission variety in RDR2 is actually stellar you can tell they didn’t want every mission to be a crazy ass shootout
No actually they're generally more fleshed out and better placed than your typical Ubishit spam.
and those things dont involve riding and shooting?
stop kidding yourself
thats all you do in that bloody game
the objetive might be diferent but the ways of doing shit is aways the same
Yea I came across that one in the swamps north of St Dennis
There was a pretty neat one where I helped a dude who'd been bit by a snake then he bought me a gun when I came across him in town a couple hours later. It was a nice touch I wasn't expecting any effects from it other than getting good boy cowboy points
because it's a shooter hurr
Yes, believe it or not you can minimize the violence in several missions. Your making it way simpler than it actually is
The only one of those that involve riding and shooting he listed are stagecoaches.
yeah because you duel with giant swords right?
And not even all of the stage coach missions do
this mission is cloned several times.
>riding around
>find person bitten by snake/dying/stuck in trap
>save them
>they return the favor in the nearest town by buying you a gun or something else
Duels never go into full-blown shootouts, thought that's what you were referring to. Plus most of the time they are against people so drunk they end up falling over anyways.
The camera is ugly as fuck in cinematic mode. You should be able to set it so it’s the normal third person view. In cinematic mode you can barely enjoy looking around because the camera forces itself in these ugly angles. I don’t know why they made it so bad
because you hunt for buried treasure with your gun right?
No it doesnt retard
In Skyrim you hold forward to go, and the camera controls it. I don’t see how it’s unresponsive, it feels fine. You’re mostly riding on the roads so it’s not like you’re making super tight turns anyway. But riding it feels relaxing and smooth and not annoying and cumbersome like red dead
Sounds like the game's just not for you :)
Because the horse is too responsive, it's immersion breaking and boring.
>700x394
Riding in Red Dead is both immersive and smooth. Skyrim only pulls off being smooth
it's hard to express liking ot a game with a playerbase that's filled with shills who deny some of the game's most glaring aspects like the fact that 80% of story missions are ride to point, shoot an asston of people and ride back home. It barely varies from this, and when it does it's mostly the optional side missions (which are criminally few).
In Oblivion and Skyrim it feels floaty as fuck and I feel like I'm not actually involved in it. In Red Dead I'm actually able to feel the movements I'm making and not like I'm moving on a ghost.
so you basically admit you're playing it from far away?
okay
>11ms input lag
would you sniff?
You're a cowboy in what's basically a spaghetti western on the run from the law constantly trying to pull off scores, if you didn't expect the game to mostly be shootouts in the main story I don't know what you expected.
Objectively wrong statement but your free to believe it.
So you’re saying Skyrim is too responsive while the other person it’s saying it’s too unresponsive.
Wrong.
What are you talking about there's tons of different types of missions:
>All the open world collectathon shit
>The hunting minigame that's everywhere
>House invasions
>Escaping colm
>SIde activities with your bros
>YENNEL
>Charlotte
>Snooping around the graveyard
Just off the top of my head. Plenty of variety
you got ride to the place the treasure is
You have to admit cinematic mode is annoying when most of the time you can’t even see where you are going. Why not include an option to just have it follow the roads in third person view
yeah but still boring
name 5 story missions that fill the following checklist
[ ] are fun
[ ] are not ride to point and shoot alot of people
You are right. It's probably more.
I'm on chapter 4 and I'm not really seeing that as being the case. If it is shooting there's been good setpieces at least like the tram in Saint Denis or going to the manor house to find Jack. Other than that there's been some good story missions like the bullgator, the night out with Lenny, stealing the horses with John and Javier or hunting the buffalo and then the buffalo hunters with that Native guy
yeah you do get to ride around the open world in an open world game :)
not him but it's the TV you retard. I'm playing on a TV with 7ms input lag and RDR2 feels extremely responsive.
Get a panel that costs more than your monthly allowance, fag.
see>inb4 b-b-but not le fun!!!
if it doesn't control like fortnite I want no part of it!!!
seen it, they're not story missions. Some of them aren't even missions per se.
Beating up the gang on the train
Bar with Lenny
Serving moonshine
Sneaking around the graveyard
Hot air balloon
This.
I read somewhere they do this trick where the background changes into flat screenshots far away in layers so it looks like its 3D when in fact its just a flat image far away. Then as you get closer things become 3D again
>Hot air balloon
doesn't fullfill the checklist because despite the air balloon touch you still shoot a shitton of people from it anyway.
So... your saying riding to a point and shooting people is fun? If your going to argue at least be cohesive in your arguments user
Yeah sluggish gameplay really is the best.
>not understanding how game engines work
Every game looks like a mod of an older one
2 years. Cope already.
Why are people rushing to answer this? There's nothing wrong with a fucking cowboy game having a lot of riding around and shooting and anybody who's played the first couple of chapters knows there's plenty of mission variety. You're just going to get pedantic shit like 'well even in the giant alligator mission you're still SHOOTING it!'
>Uncharted 4
It literally looks like shit, tho.
