Don't kid yourself. You would never go hiking even if you went hiking and you were the one doing it.

>enjoy nature
it's literally just a bunch of rocks and dry bushes

I GOT SPURS

Well you probably wouldn't have a direct line to a water pipe in the house maybe, you'd probably have a reservoir or something. Sewer access for waste disposal is another thing too and you might need a septic tank. Dunno though I don't live there.

You don't know me or my life, user. I might hike all the time for all you know. Actually I'm a fat ass weeb manchild that hates the sun and never leaves his house.

small towns in the south west suck ass, don't bother

This is how most Americans live, they have to drive down miles of suburban copypaste to get to fucking anything. It's got all the inconvenience of living in a rural area, but you're still surrounded by people on all sides

So is Nevada.

I've been to many of the places in Fallout NV. It is a lot funner when you're familiar with the places.

I use to ride that big roller coaster as a kid. The one that is at the hotel in the game. It was the biggest roller coaster in the world at the time.

Unironically, desert camping in this part of the world (Mojave) is fun as fuck. There are dried lake salt flats that I camp on and have bon fires, muh boys will bring ice chests full of beer, dirt bikes, guns... at night we'll cook sausages on the fire and get wasted. In the mornings we cook bacon then race on the dirt bikes to the nearest mountain to go target shooting with our glocks and shotguns.

Faggot 4channers that never leave their basement would never know how much fun this shit is.

Attached: Du97DXHU8AATySm.jpg (248x325, 26K)

Eh from other pictures i've seen it doesn't all seem to look like that but I don't live in the US so I dunno i'll take your word for it mate. Even the suburbs here in Aus you can generally find a small corner of shops for basic groceries or eating establishments that are within relatively good walking distance or an extremely quick short drive like 5 minutes or less. Fuck me i'd go fucking mental living in a place like that pic there though.

why would i need to leave my basement when i could do it in my vidyer game

>muh desert shithole so comfy

Must be pretty kino to live by those big hills
I'd like to visit American deserts

Massive ones maybe sure but there can easily be some light commerical stores that wouldn't have any negative impact on the area. Like a small grocery store or a deli or even a bakery wouldn't be too bad for the area. Also you don't want public places too far away either because you want places where your kids could play so they don't drive you bonkers in the house.

that sounds fun as hell. the downside of proximity to that though, is living in a fucking desert. me and the lads can go do that same thing in the mountains. i do admit though, i like the idea of having that much open flat space and open sky surrounded by a bowl of mountains.

what the fuck is wrong with the trees

Let me guess, California is a real place. Yeah bullshit

I exaggerated for drama but a lot of suburbs really are that bad

Some towns, especially in the east, might have stuff within walking distance. But west of the Mississippi this gets less and less likely, and cities have miles and miles of mid-density housing like this with no commercial zoning at all. It's an obvious factor in our fatness, nobody can fucking walk anywhere

The neighbors knew they were a part of a popular game so they tried to make the real place look more like how it looks in game

over half of americans, around 180 million, live in shitter copypaste suburbs. it would be very accurate to say this is in fact how most americans live.

Better than europe.

Attached: 1559506756510.png (1280x720, 1.12M)

I've driven this route before, and the whole time I did I was wondering why the fuck anyone would build such a retarded road.

of course it looks better from ground level where you have nothing but a handful of nice houses each with their own nice little back yards and you can't notice just how fucking bland and lifeless the entire area is as a whole. not to mention there are very few brown people in these areas so the crime rates are very low and education is high.

That's generally how mountain roads are, if you tried to build the road directly straight up a mountai it would be hella too steep.

What are the places that aren't like this though?

Living in vegas is so sick theres so much to do 89121 here

did he live

>89121
What did he mean by this?

probably

it's more the idea that while you're driving it you can see the road ahead and it's literally 10 feet away and only like 3-4 feet taller than where you are, except you have to drive half a mile around this ridiculous loop to actually get there.

Holy shit Novac is real.

Its my zip code punch it into google maps

Springfield is on the other side of the state.

Towns built before the 50s usually are better about this. A lot of houses will still be out of walking range of stores but they'll generally at least have the excuse of being rural, or out in farming land

Some city centers have stuff you can walk to.

Is it tho

the only reason i would ever consider living in fucking vegas is proximity to year-round rock climbing. honnold convinced me. even then i'm a little wary of it.

If you're going across America (which I recommend doing) just get an RV and focus on the natural beauty of the west. The only cities we have that are worth spending time in as a tourist are NY, Chicago, and Las Vegas if you're into cheeseball glitz fun.

I live in one of the cities in Fallout 2. And no one cares.

>get an RV and focus on the natural beauty of the west
this is good advice
>The only cities we have that are worth spending time in as a tourist are NY, Chicago, and Las Vegas if you're into cheeseball glitz fun.
this part is absolutely not true. there are many cities in the south that are very different and interesting compared to the "samey" looking architecture of most American cities. Many places in the far North East, and New Orleans in the deep south, for example, are unlike anything you'll see anywhere else in the US, and there are some incredible zoos and other notable sights in many out of the way cities.

Ironically Novac is one of the few towns in NV that isn't real, pic related is in Cabazon, CA.

>paying so much for parking that you might as well just drive a car and stay in motels.

motels would be thousands of dollars more expensive over the course of a trip than paying for a lot at an RV park every once in awhile, plus wal mart parking lots are free. most cars aren't built for weeks on end of cross country travel anyway, and using your own car for something like that is foolish for many reasons. renting an RV for the Great American Road Trip is a much more realistic option for most people, especially tourists from overseas.

Pictured: the entirety of Blythe, CA.

Two factors usually: maximum road grade and limited space to build the road in

In the US for instance you rarely see grades higher than 6-7%, so if you were trying to ascend a hill from one side you'd get a switchback that looks a lot like that one.

Mate if i'm going to plan a trip across the US when I clearly don't live in the US i'm not going to have much time to build or modify shit. Not saying your /diy/ advice is wrong or anything just I simply won't have time. There's three places in the world I want to go on a trip to. One is a trip across the US, the other is to go to Mongolia and the third is to go around Japan.

"novac" comes from the motels sign saying "no vacancy", they didnt think it was the towns original name

>blythe
Shithole of a town that exists only to fill up your gas tank between Phoenix and Palm Springs

know what, you're right. both those options are retarded and expensive.
/vanlyfe/ bestlyfe, fuck paying some nguyen or mohammad $800+ per month.

didn't know you weren't in america, that definitely changes it. in that case i guess renting an rv really is your best bet. have fun when you get the chance user.

what's funny is that this rule apparently doesn't apply to urban streets. i live in a midwestern city with a bunch of hills and those crazy fucking road builders just shot everything straight up the sides. streets with a 45-50% grade over short distances are very common here.

*looks over to guns*

True, other than Colorado. Sole state that doesn't count as northern where the rural areas aren't absolute garbage. Get up in the mountains a bit and the climate is great, the biggest problem is relatively high price compared to most rural areas.

I don't blame flyover urban sprawl states for seething since this is basically 90% of America. Except with a "shopping center" with maybe a Mcdonalds.

Good luck having a 3D model of every leaf on plant earth

Because ypu're not actually doing any of this in your vidya game, your just sitting down, prodding at a piece of plastic with your sausage fingers, watching a rendering of a character doing those things

AHHHHHHHH!

Never lived in a big city and I don't want to but living in that desert shithole sounds like hell.
