Yeah, the last two DLCs were terrible, but the French DLC was crazy good.
I pretty much played Frontlines exclusively for over 1000 hours, that was pretty much the only thing I did in BF1.
When the game died and Frontlines was impossible to play, I just quit and went back to BF4.
I uninstalled BFV after 100 hours, worst game ever. Feels like a cheap knockoff of a proper Battlefield game, the game literally has no soul.
No amount of free DLC will salvage BFV, it's rotten to the core with bad design decisions, it's a game made by boomers and interns for boomers and mongoloids.

And right now, the meta is all about playing Assault due to the kit's ability to both engage infantry from close to-medium range with semi-autos and ARs, and destroying vehicles at the same time.

Makes sense that Assault would be the top pick class, it's the only class that can PTFO the most out of all the classes. So when people who actually want to win the game want to, you know, win the game, they'll do just that and pick Assault. It was a subjective waste of DICE's time to even make that map, let alone spend time researching the area, playtesting the map, and all the dev time (LOL they already gave up by then and left the skeleton crew on it) required for it. Contrary to what you might think, Battlefield -- the game originally about combined arms in all out war scenarios -- is not about its vehicles. It hasn't been for a long time now. It's about its infantry playerbase who autistically rant about getting killed by vehicle players nonstop, which is why Operation Metro has been remade over and fucking over in every Battlefield since 3, from Operation Locker to Fort Devaux to, now, Operation Underground. The infantry cancer is so late stage that it's a visible, writhing mass of flesh surrounded by necrotic rotting tissue that is the walking corpse of the Battlefield series.

What? In BC2, BF3, BF4 and BF1 there's tons of servers running the big vehicle maps 24/7. Golmud 24/7 is like the most common server after 24/7 Locker.

If anything, Locker and Metro having such longevity speaks to how well designed they are, word of advice, avoid 64p servers when playing Locker or Metro. 32p Metro with no explosives is the craziest, most fun infantry experience you can have in BF4.
Not everyone likes running around big open maps doing nothing for 5 minutes at a time.

And don't get me wrong, I hate the meatgrinders as well, but the truth is that Metro and Locker play extremely fluid when the player count is 32p or 48p.
When you have 64p is when you can have more than six people watching every choke, so pushing through is impossible.
In 32p Locker there's constant action, back capping, emerging frontlines. It's very dynamic and fun, and it's pretty much the only way I play Locker/Metro.

If Call of Duty had the gunplay, class system/balance and map design of BF4, I'd play it.

It's almost like there are these things that you can spawn into that allow you to move across a large >Battlefield< faster. I don't know, like a... vehicle, maybe. Because I played with a couple of friends and kept hoping that the early patches would solve the issues the game had. But over the course of those 100 hours all my friends slowly quit until I was left alone, and also quit.
For reference, I have 2000 hours in BF4, 1000 in BF3, 1500 in BF1 and uncounted in previous games in the franchise.

It already is like that, since BF1, self reps immobilize you, you can't shoot while repairing, and any damage tick (even a small normal grenade) will interrupt the repair process, which goes in chunks. It's also slower than repairing from the outside with a wrench, substantially so.

I agree, I've been asking in the forums and QAs since BF3 an option to make the tank driver seat locked to whoever spawns it, and the lock being range limited. If you bail from your tank and run away further than 20 meters, you lose the driver privilege and anyone else can hop in.

It's even worse if you're good with tanks and salty mongs in your team will make an effort to steal your tank to fuck you over, has happened so many times in BF4 and BF1, it's not funny at all.

Every time I tank duoed with a friend we would always warn the other we were getting out and the gunner would automatically take the main position. If we lost the gunner seat it was usually no big deal as the autists would usually get out if you backed up and stopped moving for a few seconds. I knew they couldn't "move" but the fact you can pre-aim infantry while repping then shoot them is really silly. Maybe have a dedicated repair seat or something? I dunno.

I never really had my tank stolen because either I go down with the ship or have someone rep, or I'm doing the reps. I try to avoid shitters as much as possible, and it's always hilarious to throw C4 on your tank after it gets jacked so the enemy basically 1 shots them. They learn real fucking quick after that.

Shit I miss when vehicles required you to actively go to them. It made runway-fights great.

Well as you know BF4 has a cooldown on the rep tool, sometimes in hectic fights i'll drop off the main seat to rep. Other times, since I use the smoke active, both of us will get off to rep to tank a full volley from multiple vehicles, and in that instance we've had the tank stolen.
No matter how rare, it's an entirely avoidable thing by allowing self-reps from the inside.

How are they going to integrate these other factions into the game since there's only allies and axis where you can equip american gear to brit soldiers currently.

Honestly I think the worst is the ones that see you are covering a position, run up to your window/spot and then start wildly shooting at a tank or random infantry you are trying to let pass you so you can ambush 3-4 of them, just giving you away. Infantry play is solely based around adaptability, but god damn these people have no battle sense or tactical play whatsoever, just as soon as they see people they instantly start firing at them no matter which weapon they have nor how far the range is.

They were given Battlefield 4 in its most broken state by Dice Sweden and they pretty much repaired it and turned it into one of the better Battlefields in the franchise. They also made all the DLC, CTE content and overall were pretty active with the community.

Might be unpopular opinion but Battlefield 4 has overall been the greatest Battlefield ever made.
