Just because it's a cartoon doesn't means IT HAS to use cell shading, it's not appropriate.
By using a mix of normal 3D modeling and the "painterly" background style on textures, they manage to strike a really good balance.

Messages aside the show is a dumpster fire. I know some friends-of-friends that love it and I don't fucking get it, even after catching later episodes and reading about the ending. The writing goes to shit fast, the characters are barely likable, the cast is bloated with characters that don't matter, the animation is fucking garbage and hilariously off-model 90% of the time (and half the time it's good they have a guest storyboarder or animator), and despite focusing so much on musical numbers the songs are mostly mediocre and I swear the singers are fucking flat half the time. And that's before I read up on the twist and ending that were both hilariously trash.

The Mis-Edventures was pretty fun. The movie game was kino (and I honestly prefer it over BfBB, though BfBB's still a good game), and Nicktoons Unite was good aside from dumb ally AI making boss-fights harder than they probably needed to be (Fuck Plankton and the Flea in Goddard, christ. Getting a game-over because one member of your team of 4 died is BS), Nicktoons Battle on Volcano Island was great too. The Simpsons Game (not Road Rage/Hit and Run, but the game loosely based on the movie) If we're expanding to licensed games in general and not just animated cartoons, Cars 1, Over The Hedge, and Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron were also great.

Not taking that away from it, but Transformers Devastation in particular is also one of the best action games ever made. It's innovative, strong by every metric (including visuals, music, and story), and a ton of fun to play and replay. Then of course there's probably a dozen or two rock-solid 8/10 licensed games we could go back and mention, like Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights, Dragonball Advanced Adventure, etc. and that's before comic licenses where you could name 8-10 great Spider-Man games alone.

I never actually played the game but that seems neat. From what I read online though Squidward's original german voice actor never worked on any of the games which sucks.
Squidwards' original german voice actor died a few years ago and I always thought he was way better than the original english one. He knew how to make Squidward(or Thaddaus in German) sound happy/snooty when he was being happy/snooty without making it seem unnatural to his character instead of just having a boring monotone voice like the english one at practically all times.
Basically he had far more range.
One of the few actors I can think of that was an insane upgrade from the original english ones.
Like compare the scene where Squilliam tells Squidward that he lied about everything and that he's just a cashier same as him.

Surprisingly I'm kinda mixed on the BPS movie. Yeah it was a good finale but I always felt it was very forced how the kids suddenly treated the Eds as heroes after shitting on them throughout the show...it just felt out of character I guess and the series ending with a movie(even though it felt like an overly long widescreen direct-to-dvd episode) always felt kinda...I dunno, just not right.
I feel like "Take this Ed and Shove It" works better as a finale desu...it's not sugary sweet like BPS was which always threw me off. Not that I dislike the School Seasons like a lot of people seem to(in fact "Cool Hand Ed" is my favorite episode by far)
So in that sense I'd say I kinda prefer the Spongebob Movie(which actually was a real movie unlike BPS which felt more like a TV Movie if you know what I mean).
