I tried the Divinity OS games recently. Gameplay is fine, I like TB combat, but I just can't bring myself to care about the story in them.

I already played all the ones worth playing
Planescape, New Vegas, VtMB

I'm replaying Kingdom Come because it's fucking great. Why aren't there more games trying to take a slice of Bethesda pie? The melding of an open world RPG with an immersive sim really does it for me, but so few are made. Most of what we get is low quality Bethshit that strips away the RPG mechanics with each release.

I still have Underrail, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, ELEX, PoE II, and ATOM in my backlog, but I don't have the time to commit to playing cRPG. I also wait for the Bard's Tale IV Director's Cut to drop in order to try it, as I've heard that it's actually rather good.

I wish I had more free time to spare.

Obviously haven't.

There are still plenty to go through, but it all depends on your preferences. Are you there for the story, combat, exploration, or maybe you want a more or less authentic tabletop RPG experience?

Don't listen to anyone that tells you Elex isn't worth playing. It absolutely is. The combat is a little jank, some dialogue is a little weird, but man what a game. Great world with lots of verticality, great exploration, jet pack is both fun and useful, quests that can be solved in different ways with different outcomes, freedom to choose wildly different factions. Just a thoroughly enjoyable experience, for me at least.

I'm definitely trying it when I will have an opportunity to do so. It actually surprised me that Codex, of all places, was actually rather fond of ELEX in general.

most WRPGs have aged terribly, Arcanum for example is broken beyond belief and the combat is a joke just like most WRPGs; Fallout is pure jank, MotB is too
I love the writing, but there's only so much I can stomach

>A Divinity 2 thread, Pathfinder thread, and this one on page 1.

Feels fucking good, now let's ban the smash roosterfaggot threads and keep the ff14 thread containted in a general.

If you want actual discussion about not just meme games then 4+Yea Forums's Yea Forums would be up your alley

>looks guys I belong on Yea Forums!

Waiting for a big sale for Kingdom Come so I can play the DLC.
Otherwise there are no good WRPG since New Vegas

Try new Shadowrun games, particularly Dragonfall. Writing is great in them, especially when it comes to companions, combat is nothing exceptional, but generally decent.

Anachronox has very entertaining writing. Try it if you're okay with an unresolved cliffhanger of an ending.

Judging by the games you've mentioned, I suppose you most likely tried Morrowind, KOTOR, and Deus Ex, but I'll mention them anyway. Combat in Morrowind is junky by today's standards, but if you're into exploration and digging into the lore, then there's nothing like it. KOTOR is generally fun, but it's mostly worth playing for trying KOTOR II in all its glory afterward. And I don't think that Deus Ex needs any comments, as it has been already discussed to death.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been mentioned multiple times ITT. It's great, very immersive, combat is entertaining once you get the grasp of it, also has some really amazing side quests. Bugs and performance have been drastically improved since release.

>Fallout is pure jank
t. zoomer

I already played all the great ones and just "good" WRPG is not enough to hold my attention anymore

>MotB is too
I'll give you Arcanum and it seriously needs a proper remaster, but how is NWN2 janky or dated? It's pretty basic RTwP combat that gets used even today and I can't really recall anything particular that noticeably detracts from it.

is there any character in vidya who has a worse fate than him?

>install Pillars of Eternity
>quit at character creation because no idea what to pick

play Cypher
strong class and most unique dialogue options
the whole story and worldbuilding makes most sense as a Cypher

i am

>PoE II
PoE II doesn't have waifus. Hence it's shit.
Seriously, to each it's own, but I wouldn't bother with Deadfire. It's a rather tedious and frustrating game. Kingmaker and ATOM on the other hand are worth checking out. As is D:OS2. And original IE games, which you really should've played beforehand.

>no arx, thief, morrowind, nwn and bg1&2
Play more video games.

Arx is jank, Thief is early 3D janky ugly overrated garbage, Morrowind is an actual turd, NWN is shit, Baldur's and Baldur's 2 have mediocre cringeworthy writing and awful gameplay

thief is not an rpg.
still a badass game though.

>PoE II doesn't have waifus. Hence it's shit.
I generally liked the original PoE, and I'm interested to see what the sequel has to offer, as a more exotic setting and somewhat sandbox'y gameplay along with general improvements over the original seem intriguing, though I've heard that the main story is even duller than in PoE.

>As is D:OS2
I enjoyed combat and Ultima VII'ish influences in D:OS, but the writing in sequel seems even worse, and I've heard that it was somewhat streamlined, so I'm not really sure if I want to try it. Can you describe your impressions from it a little bit more in detail?

>And original IE games, which you really should've played beforehand.
Already did.

>trying so hard to fit in

Japanese games have better gameplay

Holy fucking shit taste, batman!

>literally the same gameplay as old as fuck western rpgs but more flashy and cinematic

I’m playing Underrail, the story is meh but the combat is pretty good.

