I've always hated subscriptions, it's the reason why I moved away from consoles to PC in the first place. Nowadays I've got lumps of cash to spare and can't get rid of the feeling that I've missed out on the true MMO experience, I've only ever touched F2P ones like Runescape and ArcheAge.
What would be the best game to dive into, should I just be waiting for Classic?

Try FFXIV ShadowBringers and then WoW Classic later in Fall. Both are getting a lot of hype.

There are still many older MMOs that have the true MMO exprience today. There's Dungeons & Dragons, WoW Claasic (soon), Lineage Online, AION online, Everquest, and a few others 10+ year old MMOs still around today.

Speaking of nuWoW I'm seething at the idea of people still supporting that game and getting hyped by the new cinematics and lore reveals, its so fucking embarrassing and bad, I'm pretty sure any user itt would be able to write a better story. I'm hesitant to hand over cash to play Vanilla because Blizzard has sunk so low.

Play a few months of Vanilla, since XIV shadowbringers look like hot garbage. A trip down nostalgia lane, I don't expect to play for too long.
Waiting for something big to release to revive the genre, but I don't see anything promisingnat the moment.

It's on ue4 and it fucking terrible optimization. Not even with gtx 1080 you can run it at 100fps. Hopefully ue4 will change that.

I'm also assmad at the thought of MMOs having overarching stories at all, stop it, none fucking cares go make single player RPGs if you want to tell the story of the WoL, Sylvanyasss/Anduin or whatnot, you're developing a fucking MMO so just push a clean setting and let the players build their own stories you mongoloids.

Currently playing DFO, having an okay time, the combat is stellar but the whole fatigue mechanic is really offputting, I just end up making or leveling a different character and when I can play my main again I lose interest
I also popped back into Vindictus for a moment earlier to try out the new character, wasn't feeling it though, I probably played through season 1 content like 30 times at this point

LMAO I can see why you will never enjoy Vindictus. S1 is by far the worst part of the game. Until you make it to lv70 (which can be done in like 2 hours) is when the game finally picks up and start throwing tons of good boss fights at you and then at lv90 the game goes full blown hard mode.

Ah no, I've been playing Vindictus off and on since the western release with only Lann, Fiona and Evie
Back when stuff like Irukul, Titan and the dragons weren't actually soloable
I just jump back in every now and then to check out the new characters and play them for a bit, recently leveled a Hurk for the first time which was pretty fun, the secondary weapon there is neato
I also liked that they finally did away with the fucking EX moves that plagued the european version for years, spear lann is finally the way it was meant to be played with tons of crit
