I like Metroid. Please come talk at me about Metroid
Do you think we'll see Prime 4 at E3? I'm currently replaying the Trilogy and having a blast. I'm about 30% of the way into Prime 2. Fusion is my favorite game in the series

I doubt MP4 will be shown at E3. They started over from scratch in January. I was really disappointed. But, that's just me. I've been wrong many times before and I will be wrong many more times. Shoot, I thought Shovel Knight would make it to Smash as a playable fighter. I hoped... and thought... but I was wrong
>I like metroid
>posts ZSS, the shit that nearly killed the series
but this is the only reason the series is worth anything?
What about just an update and maybe some concept art? I'm dying for any news.
Do you think Prime 4 will use the Switch's gyro controls?
I post attractive women to get people to post in my threads. If I post concept art or game screenshots the thread dies. You may not like it but you can't deny it works.
Yes. I think you will have the option to turn it off/on like in Splatoon
They will not show anything Metroid related at this year's e3. No Prime Trilogy, no Metroid 5, and certainly no Prime 4. E3 2017 was a needle in a haystack, diamond in the rough, and I certainly will not make the mistake of thinking it will happen again within the next 2 years, at minimum.
And Ultimate ZSS would be perfect without the heels
SAMUS LOOK OUT
I'd rather the thread die than pander to people who have never even touched Metroid. *cough*smash fans*cough*
I would at least like a development update.
What if I'm a metroid and smash fan though.
Reminder that Samus has superstrength as evidenced by multiple feats both in and outside of her suit making her canonically strong
I lost interest after they made Samus a dumb weak waifu bimbo.
You mean 1 game?
hmm
that's kind of an awkward way to hide behind cover
I never understood the Fusion suit. Is that the X Parasite stretched over her Varia suit?
>Do you think we'll see Prime 4 at E3?
I'd give it a 25% chance at best, but I would be pleasantly surprised by it.
>I'm currently replaying the Trilogy and having a blast. I'm about 30% of the way into Prime 2.
Prime 2 was fun, if particularly difficult at times. Never got around to playing Prime 3...
>Fusion is my favorite game in the series
I'm not sure I have a definitive favorite in the franchise, but I do have fond memories of Zero Mission.
I believe we'll see Metroid 5 t E3, not Prime 4.
Everyone knows this though.
I'm not expecting much in way of Prime 4. Maybe a post conference acknowledgement like "development is under way" but no large scale focus. I'm moreso hoping for a Trilogy port or remaster. But if they fully remade them...!
I don’t think we’ll see it. I feel like Prime 4 is dead in the water and Nintendo is desperately trying to make it seem like it’s not.
I’m expecting a trilogy port for the switch to be revealed at e3.
is there going to be a compilation for the switch? never played a metroid before
3DS development seems dead in the water.
If the guys who made the Metroid 2 remake get another game, would they move to the switch?
I'd like another 2D metroid.
It's bait for AC fag
Yes.
play NEStroid, you plebs
Don't play it.
Already did and love it, my first Metroid game.
based and redpilled
this doesnt happen in every room, but yes, its a flaw
Listen, metroid on the nes is pointlessly frustrating. Has zero QOL and a ton of bad design choices.
Much of its design was carried over from the arcade days where the games were designed to take your money by being difficult. A good game? Sure. As good as modern design choices? Fuck no.
Should they remake Super or never touch it?
I would also
It's better that you don't, he's a raging autist with a hate boner for all things samus
>Should they remake Super or never touch it?
It doesn't need it.
Super is fine as is, some argue that it's perfect. I don't necessarily agree with that, but if you remake a game it should be better than the original in every way. For a good remake, see zero mission. It's too easy, but otherwise, an incredibly great game that improved the original in every way.
The only thing I would really change is needing to do so much grinding for life. If you started with more life after death or enemies just dropped more then it would fix a whole lot of things
Yeah the pacing is absolute dogshit, in part because of the pickup system. I'm fine with a punishing game, but I felt punished for the most contrived bullshit that I can't pull myself to beat it ever again.
I doubt we get anything of Prime 4, Trilogy at best in that regard, and least the first one.
I do hope for Metroid 5 at least, Sakamoto been quiet since Samus Returns, and he has nothing to do with Prime 4 after all. I can do with a Samus Returns port for Switch, but I doubt it, Nintendo hasn't made any real 3DS HD port of their own so far.
IA Adam Is gonna be in the next Metroid.
How you guys feel about that?.
I kind of agree, but at the same time, I wouldn't oppose. More than once, I see some poeple get turn off for the first impression of Super and how it feels, spcially when you compare it with Fusion and Zero. But again, this is just how the game feels, not the overall game, and you get used to it rather quickly.
I'm glad that nintendo had the balls to restart development for prime 4, it's a huge loss in both money and time. I'm sure that we'll see prime 4 eventually, but not at this e3. No way.
I can live with that, I endure him in Fusion no problem, and is still better than the real one, is just an IA after all.
Besides, there is a good chance the Feds kill the IA anyway, or maybe the new Ridley (whatever it may be this time), to keep the tradition of him killing anything Samus cares about.
This game is sick
you think I can't both like metroid and also to jerk off?
>what if I lied over the internet
Hmmm...
