Bravo gamefreak
Bravo gamefreak
ign here to say, "too much water!!!!"
new pokemon game for gamecube looks so cool
look closely at the reflections
this looks like a ps2 game
How do you end up looking worse than the 3DS games?
oh fuck...
C'mon Game Freak, how can you fuck up this badly...
imagine a giant pokemon eating you
haha
>pokemon creatures IN the water
I hope the father and son can bond over this
It's like Gamefreak is on a 15 year lag on what is acceptable videogame design, but because the brand is so established, they can just do whatever they want.
Fuck, they must make so much goddamn money from the sheer lack of effort put into these games.
Poor Gyrados is swimming in oil apparently. When are they going to clean that lake up?
what the fuck are those reflections
>for gamecube
I wish it looked like Colosseum/GoD
This is the kind of thing I had nightmares. These motherfuckers are seriously trying to just make Sun/Moon HD edition and pass it off as a current-gen game.
>N64 models
>terrible character desings
Game's good and fun, but it looks atrocious.
The n64 models had better animation at the very least.
prease undastandu refrections too difficurt
good lord that's the ugliest water ive seen in 20 years lmao
>No shadows at all on the ground for your character
>but the pokemon have shadows
are humans real in the Pokemon world?
I think it's your fault for expecting anything more from gamefreak.
Nice water guy is going to kill himself
I have a strong suspicion that this is all about making the game fit on a smaller memory card to cut costs and increase profits.
Pokemon fans are literally the biggest cucks on earth lmfao
I have a strong suspicion this is cope
This is a game from 2008.
>the reflection of that water
We literally fixed this shit 2 generations ago, gamefreak are a bunch of hacks
This isn't "artstyle", it's just incompetence.
>Wasting our bandwidth with png files
PNG is for preserving an image's integrity from jpg compression and is 8x larger for the same quality.
Imagine if pokemon looked like this, and had actually good animations like this or the naruto storm series.
I just played that for the first time, pretty solid game. Halure was beautiful
Shut the fuck up
>no refraction of objects in the water
>seemingly little or no fresnel
>static cubemap reflection which isn't even properly aligned with the terrain and so low-res you can see the filtered pixelation
>that weird black gradient connecting milotic to the water
>those flat as fuck normal maps
I don't understand how they managed to make it so bad. There's better water than this in Star Fox: Adventure for the fucking Gamecube.
go back to your containment board
This is actually disgusting.
Why couldn't it look like this?
Just look at these two imagies back to back what the fuck
what do you expect, it's the most popular game in the world; there is no competition to incentivize them to put any more resources into the game than what's required to make something to sell.
Retard
Ni No Kuni 1 is the best Pokemon game.
This is true. Zelda actually had to prove something.
And this is coming to the Switch soon, too.
God-tier. Please come to xbox.
I fucking wish.
Never ever
But you can have this instead :)
please understand
And you know what's funny? DQXI runs on fucking Unreal Engine of all things.
>wii game from 2010
>go to the board even worse than this one where people will defend anything and everything
no
pokemon colosseum looks better than this shit what are you talking about
they should just let monolith develop the next pokemon game. worked for BotW
>Enter thread
>Ctrl + f
Good to know Yea Forums always delivers
>when a literal gamecube game has better water/aesthetic design
It's impressive that they are actually IN the water and not floating over but yet people are complaining.
>it's a "zoomer compare to system he never own to sound badass on twitter" episode.
>images you can hear
>move model slightly below the water plane
>impressive
The technology isn't even the limitation, it's just the sheer laziness and bad habits of the developers. Fire Emblem Three Houses has the exact same problem.
Top left looks quite nice. Rest is garbage.
Yes but It's not going to look like this though. It will probably look like the PC version with all the quality settings set to low and 720p.
There's always someone who can't remember for shit what a PS2 game actually looks like.
dude...
>Not sneakily using the HD texture pack for the sake of a good screenshot.
You're a very genuine person, user.
It looks worse than a gamecube game
>same quality
Presumably it's like a cutscene so they can cull all unnecessary shit and run the game at a nicer resolution. Meanwhile the Wild Area is probably either using a lower resolution by default or really awful dynamic resolution scaling to save performance. More likely than not Game Freak still hasn't figured out how to actually optimize large maps and spaces properly, which is why the Wild Area is its own independent non-route location so that it isn't rendering everything outside of it too.
