You told me I had to play every Kingdom Hearts gamu before I play KH3, and I just watched Re:Coded and I didn't learn anything. It's just a bunch of meaningless data drivel about hurt feelings and re-re-re-used assets.
The other entries have godawful writing but this time I genuinely feel like I lost brain cells.
Seriously? What was the point? The events of CoM are real and impact the Organization in KH2, and 358/2 Days introduces that boring waifu and fleshes out the Org, but what was Coded? What was the point? Why did it get put in the HD collection if it's as plot-important as some child's Kingdom Hearts 1 themed birthday party?
Let's just say that before watching it I couldn't pair every name with every face and after I could. The DS version of Days did them much better service, I hear.

I am also only up to BBS, wondering when the whole KH story is supposed to go off the rails. Everything has been reasonably easy to follow, and there's nothing particularly weird about BBS except that it doesn't obviously tie into the other games yet outside of keyblades existing and Ventus looking like Roxas.

Recoded is probably the least important overall. The only really important aspects are maleficent fucking around, and the idea that even data can grow a heart. It's basically just to tie into mobile game shenanigans with the book of prophecy and creating worlds from data.

If you ever go and actually watch anime, you'll learn how absolutely fucking boring Kingdom Hearts is paced and written, how nothing happens for 90% of each game, how the worldbuilding is fucked, and even minor stuff like how the cadence of dialogue if permanently stilted and how in cutscenes the characters are never given business and just stand in place most of the time. Feels very static, very artificial.

The fact is it was (somewhat) fun playing through the spin offs as they came out but there’s too much shit too bother with if you’re wanting to play them all for the first time now. Just play the 3 mainline ones and watch a YouTube video for the story between 2 and 3. The DS ones were basically reskins if each other with new stories but BBS was pretty good. You’ll just be visiting the same shit over and over if you play them one after the other.