Samus: It was only later that I learned the identity of my attacker: the parasitic organism we now know as X. Unaware of my condition, I was returning to the station when disaster struck.
(Camera shows Samus falling unconscious due to the X attacking her nervous system)
Samus: Once the X had infested my central nervous system, I lost consciousness and my ship drifted into an asteroid belt.
(Samus' gunship drifts into an asteroid belt and crashes)
(Camera pans up showing two Federation scientists at Galactic Federation HQ)
Samus: The ship's emergency systems automatically ejected the escape pod before impact. Biologic's vessel recovered it and transported me to Galactic Federation HQ.
(Camera shows Samus' Power Suit covered in slime and surgical tubes)
Samus: However, during the journey, the X multiplied within me, corrupting large areas of my Power Suit.
(Camera pans back showing Samus' full Power Suit)
Samus: It then came to light that the organic components of my Power Suit had become so integrated with my system that it could not be removed while I was unconscious. Large portions of my suit had to be surgically removed, dramatically altering my physical appearance. However, the X in my central nervous system were too embedded to be removed safely. I was given a minimal chance of survival.
(Camera focuses on a scientist's hand holding a tube with some sort of liquid inside)
Samus: Then, someone found a cure.
(Camera shows a diagnostic screen of a Metroid vaccine)
Samus: They proposed using a Metroid cell to make an anti-X vaccine. It seems that the Federation had managed to preserve a cell culture from the last infant Metroid from SR388. The serum was prepared and injected without delay.
(Camera displays a microscopic inner view into Samus' nervous system where six X parasites float around)
Samus: The X parasites were immediately and completely destroyed.
(The X parasites disappear)
(Camera pans up, revealing Samus' new Fusion Suit design)
Anyone here remember when we used to have really fucking comfy late-night Metroid and Zelda threads all the damn time? I used to post in both and it was some of the best discussion I've had on this board. This was probably 5+ years ago by now.
>i totally like Metroid, honest
>*discussion of Metroid without titties and ass happens*
>REEEEEEEE
Something tells me you're being a liar.

Why is that?
who the fuck is reeing? get the fuck out falseflagger, you don't tell anyone whether or not you like a game
I legit find out about Metroid due to Smash 64 when I was a kid. I was really curious as to who was that Robot Samus "guy" back then, I almost bought Fusion as soon as I could.
OP here. That's not me. My posts have all been relevant
I'm not though.
Quite frankly, it's a big unknown. There are two major supported theories.
The first being that the Fusion Suit is a partial rebuild using Federation technology, after large chunks were removed.
The second being that the Fusion Suit was always there, that it was a under armor layer that became exposed as pieces of the Power Suit were removed, and that because of it's bio-tech nature and ability to reconfigure itself, did so to repair certain extraneous damage, which explains why things such as the helmet have such drastically different designs.
There's also another theory similar to the above in that the Power Suit mutated into it's current form due to the introduction of Metroid DNA into Samus' system.
Anytime someone posts a Metroid thread without zero suit, people immediately attack the OP Poster as a troll or a shitposter. They then spam the thread until 404.
Worse yet, for people who are supposedly fans, you sure are quick to get angry over anyone who thinks the series is flawed and needs fixing.
Oh it's Doug. Should've known, I'm getting sloppy
There are two posibilities here.
One, if a troll pretending to be a very notorious troll in the Metroid fandom. In this case you will find yourself in dead end, well are it's replys will be "Samus equals porn, equal bad game, you bad person". This is the best case scenario.
If in the other hand is the actual real deal, then you have more of the same, but adding an preachy behaviour, and a victim complex, who will start preaching about his actual visions as to how make Metroid and videogames better, by removing any trace of plot and character. And he believes on this so strongly, that arguing with him is an invitation to madness.
Ignore the shitposters. We've had a good thread so far
So the blue parts are just areas of the suit that were corrupted by the X Parasite but not visible until Samus was given the cure?
The last Zelda thread I saw that was actually decent, about three months ago with reasonable discussion and no ridiculous flamewars or unbridled anger or anything, ironically started with a cute Saria pic
...
>preaching about his actual visions as to how make Metroid and videogames better, by removing any trace of plot and character.
This is what's wrong with the industry though. Go into any switch thread, and you'll have people praising it because it's the only console not succumbing to the plague of "movieshit". Why the sudden change?
At best we'll see Dread next year.
>If the guys who made the Metroid 2 remake get another game, would they move to the switch?
Sakamoto basically confirmed that's already happened and they're doing Dread.
Yeah, it was actually in development during Samus Returns development.
I really wish you targeted threads that actually deserve to be derailed.
Most likely the blue parts are just the Federation attempt to recreate the missing parts of the suit by their own. Remember that in canon, only the Chozo can recreate the Suit.
Side effect of the Metroid Vaccine.
I thought this game was dead as fuck. Holy shit. If it's been in development for so long could we see it this year?
Derailed? I'm the only one ITT actually talking about Metroid without jerking off to porn. And that's all I want from the series: for it to be good without pandering to the waifufags who hate Metroid. Why is this such a bad thing?
Oh shit! there's a huge possibility!
I really wish people listened to the warnings to not reply to him!
