I get this feeling from Akatsuki.
Bad Akatsukis mash buttons the whole match and if you make a mistake they still get good damage out of it.
Good Akatsukis play in a way that it still feels like they're just mashing buttons the whole match but they convert every hit into a full combo too.

it also could have been the fact that I had 1 frame instead of 4 or 5 and that I've been working on the setup more in training mode
saturday the 15th. generally once you get in on phonon with buffs and a knockdown if you have her cornered at about 6b range you can just string off of that and rebeat into 2a/5a and she really can't do anything outside of guess. if you can watch the redblade/silent or go1/schoolbus sets from combo breaker.

I wish GBF was coming out sooner, or even had a release date because I want nothing more then to play more Kat.

I feel like they missed tons of potential with Ferry's design. They could have had some kind of ghost-summon-stance system similar to Zappa but nah she's just Dhalsim with a DP and projectile mine

she gets fun when you use her install, but it's rarely worth it even if you get to pretend you're phonon for a few seconds.

Man fighting games are so weird sometimes, i basically took a month off, and some of the stuff i was working on when i quit is coming out way easier than it did a month ago. I can near seamlessly do that right corner crossup now. My combos are rusty as hell though, so at least that makes sense.

The faster draw (and the faster attack) usually wins out). However sometimes a trade will end up with either you or the opponent still being able to capitalize if you or they're in hit stun following the trade.

why is what a thing

pick one thing that gave you trouble and recreate a situation for it with dummy recordings, then figure out your options for dealing with it.
eg. say someone's overhead gives you trouble, record a blockstring with the overhead and practice blocking/punishing it, then record another blockstring or two in other slots that don't have the overhead but start similarly, and set it to random playback so you can practice then reacting to the overhead and punishing
you can do this for any ind of situation, the best players tend to be lab monsters and will just go practice bizarre obscure situations in the off changce they come up in a match

there should be enough things there outside of OSes to keep you busy for a while. even if you don't want to learn them, keep in mind top JP/NA players use them so you should understand how they work if you want to blow them up.

Realistically, just new characters and balance updates. Maybe a new vs. theme and a new stage or two. I still think this is going to be something of a patch than a completely new title that's going to have new story/arcade.
Throw in new mission modes too

The only thing I really hope for is that they DON'T add any half-assed system mechanics.
By the time Melty was done it had a mess of systems and gimmicks of varying importance, and UNI really felt like it consolidated all of those in a really slick way. I want it to keep that coherence and not itself become bloated with random ideas to later be refined in FB's next game/series.

Keep an eye on his meter and don't let him get into his groove. His offense isn't scary if he never gets a chance to run it.

Get in his face and keep him in the corner. If you see a super flash, jump over him. You will always avoid both doing that since his dp hits farther out and you're in the air unable to be grabbed.

2A > 2B > 2C > 5[C] > jB >jC > jC > 66C/5C > 214BBB is the easiest and most frequent A starter that nearly every hyde uses.
What delays are you having issues with? I'd need to know to give you some easier alternatives.

I seem to always whiff 6B or hit with the first hit of 6B when I want the second.
Another example would be blah blah into j[C] > 2C. End up whiffing 2C instead.

I really wouldn't worry about doing combos that involve getting the 2nd hit of 6B and whiffing the first one.
For beginner stuff, you can stick with 6B > 214BBB > 3B > 5]C] > 214BBB. Hyde combos involving his B/C buttons that aren't 6B tend to vary greatly with distance.

But if it's Phonon as I suspect, basically you need to be ready to stop my air approach at all times, because Wald has an awful time moving without assault.

The sound cues usually help me the most but at this point, it's pure muscle memory for me. I'd still say there's a rhythm to it, but I'm just lacking the words to describe it

I don't know if it's matchup specific but I have to call out the tk kuuga with 5b. If you call that out, divekick will crush any button I press afaik. Just another tool for the kit.

Why are orie combos so specific what you can combo off of? I swear the 421a, 5a, 5c always drops because I didn't do it in a specific way.

You can't use the j.B > j.C > j.214A > 623A > 5A route on an A starter. I saw you kept trying that yesterday.

How do you even remember if you got the A starter in time to know what combo to do?

A lot of her combos go 5C > (2C) > 4C or 2C > 4C after the starter, so there's a couple moves to remember whether you initially hit with A or not. Then you can follow up into j.B or 623A or j.214B.

