FACT: Alot of games would have been better with simple intros like this. Too many games fall into this modern trap that you need speed a bunch of resources to make overly long cutscene or scripted bullshit to ease players into the game

He wants any character that isn't from Mario NES to be intentionally forgettable.

He's the producer for the one you posted. Doesn't anyone look at the credits?

Because the series was turning into "generic JRPG starring Mario" instead of actual mario games

You mean Tanabe

As sad as it is, I kind of want Miyamoto to die. He's really holding NIntendo back. I'm not saying that as some edgelord, I don't actually want the man dead for any personal reasons. In fact, ideally, he wouldn't have to die at all, he'd just retire. But it seems the Japanese don't do that, they're basically like Vikings and the only death they deem honorable is to die at work sitting at their desk.

We get this thread a lot. It's because of ego, people liked this game more than ones he made, and he can't handle that he didn't make it.
That was literally the entire point of the series, going all the way back to RPG. If you wanted a Mario RPG that felt explicitly like a Mario game you got a Mario and Luigi game.

It was all fine if they had mario going to other kingdoms outside of the mushroom kingdom and doing stuff, but super paper mario added too many weird characters (not to mention their bad designs) and the scope went to "save the universe" so miyamoto went all back and demanded no one to go out of the mushroom kingdom ever again

Fuck that, TTYD was perfect and they should have just gone back to that.

Nintenbabbys are so mentally fucked holy shit

Young man, go outside. Holy shit.

All he did was say "cool it with the OCs bruh"
Not make everyone a generic red Toad and also moar dude paper lmao gimmicks
We need a reboot that returns to the "Mario Story" line of thinking. Fuck this arts and crafts shit.

Agree, he keeps forcing gimmicks first, gameplay second.

That bee-themed game is our only hope for a true TTYD sequel. Nintendo mismanages their IPs so badly.

Don't hold your breath, Tanabe already said that they have no intention of going back to old formulas, including stickers. For now, PM is dead just like Chibi Robo and I hope it stays that way

>no Wario platformer since like 2007
Thank fuck they’d ruin it so bad

What game is this, friend? I Google reverse-searched and reverse-searched fireden, to no avail.

No. Just no.
This intro works wonders when you have a silent protagonist or a not so involved story. But for every game? I don’t really think so. I definitely wish we’d have more to the point intros like Half Life did, but this is just kinda too minimal for me, and totally feels like “yeah it’s crazy eights with anime porn” and not something more.

real answer? because it competes with the mario and luigi series and nintendo doesn't want to split sales up with games that "compete" with each other. They don't make f-zero because they think mario kart cannibalizes the sales.

Wasn't it that Tanabe got upset from being to cool it with the OCs so he made everything Toads which Miyamoto hates?
But they haven't been making Mario and Luigi either.

they made one in january do remakes suddenly not count?

No it's just that Tanabe is retarded.

Miyamoto is an old fart that needs to fuck off already

>Let's make our most beloved series like a meme spinoff game

Does Miyamoto only get a bad rep around here because of Paper Mario?

Agreed

Samefag is samefagging

Star Fox too. He's definitely over the hill

Wii gimmicks
WiiU gimmicks
Fucking up paper Mario because he didn’t want 2 Mario RPGs was fucking dumb

Its like 70% paper mario fags
20% star fox fags
10% fags mad because Miyamoto disliked their precious rosalina storybook which is probably this highest tier literature they ever read in their worthless lives

Yes, M&L too.

Paying top dollar for an interpreter, Miyamoto-San?

I don't even blame him for Paper Mario but
>won't make a new F-Zero because he can't think of a shitty gimmick to ruin it with
Fuck him

I admit Super Paper Mario went a bit too far. The first two felt like a nice balance of old Mario and new material, though, and I think it's a shame that we might never have something like that again.

The absolute state

Is it really that good or is it the power of nostalgia?

Every time I think of Wind Waker and Thousand-year-Door, I distinctly can't help but feel like they're the best games of all time with some of the best and most fleshed out worlds.

Either they don't make games like that anymore or it's just me.

If that's true (I don't know if it is) that's probably even worse, because he's basically sabotaging the games just to be a petty fuck. I'd actually rather he just be incompetent instead of malicious.

same desu

It’s still good. But it has “THAT” parts strewn about that make playing through it again kinda shitty for long period

Miyamoto is basically the Japanese George Lucas, a man who should be kept around as a figurehead but be given absolutely no creative input or decision making ability.

They are experience driven games. They are good but really more flash than substance, they lack challenging level design and/or gameplay mechanics with any real depth. Usually you look for devs like older capcom or konami for that, as well as stuff like old PC FPS and RTS games. Wanting to like a game is a big part of enjoyment. Games that have unique and appealing tone are very important.

There really is something specific and immersive about these worlds though. There's nothing like either of those games at all. The characters, the places you go to, it's really something else. Gameplay is another thing, but the worlds are what made it for me. Each area had something fresh and exciting to it, there was never a single boring town.

What other games have fantastic immersive worlds like that?

Most people say its chapter 4 but I think its chapter 7 thats the real slog.
>yeah go find that one character you probably didn't even notice so he can fire off this cannon
>whoops he just fucking left
makes me want to claw my eyes out.
Chapter 4 is actually my favorite sure it has backtracking but at least it was fun especially the missing letter.

That's not so much sad as it is completely insane, user.

Hes right

But what is the name of this game?

Trails in the Sky

Play Skies of Arcadia my man, you won't regret it. It's the only other game that gave me that soul overload feel TTYD did.

Chapter 5 has you going back and forth through the jungle for no reason too