In other order of matters. We know all know the Rogue Chozo are the next Villains for Metroid 5, but while we all agree Sylux for Prime 4 equals an anti goverment criminal (fuck the feds) that we must hunt down, but what would mean for Metroid 5 to have the Chozo as enemies now? And how could it actually change the level design of the game now, if not the gameplay?
Also, 3D Boss fight with Kraid on Prime 4, yay or nay?
No, Sakamoto said back in 2010 that if Dread ever came back, he'd remake it from scratch and MS is making it after SR. We're still at least another year or two out.
wasn't Dread cancelled in 2002? if so that is a LONG ass time for any company to try to make something of a game, like FF XV in time scales.
(not a dis on XV, it's just well known how tumultuous it's development was)
>I'm the only one ITT actually talking about Metroid without jerking off
Are you actually fucking blind?
I mean, is not that weird, Sakamoto tends to just dissapear between game to game. I mean, who ever had any idea of Samus Returns in all the years that went since Other M?
I just hope they announce metroid 5 with actual gameplay, we can't take another teaser after Prime 4.
I can see Samus getting new Chozo weapons and abilities never before see and finally be on a new Chozo planet for once.
Don't.
There is no such thing as Metroid dread. I want to believe that Nintendo is working on it, but just like Metroid Prime 4, they'll find a convenient excuse to cancel it and "restart development" (aka bullshit their way through PR sessions and pretend they care).
I'll believe it once I actually see a trailer and gameplay footage is shown.
user
user stop
this is who we were warning you about
No, just in development hell, I believe the development restarted in 2015 or 2016 and since has been coming along smoothly, by 2017 it was already in early production.
I see zero suit porn left and right, and I see people jerking off to how much they love Samus as a mother figure. Please, point me to someone who is discussing Metroid without attacking me for suggesting a few changes to the series.
2005. It was meant to be a DS game developed by Intelligent Systems.
The "fun" thing about Dread is that, it was never officially announced, and never officially cancelled, but it's existence and cancellation were both confirmed.
Dread as it was ceace to exist a long time ago, heck, as far as we know, part of it may have been used for either Other M, Samus Returns or both. In any case, Sakamoto has move pass Dread too, and whatever it's working now must be using Samus Returns as a base.
Don't know about that if it's been in development during Samus Returns development.
Point taken
Early production in 2017? It's Two years later. So how long do these things usually take? I'm not to knowledgeable on development
No need to be so pesimistic, again, Prime 4 development has nothing to do with Sakamoto and any team he may be working with, Samus Returns was made, announce and release without major drama and with none of us being aware of it's existence until it's announcement.
Nintendo tried something new and weird with Prime 4 development and fail, but we at least can try to have hopes for the team who may be working on Metroid 5. Dread is dead thought, that game cease to exist long before even Other M was a thing, and again, as far as we know, parts of whatever it was may have been already being used on Other M, Samus Returns, or just forgotten about as far as we know.
and
is that development supposed to be for the switch? i mean to kind of answer my own question there is really no other nintendo console on the table to consider
>No need to be so pesimistic
I'll stop being pessimistic when I see an actual trailer for Prime 4. It doesn't have to be this year, but when they eventually do it, I expect actual gameplay footage and not just a damn number.
>Do you think we'll see Prime 4 at E3?
not a fucking chance
They SHOULD announce trilogy port, but they probably wont
They wouldn't possibly do another 3ds game would they? Persons Q 2 is supposed to be one of the last games for the handheld, yes?
The rumors of Dread are extremely old, again, older than even Other M as far as I remember, since then Sakamoto already work in two different Metroid games, and Next Level got to make a prototype of a 2D metroid game completely different that then con rejected, just to then make Federation Force. Dread ceaced to exist al long time ago, but that doesn't mean there aren't other teams working with the franchise, and at least is clear Sakamoto has move past Dread already.
Could be out at the end of this year or early next year. 2016 could have been the new concept stages, 2017 could have been the early production if Samus Returns already had a hint of the plot, it's clear that it's been in development for a while. The Switch also takes longer to develop for since this will probably be $60.
He past Dread but not a sequel to Fusion, Dread was just a project name.
Nintendo already stated they are not developing more 3DS games, which after the sales of the last few came as not surprise. 3DS is oficially on the hands of third parties at this point.
it just may take a while
remember how everyone was literally questioning the existence of the FF7 remake, and square drops a second trailer like... four years later just to remind everyone it wasn't some mass hallucination. these things may take time
..... right guys?
That's what I mean, up in the thread there is some concern as to how Dread could come out after being in development hell for so long.
My point being, Dread is long dead now. the move pass it, and whatever the Metroid 5 may be once it comes (which I fully believe is coming sooner or later) most likely have nothing to do with Dread now. If there was anything worth saving from Dread's development, it must have been used on Samus Returns, but even that's unlikely dues to how different the developing teams were.
fuck it's been so long I don't even remember how "Dread" became the unofficial name for Metroid 5.
I still have an unopened Samus Returns sitting in my room. Bought last year. I will get to it, eventually... All those changes (warp rooms, counters, yuck) just made me less motivated to jump into it.
