3&K > Advance > Sonic Mania > 2 > 1

S3&K Sonic is peak cool, attitude sonic. Mania Sonic is peak cute sonic and that's okay. Sonic can be cute.

Nah, there's tons of energy and love put into the little details of the Advance sprites. Arguably the best things to come out of those games, maybe even the whole of the modern Sonic titles.

Based anons. I'm partial to 1/CD (especially the extra animations from the latter), but I agree 3 is fucking perfection. But I don't get when saying the others look too cute when it's the opposite, 3 is the cutest shit, and I love it because of that. He's cute in the same way kid Goku is cute.

Sonic 3 sprites are good for fluid animation, but the actual shading on Sonic looks like garbage. They tried too hard to make his head look 3D with only a few colors, and as a result, it only looks really good in the Sonic 3K levels, which are more detailed than their predecessors. To put that in Mania would look jarring against the older levels, as proves. Meanwhile, shading up the 1/CD sprite makes it fit in the 3K levels in Mania just fine. S3K looks nice in its own environment, but the S1/CD/Mania Sonic wins by a long shot

I’m torn on his look between 3&K and Mania, and like them for different reasons. In general Mania did a good job of blending the looks of the characters throughout the iterations. I ESPECIALLY like sonic’s newer lighter shade of blue that is closer to his coloring in the CD Opening (GOAT look for Sonic btw), and I like that they use Knuckles’ more pinkish/salmon coloring. Feels more distinct

It is the best game though Mania comes close especially when it comes to tech. I hope the team gets to make Sonic 5: Mania 2, and is given the freedom to improve.

Fucking Saturn is amazing.
I remember the moment I got the big ring(after doing all missions) thinking "let's go to the top area" and then credits rolled and getting disappointed as hell. I really though there was more into that

And that was the beta of Adventure for the Saturn, before they had to restart the project again for the Dreamcast. The shift was pretty big from a Sonic World into some Earth type and makes me wonder what would they do with a Saturn version in terms of levels.
