Wasn't until later that the games introduced the concept of being able to recruit more and more Digimon onto your side. I don't get the complaint. What's wrong with the mechanic? It looks like a strictly better Mega concept. Any pokemon can use it, you don't lose your hold item and it can be activated at anytime meaning there's a bit of play in that it can be used offensively or defensively on reaction. With Megas you can only use it when the specific pokemon is out, but with dynamax you may need to pop it early or can wait to see what the best use case is later in the match

Mega Evolutions had the problem of Game Freak being lazy fucks that didn't want to design new power up forms for every mon, okay, I can understand (not excuse, understand) them dropping the concept. But we already have Z-moves as an universal way of giving every mon a potential power boost. We certainly didn't need that fucking ridiculous Ultraman bullshit. Not every fucking gen needs its very own meta-defining dumb power up gimmick.

Just got done watching the Direct. Pokemon is so fucking soulless in 3D. GameFreak isn't even trying, like usual. All the colors are disgusting, the character models are ass, and the animations looked rush. Just look that the professor lady starting to walk, it's obvious she snapped into "walk forward" mode, it reminds me of a late 90s game. Like how Counter-Strike 1.6 did that, but then Counter-Strike: Source solved it and it looked like natural movements.
