You forgot that it popularized console online and paved the way for paid online, it made fps devs focus more on console games and killed arena shooters, and it introduced regenerating health. It really was the most damaging game to vidya ever made

Once again, that's not like it was the intent of the game. They didn't make a game with the intent on fucking over other genres, they made the game they wanted to make because they had fun with it. It's the market that decided that was the direction other games should take afterwards. The classic shooter and arena style of fps were starting to get old and stale by that time anyway. It's not crazy to think that something offering up something different than the norm would take off like it did.
Any game could have led the charge, it just happened to be this one. Be mad at the movement as a whole, not just putting all your anger into a singular game.

1994 Here, never got to play CE in middle school and grew up on PC instead of console so I never got sucked into the halo games
Unironically excited to get the chance to experience something that was important to a lot of people. Looking forward to the staggered releases so I can experience peak pop in CE, 2, 3 as I finish the campaigns.

92 here. I played CE and H2 on release. H2 online was peak comfy growing up. Kids these days will never experience having a big team lobby going all day with the boys from school on a snow day. Or joining random online friends customs to find 16 other people all talking just messing around glitching or maybe trying to get the golden warthog. It was truly the best online experience I've ever had

1990 here, campaigns are the only thing the games have going for it. Halo is pretty much the start of every genre killing cancer of the fps genre. I like the games but nothing will change this fact. They're mediocre at best.
