Only thing you'll miss is groups wiping constantly on patch relevant content. Don't worry about rushing to catch up to do Shadowbringers. You can savor the story and catch up easily at your leisure. The only reason to keep up patch to patch is if you play with friends.

I've grown allergic to normal people. I can't stand them and they can't stand me. I need to be with people who are super excentric.

FFXIV's Ivalice isn't the same exact one in FFXII/FFT. It's an alternate Ivalice that's similar to the one in FFXII/FFT, but have had their events play out differently.

Ivalice exists in FFXIV, but it's a separate universe from XII and Tactics. XIV just weirdly also has a country in it called Ivalice that has almost (but not quite) the exact same history as XII/Tactic's Ivalice.

Well you still need to do group content occasionally to continue in the main story. But, you can pretty much effortlessly get through all of them by queuing into the Duty Finder and getting paired with random people (no need to ever talk to anyone!) If you play a DPS, you might have to wait longer for your queue to fill, if you play a tank or a healer you'll usually get in instantly.

The golden era hasn't started yet, the game's population is only increasing.

This is tinfoil hat tier but I think Ghimlyt dark is actually a prelude to having dungeons and raids actually be different from run to run rather than always the same script. The fact the next 24 man raid is Nier themed makes it even more likely since the games are known for different routes and endings

Ghimlyt dark has variations depending on which NPC kill the Colossus with their limit break and whether you fight Red or Blue first in the final boss. Imagine madman Taro designing a raid with multiple different possible routes and fights that changed from instance to instance

Giving the Scions a power boost would only make the story that much more frustrating when they are inevitably useless and need the warrior of light to single handedly fight everyone anyways.

Giving them more non combat utility is the better option. Yugiri and the shinobi continually play very important story roles infiltrating and spying or spreading misinformation, same with Thancred going Solid Snake to bring us plot developments.

For sure if they add another Limited Job, it's going to be Beastmaster. That won't happen for quite a while, if at all though. They'll need to finish releasing their planned content for BLU, and if people still hate it at that point as much as they do now, it's doubtful they'll waste resources on another limited job.

You will need to spend hours upon hours grinding through story quests

For each interesting quest there are 3-5 absolute filler quests (go to this town, find this npc, gather 10 bunny gizzards, etc) and you have to do all of them for every patch and expansion

It's honestly a nightmare and is the #1 strike against this game. The progression made sense back when this stuff was being gradually added, but when you have to truck your way through it all from the start just to get to the interesting content, it's shit. No idea why they don't have a story-skip option with each expansion.

If they wanted to be actually creative for once they could make Thief a second job stone advancement from Rogue the way SMN/SCH are, and thief could be about"stealing" buffs from enemies with selfish high dps instead of being a trick attack bitch

For whatever reason, there are a million autistic trannies that play healers (mostly scholars) refusing to actually do their job in raids, and only want to sit there DPSing. They constantly fail at mechanics, take forever to learn mechanics, underheal, refuse to hard cast heals, etc. just to do 500 more dps on their scholar.
They don't understand that no one gives a fuck about healer DPS, and that if they were an actual good player they would be more concerned with doing mechanics, adapting to any unexpected damage, and being prepared to overheal occasionally instead of autistically doing as much dps on a healer when it does not matter at all, even in ultimate.

WoW mythic raiding is more difficult than XIV Savage by a lot, the fact encounters are completely scripted means all but the worst balmung-tier shitters eventually get the dance steps down. The best guilds in the world were stuck on Mythic Jaina for WEEKS, keep in mind that unlike XIV top wow guilds make enough money off sponsorships that they can raid as a full time job during world first rates and it still took that long to clear. Everything else about WoW has gone down the shitter but it still has the best high level PVE of any tab target mmo on the market

The mechanics in XIV are harder, but they're way too scripted, meaning you can study and plan your gameplay before even getting inside the instance, or just keep hammering the mechanic until you get it right through muscle memory. Did you not play the MSQ? As long as there's enough crystals present they can summon, and those damn faggot ascians keep going out of their way to deliver them because primal summonings draining the world of it's aether is the number one way to destroy hydaelyn.

