I never played or watched Digimon before that game, and I liked it a lot.

So what exactly is Digimon "ReArise?" Is it just mobile shit?

The game is pretty much Shin Megami Tensei lite. It's a decent game, but you probably won't be thinking about it much after you're done. The sequel has an expanded roster of Digimon and much fewer restrictions on what you can Digivolve into (about half the Megas in the original are locked behind endgame sidequests), but is a much worse game overall. If you can get that one cheap it might be worth playing through, but not at full price.

It's a bit weird in Cyber Sleuth. Essentially, every single Digimon is on one giant evolution tree. Almost every Digimon has at least three things it can Digivolve into based on what level it is, what stats it has, etc. and you can pick which one you like at will, provided you meet the requirements. But you can also De-Digivolve any of your Digimon into any of the ones that can evolve into it. So you can start with a Patamon, Digivolve all the way up to a Seraphimon, then De-Digivolve all the way to a Tentomon or something. Jumping around the tree lets you learn more varied abilities, like giving a water Digimon some fire spells for coverage. It also increases a stat called ABI, which determines your level cap and is a stat often checked for Digivolution requirements.

Long story short, you won't be able to keep a Digimon in one form for very long, but once you've settled on your skills, you can roll with whatever the hell you want with very little effort. Even if your Digimon started out as a walking lump of shit, you can turn it into a hot vampire woman with only a bit of effort.

Meanwhile HM just has you going about doing random shit that doesn't matter for like the first ten chapters. HM is almost literally the same game. It reuses almost every single map from the first game, has all the same mechanics, all the same Digimon, everything. It just has a little more on top of that, as well as a few QoL improvements. And to be fair, the game does focus more on what new content it has, but it nonetheless is pretty clear about the way it's tied to the first game by ball and chain, even going out of its way to emphasize this in the story

Yep, but outside of Mastemon and Lilithmon the waifumon aren't really viable if you're playing on Hard, and Mastemon is mainly for singleplayer bosses due to the 20% total health attack. You end up using Digimon that have piercing like Lilithmon, you almost always need UlforceVeemon on your team to give you any chance at all on some of the Royal Knights, and if you're going to play multiplayer for some reason everyone uses meta teams which sweep and rely on speed.

Some decent quality of life improvements, a ton of new Digimon, and better balance. But the story is a complete waste of time. If you just want more Cyber Sluts and you can get it cheap, go ahead. But it's entirely skippable.

Nah, except for the bonus stats you get from the farm, all your stats are tied to the species, and Megas are just flat-out better than Ultimates. But if you're playing on Normal, the game isn't hard enough that you HAVE to be at max potential all the time.

That is something I should mention, though. Cyber Sleuth has a really bad case of "Normal is too easy, hard is too hard." Hacker's Memory evened it out a bit.

All Digimon in CS have fixed stats. 2 of the same Digimon will always have the same stats at the same level unless farm training or equivalents have been applied

No because Chaos Degredation is Mastemon exclusive and not something you can carry over. Every Digimon has fixed stats so anything not a Mega is worthless outside of a couple exceptions like Lucemon Child. Keep in mind unless you're on Hard everything I'm saying doesn't really matter because you can sweep through Normal without any issue with whatever you want, it's Hard that needs all these specialized Digimon and special teams to deal with getting one-shot and Digimon having multiple turns before you even see a single one.

Because of certain signature moves in CS, being in a higher evolution state is not always necessarily better. I hope we all remember the embarrassment that was War Greymon being able to outdamage Omegamon in the first game thanks to Great Tornado being super OP

Man end game boss fights were insane, I got to the point where I just switched over to normal after the first few Royal Knights and that fucking offline tournament on hard, Jesus. Took hours just to get through 1 tournament.

While true, they're few and far between. Lucemon Child is because it has Mega stats but is a Rookie and rivals the top tiers like Lilithmon in magic usage, Etamon is because of Love Serenade having piercing, Andiramon for the speed, stuff like that. Again, this is more important on Hard than Normal so really it only matters in very special cases regardless.

I beat everything on Hard but the final tournament. Once I reached the Diablomon that did an AoE neutral damage that did double my health in damage TWICE IN A ROW (4500ish a hit) with one turn of my guys in between I just tapped out because prior to him I spent like 30 minutes dealing with a TigerVespamon buffing the speed of and healing a full party of Digimon which I only won by the skin of my teeth.

The scariest fight is Leopardmon/Duftmon when it comes to the Royal Knights, holy crap is he completely unfair. The entire fight is just praying he does something stupid so he doesn't sweep your team. Some of the Demon Lords even required me to abuse the Jesmon setup because I simply could not survive the fight.

Cybersluts wasn't so awful that it made me wish I could have my time back BUT it wasn't too good either. The idea has potential but the whole thing is too low budget for how ambitious it wants to be. The areas are so simple that they look like a PS1 game. It sets up a really good universe and then does nothing with it.

Digimon Survive is looking like trash, too. Soulless tactical RPG with nothing new on the table. They did say that there were more Digimon titles in production but no information. Hopefully it won't be garbage.

Visually there's nothing wrong with it, it's just uninspired. Tactical RPGs are one of those genres that never change or evolve, from the dev diary it looked and played exactly like every tactical RPG we've ever hand since the PS1.

Pretty much this. Doesn't help how in both games barely anything happens till halfway through.

One of the only ways to beat Eater Arata on Hard is stacking Wargreymons and outspeeding him with boosted Brave Tornados. You don't even have access to Demon Lords or Royal Knights at that point.

I would spend unreasonable amounts of money for something like the Cyber Sleuth games with Pokemon.

I used Mastemon, WarGreymon, and MarineAngemon for healing for that fight but I had to luck out multiple times. Masetmon's special is used for whittling the health down as WarGreymon and MarineAngemon heal/use items, and then once Mastemon starts dealing too little you then opt for WarGreymon attacking.

His speed was also a problem from what I recall. That entire fight is just a mess for being a story fight since the final boss was way easier.

It's been a while since I played this but I remember regretting Digivolving my Wargreymon into Omegamon because he was straight up worse. I did not want to go back on him though so I just used BlackWarGreymon instead. Basically beat the entire game with him.

That last colosseum battle, I went into it blind and realized I couldn't win because they kept healing. I attacked and watched them heal for over ONE HOUR before I managed to kill the first one, and then another 30 minutes before killing the second. Longer time I ever played a turn-based game.

It's funny because she's the daughter of the scientist who Yuuko pretends to be the daughter of in Chapter 2 of Cybersluth and who also participated in the memory erasion of the beta test childrenwho kicks you out when you talk to her dad

Yeah you used Imperialdramon FM for his passive 10% ATK and SPD aura and to buff the Wargreymons. Final Boss was way easier because you had access to the Royal Knights at that point. Kentaurosmon was also a bitch if he killed UlforceVeemon very early in the encounter, or BanchoLeomon spamming Flash Bancho Punch. The Jimiken fights were also annoying if you didn't know about Confuse and packed the wrong Digimon
