Pokemon designs have had a pretty consistent ratio of good to bad, with the most good probably bring Johto and the most bad probably being Kalos.

Actually there are a handful of trainers that do nickname their Pokemon in the anime, but as just stated, only a handful. I personally stuck with nicknames all these years because back in Gen 1 I got bored seeing my Pokemon name vs enemy Pokemon name and wanted to give my 1s and 0s an identity.

I hope he has great defenses, HP and speed, and maybe even set up-moves. A pressure stall set with roost like vincune could be really devastating since he's a steel type, so he can't be poisoned. Also since he's a flying type he'll most likely get roost. If he ends up sucking defensively, hopefully he could still get a hidden ability that is useful offensively.

No. Skarmory's big niche is that it is an absolute physical tank that gets entry hazards, but is weak in every other aspect. Hopefully corviknight will have a more balanced stat spread. Personally, I would prefer it to be an offensive mon, but its abilities are more defensive. It is very likely that if anything, it would be a worse celesteela.

Only if he gets rocks and spikes. U-turn and especially defog are already pretty likely.

Definitely gonna be an in game member of my team and hopefully competitive too. The designs for the pokemon seem solid. My only gripe so far is with the dynamax shit.

Emergency Exit is shit but at least it's unique, different and speaks of Golissopod's behavior and personality as a monster/animal, which I'm all for.

Only thing I like about Gen 8 so far.

For the first time since gen 4 (which I skipped all of and only played Platinum and HG/SS long after the fact), I think I'm just going to skip the first games and wait for the third version/revision/sequel/alternate take/whatever the fuck on this one. There's just nothing shown so far that really grabs me and makes me want to play it day 1 so I'll just wait and see what comes next.

Hopefully they don't pull a gen 6 where all we get is one sub-par release and no further revision/fixes though a third game.

Johto is solid all around but there aren't many standouts, and I'd say Kalos is pretty good.
Sinnoh has always had the worst dex to me. Best set of starters in the franchise though.

I used Gogoat in X/Y and Skarmory's one of my favorites, so I'll use him. Hope his Hidden Ability is better than Pressure, though I'm naming him after my D&D character. Keep an eye out for one called Spoons