If you're really stuck you can just do the 2/5C > 4C > 623A > 5A etc route after almost everything at first and then work your way into recognizing starters.

The easy version is just 236A > 9D > j.C > 66C. You don't have to delay it or anything

I think you're confused. 2C > 5A whiff is a common to reset pressure since it leaves you at -1. If the 2C actually manages to connect, you can quickly do 66B after the 5A whiff to confirm it into a combo. That being said, the window is pretty small so you have to be on your toes to react to it

Orie has a bug where if you don't do a combo a specific way she can't finish her combo.

Did you know Orie can hold any button and still do a dp?
So if you're wait to get out of a combo just hold a button and you can do a dp with a different one.

Hopefully they get a fix for it in UNICLR.

Good games, I think I did alright with Orie but the combos are still an issue. I'm getting better at using the thurst at the very least and the persona. So not bad for the first week of trying her out. Hopefully next week I'll be doing full combos.

I mean, I've asked around plenty already. Not to mention I've played a bunch of long sets with Atic so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with the match up.

The consensus seems to be that you need to parry or dodge charged thrust. It's +0 on block and Orie has better normals than Yuzu, so my turn is basically over if I end up blocking it

But you make it too easy for orie to find her spot. You have to move and throw off the range of the charge thrust. Even the slight step back can save you instead of risking a parry.

I don't think you understand how easy it is to punish a teleport in neutral. Do you think I haven't tried it against Atic? Blocking too, everytime I block charged B thrust, if I try to mash afterwards at all I'm basically guaranteed to get counter hit

Sai right? I'm not sure if you've tried it in training mode yet, but when you do a normal B teleport, there's a bit of a delay after you reappear where you can't input any specials. If you do 421B and immediately try to 236A, the move won't come out. Unlike a blocked slash into a B teleport, there's no blockstun hindering the opponent at all.

It's so slow I'm able to consistently punish all 3 teleports with Yuzu's 5C, a 12 frame normal. It's also her third best starter for combos, so you can get an idea of just how risky it is to do neutral teleports

At least he always traps me in his teleports half the time.

You're probably just not that used to it yet or don't know which buttons to press. I imagine Linne's 6C will work pretty well? Even if you get the wrong side, auto-correcting to 5C isn't a bad deal. The key is to watch for when Yuzu disappears. Immediately start mashing afterwards

Yeah, I usually just use my goto 2C and attempt to read it on something like teleport > CS and then whip it out if I can, which works about half the time I'd say.

Also, if he's doing neutral air teleports is when I just DP since that seems to be the most effective against that move (though sometimes it gets dodged). Otherwise, I'll either guess with 2C or block the follow up usually.

Now that I think about it, what you can do to practice and check ranges is set 3 training dummies to first do a neutral jump, then as soon as they land input 421X > 6C if ground or j.236A if in the air. Have the playback set to random and see if you can find any normals that cover all 3 teleports

Maybe I ought to explain all the stuff I do as Yuzu that I notice work particularly well on you while you're here

j.6C is basically Yuzu's low crush. It beats out lows that the opponent throws out. I tend to do this very frequently after 2C > 5A whiff because I know you and others like to mash there. This does lose against things that have a "mid-type" hitbox like 5B or 5C, but people tend to do lows since they're crouch blocking.

236B > CS opens you up I want to say practically every single time. You are stuck in blockstun for a long time when I do this, so don't mash unless you have balls of steel and are 100% confident I'm not going to try to meaty. Getting hit by 2C here is easily 3k for an unoptimized combo. In general, special > CS you have to sit back and block. Don't try challenging it or you'll get blown up

4B meaty I like to do after hitting you with my own reversal since I know people love to do revenge DPs. VO and IW(EXS) work since it's so slow it won't trigger the parry activation, but without those you can beat it by either 2A mash or simply blocking if you're unsure

In general I've noticed that you're very aggressive when it comes back to taking your turn on defense. This isn't necessarily bad because it does force me to check what frametraps work against you and what doesn't, but just be wary of going too crazy

Cool, I appreciate all the help m8. Patience is definitely my biggest flaw I feel that puts me in the disadvantage state more than half the time so it's a hard habit to brake but I'll keep at it.

Well I suppose this is worth mentioning but before you used to use stance-dodge more on my divekicks and air kuugas and give a pretty n ice punish but now it seems you've defaulted to either getting hit, blocking or trying to anti-air with 5C with some slashes here and there.
