Probably better posted on and OP probably abandoned the thread.

But I knew shit got real when this scene happened. Lance doesn't fuck around.

>/vp/

But this is neither porn nor furfaggotry

Dragonite's overworld sprite looks cooler than its actual design.

Wouldn't getting hit by a Hyper Beam kill you?

fuck I wish they would do something like that in a modern pokemon
they came close to some real shit with pic related but didn't have the balls to finish it properly

Attached: 330px-Sun_Moon_Lusamine_Nihilego_fused.png (330x321, 125K)

Ghetsis nearly impaled you

I started both SM/USUM and never got to those parts because the games are such a fucking drag

If some rocket mook can take a hyper beam from a level 60 Dragonite to the face and not faint, does that mean a human being could beat most Pokemon to death with their fists?

It just means Lance's Dragonite probably was trained well enough to hold back.

Could they not afford to make a 1 sec animation of a beam hitting the guy?
I've been playing Pokemon fangames and MAN do they make Game Freak look like a bunch of lazy shits.

Isnt the pokemon manga like real weird?

soul

romhacks do not face the same size limitations as real GB printed games.

Surviving damage isn't the same as being able to dish it out

Attached: 250px-213Shuckle.png (250x250, 45K)

Game Freak is kinda lazy, but more than anything they're incompetent. Their coding is fucking awful. GSC came out like 2-3 years later than planned because the game was in shambles until Iwata fixed their shit so much that they had room to add Kanto when they originally didn't have enough room for all the plans for Johto. They cut features between gens mostly because they don't want to take the time to figure out how to implement them on a new system. Then there's that whole thing about how Gen 7 has a different model for a given NPC for every area they appear in, even though they're all identical.

Such wasted potential. I have no hope for the new games.

Humans are just as durable as Pokémon in the Pokémon world.

There were non-Pokemon opponents in the gen 5 movie minigame, so why the fuck was Lusamine just a Trainer?

Attached: 74788927_p1.jpg (2048x2304, 1.03M)

Well that wouldn't be a hyper beam, now, would it? If that were the case Lance would have said "DRAGONITE, use BEAM OF ABOVE-AVERAGE STRENGTH"

>go in unspoiled
>Oh shit, we actually fight against this affront to God?
>pokeball appears
>5 slots
>hold out hope that she throws herself in as her 6th
>doesn't

Then why would you use hyper beam? You hold back your pokemon bny making it use weaker attacks, pokemon attacks are just not that destructive.

I'll probably sound like a big pseud here but didn't pokemon used to have like... themes?

Not complicated ones or anything, but they were pretty clear coming-of-age stories about leaving behind your small town life and learning that the world is a big place full of assholes and bad people who will use pokemon for the wrong things, and learning to overcome all that shit through hard work
Whereas now it's kind of a weird power of friendship circlejerk where all the villains become your best friend and conflict is based more around misunderstanding and disagreement than genuine malice

Idk maybe I'm a fucking asshole or something but the games have sanded down what little edge there was to begin with to the point that now it's like a fucking security blanket in video game form

Attached: 1557365921905.png (720x849, 500K)

thats cause its charmeleon sprite

the bad guy in XY founded a death cult and wanted to erase everything.

That pretty much only happened in the last game, kinda. Gen 4 villain killed himself trying to reboot the universe, Gen 5 one is just crazy now, Gen 6 one is either dead or trapped under a giant pile of rubble unable to die due to the secondary effect of the nuke he was going to use to kill 99% of humanity and all pokemon.

>doesn't even use a nihilego

Attached: 2010-09-27-275-HyperBeam.jpg (900x1530, 800K)

Because Lance is playing bad cop and wanted to scare to guy, not kill him. Probably shot to the ground to make the grunt flinch

Sure but in those cases those are ideologies that you can just shut down. Yeah murdering shitloads of people is a bad idea, it's not hard to see why their beliefs are wrong. Whereas being confronted with people are just genuinely shitty for the sole purpose of being shitty confronts the child audience with that concept. You can't tell Team Rocket why what they're doing is wrong, they don't care. Death affirmation is a deeper concept sure but I don't know that a children's video game really has the quality of writing necessary to discuss that, whereas exposing kids to the idea that some people will take something wonderful like nature and use it for bad things is a little more within reach.