They also taught the beast tribes how to make use of blood sacrifice to summon as well once crystals started being heavily restricted, which helps to make the beastmen even more desperate since they're murdering each other to summon their god

The primals are powerful but they're far from the strongest things in the setting, did you miss the Ultima weapon shitstomping them? The Garleans have conquered half the world and Eorzea is far from the only continent where summoning is practiced. Fordola and Zenos were given a ridiculous power boost from their hypertuning/artificial echo which is why they can take on primals solo like the WoL

It's the next logical step up from new races. It's easier to create since all they would need to do is add some new assets to existing skeletons, and you can make enough of them that people buy your fantasia potions for years to come.

If it's a healer, it will have every tool available to current healers but with different flavours and name, that's all.

If you literally do nothing else but bumrush the MSQ, you can get through the game in roughly 40-50 hours played even if you watch the cutscenes. I don't recommend it for anyone new though.

If you must do it though, just power through the MSQ and save your roulettes for when you need a level to get to the next MSQ. Maybe unlock Palace of the Dead to help grind levels faster, though it takes a while to get your aetherpool weapon and armor high enough to do 51-60. Once you hit 50, do your roulettes every day, even the MSQ one, and try to push yourself to 70 so you don't have level issues once you get to Heavensward or Stormblood.

If you play a lot of time every day, you're going to spend more time grinding levels than you would if you only played for a couple hours here and there because you lose out on daily roulettes to get experience. I'd say probably spend around 2-3 hours doing MSQ stuff every day and do the roulettes after to keep getting exp, that'd be the most efficient way to handle it.

I just made it from ARR to Stormblood playing weekends only in the past three weeks, but it was mostly because I already knew what I was doing and where to go.

Yes, those guilds in particular do it as a job, but we know world first racers were off work for UCoB and that took 11 days for world first, and that's a single fight with no other bosses attached to it.
But yes, on the other difficult content, Savage got fucked so casuals could reasonably prog after Gordias took over a month just for the world first, then SE made Ultimate to compensate.

The Ascians want summoning to happen because those summons, if not dealt with, keep consuming Aether, but if killed, they return it all to the planet. However, the WoL killing these primals usually serves to escalate the situation by making the summoners even more desperate and summon even bigger primals. Essentially, it's accelerationism in the hopes the WoL can't continue to kill bigger and badder ones.

As far as power levels go, Primals are pretty far up there usually, but in reality their strength can be all over the place. Theoretically, the demi-egis the summoners summon are basically primals as well in form, but their aether is granted as a portion of their caster's, and their desummoning returns said aether to the caster. Their relative weakness also means they're not able to temper the people who summoned them. On the other hand, you have Niddhog's Shade and Shinryu, who are just monsterously powerful primals orders of magnitude beyond most things in the setting.

And on the non-primal side, you do have the Ultima Weapon capable of imprisoning the essence of primals, and Omega, a relic from another shard beyond even the Allagans. You also have entities like Hydaelyn and Zodiark calling mortals forward as champions and imbuing them with plot armor.

I've been mostly doing MSQ and nothing else, but I was way overlvled when I was doing sidequests in parallel. I stopped doing the sidequests when I noticed I was 7-8 lvls ahead. I was told the ARR sidequests are fluff and boring so I just ignore them. Am I even missing out if I do MSQs and duties? I also noticed that my guildleve duties are only lvl10 for some reason and give fuckall xp so I just dont do them. I mostly do MSQs and FATEs as I travel around. Anything else you could recommend for a new player?

There are some sidequests which are interesting, and as you go into HW and SB, they get more detailed. For almost all of them though, they serve as background lore. They don't give very good EXP.

I'd say go back and do them on alts or your main even if you want, at that point you can just breeze through them and see the interesting stuff.

I just got into this game around December, and I feel like shit because I want to catch up before Shadowbringers, but I'm anxious of playing through dungeons as tank without friends to play with.

I don't know anyone, and everyone is anti-social in the overworld, so most players just ignore interaction. I'm stuck at Stone Vigil because of tankxiety, and I just don't know what to do. I genuinely enjoy the game and just want to be able to enjoy this without feeling like I have the weight on my back to ruin everything.

There's some people you never forget though. I ran Stone Vigil with a WAR who said he macro'd all of his abilities to one button and had no spatial awareness at all. He'd somehow manage to consistently pull 2 packs and lose aggro on most of it because he always finished a combo before touching overpower. I was basically off-tanking on MNK, but we ran out of time after we'd just opened the gate to the last boss thanks to many trash wipes.

This is the only random player in a dungeon I remember for being terrible. So user with anxiety, no matter how bad you think it'll get, you can't possibly be so bad that you cause your group to literally time out of the dungeon.