If there's one thing I wish a new Metroid game would do is actually blow all these indie shits out of the water. I am so SICK of indie metroidvanias completely missing the point of the 'genre,' or rather just going full-on Castlevania autism and think that rpg number grindan make it fun to walk through huge empty maps. It's like, no game gets it other than Metroid, and I haven't played a Metroid that's 'gotten' it for over a decade.
I'm angry that, after 9 years, Nintendo is still being so secretive and refusing to give their fans any assurance that they haven't forgotten them. They didn't show a single thing about Prime 4 for years, then silently cancel it without even apologizing. I'm just supposed to blindly support them and never question them. Yet I'm the crazy person if I don't believe Nintendo's lies.
In all honestly, I just need to see what was keeping Retro busy all this years, and it to be good, to have some faith back. Meanwhile I will just wait quietly for Metroid 5.
The thought of paying $60 for a 2D Metroid in the current year sounds bizarre. But as long as they put the money in then I'll buy it.
>I am so SICK of indie metroidvanias completely missing the point of the 'genre,'
I think you meant to say
>I'm so sick of indie metroidvanias completely outdoing Metroid at every turn
>All those changes (warp rooms, counters, yuck) just made me less motivated to jump into it
You'll have fun. I was worried going in too but it's just more Metroid. If it helps think of it as a reimagining of Metroid 2 and not a remake
do not reply
They, for once didn't cancel Prime 4, they restart development while openly APOLOGIZING about it. It's also being rumored (don't remember the source) to save Samus Returns from any backlash for being a 3DS exclusive after the mess that it was Federation Force announcement.
i looked into your eyes and knew you were my niggas
The changes are just there to make up for the short comings of Metroid 2, is somehow of a compromising of keeping the original idea, while adapting it to modern standards. Is still a great Metroid game none the less.
That feels like a dirty marketing gimmick. I don't like essentially being tricked after 9 years like that. And I ask you this: what'll happen if they cancel it again? I've already been burned after they advertised Megaman Legends 3 with Capcom, despite knowing that they would cancel it before the demo even came out. I don't want to go through that again.
Seriously though. What were they up to if they weren't busy with Prime 4? Maybe they're working on an F-Zero game?
>completely outdoing Metroid at every turn
in some ways this is true. Metroid is no longer the benchmark for the Metroidvania.
But most indie devs fill their maps with bloat and have nowhere near the amount of content or playability to justify their map sizes or exploration. Hollow Knight is a good example. They kept on adding more and more map segments, but by the end it's all the same shit and becomes a grind.
The reason Metroid games have 3-hour challenges is because the maps are mostly focused and cut out the fat (Metroid 1's awful vertical shafts notwithstanding).
yeah, I'll get to it. I think Metroid 2 is actually a great little game, so maybe I'm a little bitter at people saying it is so flawed as to be unplayable. The game is in some ways miles ahead of the first game, which is already a game I love.
hands down one of the best subspace sections
All I want to see is a Prime Trilogy HD. That will tide people over.
Agreed
I also agree.
I like this one
fantastically comfy thread lads, art and discussion abound.
Here is the thing, they wouldn't. Nintendo cancel games as any other company, quietly, sometimes with a quick announcement, and then move on. Some companies don't even announce they had cancel some projects and just wait until fans forget.
Nintendo could had just done that if they truly wanted to cancel the project (they had done it before after all), instead they did an open statement coming clean to the fandom, explaining the game wasn't cancel, but it has to restart development, and this time give us the name of the studio to track down progress from now on (Granted, being Retro this was mostly just to calm us down). The point being, the put themselves into the spot light with this announcement, and now they NEED to deliver, Retro's offices could burn right now, and they couldn't cancel the game still.
For better or for worse, Nintendo put themselves in a position where they have to release a Metroid Prime game, they have no option from a PR stand point. At the fact they had decide to take this risk of exposing themselves to the public like this, even if it was just to avoid the leaks about the games development, at least shows the actually care for once.
>Maybe they're working on an F-Zero game?
user, please... I can't...
Again, I'll give them that benefit once they show an actual game. It's not my responsibility to mindlessly support them.
>F-Zero
In all honestly, what is that robot hand on Reggie's parting gift from Retro? It has to be a finish product ready to go out, otherwise is a really weird and crappy thing to add to a parting gift!
not sure about the face on this one, but i do like the aesthetic of the armor kind of assembling on her like that
how did this dumb idea get so many volumes??
it shows at the very least that they're afraid of having another Other M on their hands.
I mean, if Manga has teach me anything over the years, is that the more dumb the idea, the longer the run.
Zero Suit was a mistake. You couldn't even be bothered to post discussion with these images. Come on.
Retro has something in the works aside from Metroid Prime 4. They are notoriously tight lipped though.
i'm having a pretty good time digging up some solid art of her and the suit. i'll drop a few
It may be dumb, but it was also awesome
Joke's on you, is also and . Fag.
You know what? Fair enough. My bad. I just want the suffering to end
Easily the best discussion I've had on Yea Forums in over a year
I really like artists who put both in the shot. Speaking of. What do you think maintenance on the suit is like?
>lying on the internet
For what purpose?
let him be, he'll get bored and go away again. look how many posts went by without any shitstirring
I do miss the days before the Zero Suit too, but lets be honest, this design wouldn't pass this days.
