I do not know about Dark Souls 2 (though I am waiting on renting it from library), but I have beat Dark Souls 1, and it was amazing, so I am sure 2 is good. Sadly the version I am renting form the library does not have DLC. so I don't know

Dark Souls II vanilla is better than Dark Souls just because of the build variety, freedom of movement, PVP, and overall refinement of the combat. It’s also actually finished unlike the last half of Dark Souls. The DLC only makes an already amazing trip even better

just to give you some Dark Souls 2 advice.

Level up ADP as soon as possible because ADP is now the "how good are you rolls" stat, not equipment weight.

Sure Equipment Weight determines if it's normal/fat/fast roll but ADP determines how many iframes the roll has and that is the most important part of the roll.

Thankfully 3 drops the APD bullshit

I would rent the game first to see how much you like it, then buy. Make sure you play vanilla and NOT Scholars of the First Sin tho because it utterly fucked enemy placements

your iframe count from ADP is independent from the type of roll you have. Also your starting iframe count is worse than a normal roll from Dark Souls 1