I guess what I mean isn't "edge" so much as "edge which can reasonably teach something to children." Because if you go beyond that, you're just edgy.

>transform into hype looking boss monster
>send out a clefable

maximum blueballs

it was a threat

I completely forgot about that iwata shit.
And if I remember well it was a easy solution he did by himself too.
Game Freaks is lucky that they have Pokemon, otherwise they would probably be out of business by now.

>sends out a clefable but this time it has ANGRY EYEBROWS

what? you cant convince any of the post rocket teams that what they are doing is wrong. they are mostly insane cultists.

meanwhile giovanni literally gives up and team rocket falls apart with many becoming even shittier thugs and others giving up the criminal life while a sad few try to contact their old leader.

Sure, but that was not your original point though, you said that pokemon now is all about forgiving your enemies and make amends with the power of friendship, but the villains of gen 4 to 6 were irredeemable people, and the games never tried to excuse their actions or make you forgive them.

In B/W 2 Ghetsis almost has Kyurem impale the MC, a fucking 10-year-old, with Icicles, but is just barely stopped. I always thought that was some dark shit for a kids game.

>Gen 7 has a different model for a given NPC for every area they appear in, even though they're all identical.
Seriously? What the actual fuck.

The MC's in BW2 were around 15 iirc. Still pretty hardcore tho

So would poke/ultra balls work on them?
>throw ball
>catch her
>gets out of it out of nowhere because they're not interested in the whole trainer bullshit
>lusamine calls you a faggot

Xenoblade has some fairly real moments.

we hate them just as much as you

Attached: 1469424273932.jpg (600x384, 15K)

The only /real/ moment in that game is stepping in Kanto for the first time and the fat guy telling you to check your map

Play Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

In pokemon yes

Lance was a genocidal psychopath who, in the manga, nuked an entire fucking town. His entire thing is killing people so Pokemon can live in peace without the "evil" of humanity.
He was out to kill.

If you throw a pokeball at a human, does that human get captured inside the ball?

Looks like slavery is back on the menu boys.

the mange is like, triple noncanon. it has its own completely detached continuity.

You don't really know what you're talking about. I know you want to make a point, but you have to have played the games to make a valid one. You're not doing that.

I has happen multiple times in the anime manga and games, it doesn't work.

So real it got censored forevermore

Attached: OoT blood change.jpg (607x370, 149K)

the manga is also triple times as cool as the games

Meh, it takes too many liberties with the franchise just to be edgy, I wouldn't call that "better", just different.

they did have the balls though
5 pokeballs in fact

Attached: 1558983469282.gif (480x270, 1.45M)

In Xenoblade X there's a sidequest where a friendly squad gets jumped, one guy gets killed and a 2 of the scrubs get captured by the dumb brute aliens and dragged into a cave. You find one of them in the early part of the cave and can ask her what happened. There's 3 or 4 points where you can tell her to stop with the story and just go deeper into the cave to find captives, but if you press her for the whole story its some of the most gruesome shit I've seen in a Nintendo game even though its just text. She describes in disturbing detail how the aliens wanted to eat them, so they began by skinning the other one alive, all the while she's screaming the name of the first guy who got killed in desperation for him to help. Once they got through the skin and realized she was a robot that they couldnt eat, they got mad as fuck proceeded to literally tear her limb from limb, again while she was still alive and screaming in pain. The survivor gets some next level PTSD from witnessing it and pretty much wants to quit everything forever. When you kill the aliens they drop 2 weapons named after the first guy killed and the one who got tortured to death, and you can find an NPC in the area that says 'wow those aliens made weapons out of those 2, thats kinda messed up'.

All in all, Xenoblade X has a lot of fucked up shit in it, but that one in particular made a lasting impression on me just due to how vivid the story was. Great game, I should go back to it some time.