Any bets as to how they will handle Ridley from now one? Is anyone guess if they will ever bring him back after Fusion, or at least how. But Retro now has to figure out how we went from the explosion of Omega, to Proteous. In any case, really looking forward to a Ridley boss battle in the current gen, no matter if it's is Metroid 5 or Prime 4.
samus aran looks like a taimanin slut
>tfw I was writing fanfics nearly a decade ago about evil Chozo and Samus stopping them
>now it's actually true, sorta
weird feeling to be honest
Some weird about this pic.....
oooh, here's a real gritty one
>Do you think we'll see Prime 4 at E3?
Absolutely not.
Uh, it's possible we'll get concept art, but when they announced the delay they specifically said it could be a while before we saw the game again. Don't get your hopes up.
post em
I don't want Ridley in the next game. Not because I don't like him, I think he's cool. but he's been in every single Metroid bar Prime 2. Can't we go a little while without him? I feel the same about the stupid zero suit. We could go without that too. We don't need to constantly see her outside of her suit. What was wrong with how Prime handled it?
On the current canon, the suit seems to be bio organic somehow (Or just bid magic, but lets say bio organic), so it may be able to repair itself... which may explain why Samus recovers from the bio energy left behind by her enemies.
i can't think of which part of the story inspired this one, but still a pretty dope look
Another thought for Prime 4. Assuming the pirates are still involved, anyone thinks we will get a tease of Mother Brain? For being such an important part of the lore, she barely gets any play, and we are in a point of the timeline, where after the fiasco of Dark Samus, the Pirates need to rebuild Mother just in time for Super.
Congrats, you have mastered photoshop.
The file says Fusion, so it's either a Samus fully consumed by the X, or the an interpretation of Sa-X without the helment... which contrary to Dark Samus should actually be canon, we at least know there is something behind the visor.
I don't think I ever want metroid to go that dark. Samus always seems really capable and that's what I like about her. There she just looks defeated.
Great thread anons. I hope the discussion continues while I sleep.
nothing really wrong with Prime's approach. that said, it is possible to expand on what it tried to do, which i think was the goal in the first place seeing as how ridley wasn't the only villain
as for samus outside the suit, gameplay wise it is unlikely to happen, and if it does, so long as the original devs are handling it, based on their past work they'll do her gameplay integration just fine. let fanart take care of the rest
No because MB is harder to ass pull constant revivals for and Super established her return as a surprise.
Whatever, you double nigger. Stay in denial. Don't bother replying, I'm done with you.
fucking hell, the original file is a massive beast. settle for this one fellas
I hope Prime 4 has the same low key sense of humor as the first three games. I still get a chuckle out of the pirate logs.
They were all on the Metroid Database forums. Checking the site, it looks like not only are the forums "temporarily" closed, but you can't even view old topics! Is this another old forum casualty? Damn, how am I supposed to read the cringy shit I wrote as a teenager?
Like I said before, I don't hate Ridley. I'd love to see him in a future installment. However, if you look at Mario and Kirby and Zelda, they all get to take a break from their respective villains. From Smithy, to Majora, to whatever it is Kirby fights, it's not always ganon and dedede making trouble.
Dude, I randomly recalled the scene after Thardus where a pebble hits Samus's helmet, and she whips around to check behind her. I seriously just thought of it for no god damn reason at work and had a sensible chuckle to myself.
>pirate logs
Oh right that reminds me. We're missing something ITT
I'm going to be honest, I've yet to play a Metroid game and really only like Samus because I'm a degenerate waifufag, but I really want to get into the series soon and am hoping the Prime trilogy comes to Switch at some point because I want to see what I've been missing out on. What are some other essential Metroid games I should play?
I'm sure it will.
I wish they would release a wii mote, nunchuck, and wii motion bar adapter for switch or mouse and keyboard support
My favorite recommendation would be emulated Metroid Prime, on dolphin, with KBM controls enabled. The first one is the best because it has no disgusting sex fanservice in it. Also, it's a solid game on its own rights.
Super Metroid
Super Metroid
Super Metroid
i actually haven't gotten around to the 3ds one (i never owned one) but i hear it's pretty good
holy shit, this one wins
Play Super and Prime 1. If you don't like either of them then you probably won't like the others.
a bit lewd, but a soothing ambience and colors. fanservice is not immediately a bad thing, friends.
>fanservice isn't a bad thing
>no gameplay discussion whatsoever
back to the action
Best 2D boss.
People give Fusion a lot of shit but I think it had better designed boss fights than most of the other 2D games on average.
Fusion bosses were so Good
Samus is hotter with the armour on desu desu senpai
Will add these to the list, thanks!
I'll definitely give them a fair shot
>Prime 4 at E3?
I'd love to hope so but didn't they scrap and start over with its development? No idea how far along it might be by now
>30% into prime 2
I could never get into prime 2. After 100%ing prime 1 I loved that game, but prime 2 just felt so awkward, I hated the ammo system
>Fusion is my favorite game
Fusion was pretty good too. My favorite was super metroid, or prime 1
eyo james cameron, heard you liked alien atmospheres
get on this shit
not bad kid
Fusion bosses are some of the best-designed in the 2D series, but their big flaw is that they are all almost far too easy and go down too quickly. Fusion's difficulty in general is poorly balanced with it being really easy with about two giant spikes.