>Reinstall ToEE
>Spend 30 minutes creating a party that doesn't suck
>Actually remember Vanilla ToEE stops at level 10
>NOPE.AVI
>Download Circle of Eight
>Download Temple+
>Spend another 30 minutes since more party members
>Have to spend another 15 minutes outfitting all of them
>Finally get into town
>Party moves around at the speed of slug liches in a sea of molasses
>Can't even select a far away point since chances are the pathfinding bugs out on the way and they stop
>Have to do a gorillion of quests with dialogue in order to not get BTFO by a bunch of frogs or slimes
>After roughly 2 hours I get into my first real fight
>Forgot how early D&D CRPGs are basically missing 90% of the times before getting a single hit
>Mages are useless
>Drop it and wonder how I put up with it back in the day
>Realize the only modern game that doesn't suck dick is Underrail but I grew bored of it after 200 hours
That's why, out of twenty games there's maybe two worth PLAYING and not reading through

>I'm interested to see what the sequel has to offer, as a more exotic setting and somewhat sandbox'y gameplay

It sounds good on paper, but trust me it's not. The game becomes repetetive really fast, the story is disjointed - you have two stories that fight for your attention, they don't mesh at all and you don't have a stake in either, the sandbox gameplay amounts to nothing and it feels very limiting (becuase of budget limitations) and the setting is actually extremaly dull. And the main story is pretty much pointless - you never feel like you accomplish anything of value, but more like a glorified mercenary that's just here because the game tells you to. But again, to each it's own.

>Can you describe your impressions from it a little bit more in detail?
For me it's an improvement over DO:S 1 in pretty much every way - the story is much better written and coherent. You actually know who you are fighting and why. Companions are surprisingly likeable and the game tones down the wacky stuff significantly. It's not for everyone, but I actually had a blast with it. And for the record, I wasn't a big fan of DO:S 1 either.

dont forget Gothic 1 and 2

I'll take the bait.

Sure, Arx is somewhat junky, but it was a great development on UU formula, including the depth of interactivity with the environment and unique magic system.

The only thing that aged poorly in Thief are blocky 3D models, otherwise, it's timeless, and you should be ashamed of yourself. Same about Morrowind (Though combat in it aged poorly). Also >thief is not an rpg.

NWN is great, once you realize that its true power is hidden within the modules and multiplayer.

I can somewhat understand BG, as I'm personally is not a big fan of it, but it's a trusty Bioware formula and in its entirety is an immense and unique experience of going from zero in BG to ascending to godhood in BG2 addons while observing all the changes to the world and the characters around you.

>i play fortnite the post

I play SRPGs (SlavRPGs) like STALKER, AtomRPG, KCD, and The Witcher.

I had a similar experience. It just felt very contrived, and I don't even know why.

BG2 is amazing. The sense of adventure is still unmatched for me.

Same with Planescape Torment. I played it 3 times and each time it feels like experiencing an epic movie, The music, setting and characters feels authentic and immersive.

What a fucking shame Chris Avellone is now attacked by SJW and they might kick him out of Fallen Jedi.

youtube.com/watch?v=nsNXQXW4Ppk&

my favorite game of all time is Planescape, I just have a low tolerance for jank
Planescape is one of the only old WRPGs that holds up because its focus wasn't on the horrible IE combat

>Chris Avellone is now attacked by SJW
What has he done now?

>What a fucking shame Chris Avellone is now attacked by SJW and they might kick him out of Fallen Jedi
How incredibly ironic.

>Playing through BG1-2
>Love everything about them BUT the gameplay
Fuck man, it's so damn boring and clunky.

Waiting for enhanced kingmaker.
CRPGs are better than first person garbage

He said games don't have to be political.
Resetera up in flames

Do Diablo clones count?

Should i play BG enhanced edition or follow beamniggers poster warning and play the original?

He literally only said that the game should only use politics as a tool that would work in a setting of the story, not used as a reference to real life politics and that they should ask questions and not tell the player the answer and how they should think

You should play only the enchanced edition and only pick the new characters made by Beamdog as companions. Also play Siege of Dragonspear

I knew there was a reason I liked Avellone. On the other hand Sawyer keeps being fascinated with marxist theories.

Avellone isn't the writer of Jedi Fallen Order's story or its "main writer".

>you aren't allowed to criticize the original fallouts

So he is only doing some minor writing like in Pillars of Eternity?

Good. You would've subjected yourself to the dullest cRPG in existence.

yes, and divos2, and prey, and kingmaker.
fyi he's also working on ken levine's new game, as well as dying light 2, and baldur's gate 3. he's not working on any of them in a main capacity or full time.

>get fucking manhandled by some mugger with a tiny knife in underrail

Nice game

don't worry, after getting through the first 30% of the game you'll outscale most enemies and won't have to worry about anything
