You can do odd jobs like food deliveries or newspaper deliveries to get money to upgrade Docs gym and also gain some experience/skills for boxing. Also letting you explore the city night life, you can encounter thugs trying to rob people and beat them up with your boxing skills. You can also buy clothes or accessories for your character abit like Splatoon.

Outside of that, going to Doc to enter tournaments and make it to the top like usual. the final boss being Little Mac himself. You can also take your character online and fight other people.

Can you imagine, that the older undefeated little mac, who is of course the final boss, had forgotten about his underdog beginnings and is now equivalent of a super macho man who thinks he is absolutely untouchable and just the shit. All the boxers before hand would be just like regular punch out and little mac would be the only odd one out. It would be impossible to hit him and he can fucking star punch you to the moon. I think that would be fun as fuck.

Little Mac is being mindcontrolled by a boxing official who is trying to get all the top boxers and fight for his television show for the ratings and cash. Doc knows something is fishy but became washed out since he couldnt get back into the ring by himself until your MC shows up with potential. Its alittle spin off of Splatoon 2s story

While I like the idea, the mindcontrol part sounds a bit iffy. He could just have been influenced over time via money and power etc.

Oh shit better yet, the game tells you little mac retires after you beat him and he goes off. Then throughout title defense, you start to see the clues. After you beat one of the last boxers in TD, you find out about it and undercover the whole thing etc. then you fight the last boxer and then you fight the older little mac again as the final boss but he comes back to being like normal little mac and takes the fight to another level.

I mean its a Nintendo game, the mindcontrolled can be pulled off with anything, even something like a pair of custom made boxing gloves that attach itself to the wearer and can control them. And that could work if these gloves are handed out to league winners and all these winners suddenly disappear or start to act differently.