Attached: IMG_20190417_230422.jpg (1024x1024, 94K)

Theres that one side quest where a human is about to kill one of those midget friendly aliens, and when you confront it, you can choose to let him do it or take him out. If you let him do it, he just point blanks the alien, and the other alien that gave you the side quest just commits suicide right there

>Is this the realest shit that ever went down in a Nintendo game?
No but I do enjoy the minimalism that old games provided back then because I gave me a general plot to act out while playing with other children at gatherings.

Specific enough to convey the premise but general enough to inject your own elements and allow your imagination flourish.

You imagination is the greatest story teller.

What about this?

Attached: 6dfg5h1n65fgn1 2.jpg (664x1200, 251K)

Why don't they just build planes out of Pokeballs?

user I think he was driving..dunno how machamp could fit in any car though.

God why was Unova so fucking GOOD?

i want to play all the gens of pokemon, should i play the originals or remakes?

based lin

No, Because that fucker would have been shot out of the building into a mangled, bloody mess.

Most likely a construction worker and the Machamp was a helper, either driving a forklift or some other construction vehicle.

Play the remakes, the QoL improvements would make the whole thing less of an ordeal.

Remakes desu. Recently did an entire run of all of them starting with Yellow (fight me fags, I still played Leaf Green) and it's a waste of time playing the same game twice.

Gen I and II yes remakes. Gen III FUUUCK no.

Was that one of the Alex quests? He's great, dude just goes on a fucking spree for far longer than should have been allowed and each escalation is funnier than the last.

Remakes unless you want to experience the fun bugs, like Gen 1's Toxic + Leech Seed nonsense, or getting all three starters in Gold & Silver.

Attached: boner.jpg (620x620, 38K)

Remember that one time in the show where some legendary Pokemon whose name I forget murdered a Team Rocket group with future sight and everyone drowned

The original Gold/Silver have less handholding, so I'd play those over the remakes. Not very much was fixed from the originals in HGSS.

I haven't seen it in years and years but I remember way preferring the art style over what was in the show

Which one? There are quite a bunch.

>the best pokemon game ever made was made by a literal tranny
stay mad incels lol

Attached: pokemon reborn.jpg (1024x576, 71K)

Nah it's great

Attached: No.jpg (897x598, 444K)

Didn't HG/SS change it to the Dragonite Hyper Beaming a Pokemon that the Rocket had out?

Gamefreak know next to nothing about coding. Rather than just have all the data exist and place points for loads and whatnot, they copy literally EVERYTHING into every location, including every cutscene. There are 129 Lillie's in SuMo, one for every time she appears in the game.

Not even the most real shit that happened in a pokemon game fag

Now this motherfucker right, here: youtube.com/watch?v=VxV0eDM-TUw

Attached: 1558070248087.jpg (500x500, 76K)

Only B2/W2 was good.

Remakes for Gen 1 and Gen 2. For gen 2 even the originals G/S or Crystal. For gen 3 stick with Emerald unless you want be dissapointed.

>yfw the best pokemon series isn't even pokemon related

Dear God this shit was hot garbage.

I barely remember anything about from those games, like it's a memory hole

LG/FR > HG/SS > Emerald > Colosseum/XD > Platinum > BW1/2

Don't skip the gamecube games even if they're still 3rd gen. They're a completely different take on pokemon but they do it good.

>grind
>in a fucking pokemon game
>ever
>ironically and/or unironically

thank god i have autism so i can grind up a full party of 6 pokemon in platinum and only have 6 badges 50 hours in

I count having a weak pokemon in first slot and swapping them out in the first turn as grinding, too, since it wastes a turn.

*snap*, except only lets his shills live

Attached: XY_Lysandre.png (448x1280, 355K)

I haven't played nuPokemon; explain?

what the fuck is this thing supposed to be

Trick Room biiiiiiiiiiitch

Just swap out your lead Pokemon to keep the team's levels even...why would you ever need an exp share even in the newer games? The only exception are shitmons like Magikarp but that's kinda the point

The thing is, you don't really need to grind in pokemon games, usually you're able to finish the main story using only your starter, if you really want to have some back up for elite 4 then 3 mons are more than enough, you don't really need a full party.