>why is there so much shooting in my shooter
you must be a real hit at parties lol. There's also the Charles Chatonay and Tesla stuff, or all the shit in the Epilogue
You don't even spend 10 minutes shooting in that mission, you snipe a couple people and there's one small shootout
Either way fishing with Jack and fucking with the rich guys at the party was fun.
Fiction. We made it up.
>30fps
>Camera Filters
>Motion Blur
>Locked graphic settings
>Select rendering
There's probably more, but those are just a hand full of tricks console developers use to make games look more graphically impressive and "cinematic" while saving on processing.
Put that shit on a PC where you can control the graphics and the game will look a lot more standard. Same thing happened with GTA 5.
oops meant to reply to
So, unrelated to the arguments, can you actually watch that one guy get executed by the electric chair? I followed his chariot after the side mission and he stopped at the square where Colman’s was hanged and has just been standing there doing nothing
shooting is fine, faglord. It's just the fucking execution.
All missions follow a very linear and repeated pattern
ride to point with friendlies
assloads of baddies show up in corridor environment or arrive from multiple directions PIECEMEAL
some kind of escalation, etiher a gatling gun, a cannon or a gang member gets wounded/killed
run away while enemy riders show up from your right and left along the road that you have to shoot
Almost all shootey missions follow this shitty pattern. There's nothing unique about most of them and it's retarded and immersion breaking from the wild-west setting since there's supposed to be not that much people around and in the end you and the gang are just a bunch of fucking bandits holed up in not-louisiana escaping the law, not fucking supermen genocide machines.
Yeah, must be bugged
same happened to me.
you're supposed to come later, the execution doesn't take place in the same day.
The scientist butches it and dies.
Damn, I was looking forward to it. Especially after Arthur tormented the poor guy with lightening stories
>Riding through a foggy swamp at night
>light only from my lamp
>see a rider approaching me
>seems strange, limp
>gets closer and falls off horse
>tell him I'll take him to doctor
>points me to Saint Denis
>never been before
>ride out of a wet, overgrown swamp
>ride into a slick, clean, lit up city
>trams, electric lights, huge buildings
>bring guy to doctor
>takes him in the back
>I follow and watch as he tourniquets his arm and saws it off in front of me
That was a sequence i will never forget in gaming. Truely a spectacle the whole way through.
I heard there is a vampire random event where a guy is feeding on a corpse and runs away faster than your horse can ride, Ive never found it though
So many people have given you responses of unique missions and you come back with this shit without even gracing those posts. If missions do follow this formula then there's some form of variation on the theme or at least an engaging context for why you're doing it. They aren't as cookie cutter as you're making them out to be.
It's not random, you have to actively find it
>even gracing those posts
because I specified story missions, the replies are all side quests because most of the players itt are normies who played it once and mix up optinals iwth story missions.
RDR1 had the greatest sunsets I'd seen in a game.(maybe next to Witcher 3 now)
RDR2 has this issue where time moves so fast, the sunsets only last a few seconds.
All of these are story missions. Fuck off.
Looking amazing is all it has, and that’s all they have to do to earn your 60 bucks. Enjoy your half baked sim elements and scripted missions.
>Inb4 Bingbingwahoo/
/Nintentrannie/Etc
I own a PS4 and PC. The only Nintendo console I own is an old Wii.
>RDR2 has this issue where time moves so fast, the sunsets only last a few seconds.
also sunset doesn't happen sometimes until it's literally 8:30 pm lmao
Who cares i bought the game for the sandbox aspect of it
WTF is wrong with you?? Literal SHIT comes out of there, why would you want to put your beautiful nose in there?
Performance does drop sometimes when there's a lot of particle and shader effects happening on-screen but it's solid anywhere else
>Literal SHIT comes out of there
i mean that's literally the point
Would the government have hunted down any of the other gang besides John?
They were kind of using Jon to do that. I can’t remember if they killed Uncle I think they did
They got rid of the Arthur in New Austin glitches? That sucks. Guess I'm never deleting that save.
He's killed in the shootout at the end but that could have just been since he was helping John. He's really inconsequential so I can't imagine them wasting resources on it.
it's the perfect lighting
Yea. Makes sense that they used Jon to hunt down the rest of the game, each of them was extremely deadly
Or they beg you for liquor to die quickly or they are killed by wild animals. I had a guy in a trap get killed by a cougar as I got to him.
Now if only there was a whole game that unfolded like this with no true scripted cutscenes and shit... BOTW was a step closer but we aren’t there yet and the game looks like shit compared to RDR2.
Nope. There's only a slight delay on analog stick movement, every other control is responsive.
Man, this game needs a horror DLC
The lighting and atmosphere in the game are perfect for it
I'd love to see an entire storyline where you have to escape from the murfree broods or something like that
I cant wait for RDR 2 to release on PC so salty niggas can pull a 360 and claim RDR 2 is GOTY now that they can play it on their daddy's tax machine.
