Let's take the time to discuss and appreciate the greatest video game genre of all time - The 3D Platformer.

Discuss and share 3D Platformers in this thread and share any obscure ones that others might not know of.

Jak and Daxter > Jak 2 > Jak 3

RARE collectathons were never good

The only truly good 3D platformers are Super Mario 64 and Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon though?

Rayman 2 remake when

((()))
Why do you hate them?

Ah, but consider this; Jak 1>Jak X>Jak 3>Jak 2

fucking based

>just now realized I put in a racing game
Please disregard that, i suck cocks

>play SA2 recently
>get fucking livid because Sonic/Shadow keep jittering around trying to stick to the intended path
Is this just a fuckup in the PS3/360 ports or was it always like this? It's so annoying, especially when you're not even that far from what they want you to do, god forbid I run a little to the left instead of straight down the middle

Anyone else has more the adventure feeling like you are exploring mysterious or unknown areas to you in this games rather than the actual adventure genre?
KEK

super mario galaxy 2 and super mario 3d land are the best 3d platformers ever made. The latter even has 100% multiplayer co-op.

It both depends in what you consider plattformer and what you consider good.
For me the term is very broad so there are also a lot of good plattformers, you are probably biased tho since you only mentioned n64 games

The genre didn't survive the 90's. After the N64, everything was either an inferior copy or the platforming was relegated to the background.

wat

There were still plenty of good 3D Platformers in 6th gen during the early 2000s.

Kao The Kangaroo Round 2 got added to Steam recently, temporarily free, and afterwards (not sure if that deal is still happening) only being sold for $2. Never heard of it until a Yea Forums thread but it's apparently a Polish cult classic that wasn't available on anything modern until the Publisher put it out. I got it while it was free and spent a couple hours on it. Really solid little game, some slight jank but way less than I expected from an early 00s Polish platformer.

Im happy I am able to enjoy more plattforming games than you buddy, guess I am a more fan of the genre cause I like a shit ton of them.
>platforming was relegated to the background.
Thats also true but those games(Jak and Daxter,R&C,Prince of persia, etc)are still a lot of fun even if they are more focused towards combat, some more than others.

One of my favorites, shame how nobody has played it

saved will try later
thx user.

Why is Banjo the go-to template for 3D platformers? There is barely any platforming on it. SM64 is the true GOAT and very few games tried to copy it.

Me again , its insane how many interesting games ps1 had that you could have one back them and in 2019 still discover interesting games, incredible machine, lots and lots of games.

emulate it, US physical copies are very rare

One of my favorites. It's severely underrated

You can get it on GOG if you want it on PC.

I'm sure none of you played Kao the Kangaroo

but is it really? haven't played much of banjo, but it's really heave on collecting different things. i'd say most notable 3d platformers are something between like sm64 and crash when it comes to collecting shit.

Ape Escape 4 when?

How is that game?

slow as fuck. don't know about the second one. it was free on steam but missed it.

I used to love it when I was a kid. It's no masterpiece, but it's a very solid platformer. You can get Round 2 on Steam for a very cheap price. I played it earlier this week since it was free for a few days and it's a good game.

>2019... I am forgotten

Oh shit, I remember playing the sequel at my friend's house

solid game