Main antagonist is obsessed with ultra beasts (Pokemon from other dimensions), and fuses with one
One would think this means you get to fight her. Reality is she just sends out Pokemon to fight you like any other trainer, but they have special buffs and look angry

Lance x Ghetis when

An otherworldly entity found it's way into the pokemon universe and is a rock/poison brain parasite. Antagonist becomes obsessed with them as literally perfect beings and merges into the Mother Beast... then sends out her pokemon to fight you.

>pokemon rbgy: even the pocket monster world has yakuza, who are involved in scams, schemes, and sometimes outright raids on corporations.
>pokemon gsc: the loss of a charismatic leader doesn't mean his syndicate is going to vanish; they continue their crimes and schemes even as their presence dwindles in a rapidly modernizing, technologically advancing society:
>every other game: some dipshit tries to kidnap god and destroy the world or something

So then what's the point of fusing with it? What does the narrative gain from her doing that?

I played Sun, then torrented x/y, and I have to wonder: was it always the case that only the Champion and post-game challenges had a full party of 6?

THIS WORLD IS IMPERFECT

>10 attack

>Man kills your hubby
>You hate him
>BUT DAMN HIS WIFE IS HOT
>Its ok now
Nintendo shouldnt brainwash kids like that

Don't be a bigot, just accept her species confirmation fusion.

not according to pokemon dex entries.

I don’t care about ur stupid romhack tranny
Also cool bring trannies up when no one was talking about it
Obsessed huh? No one cares ur a tranny faggot

The thing is a Poison type and is described to have mind-altering toxins, so this is just the final step of it's control over her.
Or they thought it looked cool.

Attached: 025Pikachu_TCG.png (646x1207, 424K)

Nope, I don't think full teams were common, but they existed. Plus on average trainers had 3~4 Pokemon.
In XY and SM I don't think regular trainers ever get more than 2 Pokemon, maybe 3 on rare occasion

I distinctly remember the Breeders in RSE always had full teams of 6

It could've been a Machop at the time, possibly.

>it was a Machoke
>it became the other trainer's when the owner died and evolved

Deepest lore

I don't remember much of X/Y from what I played of it, isn't that the player character in the top screenshot? Do they really speak at some point in that game? Or is it a Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald situation where the (main) rival is just the opposite-gender character?

*Or is it just an edit or something?
Forgot to add.

Oh well, Ganondorf was a green-blooded jew bastard anyway.

Lance had hacked mons. Stupid fuck probably didn't invest in atk.
No wonder he was a weak shit.

Rival, and also a little bitch.

Ah, okay.

>only rival to actually feel something about the MC constantly being able to beat him every single time

>Lance
DRAGONITE, HYPER BEAM

>Dragonite
*nudge*

There's always one fisherman Trainer in every single Pokemon game that has a team of six Magikarp.

Gen 5 definitely explored themes about the relationship between humans and Pokemon and such.

Gen 7 has some commentary on how Team Skull is made up of societal rejects and how the system has alienated certain people who've fail to fit in. The island trials are all about the respect of tradition and a literal coming of age journey for those who take it, while also embracing modernization and lifting up the new generation with Kukui working to establish the regions first Pokemon league to cultivate stronger trainers.

Technically, it was "traded" to his wife after his death.

>grr how dare game freak teach children about forgiveness and empathy for other people

Didn't you ever read the manga?

Lance is a really, really bad guy...…

I used to fap to him when I was little

Either is fine, depends on how receptive you are to playing old games.

>hyper beam

Attached: 1036-pidgey-fainted-pokemon-comic.png (471x800, 666K)

IF ONLY I COULD WIPE AWAY THE IMPURITIES

>rby
there are bad guys that want to steal pokemon
>gsc
there are bad guys that want to start stealing pokemon again
FTFY

Jessie and James can survive being regularly launched into the stratosphere
Being in Team Rocket apparently gives you superhuman durability

Extradimensional jellyfish monster possessing a 40 year old mommy main villain. No joke

And yet somehow, this jellyfish knows how to do a Pokemon battle.

>ywn catch Lusamine in a luxury ball
>ywn use Lusamine to win all the Pokemon Contests for beauty

You'll have to be more specific. There's almost as many different manga as there are games.