You know the magic of a continuous world shatters when anything other than a semi-topdown perspective caused X&Y to start chugging on the 3DS, showing they're likely rendering way more than they had to and not doing any proper culling at all.
Calling it a Gamecube game is too generous. It straight up looks like an unfinished Unity game.
the environments have no excuse for looking so fucking bad but to be fair animating over 700 moves for over 800 pokemon is tough. There would be a ton of issues, like pic related doing a fire punch
phoneposters lmao
>that jagged mess
holy fuck, is this really a 2019 game?
Game freak is a multi billion dolalre company, they could easily higher 800 individual animators to do a single sprite for ever single pokemon.
Of course i'm being extreme, but just a small dedicated team would be more then enough.
They COULD do it, but they don't since they are so trash tier.
How many years until Pokemon looks like this?
It's honestly a little bit upsetting that Gamefreak can put out this bare minimum quality effortless garbage, and we all know damn well it'll still sell millions. For fuck's sake, the "exciting new mechanic" is Pokemon with larger models and 4 Z-moves. What the FUCK.
>Modern day MMO's have over thousands of models and animations while also running on a mid-low budget
>Pokemon, a multi-billion dollar franchise, can't even properly create at least 800 models
You and I know they're just doing this for a paycheck since they know everybody will eat this up.
By the time Pokemon looks like that, the average AAA game will look indistinguishable from reality.
How come yokai watch 4 looks impressive on switch but fucking pokemon looks like a go damn gamecube era game?
Because they actually have to try to get people to buy their game. Pokemon fans will eat literal shit as long as it's got a Pokemon label on it; see LGPE and Pokemon Sleep.
Is that supposed to be the bridge from sotc?
Presumably never. Somehow third-party developers on older hardware tried way harder than Game Freak ever will.
I'm not usually one for this, but even fans have come up with more appealing stuff than Game Freak.
It's just a bridge, user
I've literally just started playing Tales of Vesperia today, and I was thinking "why can't Pokemon look like this?"
Its definitely got some similarities
>it's impressive that game freak are doing the bare minimum
You do know that got ported to switch right?
sky has a purple hue, the water is reflecting it... yikes you're dumb
>o be fair animating over 700 moves for over 800 pokemon is tough
They don't animate every single move for every single pokemon.
whats this
it has literally nothing in common
THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT
Which is a more powerful console than the 360 even when it's undocked.
Oh I'm sorry I didnt realize you were blind.
Please don't insult the gamecube like that
the water is very debatable, you can tell the ripples are just a texture
GameFreak is the Toei of game developers.
why? Why the fuck does anime do this? In what other industry can you get away with shitting out literal slop and then reselling the actual finished product later? Imagine if we had to pay for updates and patches in games.
Uh, that used to happen all the time. Look at Capcom.
How is this news? Fucking Yokai Watch and Monster Hunter stories on 3ds looked miles better than pokemon too
> It will probably look like the PC version with all the quality settings set to low and 720p.
That's the PS4 version...
*sniff sniff*
MOMMYYYYYYYYY MY POKE AY MON GAME HAS NO RELFECTION
*snif sniff*
MOM I DONT WANT IT THIS YEAR, IM NOT GETTING IT.
Everyone should know that GF's incompetence continues on the Switch
I'm a Switchfag and buyfag, but I'm seriously considering just emulating this so I can make it look decent to the eyes. These vomit-inducing colors could use Reshade.
As a kid, just the capcom logo screamed "low quality" to me and I avoided anything capcom related since. I played as megaman like once in smash on the 3ds so that's the most exposure to capcom I've had. I dodged a bullet desu, might pop my capcom cherry with resident evil 7 and the 2 remake since they look decent.
Under rated
I would emulate this for sure, but i dont think i can on a mac book
You're dumb as hell. Capcom made some of the best action games of the 90s and 00s.
yikes
Mega evolutions
Z-moves
Dynamaxing
This is pathatic, what happened to pokemon being powerful on their own and not needing shitty ass gimmicks like these? The fags who loved mega evolution have become even more annoying thinking everyone agres with them that it's good just because of how garbage z moves and dynamax is. It's like comparing a solid turd to runny doo-doo. Who fucking cares, it's still shit either way.
Are you completely ignorant to Capcom's legacy?