Super's bosses are simple as shit (Draygon: move left to right; Ridley: bounce the fuck around) but they all had enough health and damage-dealing to make the fights last a long time and feel like an endurance test.
I wish a Metroid series had bosses with movement and patterns like the BOX (the spider mech in Fusion) with the durability and uniqueness of Phantoon or Draygon.
speaking of that lucrative crossover potential
this one is very highly detailed, that bottom right logo is making me think this might be some official commission or concept art??
the important thing isn't to discuss metroid, it's to whine about fanart and people who like latex titty.
Anyone has the pic of Samus in her home drinking something like a beer?
Just finished prime trilogy, pretty good. I've already beaten the GC version of prime before so I saved it for last. Did they make the game easier or something, I noticed that the fish boss and boost ball guardian were easier than normal.
I try to discuss Metroid, but I always get shouted down.

this is a very nice thread right now, don't respond to the bait
Ridley almost never feels like a real fight in the 2D games. Just a giant hitbox bouncing around the screen faster and faster.
they toned down the difficulty in a lot of places for the trilogy. Boost Ball guardian being the big one. As a teen that thing gave me so much trouble.
kys frogshit
>YWN be hugged by Samus.
Why live?
>constantly portraying Samus as a skimpy and weak waifu who needs a man's help
Whoever drew this is not a true Metroid fan.
I think Samus is too autistic to hug people
Oh really I never died once on the boost ball boss, it was the fish that kicked my ass all the time, on the trilogy version I don't think I even died once to any boss
A woman can be gorgeous and a badass.
I think the reason why Samus will never give user a hug is because user and Samus exist in different realities.
I kinda like that about him, lol
Zero Mission tries to rectify this but because the game is so disgustingly easy Ridley dies in 2 seconds any way, it doesn't work. I don't know how these GBA games feel so easy even when you do low% challenges (I did a 9% or a 15% and it was still not enough!). Metroid is supposed to be hard, or at least FEEL hard.
Samus has the good kind of autism though. The kind that makes her hyper lethal
>muh true fan elite status
Having her with no muscle mass, constantly being raped by space pirates, and asking to be saved by a man, is far from my idea of "badass".
god i love pacific rim. i loved this find
user, just stop, you're embarassing yourself.
Are you ever going to learn?
Stop giving him (You)'s
i don't think this scene has been done in a 3d game right? it's a neat angle
throwing a bone to the smash fans, one of them even said 64 introduced him to metroid. good for him.
I'm being serious right now. Tell me why I should only like porn images, instead of yearning for actual gameplay discussion. How can I appreciate Metroid when every other image is some fetish fuel that doesn't even tie into the games?
The SR varia suit looks so nice, I wish smash bros ultimate used it.
Beging with, Zero Mission, then play Samus Returns, then Super Metroid,. You can get them all free on a hacked 3DS.
After that play the Prime trilogy if you have a Wii. I don't recommend playing the rest of the series they aren't worth it.
light suit is best suit
While I enjoyed SR okay enough, I want the next 2D game to go back to ZM-type movement. And also spritework but I know that's a lost cause at this point
don't know how many more pics i have left, that really nice well i had is starting to run dry
Hollow Knight is barely a metroidvania, though. It's way too focused on combat.
samus got her hands on some jenova i guess
Yes, and? Castlevania had plenty of combat, that doesn't mean it's not a metroidvania.
the sheer dopeness of this art is going to have to override that watermark in the middle
maybe someone can reverse search a cleaner one later
Thing is: what is a metroidvania. The reason I prefer metroid over castlevania is because outside of bosses I am not stopping every fucking room in my exploration to deal with enemies with stereotyped patterns of attack, but rather I am exploring. And one of the biggest flaws of Return of Samus is that in order to advace in the early parts you almost have to wait until the enemy does the counterable attack to just damage it.
I believe most indie Metroidvania games are far more Vania than Metroid, and while that's not a bad thing in and out of itself, for me at least it misses the larges part of what make the genre great in the first place: progress based exploration AND backtracking.
>seen every single piece of non-ZSS fanart in this thread hundreds of times over
Idk if I just spend too much time scouring the internet for it or if there's just that little Metroid fanart to begin with.
and with this one i reach the last of the nice art i could find. hopefully the other anons who went to sleep come back to a nice collection tomorrow. as for me, i'm off.
thanks for the super cozy thread anons, it's been really something
Hollow Knight isn't guilty of that though? Yes, enemies that are larger do require a certain pattern to be beaten, but when you know your way around the world, they never outright stop you from exploring.
Something about this picture is off to me...
Could they have made ZSS look different in order for her sexuality to not draw so much attention?
did all the other discussers leave? i mean, i love the art but the chitchat started slowing down
maybe we just need the prime 4, nintendo
Tell that to whoever decided to put her in a bikini for 100% completion in the original metroid.
It's really just that there's little to nothing to discuss at this point. Only way these threads are gonna liven up is if something happens soon.
Hoping against hope here, Nintendo. E3 next week
Ever see this?
Which of these is most sexualized and why?
well if any decent chunk of them were americans they're probably sleeping
not that i'm one to talk, i'm also a burger but i'm also a NEET night owl that stays up to dawn
Who would you want to direct a Metroid movie? Who should play Samus?
