Mechanically it's an interesting idea, you get an ability that buffs your stats and changes your moves for 3 turns. It's like Mega Evolution mixed with Z moves, and it doesn't take up your held item slot, instead being limited by timing.

That's a good mechanic, overall. What I don't understand is why they chose to present it as "FUCKHUEG MEOWTH". It's not even like a wink to the fact that all the gyms are redesigned into football stadiums, there's nothing in football that this is a parallel to.

It's stupid from a design perspective. It will probably be cool in competitive battling though.

It's confirmed it's only possible to battle with giantmons at certain places, meaning it's not like megavolutions or z-moves. It's probably going to be mostly for the raid system, meaning it won't affect the main game or the competative scene.

The game looks nice and definitly better than Sun&Moon.

If it actually requires you to hold an item it's almost certainly going to be inferior to just using Mega Evos. Megas are permanent, even on switch. The only advantage to Dynamax would be that you could be situational mid-battle about when to activate it and who to activate it on.

I actually liked mega evolutions. Z moves were stupid, but this is on a whole new level of lazy. Increase the model’s size, add some red effects, and increase the size of the moves as well.

It’ll be called Minimaxing, all of the Pokemon’s moves will be smaller versions of the originals, and to top it all off they’ll have a blue electric aura to them. well, no one is saying that you can't use both. But I think this is a great mechanic in general with a lot more counterplay than megas or z moves. You could activate it as a defense boost for baton pass teams or turn a weak mon with good moves into a sweeper