>Whereas now it's kind of a weird power of friendship circlejerk where all the villains become your best friend and conflict is based more around misunderstanding and disagreement than genuine malice
Can you give, like, one example of this? The closest thing to this I can think of was Archie and Maxie but they were way back in Gen 3.
>the games have sanded down what little edge there was to begin with
Lusamine was mind-raped by an eldritch monster from another dimension into becoming a psychopath who did awful experiments on Pokemon, used cryogenics to freeze (if not kill) Pokemon to use as decorations, and also abused her children. How is that less edgy than "there are some Pokemon yakuza who steal Pokemon"?
>pretty clear coming-of-age stories
Lillie's entire character arc is about overcoming her aforementioned upbringing, facing her fears, and becoming independent. It's as clear of a coming-of-age story as you can get.
Frankly your entire analysis seems completely off-mark.

It probably came from our realm and knew about those pokemon creatures beforehand.

As I understand it they were fused, or at the very least it was linked to her mind somehow
She knew how to do a Pokemon battle, so it did too

only in the manga, and it has special permission by being a pre-modern Pokemon work

Yes T_T

Attached: 3ad.png (1174x918, 917K)

Is there some law against using pokrmns to kill other trainers

But Pheromosa is even more beautiful

Attached: 795Pheromosa.png (885x885, 321K)

Why would Fug do this

She actually lived though, appears later in a wheelchair.

Is this a racist depiction of Koreans?

>Rayquaza fugging murders Zinnia
Why couldn't this have happened in the games
Fuck Zinnia

She did nothing wrong and didnt deserve it.

Based fug

>Rayquaza I stole a bunch of Mega bracelets from trainers including the one you chose to team up with to save the planet from a meteor
>now listen to me i'm your master now, see these bracelets?
>why are you impaling me T_T

Currently playing through Emerald. Got a Combusken, Spheal, and Pidgeotto. I started out with a romhack version but used my .sav on the vanilla version after 10 hours (needed constant grinding since every trainer was like 10 levels higher than me at any given time)

Looking to add a Claydol to my team at some point, but I'm not sure who I want to add after that.

Attached: 1539556558698.gif (400x400, 24K)

Aggron

Pretty based, what a dumb bitch.

Magneton

Sounds good, I like those guys too. I'm 3 gyms in and I'm tired of only having 3 Pokemon.

Attached: 1537509984824.jpg (183x195, 22K)

Can you tell more info? I want to search this scene but I can't find it with just "cave" "captured" and "story"

>Have these stupid rules like "Pokemon can;t ever attack humans" to keep Pokemon from jumping the shark
>But crazy jellyfish milf fusion alternate universe crap is just fine

I just want to catch Pokemon is that so hard?

After a quick google of 'xenoblade x skinned alive', the quest name seems to be Predator and Prey

It shouldve known about water!

Also pick up a Tropius at some point he’s like the perfect HM bitch

Is he good in-game too? I need a good HM slave right about now.

Tropius is pretty trash outside of HM use.

Ah yes
youtu.be/1rnYSdLuw-k?t=128
The best Pokemon game.

So she's basically Venom?
That means there can be a whole array of poke-symbionts, right?

>power trick

>Accident

Sure it was lady

Basically, the leader of nu-Team Rocket becomes Sephiroth and fuses with an Ultra Beast, which is some creature from another dimension/universe or some shit.

Jesus fucking Christ.

I think what you're looking for is the simpler, more natural, more grounded tone of the earlier games.

Gen 5 is about the relationship between people and pokemon and how different people interpret it
Gen 6 is arguably about embracing hope over nihilism
Gen 7 is about family with Lillie's story arc, there's also a lot of stuff about disappointment and unfulfilled dreams, like how Team Skull is made up of losers who couldn't hack being "real" trainers, and the Eevee trainer sidequest where all of the eevee trainers either gave up being trainers for mundane lives or died.

>Ghetsis's plan is to essentially implement gun control sohe can roll in with his armed to the teeth army and take over Poke-America

>and the Eevee trainer sidequest where all of the eevee trainers either gave up being trainers

Swap out Eevee for Flareon and it'd be real life