Or this?
pretty fuckin sweet
this whole thread has been one massive restoration of my hope for this site
I rather just have a CGI movie.
Aside from the degenerate waifufags at least.
Okay I just joined the thread to see if ACfags showed up. Haven’t read any posts except OP. Let’s see...
Cameron? i was kind joking here but you gotta admit avatar is already very alien planety, and he's got his terminator action chops
>being so gay he doesn't appreciate sexy ZSS
>calls other people degenerate
How you told your dad yet?
It's literally the only reason Metroid is still around.
>he doesn't appreciate the cancer that murdered metroid in cold blood
Gee, it's hard to like something when it only does you harm.
Yep, second reply. Cool. His autism knows no bounds
>
>people actually replying to him
Would anyone rather just have a Metroid animated movie?
being a fire emblem fan has made me hear this EXACT phrase enough times to fill the pages of the goddamn bible
sucks to be you that you can't even enjoy a good game, a good story, and a hot character that goes with it, you poor miserable autist
>Metroid: Other M
>good game
>good story
Of course. I just made my post because of that fake article of Brie Larson saying she wants to play Samus. Plus reminded me so I thought I would bring it up.
an animated movie would be fine, but despite live action being extremely risky it could bring a really interesting and immersive take on all the settings, creatures, lore etc in the games so far
but like i said, extremely risky, since we've all seen what happens to videogame movies at this point
He's busy in another thread getting assblasted. Don't summon him.
Yes, but please not StudioFOW
Yes, and I'd unironically have Brie Larson in it. I don't want some dumb bimbo playing the part, or they'll be too busy playing up her sex appeal.
>female sex appeal
>in current year modern day hollywood
Oh, don't be fooled. they'll happily throw in sex appeal. But it'll be the kind that celebrates diversity and other virtue signaling checkmarks.
for me, it is the ass of samus
>Implying they wouldn't cast Samus as a black transgender kween with heavy battle scars and a missing arm
We don't need a Metroid movie in current Hollywood.
Which one?
smash bros for wii u ass
I hope you die in your sleep.
braaaaaap
It is pretty good
I think I would prefer that over
are you from Ireland by any chance?
Have some OC bb
I really want to see Prime 2/3's Varia Suit in a new HD game.
or in a remastered trilogy, just saying
I'm actually from the land of "people who like metroid for non-degenerate reasons". It's an obscure little nation.
You don't have to be from potato country to dislike fat butts
obscure enough that your franchise fuckin died lmao
>Seen every single one of these
It's ok, thanks guys
I got a new Metroidvania to hold me over, so it's all cool senpai.
even though the third guy specifically said OC??
Savage.
If he made it then he's posted it before. I remember seeing it in one of these threads and saving it a little while back
Do anyone here use a metroid rep in smash?
I am very fond of ZZSamus, but I can't make click with the normal Samus. What's the trick?
Pic unrelated
>I can't make with normal samus
I see now why everyone hates Metroid Prime so much, if they can't even play the games without titties constantly in their face.
blessed af image
Hope we fight Space Pirates, Metroids, possibly X, and rogue Chozo in Metroid 5.
>calls it bait when the post literally said that he hated power suit samus
I personally just suck with projectiles. It's much easier to for me unga with speedy aerials and grounded normals and trap people in a vortex with ther forward throw with ZZS, than to spam projectiles with regular samus.
I never liked how normal Samus played at all, lots of keep away and projectile game. ZSS is just so much more speedy, aggressive and fun. Can't help you really.
Main Ridley with a secondary Samus. Funnily enough ZSS is the one I can't make click; I think part of it is because of how precise you need to be with your movements with her, but I know part of it is definitely because she doesn't feel at all like Metroid to me. I feel like if they took ZSS out and replaced her with Fusion Suit Samus with a similar playstyle to ZSS I'd be pretty happy
It's just as I feared, people now hate Metroid for not being Bayonetta.
well there's you're problem
samus is deceptive in that people think she's projectiles, but her presence is surprisingly physical, coming from grabs into aerials (or even a low powered charge shot for confirms)
leave projectiles to the other guy
Bayo actually doesn't spam speedy aerials, currently she jus baits for a combo starter in the ground and prays you don't know how to DI. Due to her everything being a combo tool, she actually ended up having a shitty neutral, whereas ZSS has a much stronger neutral and relies on much smaller combos with certain killthrows.
I know you're baiting, but I just like talking smash.
... you said pic unrelated?
How's her neutral?
>baiting because I like power suit Samus
Yeah, because heaven forbid someone have a differing viewpoint. I'm so sorry I view Metroid as something other than fap bait.
Projectile based characters are insanely easy to learn, and I have nothing but contempt and pity for people who can't learn them. Literally GIT GUD.
The Fusion suit looks like shit, though. I don't want them to change a thing about how Samus and ZSS are, they feel entirely appropriate to me as reps and in playstyle. I'm gonna keep practicing with Dark Samus, but in terms of straight up play style I don't think I enjoy anyone in Smash more than ZSS.
neutral b and down b are pressure tools, and side b is just for forcing approaches from those pesky campers. if they shield or reflect you can bait those and punish with a grab into down throw and uair at low to mid percents, or knock them back with fair. if you have neutral b charged, you can use it, or follow up with a dash attack. unfortunately combos out of dash are limited from sm4sh, so this is also a low-mid percent move. its a bit finnicky
Here's an edit for no real reason
This?