>best game ive ever seen
someones literally only played console then
embarrassing
>murfree broods
what about the night folk
This. It's NOTHING on Morrowind or Gothic
it will once it releases on PC
This game has the best lighting and fog I've ever see, there are a bunch of wizards at Rockstar, it's pretty unbelievable
I had one outside that all blacks village, of some dude at a camp saying he wanted to get back to his home but needed help with the night folk. I agreed to help and we slowly trudged through the swamp in the dead of night with only our lanterns for light. Came out from under the trees to find someone strung up on a tree upside down, then finally reached the dudes house where there was about 4 guys. Killed one with a arrow and the others came running, with Arthur freaking out at how quiet they are and not making any noise as they charge at me with machetes or as I shoot them. Another wave comes after storming into the hut after I take them out. Swamps at night are pretty spooky.
>Murfreesboro Brood
>Night Folk
>Skinner Brothers
What was the craziest gang?
the game does take place from may to september
I really wish that there was more emphasis on survival, needing to actually hunt/craft/cook and getting to set up a camp by yourself, rather then a fade to black and Arthur having a tent and fire set up, and one that was a bit more like the random camps you find and not as bare. Wish stealth was a bit more viable as well.
>DAMMIT, DUTCH! I thought we was supposed to be getting out of this mess, one last score like you're always saying! Now thanks to this-- this neh-crow-nomicon we've got Pinkertons after us on one end, and dead folk running around on the other!
Setting up a tent and cooking is my favorite part of the game. I wish you could cook more. I like holding the button as he roasts the meat.
>fog to hide bad graphics
>smugness to hide tears from not being able to play it
"Noise, Arthur, we needed to make NOISE! We have obtained the book, these pages of gnarled human flesh and blood at our disposal and we can do as we please with it, THIS is the opportunity we've been waiting for, between ancient spells and curses, enough pages to make a man go mad at my fingertips and the dead roaming the earth, any old bastard trying to get between us and our way of life will not mess with our family anymore, and we can go and disappear wherever we please, leaving the disgusting smell of civilized land behind us. We just need money!"
I didn't know RDR2 was announced for stadia
I hope R* makes a great PC port. GTA V's is, game runs flawlessly and did so 4 years ago
Eh I played like an hour and got bored because it was choreschoreschores.
>meanwhile, without all the fog
describe me your feeling right now, ninceldo shill.
Fuck off gallowsfag.
Agreed. Even just riding through it feels a lot emptier, and more barren. I get it's a desert, but I personally prefer the newer parts of the map. Especially around Valentine, Strawberry and the mountains, so fucking comfy.
Haha, holy shit, is that legit a picture of that girl on the left? A buddy of mine actually pays for her shit, despite the fact there's no actual nudity. Gonna send this to the retard ASAP.
I played Uncharted 4 and RDR back to back. Uncharted 4 is a better looking game, but Red Dead is nearly there.
Why do people pretend like IRL you can see everything clearly at all times. Usually your sight will be impeded by the elements or even just a limit on your vision
wrong
You can barely see anything in the distance
>played RDR2 on PS4
>want to get it again on PC
>remember the awful slow-paced narrative focused missions
If you go back into town later, you find that the one armed dude is getting executed for murdering a hooker who made fun of his stump arm.
location?
:^)
I was surprised when I stumbled on a bounty I caught getting hanged.
>clouds over mountains to hide them
looks like mount hagen, the mountain below hanging dog ranch on the map
No, what is it?
Want me to tell you how I know you've never been outside past the nearest KFC?
My screenshots never look this good fucking garbage ps4
>fog everywhere
>540p
>trees with no shadow
2/10
>have all trophies but the online ones
How hard is it to get these trophies?
It really is one of the best looking games
Why is there dirt on this screenshot?
When your textures look like BotW you should really just have fog everywhere lmao
I'mI'm on a PS4 pro
It’s not actually rendering relevant objects or locations in the background though. It’s basically just nice wallpaper
that whole bottom left side is N64 tier
xbone?
This my horse. Its a brown Turkoman
>these BotW screenshots trying to compete with RDR2
lmao, this is fucking cringe
copypasting from this user on /rdrg/
>Pics taken with the share button are all the same, that's because the (shitty) method the've been using is just the source bypass (the signal BEFORE it goes to your tv/monitor). That's why you see 99% of the time blurry and dark pics despite they are 100 times better when you're gaming. Unless you use an external capture device connected to your tv, is not indicative of what you're experiencing
PS4 pro captured with an external device connected to the tv
Imagine having actual draw distance that shows relevant objects and landmarks instead of just being used to look like pretty wallpaper
what spot is that? that looks way better than on my ps4 pro.
stop, this is getting sad.
By relevant objects do you mean ubisoft open world shit? I'm sorry red dead doesn't have that crap, go on, go take take your towers
Yeah, what a shame RDR doesn't have a dozen towers you need to climb to unlock the map
>nothing to hide
>what spot is that? that looks way better than on my ps4 pro
Near Ambarino, just before the snow part. Also TV type and calibration make day/night difference
I love them both!!!
yeah just one more score