... why not?
then you are one of the 10 guys who actually main regular samus
>trying to take the moral highground
>whilw using buzzwords instead of talking gameplay
oh the irony
Yes.
>The Fusion suit looks like shit
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Down B? how do you pressure with that?
>taking the bait
You should know better when he leaps to illogical conclusions and can't read, retard. Stop giving (you)s.
be sure not to let him goad you any more user
it's more useful against rushdowns, but in general it causes low enough knockback that unprepared approaches can lead into a an aerial punish. think of it as a disruptor or discourager, definitely not a spammable like snake's b
Why are you talking about Smash in a metroid thread to begin with? Don't you have 50+ smash threads to infest?
sorry, I was having fun. Just found out this fucker in the other thread he made that he genuinely thought Return of Samus was on the 3DS to deliberately tank sales so the series would stay story-driven like Other M as opposed to gameplay driven.
no worries, this is a comfy thread for all metroid lovers from all walks. just don't take the obvious baits like some have. most haven't, which is why the thread was chill so far
>I was having fun pretending to be retarded
On Yea Forums I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
I've gone scouring. How about this?
Yeah. I have a couple others from that artist too, forgot the name though
???!
That one's new. Looks pretty nice
What in-game characterization does Samus receive outside of Other M?
There's body language in cutscenes. Are there scans/log entries where she personally comments/passes judgement on things?
Don't you go falseflagging now. Hollow Knight and Metroid are good for each other. If Samus could, she'd take care of a terrarium full of magical bugs if she wanted to, just like she would have that Baby Metroid.
Hollow Knight is one of the few that do it right, the rest are just non linear platformers.
There's no real explicit characterization in text form until Fusion. All the logs and scans in the Prime games are about other things or from other characters perspectives about her. Like the pirates freaking the fuck out or the Samus fangirl in the Federation team that got fucked by the Ing. In the Prime games it's most stuff like and then before that and Fusion, it's even more subtle. Much more interpreting actions like maybe saving the animals or how you think about THE BABY. Zero Mission has the bit where you see what's heavily implied to be child Samus's scribbles on the wall of her and her Chozo parents.
seems the lady doth protest too much
the frog has a point though
i think this is one of the better redesigns out there.
Making the suit more futuristic and less like a latex suit while not making her unattractive on purpose
Who was the one that said ALL indie vanias were "missing the point"?
I'm just saying, Hollow Knight and Metroid have true wholesome potential dammit.
I'm still mad there's a severe lack of Metroid-Hollow Knight art out there
Yesssss
was fighting that boss while half asleep years ago. matching its face melt made me nauseous. Only time a game was able to do that
is it possible to play metroid prime trilogy with mouse and keyboard in dolphin
Such an improvement over the garbage Gamecube and Wii controls. I'm finally coming home.
>ctr f feather pubes

guys...
neat
>metroid prime only runs at 40-50fps
someday
Zero Mission
Samus Returns or AM2R
Prime Trilogy
Super Metroid
Fusion
That's the story's chronological order if I'm not mistaken.
Samus is a CGI armor the whole movie
Then in a post-credit scene (about 20 to 30 seconds long) Jennifer Aniston or someone that looks alike appears drinking something without wearing the armor (it should be visible in the scene though) and says "See you in the next mission" to the camera
This is the only phrase she's said in the whole movie
It would be a lot of work to express some emotions (like anger, despair, confidence, all when/if needed) just with body language
Although Samus wouldn't talk in almost the whole movie other characters would talk
recently got a SNES classic for cheap but never played a metroid game, what am i in for with super metroid?
really all i know is that it's a big maze and you shoot aliens
I don't think we'll see Prime 4 this year - which is for the best. Let them show it when there's something worth showing closer to what we'll actually be getting I say. I think the Prime trilogy might get ported but they might wait until they're closer to Prime 4's release.
That said, they announced Samus Returns out of nowhere so they could have a 2D game on the go, I guess we just don't know.
The thing with both styles of Metroid game however is that there is now very stiff competition in these formerly 'niche' styles of games. Whatever new form Metroid takes it will have to come out firing off on all cylinders or it will have been overtaken by games that were inspired by it. Games like Subnautica, Doom 2016, Bioshock etc. have made atmospheric explorable alien worlds with excellent core gameplay.
Games like Hollow Knight, Rainworld, Dead Cells etc. have done the same in 2D space.
For me the Metroid games at their best have THE best atmosphere and worlds to explore, the combat isn't the core for me, the exploration and immersion of visiting a hostile alien world is what makes them so great. The art direction is near unparalleled, it was save for the team ico games, but all of these elements are now being done well by other games so Metroid has a real tall order.
Zero suit in Zero mission was a great surprise and a compelling addition to the game. I know people get their knickers in a twist about her but I don't mind the idea, some of the art is great too [pic related: best zero suit fan art by DrunkRadio, amazing atmosphere and art direction] and there's no reason a heroine can't be sexy or attractive, the issue is when they are made trashy and exploitative.
A big maze where you shoot aliens.
